Backup blog and wiki

Hi, we just installed os x server 10.5.8 on a G5 this week.
everything is how we want it to be so i made a carbon copy clone of the hard drive in case something corrupts our system. now we use Retrospect 6 to back up all our files and i can automate the backups and just need to pop in a dvd every once in a while to burn the data. but now since the wiki and blog is something that will change everyday on our server we want to back up that as well! but what files or folders must i archive? is it only the /library/webserver that i back up or are there other important files to check???
thanks

You should backup these two directories:
/Library/Collaboration/
/Library/Application Support/Apple/Wikiserver
Of course, if you've changed the default data store for wiki data from /Library/Collaboration, you'll want to back that up instead.

  • What happened to my blog and wiki theme?

I recently moved the Data Store of /Server/WebSite/Collaboration from my internal hard drive to a NAS. noticed though that when I access my wikis and blogs, the themes are no longer present. that is, every web page is just black text against a white background. The themes (are they CSS files?) which provide a nice banner and background are missing,so the text formatting is off as well.
In Server Admin : Web > Settings > Web Services, I selected as my default theme, Block Green Books, but no matter which theme I select they seem to have no effect.
Can someone tell me where the themes (CSS files) are located so that I can make sure that they are accessible for my wikis and blogs?
    Thanks.

Did you backup your iPad before you updated the iPad? You should have done so. Always backup before you update and backup on a regular basis as well. Of you did backup before you updated, your bookmarks and reading list should be in the backup, restore from the backup and they should return.

  • Users cannot access blogs and wikis

None of the users administered in WorkGroup Manager (our students) have access to the wiki I created for them or log in to their 'my page'. Settings:
    - This wiki can be read and edited by anyone
    - Users must log in to write
    - Only the following users and groups can write (with the group of students in question entered)
What settings, in ServerAdmin or elsewhere, could I possibly be forgetting to adjust? Firewall, access, filesharing?
    Thanks for any leads!
    Adriaanh

NB: The issue affects new blogs/wikis as well as previously existing blogs/wikis, and new users as well as existing users. There is only adminstrator access.
    Help is greatly appreciated.

  • 10.5.7 update Wiki, blog, and Calendar stopped working

I'm running 10.5.7 server and like a noob, I updated without giving others a chance to figure out what problems might arise from this monster. My server is a live machine and unfortunately I sorta need this working ASAP.
Now that I've updated, none of my web services work. The basic site works, but the wiki/blog thing says there's no available groups. In workgroup manager, when I select a group (Library in this case), I want to be able to enable wiki and blog and Web Calendar. They're grey because now the "Enable the following services for this group on: (None)" is selected. When I click on the 'None' button there's no option to choose my community site.
In Server Admin, when I select "Web", then select my site. Then click, Web Services... Wiki and blog is checked. Also, the access list is blank, as it's always been...
Here's a look at the most recent error in my /Library/Logs/wikid/error.log before today, I'd never seen anything like it...

Any thoughts why 10.5.7 update would do this?

*edit* One more thing. When I select a user in WGM and click 'Advanced', then enable calendaring, I can't select a calendar host. There's no items in the list like there was before. It hyst says 'No Calendar Host Selected'. Again, this is enabled in the web services in Server Admin. Help!

    Server Admin -> web
select the website in question, make sure it is checked as enabled
Server Admin -> web -> Web Services
make sure the users/groups that require access are displayed, otherwise click and add them
    Check Wiki and Blog
    etc...
    save
    Workgroup Manager -> Groups Icon
    Select the correct group
Select the website that you want (www.your_domain.com) from the popup menu where it says : Enable the following service...
    Check Wiki and Blog
    etc...
    save
    Server Admin -> web
    Stop
    Start
    That should do it...
If you try to access the wiki on localhost it won't work, you need to go to the actual domain
    http://www.your_domain.com
on an intranet if you are using private dns you can create a test website for example
    DNS -> your-server-name.mac.private. -> 192.168.1.150
and you select the correct private site, you can
http://your-server-name.mac.private and you should see it fine
    Best of luck...

