Basic question inbound / outbound and source service (ASA 5505)

Hi there,
I'm new to the ASA 5505 appliance and have a few very basic questions. Hope I get some responses and not flamed for being a total newbie. :-)
Inbound versus outbound: I'm having a difficulty understanding the inbound versus outbound terminology. Can somebody please clarify? For example, if I want to block all http traffic from hosts on the inside to the internet but allow all https connections, intuitively I'd configure a rule to block outbound (= outgoing) traffic for the http protocol for the inside network. However, it seems as if I have to add this rule for inbound connections. Why is a connection from a host on the inside to a web server on the internet considered an inbound connection on the inside interface?
When I add a rule, I've got a "service" field and a "Source Service" field in the "More Options" section. What's the difference? Do I have to set both to the same value?
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Ralf,
Yes, if you put a deny http, it would drop all packets for destination as http port, but be mindful that when you apply an access-list on your inside interface, it automatically activates the deny ip any any right at the bottom, you would be able to see that in the ASDM. So for the users that need be allowed access to the http, needs to be explicitly allowed http access, so your correct configuration would be:
access-list inside_access_in deny tcp host 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.255 any eq http
access-list inside_access_in permit tcp any any
access-group inside_access_in interface inside
This would block 192.168.1.1 to go to internet, but allow all others.
Second question, i haven't chceked the ASDM, but just remember out of memory, that this service option should be the protocol, whether ip,tcp, udp, esp or gre etc.
Moreover always try to block connections as closed to the source as possible, this would mean, if you want to filter traffic going from inside to outside, that should be done on the inside interface not outside.
Thanks,

    Problem is:
How to do above things without creating inbound, outbound and navigation link.
    Thank u a lot.

  • Some basic questions on ESS and MSS

    Hi Experts,
This is the first time I am going to deal with
    ESS and MSS.
I have some basic questions about it and they are
    listed below:
    1. In an organization if they want to integrate
ESS and MSS, how do they go about? What I mean
is, will they install the packages in the R/3
system and then use the to portal features to
make iViews of ESS and MSS.
    2. Or is there a seperate package for the portal
    and the R/3 system
3.What is the best way to customize ESS and MSS
iViews? Is WebDynpro used to customize ESS and
    MSS applications, if yes how?
    4. Are these ESS and MSS packages different for
ECC and the older version of R/3 systems? If yes what are the major differences?
Please do let me know on these subjects and also
if anyone of you have any links or documents
associated with this scenario please do send me.
    Thank you
    Regards
    Luke

    Hi,
    here is what I know..
1 & 2. Depending on the backend SAP version, the relevant ESS/MSS Business Packages have to be installed on the Portal. On the backend it will be via an Add-on.
    3. The webDynpro versions of ESS/MSS are available from mySAP ERP2004/2005 (ECC5/6). The best way to customize the iViews would be through the NetWeaver DevStudio.
    ent
    4. Yes, the ESS/MSS packages are differ depending on the backend SAP version.
You can find all the  different packages & their info right here on SDN. From the home page click on the Portal Content Portfolio on the right hand side of the page>Browse Content Portfolio>Self Service for ESS & Line Manager for MSS.

  • Movement types corrsponds to Inbound ,Outbound and Internal transaction

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me the list of movement types corresponding  to the Inbound,Outbound  and for Internal Transaction.
for example:  movement type 101 corresponds to Inbound transaction.
    Thanks

