Back to back printing in smartform

Hi All,
I have a smartform with only one page and i need to print back to back. When i set the printmode as D, it prints the first page only on the front and the next pages are printed back to back. Is it possible to print all the pages back to back ?

If u give 'D' it will print in duplex mode ony...
It also depends on printer settins...

Mulitple Handling units are to be printed, with every new handling unit to be printed on a new page and if the line items for a particular handling unit exceeds the page then it should be printed back to back.... PLease help it very urgent. points will be rewarded.....

go to basic settings an select print mode as "D" means duplex printing..now you will get back top back printing.

Petition to bring back "Print PDF" to InDesign

Would anyone else like to join a petition for bringing back "Print PDF" as an option in the InDesign Print menu?
I am on CS4 and my colleagues are on CS5 and they have no end of problems getting their PDFs the way they want them from the command near the Export options under FILE.
We work at a printers and in the end my colleagues come to me with CS4 to get the print ready files through to our RIP for making plates for litho printing.
The vital parts that are missing for CS5 is the option to choose the sheet size of the PDF and much more precise management of the colours and DPI/LPI.
We can't afford the latest kit for everything or to upgrade everything just because InDesign CS5 has lost a bit of functionality. I don't know what I'll do when it comes to my turn to upgrade and I know that there will be consequences for how we get our InDesign files through for printing. One big headache.
Why oh why oh why did Adobe decide to take this extra functionality away?

I assume you are referring to InDesign running on under MacOS.
(1)     Adobe never “took away” any ability to produce PDF via distillation of PostScript. In what was described by Apple as a security enhancement, Apple themselves disabled the ability of Adobe Acrobat to have an automated “print to Distiller” capability via the Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance on the Macintosh (this feature remains available under Windows). If you are going to complain to anyone, complain to Apple. This has nothing to do with a particular version of either InDesign or the Creative Suite, but rather, MacOS version.
(2)     You still can conceivably produce PDF via distillation of PostScript by producing a PostScript file and then either manually distilling it or using the “watched folder” capability to automate the process of distilling PostScript into PDF.
A “petition” isn't going to change anything in this regards.
However, even though production of PDF via distillation of PostScript is still available, albeit not quite as convenient, we would wonder why you believe that you need to produce PDF in that manner?
PostScript generated by InDesign is not optimized for creation of PDF, but rather for printing directly to a PostScript device. It is highly device dependent with no support of color management and live transparency. It is created for a specific page size, a specific device resolution, and a specific color space. The fonts are embedded in the PostScript file in a manner that is not conducive for high reliability PDF creation.
Adobe most strongly recommends that all PDF creation from InDesign be performed by the Export function in which PDF is directly generated from the InDesign document without any PostScript intermediary. This provides the ability to produce highly optimized, device independent PDF with full color management, live transparency, searchability, etc.
You state that the vital parts that are missing for CS5 is the option to choose the sheet size of the PDF and much more precise management of the colours and DPI/LPI. Sorry, but that doesn't make sense at all.
Regardless of the “page size” chosen for your InDesign document, you can effectively choose a different (larger, but not smaller, obviously) page size for the exported PDF by judicious use of the bleed and slug areas either as defined originally for the document or as overrides at PDF export.
In terms of color management, PDF export fully supports ICC color management and by selecting appropriate export joboptions (such as PDF/X-4), you can fully manage all colors (RGB, CMYK, LAB, and spot colors) through the rest of your workflow.
I am not quite sure what you mean by precise management of DPI/LPI, but neither for composite PostScript (which is what you would distill to get a composite color PDF file) nor for PDF export does InDesign support direct specification of screening parameters (what I assume you mean for DPI/LPI). If you print separations directly from InDesign to a PostScript device, yes, the InDesign Output Print dialog allows you to specify generic (not on an image by image basis) frequency and angle for each of the separations which results as setpagedevice parameters in the PostScript file (and subsequently ignored by the Distiller). And if in fact you are creating pre-separated PDF, you are really using a non-supported, strongly not-recommended workflow.
Assuming that you are using a composite color PDF workflow, separation colorant line frequency and angles is normally handled automatically by any modern-day RIP. If you are sending your PDF files directly to a RIP, this separation colorant line frequency and angle information is normally either set via JDF commands or via the RIP's operator console and/or job submission system and is not somehow extracted from the PDF file itself. Many RIPs totally ignore such information, especially if they use FM or proprietary screening techniques.

Canon iR2022i driver & front-back print

Dear Apple fans,
I've a problem with Canon iR2022i in my office, problems are driver and front back print.
I donwnloaded this driver: Mac_UFRII_Ver1020_04 from Australian Canon support website.
I add a Canon in systems preferences with IP but I can't print front & back, button is not active...
This features is important for print document in office.
Anybody could help me?

