Background color does not show in a design mode preview

Hi,
I installed Macromedia studio 8 a couple of days ago, and
started using Dreamweaver 8 with a "Missing Manual" book. I'm on
first chapter and following tutorial. It says to change a
background color to blue, and I did that. But this change was not
reflected in a design mode preview. I checked the code and it's
there. I viewed in an IE6, and it was there. My coworker installed
an evaluation version on his pc and it worked fine. I guess it's my
pc that has problem. I had IE7 and VS2005 on the pc when I
installed Macromedia 8. Due to help crash, I uninstalled IE7. It
did not solve the problem, so I uninstalled VS2005 and related
programs, and it did not solve the problem. I uninstalled and
reinstalled Dreamweaver 8 a couple of times, and it did not help.
Does anyone out there who have similar experiences, please share it
with me? I post this here before redo my pc. Thanks.

<shrug>
Without seeing code, it would be impossible to guess....

  • JProgressBar background color does not work in XP with JRE 1.4.2

    Hi,
    I am setting the background color of JProgressBar. While it used to work in 1.4.1, the background color does not show in 1.4.2 on XP. It looks like it has something to do with the XP L&F in 1.4.2. I am setting the L&F to systemlookand feel. Is anyone aware of anyworkaround for this? Setting the opaque property does not help either. I don't want to say swing.xp=false. We need the xp look and feel.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Sujatha.

    Actually I draw a blank looking into it a bit deeper. The Windows UI paintXPBackground method is private and the XPStyle class can not be accessed outside the package. I guess the reason for this is to protect the XP LAF from having the backgrounds changed etc.
    If it is important to you the source is available for you to replicate your own MyXPStyle class and then you would have to recreate the whole paintDeterminate methods in your MyProgressBarUI class. It would not be very future proof though.

  • Cell background colors are not showing in preview - help? - DW4

    Hi,
    I created a horizontal table for my menu bar, and gave each cell a different color by creating a separate class for each with background image - image is a block of color created in Photoshop. In design mode they look they way I want, but in preview (Safari) the colors don't show up at all - the whole area is gray, and all I see is the text for each cell. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Alternatively, is there a better way I can set this up to have different colors for each button?
    Thank you!

    Here is the HTML code, and the CSS code for the menu bar follows:

  • Why some times jdeveloper does not show a coreect design view ?

    Hi
    thank you for reading my post
    why jdeveloper does not show a correct design view of jsf pages sometimes?
    It does not shows labels and ... , just show tag names like : form , ... ?
    here is a picture for this :
    1-incorrect page:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/59086726@N00/217556594/
    2-correct page :
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/59086726@N00/217556595/
    I just closed and open the IDE and page designer shows incorrect pages
    thanks

    Also try this...go to the project properties for the View project. Look at the JSF Libraries and remove the two JSF libraries and then re-add them....this sometimes helps.

    How do I uninstall a program that is running in the background but does not show in Force Quit?

    Open Activity Monitor and look for the program.  Select it and Quit or Force quit it from within Acitiviy Monitor.
    Search for the application with Find Any File as it can search areas that Spotlight can't, like invisible folders, system folders and packages.  You can drag the app and any associated files from the search result window to the Trash bin in the Dock.

  • Header background color does not work

    Hi,
    I would like to change the background color of the header element, but it does not work as I imagined
    First of all, here is the HTML:
    <body>
    <div id="wraper">
      <header>
        <h1><span>Pacific</span> Coastal Highway</h1>
        <nav>
          <ul>
            <li>Home</li>
            <li>Big Sur</li>
            <li>Pfeiffer Beach</li>
            <li>Elephant Seals</li>
            <li>Morro Bay</li>
          </ul>
        </nav>
      </header>
      // ... some other HTML elements & content ...
    </body>
    So, within <header> element we have <h1> and <nav> elements, and within that <nav> element there is a list that is actually menu.
    Here it CSS code that refers to these elements:
    #wraper {
        width: 1200px;

    And, finally, here's how it looks:
    Now, I'd like to change the background color of the <header> element (to chage that white behind that <h1> and menu into some other color), so I just added the background color of the <header> element in CSS:
    header {
        background-color: #FF2D31;
    But, here is how it looks now:
    As you can see, although <nav> element with list (menu) is IN <header> element - the background color of <header> is just behind <h1> element.
    Do you know why it's happening, and what would be the best way to solve this problem?
    Thank you in advance.

