Bad performance when deleting report column in webi(with "Design – Structure only")

Hi all,
One of our customer has recently upgraded from BO XI to BO4.1. In the new BO 4.1, they encountered a bad performance issue when they were deleting a column in Webi(using "Design – Structure only" mode).
With “Design – Structure only" mode, it took webi about 10 seconds to complete after the customer right-clicked a report column and clicked the "delete". The customer said that they only need to wait for less than 1 second when they did the same in BO XI old version.
The new BO version used is 4.1SP02, installed in Windows Server 2008 R2. (Server with 32 core CPU, 32G memory)
This bad performance happened in both Webi web and Rich Client. (in Webi Rich Client, the performance is a little bit better. The 'delete column' action takes about 8 seconds to complete).
Do anyone know how to tune this performance in webi? Thank you.
Besides, it seems that each time we are making change in the webi report structure in IE or Rich Client, webi need to interact with Server site to upload the changes. Is there any option to change this behavior? Say, do not upload change to Server for when 'deleting report column', only trigger the upload after a set of actions(e.g. trigger when click the "Save" button).

What customer concerns now is that when they did the same 'column editing' action in BO XI R2 for the same report, they did not need to wait. And they need to wait for at least 7-8 second in the BO 4.1SP02 environment for this action to complete.(data already purged, in structure-only mode)
One more information about the webi report being editing is: there are many sheets in the report(about 6~10 sheets in one report). Customer don't want to separate these sheet into different reports as it will increase the effort of their end users to locate similar report sheets.

we try to delete 1.7 million partner in our CRM system.
Our System has :
SAP_BASIS 620 0057 SAPKB62057
the database is ORACLE
For the deletion we use the report BUPA_TEST_DELETE with packages of 1000 partners each.
We have that the update processes need too much time during deleting the changedocuments of the adresses objectclass 'ADRESSE2' and 'ADRESSE3' by the function CHANGEDOCUMENT_DELETE_V2.
When we try the same in our ECC 5.0 (SAP_BASIS 640 0015 SAPKB64015) with an DB2 database we don´t have the same problem.
Can anybody help us to solve the problem.

Hi, experts! I have to make Crystall report on BEx query with 2 structures, one in columns (with KF's), and one in rows. Is it possible to create such report? Because when I create such report, I cant see fields in structures, only characteristics fields.

Happy to hear that its working now.
Answering your question, again its upto the connection and report format you are using. Based on your question i hope you your report output should be like this.
You cannot map to two labels for the series, again this report format is possible only in cross tab through Webi. I would suggest you to concatenate the material and month in a dimension in webi like below.
I have done the concatenation in excel level, i would suggest you to do that in webi. Try to reduce the formula as much in excel.
or
If you are using Query browser connection, then i would suggest you to create a separate report which will display the actual vs plan material wise, here you need to pass the material as a prompt.

Bad performance when open a bi publisher report in excel

We use bi publisher(xml publisher) to create a customized report. For a small report, user like it very much. But for a bigger report, users complain about the performance when they open the file.
I know it is not a native excel file, that may cause the bad performance. So I ask my user to save it to a new file as a native excel format. The new file still worse than a normal excel file when we open it.
I did a test. We try to save a bi publish report to excel format, the size shrink to 4Mb. But if we "copy all" and "Paste Special" value only to a new excel file, the size is only 1Mb.
Do I have any way to improve that, users are complaining everyday. Thanks!
I did a test today.
I create a test report
Test 1: Original file from BIP in EBS is 10Mb. We save it in my local disk, when we open the file, it takes 43 sec.
Test 2: We save the file in native excel format, the file size is 2.28Mb, it takes 7 sec. to open.
Test 3: We copy all cell and "PasteSpecial" to a new excel file with value only. The file size is 1.66Mb, it takes only 1 sec to open.

BO slow when accessing reports through the web but not with a installed client.

We have installed BO 4.0 SP08 in a virtual machine with 32 RAM and 8 CPU processors. We have divided the APS in a number of instance with different services. We have also 8 Web Intelligence Processing servers.
The application is slow when trying to create or view a report from the web browser (ie or chrome). If we use the installed Web Rich Client on a machine, then it works fine.
Does anyone knows why?

Run the Apple Hardware Test as described on page 101 of your owner’s manual to see if it detects any problems.

I have two practically identical databases 10.2.0.4.0 EE 64-bit on Windows
On first DB I have elapsed time: 4 sec, on second - 0.2 sec
I didn't find important difference between init parameters (hidden parameters too).
First DB has more memory (PGA) then second.
Main time events in time of executing anonymous block on first DB are

DB time
In second DB - the same but much less
If I use caching of temporary LOBs then both DBs work fine, but I can not understand why first DB works slowly when I use nocache temporary LOBs.
What can be the reason?

Can we see performance score at reports column in OATS?

We've installed OATS and OAT Administrator to PC, and tried to do performance testing and show/read some score measurement at reports column, which will be generated by running 3rd party script. In OATS reports column, we can only see pie chart and bar chart for the passed, failed information from running tests, or the running statistics among 3rd party test, manual test, and oracle OpenScript test.
I am asking how to show the performance measure results (like accuracy, F-measure) from running 3rd party script on reports column graph?
We also need to see comparison charts which shows the performance difference between two days or more testing results.
Can we do this with reports site?

CDD-23572 connection to Oracle lost when deleting a column

Hi
I use Designer 9.0.4.7, Oracle database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bit.
When I add a column to a table or add a foreign key, it works well, but when I want to delete a column or a foreign key, I get the message 'CDD-23572 The connection to Oracle has been lost.'
Has anyone a idea what the reason could be that the connection is lost?

First of all your 9.0.4.x Designer is not certified with a 10.2.0.4 DB.
The only version that is certifed is a 10.1.2.5
However here is the workaround:

or create on logon trigger for designer users to alter the session, for

Hiding table columns in web application designer

Hi,
Can anyone please tell me how to hide the columns of a table which im using in a web application template as analysis. E.g : if i have 7 columns in my table and i dont want to show that particular column i.e 7th and m using the same query somewhere else also to show other information so i cannot change my query but i want to hide it at web application designer level.

Hi Preetha,
I think best solution to your problem(keeping future enhancements in mind) is to create a query view based on the query that you are using.
Move the unwanted characteristics to free chars section or hide the unwanted key figures.
Then resave this query view.
You can use this query view as a data provider to this table.

How to view my pro*C reports on the web with forms10g

I just migrated my forms from forms6i to forms10g. My IDS 10g R2 sits on Windows XP machine through which I build my form. My IAs 10g R2 sits on Linux machine throught which I compile my forms. Lot of my forms uses pro*C reports which I want to display on the web. I'm using host command in my forms. My questions are :
1) Do I have to use webtuil?
2) Is my pro*C reports needs to be ftp into my windows machine or I can still run it even though they sit on linux machine.
3) How can i dsiplay my pro*C report on the web?

After reading your post, it sounds like you are experiencing an error with the Photos app on your iPhone. You may want to consider restarting the device first, and then resetting if that does not work. This article provides detailed instructions for Restarting, and Reseting:

the first step to give only 9i form server and report server(or services, a buzz word) only is good. But the key issue to adopt the limited 9iAS is whether it must use Oracle LDAP SSO server, if so, then it will have trouble to buy it as it will force to buy full 9ias again.
E.G., the Chrysler corporate standard is to Websphere, then it prohibits our team to buy another set of similar app. server. Now we like the limited form/report server edition, but before we go ahead to apply for permission to buy, we must also answer if it will work with no Oracle LDAP SSO etc.
Will the 9.0.4 limited edition work with non-oracle LDAP/SSO ? Or generally, will 9.0.4 be open enough to work with other application server/infrastructure?

I am trying to run several reports through the web by calling a direct url, but for some reason every time I am prompted to sign into Portal because SSO is enabled. What can I do to avoid the sign in page and run the report directly?

Web Reporting Authorizations for Web Application Designer

any information on authorizations in context with the Web Application Designer would be appreciated. I know the data access is regulated the normal class RS and RSR authorization objects. Any way to secure and regulate access to the Web items in the WAD?

Hi Michael,
Security settings are the standard ones (RS/RSR) as you mention plus limiting access to Web templates using roles.
I do not know any mean to limit access at the web item level; you can define security restrictions on the underlying queries though.
