Hi Alpesh,
I have read the post , and its quiet useful..What i need to know more about it is I need to give the Path for my External Tape Drive.
I have defined the type as Tape.
backup device type
[tape | tape_auto | tape_box | pipe | pipe_auto | pipe_box | disk
| disk_copy | disk_standby | stage | stage_copy | stage_standby
| util_file | util_file_online | rman_util | rman_disk | rman_stage
| rman_prep]
default: tape
backup_dev_type = tape
I have to define the Path how can i tell the system to backup to Extrenal tape drive.
backup root directory [<path_name> | (<path_name_list>)]
default: $SAPDATA_HOME/sapbackup
backup_root_dir = $SAPDATA_HOME/sapbackup
Thanks

  • Cisco Prime 2.1 Backup Device Configuration

    Hi
Does anybody knows how I can change the credential of a group of devices to archive all the running configuration?
And other question is where this configuration is stored?
    Thanks for your help
    regards

The Bulk update option has been started with PI 2.0.
You can either streamline or change the information on the devices, or if you have another set of credentials for a different subnet, you could add that to the CLI section of the discovery profile and rerun the discovery. If you have a handful of changes, you can click the devices with a status of Managed with Warning and then click the Edit button to modify the credentials.
With Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0, there is now an ability to export devices with credentials directly from the GUI. Navigate to Operate > Device Work Center and you should be able to see the “Export Device” button as shown in following figure:
At that point in time, you can export the device credentials, change them using a spreadsheet application, and import them back.
TIP: If you need to change the credentials for devices in bulk, this method can be used to do that.
    Importing Devices Manually
If you maintain a spreadsheet that has all the devices and would rather get started with that, you do have this option in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0. If you to go Operate > Device Work Center > Bulk Import, you get an import pop-up as shown in the figure below:
The configuration is stored in the oracle DB in various table and indexes. Unfortunately, it doesnt allows to see that configuration from the server directory. But you can manage and view from CPI GUI.
    -Thanks

  • Configure backup device in SAP(DB13)

I have installed the ECC 6.0 with SQLServer 2005 ,now I want to
configure the backup device in it. I am using external hdd for backup.
Please suggest me how to configure backup device in SAP(DB13) and
    database level.
where I have to set the parameters for backup device.
    Thanks

    Hi..
You need to configure initSID.sap inside Kernel.
Choose backup device type to disk
    backup_dev_type = disk
    and change backup root directory
    backup_root_dir = < Your_External_HDD_adress>
    e.g. G:/backup/
    Hope it should work....

  • How to configure backup device

    Hii,
I have fresh install 4.7 with sql 2000 database . I want to take backup of my database in other drive . how i will configure this drive .
    thanks & regards
    jagdish

    hi,
you want to take backup using DB13 or from SQL server enterprise manager,
if you want to take backup on network drive the drive must be map and accessible through windows.
configure backup devices on MS SQL Server management Studio,
logon to SQL server management Studio,
under object explorer navigate through server object -> backup devices
create new backup device -- destination file type. give path for your network drive backup folder.

  • Device configuration backup

    hi all
if you have many network devices like 1000 in your network !!
is there a solution where you backup the configuration of each device regularly !? and store them in specific folder !?
I am looking for such a robust solution whether from cisco or third party provider !
    thanks,

    Hi,
If you have a monitoring system, they usually have a module for backing up configs from all devices.
I know SolarWinds has this capability.

  • AnyConnect Client Profile Backup Server Configuration

I'm trying to understand the use of Backup Server option in AnyConnect Client Profile
Configuration > Remote Access VPN > Network (Client) Access > AnyConnect Client Profile > Edit > Backup Server
    (Screenshot attached)
    My questions:
    1. In what all scenarios do we add servers (ASA devices) in this tab
    2. If I have same information in two different locations (Site A and Site B) for AnyConnect user, can I add Site A-ASA and Site B-ASA into Backup Server tab as a failover mechanism for end user.
    3. Or is it only used to mention ASA devices configured in failover unit
    4. In case of failover unit, does it support stateful failover
I could not find answers to above questions from Google search. So, asking here

I think we need to be careful when we talk about failover. The original post was clearly asking about two different scenarios
    1) ASAs at two different sites
    2) ASAs configured as a High Availability failover pair (Active/Standby).
The profile does work to provide failover in 1) but does not work to provide failover in 2).
I do not know the authoritative answer to the question about IP phones use of the profile. I believe that the answer ought to be that yes the phone would receive the profile after its first connection and would use the backup server identified in the profile is the primary server was not available. That is a basic functionality of the AnyConnect client and if the phone is using the AnyConnect client then it ought to support that failover.
If someone does have an authoritative answer then please speak up. Several of us would like to know the right answer here.