    I'm trying to figure out what happened (and why) in my example, where the problem occurred, but...
    I tried with inspecting elements with Firebug - to see what's what in case when there isn't overflow:hidden property that is related to <header> element in this example from the first post:
    As you can see in the picture - <header> element is only that blue area containing <h1> element, and although <nav> element (with the <ul> element inside) is IN <header> element - it is not shown within the blue area, as it is not within <header> element.
    As for the <h1> element which is inside of the <header> element, when I select it - it looks like this:
    Now, purple area indicates the padding-top of <h1> element, and I guess that yellow area which indicates the margin is actually browser's default margin of the <h1> element.
    Next, confusing is when I select <nav> element:
    Although <nav> element is selected - there is no that blue area indicating where is that element on the web-page... ?
    Next, when I select <ul> element, there is only yellow area indicating margin -  I guess that yellow area which indicates the margin is actually browser's default margin of the <ul> element.
    When I select <li> element - it's the same case as with <nav> element there is no that blue area indicating where is that element on the web-page... ?
    Finally, when I select <a> element - it looks like this:
    All in all - inspecting all <header> element and the elements within it didn't help me to see what and why this is happening (with the background color of the header element). I think the problem is in me, I'll wait a few days and maybe then things become clearer in my mind
    Sorry for my bad English.
    Again, thank you all!

  • Muse 2014.2.1.10 - place of svg - not showing right in design mode but correct in browser

    Hi,
    I am trying to place an svg file as a stand alone object and I am not seeing it correctly in design mode at muse. It seems to add a black stripe at the bottom of the svg covering a significant amount of the svg image. When preview at the chrome browser it seems fine and also by using the preview in browser of muse.
    Any ideas?

    It is weird and kinda frustrating but it appears to be working now (partly). I still can't see the image in Design view but they are now showing up in the browser.
    I tested this using the following save settings in Illustrator (both worked this time, but when I tried originally both failed).
    Only difference between the two is the Responsive option.

    to show through. Seems fine in Firefox and IE7 but in IE6 for PC's,
    it appears black and only black. Is this a Spry bug or something I
    screwed up with regarding the CSS?

    I am having the same problems in IE7. I'm using the latest

    and at first I was having the problem on my drop down menus
    appearing horizontal with all the correct styles but when I changed
    the rule ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul to position: relative; the drop
    downs appear vertical now but I have no beige border around the
    whole ul anymore and I'm getting white space inbetween list items.

  • Finder does not show EPS PICT or TIF previews in column view in 10.4

    It seems in the upgrade between 10.3 and 10.4 they dropped the ability to see the low res PICT or TIF image that is stored in the EPS file. In other apps, InDesign, Quark I can see it in column view open dialogue box but no such luck with Finder windows.
    I have seen the question on a few other forums but there has been no satisfactory answer to this question. I can't just use AI files and make them PDF compatible either, which is what I have been hearing as a common workaround. As of now I have been using EPSwizard:
    http://www.jolauterbach.com
    It used to be free but now it is a pay version. If anyone wants the older free app reply to me and I can give it to you. It is a decent solution until I can find someone who knows how to tweak the finder to see these again.
    My best guess that Mac didn't want to show a low res image in their pretty OS so they deep 6'ed it in the 10.4 version. I am pretty sure that it is just not reading the resource/data fork where that image is contained. It would make my life so much more enjoyable if I didn't need to load an app everytime I want to see what an EPS file looks like inside.
    If anyone can clue me in on a tutorial on how to change this let me know.
    Power Mac G5 1.6GHz Single   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    These files are EPS files not image files. They have a TIF or PICT preview inside the file, I believe in the resource or data fork of the file. The file extension is EPS, and I cannot change that, just type the letters. The actual extension, the 4 digit one, that is invisible is the one that is important. In the case of EPS the actual extension is EPSF or EPSI.
    Just to try the fix I changed the name and it did try to make a preview, but it came up with nothing. It was blank in column view. The OS still reads it as an EPS regardless of the change in file extension.
    Anyone have some answer that involves a command line, I think that is really going to be the only thing that solves this one.

