AXn connecting to main AE, but not to internet?d

I have a main airport extreme running in n only mode (2.4) and to allow to extend the network. I have an AEx also in n mode set to extend this network. I have a Powermac that I want to ethernet into the AEx. It gets an ip address, but can't connect to the internet (nothing resolves). My laptop and powermac can see each other locally, but it seems like the AEx isn't connecting to the internet correctly. If I set my laptop to connect to the AEx, it also can't get out, yet it still sees the powermac. Any ideas?

    Hi,
WIFI stopped working after I woke the computer up, now says connected to the network but not the internet, all other coputers and devices connected still with no problems, have pinged IP address from router and got the message "4 packets sent none received"... Help
I have tried network diagnostics which doesnt help... The only other ting is, when I woke the computer up it said tat another device was using my IP... My wife had plugged her phone into the computer to charge etc but even when i turn wifi off on the phone there is no change... also in settings on the phone the IP address is different...

The answer to your question is - neither!
Your PC should to configured to obtain an IP address automatically, and to obtain DNS server IP addresses automatically, from the Airport Express. This is the way Windows (and Macs for that matter) are configued by default, and that is the way most people have their computers set up. If you manually configured your PC's IP address to be the same as your wife's Mac, it certainly explains why your PC is not able to access the internet.

  • IPhone 6 Plus connects to Airport Extreme but not the internet

Light on my Airport Extreme is green and the Airport Utility on the iPhone 6 Plus shows that it's connected to the Airport, but not the internet.  What the strange this is, I am still getting email and message notifications but just can't view them.
However the internet connection on both my iPad Air and Macbook Pro are working perfectly fine, and they are both connected to the same Airport Extreme.
The firmware on Airport is updated, I have tried to reset network settings and restarting the iPhone with no luck.  Any suggestions on what to do?

Give me a screenshot of the working network IP setup on the MBP.
It should look like this. I need to see the IP address and you can also copy and paste for me the dns address.
The same thing from the iphone IP address and DNS will then help me figure out what is wrong.
If they both have an IP like 10.0.1.xx then the DNS or gateway (what apple calls router) has setup wrongly .. try setting manually with the same values exactly as the MBP.
If however the IP is something public like 200.100.2.100 and the other ipad is similar the Airport is setup wrongly in bridge and you have exhausted the available IP addresses so redo the setup of the Extreme so it is in router mode.

  • HT1595 Why is my Apple TV able to connect to the wireless but not the Internet?

I cannot connect to the Internet! It's so frustrating it says it can connect to the wireless but not the Internet I know I have a signal because I have my laptop and iPad connected and working fine but its just Apple TV that cannot connect! Also when I continued without Internet it wouldn't let me sign in with my apple id even though I know it was right is this because I wasn't connected to the Internet? Someone help me please

It's in your router.  Google is your friend, using the make and model of your router and the key words "port forwarding".
There are lots of guides, for example http://www.wikihow.com/Set-up-Port-Forwarding-on-a-Router
The hardest part is figuring out where to go in your particular router's menu system to type in the IP address of your Apple TV

  • My PC is connected to my airport by Ethernet. I can connect to the network, but not the internet. My wireless devices can access the internet

My PC is connected to AirPort Extreme by ethernet, I can access the network, but not the internet. The wireless devices on the extreme can access the internet

    Hey DM,
Is the Wireless(WL) router signal coming through the wired-router?
My ISP requires that my Wireless Router is identified from their end. I use AirPort Express, so they need its MAC address from the router. Without that, my network will show up, but my ISP doesn't recognize it and won't allow it to route he internet. I don't know your exact situation though.
Can other wireless computers access the internet? If they can through the WL router, then it might be the MacBook. If they can't, then you might want to contact your ISP and ask if they can see your wireless router?
    Let us know.

  • Connects to Airport extreme but not to internet

Whenever I close my laptop and reopen, I lose internet connection thru the airport extreme and I won't get it back. It seems that I will have connection to the Airport Extreme, but not the internet.
Sometimes what fixes it is turning the airport off and then on again (sometimes multiple times). Usually restarting the computer fixes it (but not always).
What happens is this (viewing Sysprefs/network/airport/network status and "internet connect"): the internet connect will report connecting...then will announce "connected", but show no "time elapsed" at the same time the Net status will read "airport is connected to ..network...with it's own IP address and may or may not be connected to the internet" And I won't be.
Then, when it starts working again (after the abovementioned turning off/on) it will start counting time elapsed, then in Net Status it will say "airport connected to ..network. you are connected to the internet via airport."
Also, whenever I use "internet connect" to turn the airport off, when I turn it back on again I will not have internet access, just the messages I list above. The "strenth meter" will say my signal is good (which it should be) and it says I am connected but doesn't show "elapsed time" nor will I have actual internet access.
Again, restarting the computer will usually work (less often, logging out then back in).
Another strange symptom-- When I hit the "disconnect" button under the airport section of "internet connect" it disconnects, then reconnects immediately. When I hit the disconnect button w/ in the Sysprefs/network/airport...etc, it does nothing but bring to the front window the "internet connect" window. So the only way to "disconnect" is to turn off the airport (which results in the above problem).
Side note--I am in the habit of turning off the airport (not the base, but from the computer) when I don't plan on using it for security-- am I being excessively paranoid? I do have my firewall in operation. Should I just leave it (being the airport) on all the time (in your humble opinion?
Sorry if this makes no sense or rambles, it is now 5:30 am and She Who Must Be Obeyed will be getting up in about an hour wanting to know if I fixed the computer yet. I'm tired.
    Thank you in advance.

    Try the following:
    Delete Preferred Network(s)
    - System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Configure
    - In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"
    - Delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list
    Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
    - Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
    - Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
    - Restart, or log out then back in.
    Add Preferred Network(s)
    - System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Configure
    - In the "By default, join:" pull-down menu, select "Preferred networks"

  • My iPod Touch 4G connects to access point, but not the internet.

I'm stuck for ideas, so any help is appreciated! I've gone through the troubleshooting guide, and none of that helped. I've reset my network settings, forgetting the specific network, resetting the router, resetting the iPod, restoring it to factory settings, upgrading to the latest firmware, and nothing has worked.
Sometimes, if I forget the network and reset my iPod, it may (but not always) work for that session. Whenever I try again, I have to repeat this process and HOPE it works.
I can't try on another network because that's not available to me and won't be for a while.
This happened really randomly. Nothing changed, and it's driving me mad. Any help is appreciated a lot!

Does it connect to the internet with other networks?
    - If so that indicates a problem with your router. Likely time for a new router.
    - If not that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Airport Connects to WAP Network but not to internet

I have been using the same network and Airport Extreme Base station for about as long as I've had my computer (coming close to three years). It's never had an extended problem with it. Last week or so, it stopped allowing me to connect to the internet. Both the cable modem and base station are working properly to my knowledge and I have not changed any of the settings. I am able to connect to the base station and it tells me that I am connected through my network to the internet (through ethernet). However, when I click on the internet (any application) it just takes forever to load, whereas if I join a different, unsecured network, the internet works just fine.
Not sure if this is related but I also am having trouble with wired internet connections. I bring my computer to school and plug it into the school connection in my lab and the internet works, but the "built-in ethernet" does not seem to be present at all times and at others it does not detect the network.
I am not very good with setting up IP addresses and the like so I was unable to use the troubleshooting page to help me with this problem. However, I am competent in fixing other kinds of issues, so if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear.
    G4 Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Same issues, worked fine for a year, no sudden changes etc. No no internet IP assigned, strange thing is that the WAN spits out a connection to my VOIP phone.
    What gives?

  • Can connect to wireless network but not to internet

Ok, so I bought a new AEBS and have finally managed to get it set up with my cable modem, and with security on so that the light is green, and not amber... the only problem now is that although I can connect to the wireless network that i have created using the base station, I cannot connect to the internet through it using my MacBook.
I don't have problem connecting my iMac to the net wirelessly using the base unit so am confused.
    Anyone got any ideas?

It is described on Page 51 of "Designing AirPort Extreme 802.11n Networks" (http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/DesigningAirPortExtreme802.11nNetworks.pdf).

  • Laptop connects to the network, but not the internet

I recently bought a Toshiba Satelite A135-S4666, and since I got it and got the router set up with the laptop, the internet on the laptop quits responding after about 30 min to 1 hr. of the laptop being on.
I had a friend set up the modem manually using the 192.168.1.1 IP address, so I'm pretty sure that none of my settings are wrong.  I also have a desktop connected with hard lines to the router, and I never have a problem.
At this point, I am really irritated because I can't ever use the laptop for more than a few minutes without having to keep re-booting.  I don't know if it's a hardware problem or a settings problem.  I've entertained the idea of backing up all my docs from the laptop and restoring it from the disc that was in the box when I bought it, but I wonder if that will even work.
Has anyone out there experienced this problem, or know how I can fix it as painlessly as possible?

I have a client with the same problem. I found a message in a forum on TechIMO saying the problem was Vista TCP/IP packets 'fall apart' while undergoing the firewall's SPI. I haven't found any mention of it on the Linksys website which makes me wonder if the guy knew what he was talking about, but it sounds possible.
I'm certain it's something in the interaction between Vista & the WRT54G as the other computers on the network (all XP) work fine.

  • Can connect to iTunes radio, but not to internet and email

I connect to the internet with the Airport Extreme card in my iMac, via a Linksys wireless router, connected to a Motorola cable modem. I have to unplug and re-plug in the modem several times a day, because I can't get online with Safari, nor can I get/send email. What's weird is that I have a full signal on the Airport, and the Status pane in Network prefs says, "You are connected to the Internet via Airport." Also, I am often listening to an iTunes radio station without interruption when this happens. Just today, I left iTunes radio playing while I went a away for a couple hours (for the cat, dontcha know). When I got back, the radio was still going, but I couldn't get online.
I have contacted my ISP, and nothing seems to be wrong from their end. Network diagnostics cannot fix the problem. I am in a rural area with no neighbors that would have any networks interfering, and my modem and router are away from the TV and other electronics.
Any ideas? Should I get an Airport base station? Are there any settings on the Mac which would keep the internet connected? My location is et to automatic.

if you are able to go online with wired connection ..... access router setup page .... configure the wireless settings .... such as SSID & wireless security ....
Click save settings ... on the wireless computers .... try to connect to the wireless network ... if you are using security make sure to use correct key ....
    See if it works ....

  • Can connect to router, but not to internet

About a week ago, my whole wireless setup stopped working. I have a BEFW11S4 v.4 router and a WPC54G v3 notebook adapter. I tried the hard reset on the router and taking to security off the wireless. I can connect to the router, but not the internet. What am I doing wrong? I can connect directly using the DSL modem.

If you are getting Ip address in the range of 192.168.1.X ....with gateway 192.168.1.1 .... change the Local Ip address to 192.168.2.1 ...click save settings ....
Do power cycle .....& see if you are online or not ....

  • I can connect to my wireless network but not the internet

Hi. I've had my iBook G4 for just about a year and it's worked fantastically... until recently. My roommate has a PC and a linksys wireless router, and I've always been able to connect wirelessly to the internet until last week. I came home from work one day, and my iBook "saw" our wireless network and could "see" other computers on the network, but could not access the internet. My roommate had no problem accessing the internet through the wi-fi on his Dell laptop. So I zapped my p-ram and fiddled with some settings, but I still had the same problem.
Next I re-installed OS X, and tried again. Still the same issue. Of course, by this time I'm getting frustrated, but then about 12 hours later I decide to try it again and it just works! Like there was never any problem....
So anyway, it worked like a dream for about a week and now I have the same exact problem again! It connects to the network but not the internet. Is this a known problem? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks,
    -joe.

i was having the same issue with all my devices. everything would cut out and i would have to reboot my router...my internet service provider is ATT and i have a Uverse router. i went to their online support and i was able to chat with a tech support agent and they ended up changing the channel of my router and that has resolved my problem....i am currently steaming pics from my iphoto library to my apple tv and my wife is streaming music from her iphone at the same time...support tech stated that usually they have the router set to a generic channel that usually has a lot of traffic.