  • Backup aborted - Configuration Backup Failes

Over the past couple of days, I've started getting the Error "Backup aborted - Configuration backup failed" on 3560/2960 switches and 2900/2800 routers.  Pretty much everything at my primary site and a few devices, but not all, at some of my clients.  What's odd to me is that the devices with the backup failures now have a greyed out "Backup Now" button.  Again that doesn't apply to all, but most devices.

    Hi Shawn,
We saw this same behavior this morning with a test ON100 in the lab. The ON100 may need to run through it's normal scheduled nightly maintenance window before the driver tries the backup and then subseqeuntly enables the Backup Now button within the portal. Please take a look at this customer again on Monday and let us know if the backup succeeded, and if the Backup Now button becomes available again. We are looking into what it will take to issue a fix, as a contingency plan, or until a fix can be deployed, we are looking into controlled periodic monthly reboots of all ON100 which might mitigate issue by clearing the /tmp ramdisk on the devices.

What happen to intall Mavericks of my case? Please HELP! THANKS!

If you want to preserve the data on the boot drive, and it's not already backed up, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is not fully functional. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    1. Boot from the Recovery partition or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    2. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

  • Getting Error while creating device configuration (Schema Node ref problem)

    Hi,
    In MDM 2.0.1, I created the following(in order) :
    1.UOM
    2.Measuring Component Type
    3.Device Configuration Type
    4.Service Provider
    5.Device Type
    6.Device
But when trying to Configure the created Device, its showing some error as...
Schema node isNewCase (/schema/[includeDA F1-CommonToDoEntryData]/isNewCase) references non-existent service field NEW_CASE_SW.
After this has happened, i couldn't even add another configuration to some of my Existing Devices..
(But for Some existing devices, adding a new configuration doesn't throwing errors..)
    Please help regarding this...

Is the Measuring Component Type u created is added in DeviceType's ConfigType list..?

    hello,
i getting the following error message in event id while backing up my SQL db by third party backing tool
BackupVirtualDeviceFile::RequestDurableMedia: Flush failure on backup device 'CA_BAB_MSSQL_e85860_10001_2085d987_ERP_DATABASE_ST_1'. Operating system error 995(The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request.).
<Data>995(The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request.)
    please suggest the solution.

    Hi pulkit,
According to your description, the actual error could be caused by but not limited to the following issues: Memory issues, Third Party issues, or SQL Server issues and so on. However, as shanky post, if you use an external or third party backup tool like
NetBackup, BackupExec, or one of the many other tools available for backing up SQL Server databases without having to write your own backup scripts, and the error occurs. You need to check if there are some issues about your VDI or SQLVDI.DLL. Meanwhile,
you also need to troubleshooting Memory Issue or the third tool issue. For more information about troubleshooting the error 995 when backing up database via the third party tool. You can review the following blog.
    https://support.software.dell.com/kb/SOL14674
In addition, the error may include additional text from the operating system indicating that the disk is full. When performing a backup or restore operation with third-party backup software an additional message may occur indicating that the backup failed.
Perform the following tasks as appropriate:
     1. Review the underlying system error messages and SQL Server error messages preceding this one to identify the cause of the failure.
     2. Ensure that the backup and restore medium has sufficient space.
     3. Correct any errors raised by third-party backup and restore software.
There is also detail about backing up database via T-SQL statement /GUI, you can review the following article.

  • Two TC`s as backup devices, in the same wifi network ?

I would like to know if it is possible to use two TC`s simultaneously as backup devices in the same Wi Fi network?
    Thank you for your interest.
    Best regards,
    André.

On your Mac, open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Time Machine
Click Add or Remove Backup Disk
    Select One Time Capsule disk
    Click Use Disk
Select Add or Remove Backup Disk again
    Select the other Time Capsule
    Click Use Disk
Now the Mac will back up first to one Time Capsule, then it will back up to the other Time Capsule and keep alternating backups.
Set up other Macs the same way.
This will work in Lion 10.7.5, Mountain Lion 10.8.x and Mavericks 10.9.x

  • Support for Canon M80 backup device

I have a Canon M80 backup device that I have used in the past with a mac that had OSX 10.4 but I have since purchased a new computer that came with OSX 10.5 which does not appear to support the M80. Problem is that I just got back from 7 weeks of shooting and I need to import the pictures in to aperture but the OS is not mounting the backup device.
Does anyone have any tricks that I could try to make this work
    Thanks

    Thanks John,
Very interesting.  I already tried to request a change using the feature request form but it wouldn't let me log in for some reason.
I just now tried the first thing you suggested (changing the driver to "legacy") and surprizingly it works well enough to recognize my camera as a capture device now.  Unfortunately, it does not show video in the capture window but it is capturing HDV video.  I am good with that!  I really want to see how well the software burns high def footage to standard DVD's.
    Thanks for your help!
