Backlight always on?

When the iPod is plugged in, the back light ALWAYS stays on, does it? That's terribly annoying. There is no hidden option i'm missing anywhere, am I? My 5th gen iPod (which also wins my prize for best designed) never did that, and I liked it that way.

Thanks for the response. Now, a small follow up question. When i'm at home or at work, I ALWAYS have my iPod connected to the computer. That means it's connected upwards of 10 hours a day. Will this affect it at all? It seems like an awful long time to have the display lit up (and for no good reason).

My new MacBook Pro Retina keyboard backlight always on under room light?
I've to turn it off manually.
But if under sunlight, it doesn't lit which means the ALS is working, may be just not that sensitive enough under ML.
    ML problem ?
I saw those display set at retail is working under room light but running Lion not ML.
Is ML really have problem ?
Should I reverse to Lion ?

No need to revert back to Lion.
May be resetting SMC will help.

  • IPod (60 gig video)  w/Backlight always on

Will having the backlight always on damage or reduce the life of my iPod? I use it at work in a cradle with AC power 10 hours a day, and would prefer to have the backlight always on ....
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

When it is in the dock it does not use the battery. My wife leaves her back light on in her dock 24 hours a day and has had it like that for almost a year. You should not have a problem. I would recommend not leaving it on when you take it out for portable use. That will drain the battery fairly quickly.

Hi i got a problem with my nokia 6280. The blacklight is always on. Even when i turn it off the black light stills on.Frimeware version is v06.43. any got any ide whate i could be?

the fact that the back light is on even with the phone turned off is disturbing. anyway, remove the battery, that should turn the backlight off, wait for few seconds and then replace the battery back, don't turn te phone on,  check to see if the backlight turns on again, if it did , then it's most propaly a hardware defect that should be checked by a nokia care point. if on the other hand the backlight stayed off, and the problem appeared only after you turned on the device for the first time, then i think you should reinstall your firmware and check again, if problem persisted after firmware reinstallation/update then take the phone to the nearest nokia care point.

  • Ipod BackLight Always On When When On Dock

I have ipod touch and it works perfectly on my white dock on my desk. The back light is off when not in use..Stays on the desk the whole day..
I bought another dock with the 5th Generation Ipod..
But one problem the backlight is on all the time saying connected.. I dont need to know this at all. I just want the light to be off when connected to computer but on when in use..
I think this feature needs to be added to next firmware asap...Whats the issue..

Generally, the backlights on 5th generation iPod stay ON, although at their lowest setting, when "actively" connected to iTunes. However, by "actively" I mean when it is actually doing something like syncing but this also includes enabling disk mode on the iPod where the iPod stays mounted as an external drive.
So, if you do not enable disk mode, it should light up when connected and syncing but then lights off when it is done and the iPod will revert back to showing the main iPod menu. If however you have backlight enabled, then the iPod will show the Do Not Disconnect text and stay "active" with backlight on until ejected. Solution is to disable disk mode if you don't need it enabled all the time.

  • Any Creative Players with a Persistent Backlight ("Always On") Featu

    Hello All,
I am interested in finding an MP3 Player which will allow me to turn the backlight on all the time so that I may see the current time index while songs are playing. I've seen other people suggest this while searching this forum, but cannot confirm that any of the Creative Players has this option. My coworkers use this feature on their iPods, but I would prefer to buy a creative player.
Does anyone know if there is a player from Creative which allows me to leave the backlight on at all times while songs are playing?
    Thanks!

    Welcome chrislamartin
By default, press Fn+Space will either turn off or on the backlit keyboard. You will see a backlit logo on the space button.

  • Ipod classic 5G backlight turns off when in dock even when set to 'always on'-any ideas?

I have just inherited an Ipod classic 5G from my son. It all works fine except when I put it into my Ruark audio dock when the backlight then switches off and so I cannot see the tracks. I have it set to backlight always on. I have tried waking it up but it still stays dark. It is fine if I use it with the jack connection on all my other systems. Is this a common problem or am i doing something wrong or can it be got round?? This is my first attempt with an ipod so I am a bit of a novice!

Thanks brody, I do have that option checked. I was just wondering if there was some way via command line or something that things could be modified so that the Mac never turns the NIC off at all, or never tells it to enter into "low power" state.
The more I read, the more I realize this may not be possible.

  • Backlight Turns On Every Time I Touch the Wheel....

I recently had to restore my 2 year-old Mini due to issues with skipping songs.
Now that it's restored, the backlight comes on every time I touch the wheel. The backlight is set for 20 seconds, so that setting is taken care of.
Is there another setting that says "Always use the backlight", or something like that? I trolled the menus and found nothing.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Well, I do not exactly understand what you want the backlight to do, but here ya go:
Go to Settings>Backlight>check out the options. The timers show how long the backlight will stay on when the click wheel is touched. After that time, it goes off, and the next time you touch it, the backlight comes back on. I believe at the bottom of that list is a Backlight Always on choice. Select that if you want the backlight to always be on (except when the iPod is turned off, of course). At the top of the list is a Backlight Off button. Select that if you want the backlight to remain off, unless you turn it on (Hold the Menu button, or you can select this from the Settings menu).
    I hope this helps!