    I have placed the same image in Illustrator and the PDF does show up the image.

    Ooh. Ok. Thank you! I'm using InDesign CS5.5, Acrobat 10.1.6. Mac OSX (10.6.8).
    Layer 1: background (TIFF): does not show up
    Layer 2: Type and logos (EPS): do show up in my pdf.
    -When I select Overprint Preview in Indesign the background is missing.
    -I have created pdfs in different presets (smallest, high quality, etc) and still background does not show up.
    -When I place ONLY the background on a new InDesign document, it does show up in the PDF.
    -I have created a pdf with the background in Illustrator and it does show in my PDF.
    Thanks!

  • My Book does not show up in the iBooks Store.

    Hi Gang;
    My latest eBook: Light Shadows & Color does not show up when I search for it the iBoosk store.  It is under the catagory Photography.  But when I seach for it under photography it does not show up. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?
    Thanks;

    Depends  on how long it  has been in the store. Have you tried search  by authors name - as  you entered it in iTunes Producer when uploading?

  • When filtering by keyword and using "Edit In" with Photoshop, edited file does not show up in list

    When I do an "edit in" using CS5 and save it, the edited file does not show up in my LR4 preview window.
    Message title was edited by: Brett N

    There are two distinct modes by which Edit In... may first open an image into PS: as a fully pre-converted rendered file; or as an on-the-fly converted image in memory.
    (When LR opens a PS-edited image a second time into PS, using "Edit Original", the former option is always used.)
    In the latter case, it is ACR which does this on-the-fly conversion, working from the original image (as imported into LR) plus your subsequent LR adjustment metadata. This means ACR compatibility with LR becomes an issue - as it is not, with the pre-rendered file option.
    There is a useful clue to which mode is being used:
    the title of the PS document window, in the case of the on-the-fly conversion, still shows the name of the Raw file (or whatever) that you started with in LR... no file has been saved as yet, to say any different. You can Save or Save as, wherever and under whatever name, and from now on LR will look there for your edited image. Or if you close unsaved, LR has no edited image to show at all.
    the title of the PS document window in the pre-rendered case, is the name of a file already saved on disk and already showing in LR. If you then saved this elsewhere, you would merely make a duplicate which LR cannot know about - and if this duplicate is the one which contains your PS work, LR will accordingly not show that. It is busy showing the content of the specific file that was passed to PS.
    So, if inside CS5 your document is called something like IMG23334.dng - you can save it wherever you like. If inside CS5 your document is called something like IMG23334-edit.tif - you will have to save your changes back to that exact same file, in order for them to be seen in LR.

  • Finder does not show all colors from selected color Labels

    Since a view days finder does not show all Color Label colors. When I select either yellow or green it is selected, but it does not show in the file list with details, I can see it in icon and 3 pane view, but not in the detail list view.
    does anybody know why or how? Or what plist files I might need to delete to get this reset?

    Create a new account, name it "test" and see how your labels work in that User acct in list view? (That will tell if your problem is systemwide or limited to your User acct.) This account is just for test, do nothing further with it.
    Open System Preferences >> Accounts >> "+" make it an admin account.
    Let us know and we'll troubleshoot this further.

  • PhpBB2 source code does not show in design view /CS3

    I would like to customize a php bulletin board.
    The default bulletin board page does not show in design view.
    Is there a way to do it , such that php code can be written
    by DreamWeaver via the design view ?

    > The files I am trying to edit, or that is think I should
    be trying to edit ,
    > are
    > index.php , and in the includes file template.php
    If I am sorting this out correctly, which i am _not_ sure of
    at the moment:
    those aren't .tpl files.
    they are .php files, and are part of the forum. They aren't
    displaying in
    design view because they are all php.
    You need to find and edit the template files.
    In previous link given:
    http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=10764
    <q>
    So where do I find these great 'templates'?
    Look in /templates/subSilver (thoroughout the FAQ I will be
    using subSilver,
    the default template. If you are using a different template
    then change the
    folder you look in accordingly). You will see a collection of
    files there.
    The templates are the ones with the file extension '.tpl' The
    majority of
    files in that folder are .tpl files. </q>
    strongly suggest you make a backup copy of anything you try
    to touch.