  • How to deploy the Wikis, Blogs and Discussions Sample Portlets ?

    Hi all,
I'm trying to deploy Wikis, Blogs and Discussions Sample Portlets located at
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/webcenter/release11_demos.html (the demo at the bottom).
I've successfully, deployed the portlet to WebCenter Portlet service using JDeveloper 11.1.1.2.0.
And I've successfully register the porlet proivder in 11g Portal.
However, when I added the portlet to a new page, it returns error
"Error: Could not get markup. The cookie or session is invalid or there is a runtime exception".
I've recreated the page and refresh the screen. But still got the error.
    Anyone know what's going wrong?
    Thanks!
    Larry

I found that the sample code has hard coded the WikiRemoteService to be
    http://localhost:7001/owc_wiki/services/WikiRemoteService
Our environment use another port. After chaning the port number, both interfaces of Wiki and Blog (I just added the two portlets in to a Portal 11g Page) could be loaded. Also, I can create blog, blog entry, add comment via the Blog interface.
However, Wiki portlet seems not working properly. The request I submit via the interface (e.g. show wiki) returns me error
"The service does not appear to be responding. Please enter a valid url."
    Anybody has idea?
    Thanks.

  • Wiki Server "blogs and tags"

I think the "more" menu item is ridiculous.
There are only two items there (blog and tags).
I don't see why those two links can't be listed along with the other main navigation links (Home, Activity, Documents).
Even worse, this actually makes it all but impossible for people to (easily) find the blog and blog updates.
    Does anybody have any suggestions?

    I play with this file
    /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/usr/share/collabd/coreclient/config /initializers/register_apple_plugins.rb
I have been able to remove menu items that I don't want.  You might want to try changing the order of them (I have not tried this)
What I have done is also changed the main menu so one of the links is the calendar.  The other thing I did was diable people but when you click on the icon above my name it goes to a wiki instead.  If the wiki of the user does not exist then kicks you to a page "file not found"  or if you do not have access you cannot see it.
I wanted the people pages options without the security problems.
Just remember for the changes to take effect you have to stop and start the wiki.  To edit the file I will copy it on the desktop and then once finished copy it back.  Keeping a copy of the original is also a good idea.

  • To the apex team (wiki, blog and ask the expert)

    Dear fellows,
Can you give an indication when wiki, blog and/or ask the expert applications will be available.
    I'm looking forward ......
    Best regards.
    Leo

I was able to do this by logging in with FTP. I deleted contents of the "Collaboration" folder, restarted and set up my sites. It all worked like new.

  • Blog or Wiki applications built using APEX

I have been tasked with finding a ready-made solution that we can use as a developers' scrapbook where development team members can store useful hints/tips, code samples, coding standards etc etc
An APEX solution would be best (something similar to Carl Backstrom's APEX demo app, maybe) since it's familiar territory and it would keep the sys admins happy - but I'm open to other solutions.
A non-APEX solution would have to be Windows based, with no server-side requirements.
I quite like TiddlyWiki (http://www.tiddlywiki.com) but it's not multi-user. There is a 'groupauthoring' plugin for it (http://tiddlywiki.bidix.info/) but it requires use of Ruby scripts on the server.
Online blogs like blogspot would be great, but The Business wants to keep everything in-house.
So, has anyone built a blog or wiki-type application using APEX that they would be willing to release 'into the wild'? Or is there another solution that I've missed ...
    Cheers
    Richard

    Hello,
Here is an example of the beginnings of the wiki application, to edit add a subject just login it uses open credentials,
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=2757:709
the code as it stands here can be downloaded here (it differs slightly from the demo version as i've actually done some dev work on it)
    http://oracle-apex.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/oracle-apex/wiki/
Feel free to download add critic etc, I defiantly am still looking for someone that knows regex really well it would help greatly speed development along.
There will be movement on this and the forum application as I finally have a bit of time to work on these again, of course anyone that wants to help is greatly appreciated.