  • Sudoku makes backlight revert to 10 sec

On my iPod classic 80GB I like to keep my backlight "always on", but whenever I run Sudoku, the backlight reverts to 10 seconds. What's up with that?
I upgraded to the newer version of Sudoku (your welcome Apple/EA) and upon noticing this problem, performed a "Restore" to no avail.

  • Keyboard Backlight Settings have no effect vaio Control Center

I have a Sony laptop, model SVE14A35CXH, and my backlit keyboard does work, it's just that the settings in Vaio Control Center, under Keyboard Backlight, the settings for that have no effect on the actual keyboard backlight. I make the setting to never turn on, for both on battery and plugged in, the keyboard still comes on when a key is pressed. I change the setting to turn on in low light, turn off after 60 seconds, it always turns off after 15.  Any time I change the backlight settings, the actual keyboard backlight always turns on in low light conditions, and always turns off after 15 seconds if a key is not pressed. The settings have no effect on what the backlight does. Help would be appreciated.

    Hi Derp-Derpinson,
Are you using a retail version of Windows? You mentioned before that you did a complete fresh install of Windows 8. Please follow the troubleshooting guidelines below:
Power Cycle - remove the battery and all peripherals -> press and hold the power button for 5 seconds. This will drain the electricity of the unit. Check again the backlight.
    Reset BIOS.
Make sure that these drivers are installed or updated: (Sony® Firmware Extension Parser Device Driver, Sony® Shared Library, Hotkey Utilities). You may go to eSupport to download the drivers.
You may also reinstall Vaio Control Center.
    Hope these work.
    Regards,
    Vincent

  • Broken Backlight, reactivated with a push to the screen.

After a speedy replacement of my old nano (half a broken screen); I received what looks like a brand new nano. Unfortunately, after taking the nano of hold the backlight didn't come on. I checked all the settings and was able to play songs. I decided to gently push the screen and was surprised to see the backlight come on as if the screen was a button itself. It has continued to do this all day. Once the backlight dims to the dark screen the only way to revive the backlight is to push the screen itself...
I'm guessing this isn’t normal but I thought I'd ask before I requested for another one.
    Thanks

    Go to settings-->backlight-->always on.
    Does it turn on?
If not, then you will need to get it serviced
But no, that is not normal.

  • Zen Vision:M Backlight on while playing mp

Hi,?Have a Zen Vision:M, 30gig with firmware v..50.02. In display settings I have the 'backlight time' set to 5 seconds however when I'm playing mp3s the backlight always stays on. After the 5 seconds it just dims to a very slow setting. Is this normal? Many thanks!

Hi Guys,?The player is supposed to kill the screen,? not just dim it as this will kill the battery life!!? Apparently the older .3 firmware did this ,? but the newer versions only DIM the screen.............. Not good. Creative needs to address this bug!!!

  • Pausing iTunes Turning Off Keyboard Backlight

got a new MacBook Pro recently and just now noticing something pretty odd...
whenever I pause a song in iTunes, be it by pressing spacebar while the application is active, hitting the actual button in iTunes, or using the shortcut keys on the keyboard itself, the keyboard backlighting always cuts off. it comes back on at random intervals, and sometimes not all.
I've even tired re-installing iTunes. it's a pretty odd problem, heh...
    any ideas?
    thanks!

Is it doing it like this?:

    If so, see this:

I'm guessing you too have the "iSpazz" plugin installed in your iTunes folder. If so remove it and your problem will be fixed. as far as I know, there is no way to keep the plug in in there without causing this problem. Its a pain, but the only way I found is to put the plug in in there when I want to show off the keyboard, and take it out when I'm done.
    Hope this helps

  • Backlight on during workout

I'm using a ipod nano 5g with nike+. When I'm running I like to see my pace and my heart rate. I've put the option for backlight to always on, but after a few minutes the backlight goes out and the screen goes dark. Should it do that?
Another question is if it is possible to only have the backlight always on in combination with nike+, but else turn it off after a couple of seconds. That way when I'm running I can watch on my ipod and the other times it saves energy. Now I have to do that manually.

    try the following
Dial *#7780# and enter your security code when prompted. It'll be the default 12345 unless you've changed it.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Keyboard Backlight Query

Ok, this is going to sound like a stupid question... But is the rMBP (mid-2014) keyboard backlight supposed to come on at startup?
The reason I ask is that I've recently been playing around with stuff on my system and during a restart, my keyboard backlights didn't come on immediately at startup (i.e. when you have to choose between your user account or a guest account). I'm pretty sure the backlights always used to be on at this point but now they're not and only come on once I've entered my password and logged in.
Any current rMBP owners care to check this for me?! I know it's hardly a major issue but I'm slightly OCD about stuff like this and it's driving me nuts trying to remember if it's now different than before!
    Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion but it's not that I'm afraid. My backlight is set to auto and isn't all the way down.
From a little browsing of old threads it seems that last year lots of people were having this problem when they upgraded to Yosemite an and discovered that turning off Firevault corrected it. Obviously I'm not going to sacrifice my encryption for the sake of keyboard backlighting but if possible I'd like both!
Thing is, I've had Firevault activated for months and I'm pretty certain my backlight was working at the logon screen right up until today... Anyone else care to comment? Does your MBP keyboard light up prior to entering your password at login?
Oh, one post I saw actually claimed that the light wasn't supposed to work with Firevault enabled because everything is 'locked down'. Not sure about that but willing to be proven wrong.
