Automatically refresh a report when it loads.

Hi,
I have a report created against the service request object which is accessed from the SR page using a weblink. However when the report is displayed it does not always show the current data. I have to click the 'refresh' link at the end of report to get it to display the correct data. Ideally I would like to avoid the user having to click 'refresh' so.....
Does anyone know how i could get the report to refresh automatically when it loads so that it always shows the current data?
Thanks in advance

Contact C/C they will be able to help you with that

  • Is it possible to automatically refresh a report at 15-minute intervals?

I have a user who doesn't want to have to manually refresh his onhand inventory report throughout the day. He would like, instead, for the report to automatically refresh at 15-minute intervals. I cannot find anything in the Desktop, Plus, and Viewer user guides that allow for this. We're currently using Desktop 10.1.2.48 and are deploying Plus and Viewer 10.1.2.54 CP8 after the first of the year.
I have suggested that the user insert the date/time into his report title so he can have a clue how current the data is and then manually refresh the report if he needs to. However, he would still rather have the report refresh itself.
    Is this possible?

    Hi,
No you cannot automatically refresh a report. Your best option is to use Viewer. You can run a report by posting a URL to the viewer report from your browser. You then create a web page that automtically refreshes the report.
To be honest though, I wouldn't use Discoverer to do this. You should look at Apex which has automatic refresh as an option for the reports and is very quick and simple to set up (and free to use!).

  • Refresh FR report when Substitution Variable change

    Hi All,
Is there any way to refresh FR report which are opened through smart view/ workspace when the Substitution Variable changed. Like if my report opened for the Year = Curryear and now curryear value is FY14 if I changed curryear as FY15 will it reflect on my FR report that already opened.
    Regards,
    Pradipta

For sure it won't be updated automatically if the report is open. Did you try changing it and then see what happens?
You'll have to refresh the report for the subvar to show up on the report.
P.S remember to stop and start your Essbase application after the subvar change

  • 3.1EA2: Automatic refreshing of report brings SQL Dev to front

    Hallo Forum,
today I stumbled upon some strage behaviour of SQL Developer 3.1.06.44.
I have created a report which is actually just a select count(*) from... with some parameter. When I call the report I'm asked for the parameter and presented the result.
So far so good. But when I now set the auto refresh to 30s, SQL Developer jumps to front every 30s or at least tries to do so indicating that by blinking task bar icon.
I think the application should not push around the input focus while refreshing a report. If it's in the background it should stay there and silently refresh its window.
I use SQL Dev 64bit und Windows 7 64bit with JDK 1.6.0_29 and am connecting to Oracle 11.2.0.2.0 64bit on Windows 2008R2 64bit.

    Thank you, Phil.
This worked for me in my quick test case.
Great help, as DBA group wants to allow NON-privileged users (like Developers and QA) to execute ADDM on demand.
Here is my observation for RAC database with two instances.
    I have followed your instructions:
"Performance / Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor -> Run ADDM"
    Then
    - Uncheck box "By Creating New Snapshot" (this box was checked by default)
    - Provide new "Task Name" (let's say "vr1")
    - Select "Start Snapshot" (this is where my first confusion is: each screen shot # is shown twice, may be because i have two instances of RAC)
    - Select "End Snapshot" (the same way: each SNAP_ID is shown twice)
    - and finally APPLY button is pressed
    This creates 3 reports:
    vr1
    vr1$1 (for instance_id=1)
    vr1$2 (for instance_id=2_
So, my question is: this expected and normal behavior of the tool?
What if my RAC database has 8 instances? Then I would generate 9 separate ADDM reports?
    Is this correct observation?
    Thank you,
    vr

  • Refresh detail report when page is changed

    Hi All,
could You help me with this problem, please?
I have page with two reports on one page - master and detail. Master report has link column which ‘call’ the same page and fill item (P2_id) and it refresh the detail report. The problem is when I am changing the page (next x records), then is not item P2_ID changed and detail shows me data of the record from previous page :-(
Idea is – when will page change than will ID from the first row of report copy into P2_ID... I thing there will any easy trick to solve this but I can find out it...
    Please should You help me
    Thanks a lot
    Alexej

    Alexej,
The hard thing about what you want to do would be to populate the value of P2_ID on load. There's probably a way to do it but it would take some thought. The easy approach is simply to clear out the value of P2_ID on load and let the user select the row they want again. To get that to work the first thing you'll need to do is to disable the partial page rendering for this report's pagination as there is currently no way to handle these events well (I've done that). Next you'll need to have a process that clears out the value at the right time (I added a computation with a request condition).

  • Automatically role up reporting when manager leaves

    Hi,
How do we automatically role employees up to the next level of reporting relations when a manager is terminated & they are not moved?
For eg: if my manager leaves, my reporting should automatically role up to my manager's manager.
Please advise if there is some configuration or standard report to perform this activity.
    Thank you,
    Manish

This is actually standard SAP behaviour. When a manager position is empty, SAP considers the manager to be the next manager up the hierarchy.  This is how eg. MSS and reports for managers work.  Also I believe the FM that finds managers work this way.
Note that for workflows, the switch WFLOW/VAPOS needs to be set for the system to skip the vacant manager positions and go one level up.

  • Automatic refresh of browser when an incoming call comes in

If you have to take a phone call and you're in the midst of typing information into a web page you lose all of it because when you hang up the call, it goes back to Safari and refreshes the page.
Is there anyway to stop this from happening? I just lost a super long comment I was typing on a blog.
    Thanks in advance!

