Backup Error :ORA-00081
Dear All,
Greetings!
Currently I m facing the problem in getting the backup executed successfully. We are having the HP-Ux as O.S.
I had scheduled the backup on the local disk and also verified the permissions of ora<adm> and sid<adm> .Everything is correct.Even the backup logs shows that the db backup is completed .But when checked in the log it shows the msg as
"SQL> Connected to an idle instance.

Hi Friends,
Oracle 10g R2 DB
I have taken a cold backup pf my database.
I shutdown the db, and copy all the datafile, logfile, controlfile to /u01/BACKUP_DB.
Then I tried to test my backup by pointing all the dbfs to /u01/BACKUP_DB.
startup mount
alter database rename file ... to ...;
alter database open;
ORA-01113: file 1 needs media recovery
ORA-01110: data file 1 '/u01/BACKUP_DB/system01.dbf'
Where did I go wrong? :(
I am sure I shutdown the database.
Thanks a lotWhy do I get ORA-01113 for the cold backup?
To get some clue why ora-01113 error comes during backup and recovery review following link.
I recreated controlfile, but recover database failed!

I used the "delete obsolete"command in rman but nothing can be deleted. It seems your filesystem cannot handle large files (> 2G). Use 'maxpiecesize' option of 'allocate channel' command to limit the filesize.

Edited by: user11981514 on Aug 6, 2010 9:46 AMHi,
Since the error ORA-19809 indicates the lack of space in flash recovery area during the media recovery, I suggested increasing the value of the parameter DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE.
Yes, during the media recovery the RMAN will restore the archived log to the default destination (only if the required archived logs are not already on the disks). You can confirm the restore location of the archived log in RMAN restore log/destination specified by parameters log_archive_dest_1/db_recovery_file_dest.

Error ORA-01152: file 1 was not restored from a sufficiently old backup
Its also not thread just to share info with oracle gurus here.If my findings for the below workaround is wrong then please do correct me.
Sometime you get the error after performing restoring controlfile when you don't have autobackup controlfile on
error ORA-01152: file 1 was not restored from a sufficiently old backup
why?
Cause When you shutdown the database with using the normal, transactional or immediate options not abort a full checkpoint occurs.A full checkpoint ensures that all of the dirty blocks contained in the buffer cache are written to the data files, the database comes into synchronized state at this time i.e controlfile CKPT SCN=databasefile CKPT.
Like in this demo i am not taking backup the database in opened mode

you will get the error when you will restore controlfile from backup set.
error ORA-01152: file 1 was not restored from a sufficiently old backup
Reason is that CKPT SCN in the datafiles will be ahead of the backupset control file no
full checkpoint occuring. You are not taking backup in consistent state and the
backupset will not be in consistent state. When you will restore the control file from
backupset then yours restored control file SCN will be lesser then yours datafile
checkpoint SCN.

Solution : As in above case, I have started the database in mount and then alter it to the open mode but it doesnot work out. After some analysis ,troubleshooting and googling, we have decided to flush the shared pool component of the SGA . So, we have started the database in mount stage and then flush the shared pool and further alter it to open stage . Below are the steps performed to solve this issue .
SQL> shut immediate
ORA-01507: database not mounted

I have an oracle testing instance on Windows NT. It went down every several months due to the same errors. The only difference is the control file number in the error message for every time. I fixed it by restarting the oracle service each time. Below is the error session in the alert log:
Sat Jul 01 16:57:12 2006
Errors in file D:\App\Oracle\admin\intrtest\bdump\intrtestCKPT.TRC:

another process has locked a portion of the file.

Any idea or suggestion?
Thanks
B.Hi friends,
I am also facing the same error:

O/S-Error: (OS 33) The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file.
due to this, our database goes down, and it was currepted my Redo file as well. We have taken a Third party backup using named "Symentic". nybody have the idea, how can I avoid this error in future.

Errors ORA-01115 ORA-17507 ORA-01410
Hi i was using Oracle Data Integrator for loading data from one database to another, i programmed a package that loads data with a cycle in monthly intervals, it rans ok the first ten months since 2007/11 but then i got this errors
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01115: IO error reading block from file 286 (block # 184745)
ORA-17507: I/O request size is not a multiple of logical block size
ORA-01410: invalid ROWID
Does anyone have any idea why this happened?.oracle error ORA-01115
1. Try to assess the cause and extent of the problem.
Examine the alert.log file for this instance. Scan the last few
days' entries for other occurrences of ORA-01115. If you find them,
A) Do they reference files in different disks?
If so, it is likely that there you have controller problems.
Move on to Scenario II.A below.
B) Do they reference different files in the same disk?
If so, it is likely that there are problems with that disk.
Move on to Scenario II.B below.
C) Do they always reference the same datafile?
If so, it is likely that the datafile contains bad blocks.
Move on to Scenario II.C below. If the file is bigger
than 2GB and you are running 7.1.4 or lower on a Solaris
platform, see Scenario II.D below.
D) If none of the above applies, move on to Step 2.
2. If the datafile is in the SYSTEM tablespace, or the database is in
NOARCHIVELOG mode, shut the database down. Move on to Step 4.
If shutdown immediate fails, do a shutdown abort.
3. If the database is in ARCHIVELOG mode, you should still shut the
database down. If the database cannot be shut down, offline the
datafile.
ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE '<full_path_file_name>' OFFLINE;
4. Try to copy the datafile to another disk (managed by a different
controller, if possible).
5. If the copy fails, even after you retry, the datafile must be considered
lost at this point. The next action depends on the tablespace to
which the lost file belongs. See the following Solution References to
PR entries, according to the different types of tablespaces,
for instructions on how to proceed.
IMPORTANT: While going through the references below, keep in mind that
if you restore the datafile from backup, you need to place it in another
disk, preferably under a different controller, and rename it inside Oracle
(see Note 115424.1 for details). If you recreate any tablespace, make
sure its datafiles are created in another disk, preferably under a
different controller.
Reference for Lost datafile scenarios : Note 198640.1
6. If the database is down, mount it.
7. Rename the datafile that you succeeded in copying inside Oracle.
ALTER DATABASE RENAME FILE '<old_full_path_file_name>'
TO '<new_full_path_file_name>';
8. If the database is mounted, open it. If you offlined the datafile,
perform media recovery on it, and then bring it online.
RECOVER DATAFILE '<full_path_file_name>';
ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE '<full_path_file_name>' ONLINE; -
Oracle Not Starting : error ORA-19809
Hello All,
I was trying to start the 11gr2 database and getting the following error. Please can any one give some advise ? I manually deleted all archive logs using OS command but still i get the
same error when i try to start the database.
ORA-19815: WARNING: db_recovery_file_dest_size of 4039114752 bytes is 100.00% used, a nd has 0 remaining bytes available.
You have following choices to free up space from recovery area:
1. Consider changing RMAN RETENTION POLICY. If you are using Data Guard,
then consider changing RMAN ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY.
2. Back up files to tertiary device such as tape using RMAN
BACKUP RECOVERY AREA command.
3. Add disk space and increase db_recovery_file_dest_size parameter to
reflect the new space.
4. Delete unnecessary files using RMAN DELETE command. If an operating
system command was used to delete files, then use RMAN CROSSCHECK and
DELETE EXPIRED commands.

We don't need the database to be open for this, just have the control file mounted:
