Back from service, case doesn't seem right

I just got my macbook pro back from service, maybe a week or two ago. Since its been back I've noticed the case really doesn't seem like its fitting together right. I've got gaps between various pieces of the case and have parts that don't really fit flush anymore. It wasn't like this when I sent it out
If I call apple do you think they'll fix it? They could easily just ignore it and blame it on me, but it definitely wasn't like this when I sent it off, and the more I look at it the more it really seems put together wrong.

I'm guessing that there is a gap on the front of the machine where the bottom case fits with the top case (the part with the keyboard & trackpad).
Once the unit is popped open, it doesn't close quite like it did when it was first assembled. That's because there are 4 clips that are on the front inside lip that get slightly worn when the machine is popped open. I'm also guessing that there is a glue of somesort that is run lightly around the seams to ensure flush enclosure.
There are stories that even without servicing that these gaps form after time.
If you go and demand that apple fix it, they will. They will have to replace the top and bottom case. This fix could take quite a bit longer as it would need to be sent out to the depot. All of the innerds need to come out to replace the bottom case. But...they'll do it if you demand it.

- Are they listed in your Puchases history when you log into your account on your computer?
- Are they still available now for purchase? If not then you are out of luck

Something doesn't seem right with start-up

Maybe I'm going mad but something doesn't seem right. When I start-up I get the usual chime, the power light comes on, I hear the drive whir a bit, the fans have a quick blow and the I get a black screen for about 30 seconds. After this the light goes out & the screen turns grey, then I get the grey sceen + apple and the 'wheel thing' followed by the blue screen and normal start-up. Perhaps this is normal, but I'm sure I never used to get the 30 second delay with the black screen and I used to go straight to grey if you see what I mean. Am I going mad or is the delay unusual??

I know it's bad form to reply to your own post but thought someone might be interested to hear how I've sorted this one out. Thought I'd try starting up in safe mode and running FSCK, but having never done this before wasn't quite sure what to expect! When it started up I just got page after page of 'techno-jargon' which didn't look good - especially when every line seem to have the word error in it - can't remember exactly what it said but each line had something with USB along with numbers and letters and an error message (yes - I know this isn't very clear but the memory's beginning to fail). Anyway because this wasn't looking too good I decided to reboot and unplug everything from my USB ports (including a 7 port USB 2 hub) and restart. Lo and behold problem sorted. Then plugged it back in again and tried again - back to original problem. However noticed that the LED on my graphics tablet wasn't lighting up so unplugged that from the hub, reinstalled the drivers and tried again. Now everything seems to be back to normal. The black screen on start-up lasts just a couple of seconds and we're back to the normal start-up time. Weird, but at least I can now sleep easy!

The good news is it appears that the adapter certainly is being seen.
There have been discussions here about issues with the USB adapter which appear to relate to issues getting the drivers in place when it first sees the device. You'll see some details here.

The posts towards the end of the first page and heading onto the second deal with some fixes.
It seems you need to get the machine to add a new connection and, at that point, it should properly configure itself.
A number of posters indicated that creating a new location (which ends up with only the Wifi connection to start) seemed to allow for the installation. You get there by going to System Preferences->Network and the location bar is at the top.
Others report that hitting the "plus" key with the adapter plugged in (preferably also hooked to a network cable and network) seems to have worked as well by adding a "new" Ethernet connection to the default Automatic location. You could then delete the nonfunctioning USB Ethernet connection. The issue with a new location is I don't believe it initially brings over Wifi settings, so you'd have to reconfigure Wifi for passwords, etc.
In theory you could, I suppose, just delete the USB Ethernet connection in the Automatic location (doesn't seem to be doing you any good :-) ). For good measure I'd restart at that point so that (hopefully) all references to the old adapter are gone.
After restarting, when you plug the device in OSX should recognize again that it is there and (hopefully) this time be able to add it to the system properly. I'd suggest doing that with the device plugged in and cabled up.

Apple has the phones, seems like they SHOULD feel the first orders first. NOT very good customer support to put your early orders last.

Like any distribution system anywhere, stock is allocated to various outlets to ensure everywhere gets at least some stock. You clearly have no understanding whatsoever of distribution.
Apple cannot produce enough iPhones to satisfy all of launch days demand, so they have to share out the available iPhones between outlets.
So, there may be 3m iPhones allocated to the online store in the US, 3m iPhones allocated to the physical stores in the US, and other amounts for each country the iPhone is launching in.
You can choose whether to buy online or in-store. However, in both cases, once the allocated stock is gone, it is gone. Why should customers who choose to queue up and buy in-store have stock taken away from them, reducing their chances, just to fulfill your choice of buying online?
Both online and in-store have their advantages and disadvantages. You make the choice.

Ultranav not recognized at all by windows 7 after getting it back from servicing

I just got back my W530 form servicing due to BSODs, they replaced the memories, mother board, and a power cable, and now the Ultranav pointing device doesn't work, and isn't listsed in the device manager.
What should I try? I have already tried installing the drivers from the website to no avail.

After I install the driver from the Lenovo website, and I open the mouse setting in Windows, I get the following error.
If I uninstall it, and reboot, the problem still exists.

Just got Nano back from service. Worked for 5 minutes, back to old problem.

I recently sent in my Nano because the click/scroll wheel became non-functional. The only response I would get from it would be from resetting it, after that, I was unable to get any response from the Ipod. I sent it in for service, and the expedient "service" was excellent. I got it back yesterday afternoon, turned it on, saw it was working. I proceeded to attach it to my computer via usb cable, updated it and added songs to it. Turned it on to see the songs were on it, and didnt use it until today. I grab it in the morning for the ride to work, and I change songs about 10 times, and......unresponsive. Went to change songs again, and nothing.
Again, all I can do is hold the menu/center click to reset it, and it is completely unresponsive beyond that.
I refuse to pay Apple another $32 within a 7 day period after "fixing" my Ipod. Is there any way to email them, or get in touch with an actual live person? Because this is ridiculous. The thing is 9 months old, and has never seen outdoor use, or even been out of its neoprene sleeve. Its pretty much seen car duty, and thats IT.

From what I was told by one of the forum Mods a while back, Apple engineers have determined that this is caused by not allowing the firmware update to finish the installation before disconnecting the iPod. Try these steps.
Reset the iPod.
If the reset doesn't help, then put the iPod into forced disk mode.
How to put the iPod into disk mode.
Now connect the iPod to the computer. This step may immediately take you to the iPod's normal display screen. Reset the iPod to exit disk mode.
If you still have the white screen, then you should use the updater to restore the iPod.
Wait until the restore has finished before disconnecting the iPod. If you're unsure, wait at least 20 minutes (it's probably overkill but best to be sure). In my experience, the software updater for version 1.1.1 (and later) takes longer to complete the process than previous updaters.
That should cure the issue.
If however it doesn't, and your iPod is still non responsive (doesn't reset, nothing on the screen or button presses don't work), then it will have to be sent away for service.

BSOD after getting it back from servicing

Hello everyone,
I recently had to send my W530 in for servicing due to random sleeping / lockouts.
I got it back and they replaced the motherboard, SATA7 C500AF, the two 4GB PC3-12800 DDR3, AUO 15.6FDH.
The first time I boot it up I get a screen telling me that I have to choose between safe mode, restarting it from a known working ..., and restarting windows normally. So I restarted windows normally and I got the BSOD.
I believe I will have to restore Windows 7 via CD, am I correct? What can I try?

Yes, I can. Apologies for not being in more detail in my last post. When entering Event Viewer, open the tree for Windows Logs in the left pane and then select System Logs. You should see the central pane change and a very large list appear in it. Scroll through the list to the last time a BSOD occurred and see if any warnings or errors are present during that time.
If nothing is appearing here, there is also a setting that will make the BSOD stay on the screen indefinitely until you restart the system by pressing the power button. This will allow you to copy down the codes and/or take a photo of the screen. To get to this option, open the start menu and right-click on Computer and select Properties. A window will open up. Select Advanced system settings from the right. Another winodw will appear. In this window, select Settings underneath Startup and Recovery. There will be a box in here labelled Automatically restart. Make sure this box is unchecked, then select OK. Select Apply, then OK from the previous menu and you should be set.

Just got my Nano back from service and.....

I just sent my 2Gb Nano into Apple care and got it serviced. I just got it back and got a completely new Nano. My problem is that this one has a white screen and I havent dropped in or done anything, except plug it into my computer and install it on my computer. I was wondering if I had to send it back in again. Thanks.

Mac -Mini running at 100C CPU temperature after receiving back from servic

I just received back my Mac-mini from Apple service.
As other users reported, the fan was going mad, running at full speed all the time. By using: http://www.bresink.de/osx/TemperatureMonitor.html
I could see that the temperature-sensor connected to the heat-sink did not show up in the list of sensors. Service replaced the main board, and now the heat-sink sensor shows reasonable readings, and the fan is running silent, at least with no work load.
However, while performing a little web browsing, I found that the fan still goes wild.
What I noticed: The "TemperatureMonitor" utility reports that the CPU core temperature goes up beyond 100C/212F, even under mild work load, while the CPU heat sink is still reported at moderate temperatures around 35 C/95F !??? Environment temperature is below 30C.
Before I give away my MAC for another week or two, I would like to check whether this is usual behavior. Other users report max CPU temp of about 80-90C. Intel specifies max core temperature of 100C. According to the digital thermometer build in, my MAC sometimes exceeds this max spec by Intel.
Is this usual behavior, or did Apple service not properly install the heat sink after service, such that the CPU is only running with limited cooling ??

Only an internal investigation would show whether the heatsink was correctly reinstalled, but quite clearly since the temperature being reported is at the operational limit specified for the processor, what you are experiencing is not in any way 'usual'. There are sites with content such as flash animations, which can cause high CPU load and thus push system temperatures up and cause the fan to spin up, but not for prolonged periods of course.
Since the fan is running up to full speed on your mini as a result of the temperature rising, it is clearly not an issue with MacOS or the fan control cable, and as such I would urge that you return your system to the service provider with a description of the problem and a list of website addresses you have visited which causes these problems so they can set about replicating the issue.

Trying to go Back from quiz slides doesn't work. Why??

I'm having the same problem and hoping that re-posting will
knock the answer down from the trees.
Problem: I insert quiz slides at the end of my lesson file.
In the compiled file, once I reach the quiz slides, if I use use
the Back button, playbar, or menu to move back to an earlier slide,
I can no longer access the quiz slides. There is just no reaction
to pressing the Forward button or using the menu. The playbar jumps
past the quiz slides in both directions and doesn't even show the
numbering (18/25, etc) anymore for the quiz slides.
Does anyone have any insight as to why this is happening?

AFter some experimentation, discovered the following:
Go to Quiz > Quiz Preferences. Under Settings, there is a
"Allow user to review quiz" check box. Under Pass or Fail, there is
an "Infinite attempts" check box. I had both of these unselected.
Here's what happens when you select or deselect one or both:
Review + 1 attempt: User starts to answer questions, and then
backs up. User can go forward again. Answered questions still
display the answers. Once reaches unanswered questions, they are
now locked.
Review + Infinite: User starts to answer questions, and then
backs up. User can go forward again. All answers to questions
erased and user can answer all questions.
No Review + 1 attempt: User starts to answer questions, and
then backs up. User can't go forward again. (This was the situation
encountered.)
No Review + Infinite: Same as Review + Infinite.

Question for music producers ! MacBook Pro and my audio interface from Virus Ti doesn't seem to work properly after I updated 10.9.4 Mavericks

Few days ago I upgraded my Macbook Pro to 10.9.4 Mavericks And I’m using the sound card from the Virus Ti for all audio in/out and when I’m not producing music , I usually close my Logic and I use the Virus Ti as a sound card for listening to Soundcloud or iTunes on my Mac and the audio usually come out of my studio monitors , but right now even when everything is connected , the sounds from the web site is coming out from my Macbook speaker instead of my studio monitors ? and I already checked the “Output/Input” in preference and is already say Access Virus Ti and I already repair disc too ! ,
Right now when I’m using Logic to produced with Virus sound card everything is working fine and the audio is coming out of my monitors but as soon as I turn off Logic to use Youtube or other web site, the audio automatic switch back to laptop speakers ?
If anyone had this problems with their audio interface and OS 10.9.4 , please advise !

Just got my iPod back from service...now what???

I was forced to send my iPod in to be serviced, due to the Folder/Exclamation Point Error.
I just got it back today. Now what? How can I make this iPod, which is not my old one, but a completely new iPOd, work with my iTunes?
All I really want are the songs I have on my computer to be loaded on to my iPod. Anyone know what I need to do?

Assuming you have a good connection you simply download and run the latest firmware updater from this site. Retore the iPod (which will format it for your PC) and then completely resync it with iTunes and you're good to go.

How to take control back from service error handler in osb

I am using osb to send data to multiple services at the same time.since x query is a procedural language if any single operation fails the flow goes to service error handler which calls a BPEL webservice and logs the error in a database but the control doesnt comes back to my code I have tried everything including RESUME,REPLY operations but all in vain similarly i cannot use service callout call to my business service because its not allowing to select my BPEL wsdl operation

If your statement "the control doesnt comes back to my code" means you expect that your xquery will continue in processing than your expectations are just too high. :-)
Resume action is supposed to resume the next action in the message flow. It means the action that follows the action which caused an error.