No back printing options

My company uses a Noritsu mini lab for much of our printing and lightroom is great for printing a single picture here and there and for batching printing a whole folder. But since lightroom sends each file to the printer unnamed the back printing just says lightr instead of the filename.
Does any one know a possible solution? I'd really like to keep using it..

If you have some workflow software for your Noritsu that supports hotfolders you could setup your back printing there and export a batch of files to the hotfolder.

Back to back printing for booklets

I am trying to print out a 40 page booklet, which i have made inDesign CS3. when i've eventually worked out how to get it to print out back to back, the crop marks don't line up on the back, is there anyway to make the settings the same for front and back printing. I have to manually feed my printer.

Chances are slim to none getting a book on a laser printer or copier to back up correctly with crops. Trial and error thing. You may want to sent the odd pages first, them flip the pile and nudge everything however much it's off.

Issue with character formats using duplex printing in smartform

Hi all,
I am getting a problem with character formats using duplex printing in smartform. I am using a text module with a bold character to display text in a window. The problem is that on the first back page,the text is being printed normally (without bold), but on the next pages, the back pages are being printed with the bold character format.
Can anyone know where is the problem..please.

Normally this should not happen.. and also there is no internal formatting done by SAP.. it will show based on what fomatting option we have specified..
If you are saying it is happening in ur case then
     1. Recheck whether whether you have same text module getting printed on the
         two page. If they are different then then individual check formatting option for
         each..
      2. If above point does'nt work for you ..then instead of bold char use normal
          format for text element and see if it is printing same on both page..
Try this out and let us know your findings...

Hi,
You can select Duplex printing in th epage properties of a page (D = Duplex)
The printer STARTS duplex printing from that page. This means that the printer triggers a pagefeed on that exact moment and starts printing on a new page. So when you have 1 page that stretches over more that one sheet of paper this means trouble. after every page the flow of the program starts a new Duplex print (thus feeding the current sheet and starts at a new page) this results in a new sheet of paper every page. this is not what you want.
You can solve this by creating 2 pages and set their respective NEXT PAGE to each other. Page 1 you set to DUplex, pagae 2 you leave blank..
But notice that when you select duplex printing most (if not all) printers start printing on the backside of the paper. When you use pre-printed (logo) paper, you will find that it prints the front on the back etc.
This can sometimes be corrected (if needed) by sending prescribe commands to the printer directly.

Problem in Printing the Smartform in Duplex

Dear Experts,
I had an issue in printing the Smartform in Duplex Page.
I had 4 windows in the Smartform, Which i had to print the Terms & Conditions. We have the Pages as
Page1
Page2
Page3
Page4.
In my case i had to print the Terms and Conditions at the back side of the Page1. I put the print mode as D for the First Page. and also i change the print settings. Like
Page1 --> D --> Terms
Terms --> ' ' --> Page1
Page2 --> ' ' --> Page1
Page3 --> ' ' --> Page3
Page4.--> ' ' --> Page4.
But unable to print the Terms & Conditions at the back side of Page1. Will you please help me if my query is wrong.

Printing a smartform to a different printer than my default

I have a function module that gets passes a delivery number and the short-name of a printer. The function module is supposed to print a smartform (pick list) for that delivery to the specified printer. The problem is that no matter what I put in for the printer, it prints to my default printer. If I change it, it will go there. I'm sure I'm just missing some kind of setting. Here is what I got:

I was able to solve my issue. The field TDIMMED (print immediate) in the parameter OUTPUT_OPTION need to be passed with the value 'X'.
The code is pasted below.

How to print multiple form for tag printing in smartforms

Dear Experts,
I am working on tag printing in smartforms .in tag printing i am showing
1.material no.
2.material descrption.
3.material doc no.
4.Quantity
5.supplier.
my requirement is that for example , if the mat. document no. has a material of 10,000.00 quantity , in tag printing it should come 1,000.00 of each tag and total no of tag should be 10. and it should come one after another .
and the page format size 8 x 6 cm. is it possible .if possible how ! how the system will know how many tag is to be printed . please reply its urgent.

Let me know. is the quantity 1000.00 is fixed? if so thn you can achieve the requirement.
For example:
There are A-material with 20000.00 quantity thn u can first divide the quantity with 1000.00
v_ex = 20000.00/1000.00=20.
thn you can repeat the print of the smartform for 20 times by passing the parameter to form fm.

Ukrainian text on preview is fine but gives junk char on print in smartform

HI All,
I am trying to print hardcoded ukrainian text in smartform. In preview it is coming correctly but while printing it gives some junk charecters.
During my analysis i found out that previously existing hardcoded text is coming fine on printing but it is showing different charecters(than the one on the printing) in smartform node and in print preview.

Do you use a device type that supports Cyrillic characters to create the spool and print? e.g. Device type SAPWIN, SAPWIN5 or Unicode device type SWINCF?
If you use a non-Unicode device type like SAPWIN or SAPWIN5, then the font used for these characters in the smartform should be a Cyrillioc font like COURCYR, HELVCYR or TIMECYR.