  • Forum and wiki document configuration

    hello everybody,
it's so hard find on line documents about forum and wiki configuration.
    Does anybody have direct link?
it's possible configurate the port? we published the site on internet but the wiki and forum pages don't appears. seems there are working in port 8073.
    hope to have some suggestion
    thanks
    Alex

"Wiki documents" are a feature of Document Service. This is why Yannick complained that the name is a bit confusing.
There is also a "Wiki", which allows you to create/maintain wiki pages.
say if i want to customise it then what do i need to do and more importantly i want the steps to use document task flowsWhat do you want to customize? If you search Yannick's site there are also blog articles on how to customize task flows.
If you want to just use them, you can go ahead without customizations - I'd recommend to get familiar first what OOTB task flows can do for you. I guess for your use case they should be sufficient.

  • Bit Confused choosing either Blog or Wiki

    Dear folks,
I would like to share a scenario related to SAP ABAP.. This will be my first post.. Earlier along with my friend i posted a white paper. I am bit confused whether to put that in a Blog or Wiki. I have gone through the links understanding both the Wiki and Blog but then wanted to know your opinion..
Please correct me if i am wrong in choosing either Wiki or Blog to post my scenario.I need your valid suggestions.
    Regards,
    Nagaraj

If you create a Wiki, then the content can be edited by other user. If you dont want others to edit  your content then post it as blog not wiki.

  • Implement a blog and discussion forum using weblogic portal

    Hi All,
Has anybody implemented blog and discussion forum using weblogic portal or oracle web center?
    What are the best options?
    Thanks
    Ananth

As far as I remember, Web Center have these Portlets BUT I guess the backend application server for them was Oracles Application Server. So you may end up using WebCenter with Oracle App Server for these Blogs, Forums Portlet. But the latest release of WebCenter kind of supports on Weblogic Server as backend app server. See this bottom link and click on More Info " + " icon next to WebCenter Suite and see Required Software section.
http://database.in2p3.fr/doc/oracle/Oracle_Application_Server_10_Release_3/webcenter.1013/b31074/jpsdg_jive.htm (Uses Oracles OC4J App Server)
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/middleware/htdocs/fmw_11_download.html?rssid=rss_otn_soft
I know WebCenter does have Beehive Services for Forums, Blogs, Wikis, but not sure if they have Portlets for these Services. Check in WebCenter Forums and post this question there.
    Thanks

  • I have been using Safari for years and have always kept it on "private." Starting two days ago, I suddenly found myself unable to log onto my blog and many other sites that I normally log onto when private is set. Why?

I have been using Safari for years and have always kept it on "private." Starting two days ago, I suddenly found myself unable to log onto my blog and many other sites that I normally log onto when private is set. This so annoying, I just switched to Firefox. I don't like Firefox nearly as much as I like Safari. What is happening? How do I fix the problem?
    Thank you.

Might be a corrupted database ...
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • I have a clickfree backup drive and don't know how to restore my previous bookmarks? I tried to copy the places.sqlite file from the backup drive to my compute

I have a clickfree backup drive and my computer crashed. I restored it to factory settings and reinstalled Firefox but cannot figure out how to get my old bookmarks back. I tried to replace the new places.sqlite file with the one I had on my backup drive but still got nothing? I tried to use the restore option but it won't take the old places.sqlite file. Is there anyway to get my old bookmarks? I'm really not a techy person.....
    Thanks

    Bookmark Backups
Type '''about:support''' in the address bar and press enter.
Under the page logo on the left side you will see '''Application Basics.'''
Under this find '''Profile Folder.''' To it’s right press the button
'''Show Folder.''' This will open your file browser to the current
    Firefox profile. Now '''Close Firefox.'''
Enter the '''bookmarkbackups''' folder. This is where Firefox makes backups
of your bookmarks. Look for the '''jsonlz4''' file you want to restore
(check the time / date / size). Right click on that file and select '''Copy.'''
Now go back to the profile folder where you started. Rename the file