It does this because it needs sufficient memory for everything else. It clears the cache of that site which then makes it need to refresh. No way to disable this.

  • How to automatically refresh crystal report's viewer content

    Hello,
How can I force a periodic reload of the contents of a report as displayed in crystal reports viewer? (without clicking anywhere)
The idea is simply to update the content of the screen with fresh data, that could be used as a monitoring screen.
The update must not require user intervention (no clicking, no prompting for parameters).
We are using a jsp page CrystalReportsViewer.jsp , CRJ update 2
I assume this is quite standard, and that there is a way using a javascript reload function, but I cannot find any example anywhere.
Does someone know how to do this?
    Thanks in advance!
    Matt

There's no public API on the client-side JavaScript to trigger the refresh button, but I do know some people trap the HTTP traffic (using something like Fiddler or Charles) to figure out what to do, then inject JavaScript.
I personally don't have any sample codes for this.
    Sincerely,

  • Automatically open print dialogue when file loads

Hi - I am setting up a website which, after a user submits their info, opens a PDF in the browser window. Is there a way to embed in the pdf the logic that triggers a browser's print dialogue? If so, could you refer me to where I might research that? Thanks!

Don't know about the browser's print dialog, but you can have the Acrobat/Reader's print dialog launch by running this code in the console with the file opened:
    this.addScript("print","this.print()")
After doing so, and saving the file, it will open the print dialog whenever it is opened.

  • How to prevent an automatic refresh of a dashboard

    Hi,
Currently OBIEE automatically refreshes all reports of a dashboard once it's selected. This often causes a heavy load on our databases. The question is: how can I prevent an automatic refresh? I only want the dashboard to be refreshed once I click on the "Go" button of the dashboard prompt!
    TIA,
    Erik
Edited by: Erik on 25-Mar-2011 12:09

    Hi Eric,
In the dashboard, better create a landing page. In this landing page just add the dashboard object (link or image).
Once this is configured, user have an option to navigate to the report through link.
Even we can configure the common prompts/ global prompts at the front (Landing page) with the note to the user on navigation.
By this way, you can have the control of dashboard refresh.
    Thanks,

  • Everytime I open a new tab, Firefox automatically refreshes the currently open ones.

When I attempt to open a new tab, Firefox automatically refreshes the already opened and loaded websites in other tabs.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • How do you refresh a report after an update?

    Hi all,
I have a Welcome Page that has several Portlets on it. One of the Portlets is a QBE report. From the report a user can click on a column record and be transported to a form, where the user can modify the record. Once the user is satisfied with the changes, the user hits the UPDATE button and is transported back to the Welcome Page. The only problem is that the Report has not been updated. Refresh does not work on the web toolbar and the only way I figured out on how to refresh the report is to go into the 'Customize' page and make some sort of change and hit O.K. After that, I am redirected back to the Welcome Page with the Report refreshed with current data. How can I refresh the report, without going into the 'Customize' Page? What code does the 'Customize' page do, to automatically refresh the report? I am using Portal 9.0.2.2.14.
    TIA,
    Dan

    Hi,
This is due to webcache. You can solve this problem by calling the page url with an extra parameter. That way the page would get invalidated.
    Say the page url is
    http://domain/portal/page_pageid=33,32951&_dad=portaldad&_schema=portalschema
then you should call the page like this
    http://domain/portal/page_pageid=33,32951&_dad=portaldad&_schema=portalschema&1=2
This just adds a dummy parameter at the end and hence invalidates the cache.
    Thanks,
    Sharmila

  • Force refresh a report

    Hello,
Is there a way where we can refresh the report when the user opens it. Without having the user to click on refresh ?
We are having some JS code in the report and without refresh it doesn't seem to fetch the latest values.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Thanks for the reply John.
I have attempting to use the "Bypass Oracle BI Presentation Services Cache" it works well with a simple report. However when I use it over some of the other more complex answers I'm getting some really strange results. Essentially reports seem to run forever, the session monitor suggests they are complete however they never render on the screen. This problem seems particular to reports which are navigated to via a navigation target.
The problem also seems to adversley affect presentation services even requiring a restart before they return to normal.
Have you had much experience using "Bypass Oracle BI Presentation Services Cache". I've noticed there seems to be a metalink article and bug raised (Doc ID 737840.1), Oracle's suggestion: "Customers should only check this bypass cache box in rare circumstances for fast-running requests"
This doesn't really satisfy our requirement.
    Cheers

  • Refresh ALV Report after return from dialog screen

    Hi All,
I have developed an alv report which lists new products, when user clicks on a product it will take to custom dialog screen where user makes neccessary changes. Once the changes are done user clicks back the control comes back to the ALV report.
My question is when they come back to ALV report it should refresh and list the new products. Basically I want to know is it possible to refresh the report when control is coming back from dialog screen to ALV report.
Pls provide me a best way to handle this scenario.

          READ TABLE it_alv_map INTO wa_alv INDEX rs_selfield-tabindex.
          IF sy-subrc = 0.
SET PARAMETER ID 'ZCR' FIELD wa_alv-product.
CALL TRANSACTION 'ZSD_PRODUCT_DIV' AND SKIP FIRST SCREEN.
          ENDIF.
      ENDCASE.
    ENDFORM.
After it goes to dialog when I clcik back it comes  back to the alv report.
Now can you Pls tell me where to use the refresh.
    Regards,
    Anand