    Dear Bala,
    This may help you.....
Below you will find a short description of the standard movement types. The cancellation movement type is the movement type + 1 (cancellation for 101 = 102).
101 Goods receipt for purchase order or order
If the purchase order or order has not been assigned to an account, a stock type (unrestricted-use stock, stock in quality inspection, blocked stock) can be entered during goods receipt.
If the purchase order or order has been assigned to an account, the goods receipt is not posted to the warehouse, but to consumption.
In the case of non-valuated materials, the goods receipt is posted to the warehouse, although the purchase order has not been assigned to an account.
    Possible special stock indicators:
o     K Goods receipt for purchase order to consignment stock
o     O Goods receipt for purchase order to stock of material provided to vendor
o     E GR for purchase order or order to
    o     sales order stock
o     Q GR for purchase order or order to
    o     project stock.
Goods receipt for subcontract order : at goods receipt, the consumption of the components is posted at the same time (see movement type 543)
    Goods receipt for
stock transport order : at goods receipt the transported quantity is posted in the receiving plant from stock in transit into unrestricted-use stock (or stock in quality inspection, blocked stock).
103 Goods receipt for purchase order into GR blocked stock
The GR blocked stock is not valuated.
You cannot receive goods into GR blocked stock for stock transport orders.
105 Release from GR blocked stock for purchase order
Movement type 105 has the same effects as 101.
    121 Subsequent adjustment for subcontracting
This movement type cannot be entered manually.
With a subsequent adjustment for a subcontract order it is possible to correct the consumption of components. In this case, the material produced by the supplier is credited with the excess consumption / under-consumption. For this reason, if there is a subsequent adjustment, an item is generated for the produced material using movement movement type 121.
Movement type 121 does not have a reversal movement type.
122 Return delivery to supplier or to production
Using movement type 122, you can distinguish real return deliveries for a purchase order or order from cancellations (102).
In the standard version, you must enter a reason for the return delivery if you are using movement type 122. In this way, evaluations of return deliveries are possible.
The effects of movement type 122 correspond to a cancellation of movement type 101.
    123 Reversal of return delivery
If you returned a goods receipt using movement type 122, you can reverse the return delivery using movement type 123.
Movement type 123 has the same effects as movement type 101.
124 Return delivery to vendor from GR blocked stock
Using movement type 124, you can return a goods receipt to GR blocked stock (103).
Movement type 124 has the same effects as movement type 104.
125 Return delivery from GR blocked stock - reversal
If you returned a goods receipt to GR blocked stock using movement type 124, you can reverse the return delivery using movement type 125.
Movement type 125 has the same effects as movement type 103.
131 Goods receipt for run schedule header
This movement cannot be entered manually. It is generated automatically at notification of goods receipt for a run schedule header.
Possible special stock indicators: E und Q
    161 Return for purchase order

Movement type 161 has the same effects as movement type 122.
201 Goods receipt for a cost center
The goods can only be withdrawn from unrestricted-use stock.
    Possible special stock indicators:
    o     K: Goods withdrawal from
    o     consignment stock

317 Creation of a structured material from constituent components (Retail)
A material split into its components using movement type 319 can be rejoined using movement type 317.
Movement type 317 has the same effect as a cancellation of movement type 319.
319 Split structured material into components (Retail)
You can enter the splitting of a structured material manually using movement type 319.
You can configure Customizing so that a structured material (for example, (z.B. set, prepack or display) is automatically split into its components at goods receipt. The system posts the split using movement type 319. In this process, the BOM header material is posted and each of the component stocks are increased. You can also use this function if you use the Warehouse Management System (WM).
    Example:
A box of the structured material S contains 3 pieces of the component K1 and 4 pieces of the component K2. The following material document items result after the material is split at goods receipt:
         Qty      Unit      Material      Movement type
         1      box      S      101 +

Movement type 351 is only used if the goods issue is posted without an SD delivery. A goods issue for a stock transport order with SD delivery is posted using movement type 641 or 643.
The transfer posting is also possible for materials valuated separately.
The goods issue for a stock transport order takes place using movement type 101.
Possible special stock indicators: E, Q

The quantity is transferred from unrestricted-use sales order stock (non-valuated) into unrestricted-use storage location stock (valuated). For this movement, a special stock indicator is not required.
It is possible to change the material number using this movement - if the material is managed in the company's own stock under a different material number (for example, for materials that can be configured).
403 Transfer of consignment stock to company's own stock
(no longer available as of Release 4.0C)

If you do not use the special stock indicator, the system uses this movement type and movement type 311.
For sales order stock, you can change the material number for this movement if you manage the material in your company's own stock under a different material number (for example, for configurable materials).
Consignment stock is transferred to valuated stock, thus resulting in a vendor liability.
441 Transfer posting non-tied to tied empties
Part of the stock of an "empties" material assigned to a full product is managed in the stock type "tied empties".
Empties stock not assigned to a full product forms part of the stock type "unrestricted-use".
Using movement type 441, you can make a transfer posting for an empties material from the stock type "unrestricted-use" to the stock type "tied empties". Movement type 442 reverses this transaction.
    Example:
The full product "beer" has a stock of 15 cases. Part of the empties components "bottle" and "case" is tied empties stock.
         Material      unrestricted-use      tied empties
         Beer      15

  • Basic question about storage and safety in iMovie '11

A very basic question about storage and safety:
I want to keep a backup of my raw footage on my external hard drive prior to begin working on the movie in iMovie. I want to do this:
    1. Upload the digital files from my camcorder to my Desktop *(as opposed to iMovie)*
    2. Duplicate that footage/clips.
    3. Put the duplicate clips/footage into a folder labeled with the name of that footage (like "Fun At the Dentist" or "Jimmy Learns How to Yodel").
    4. Drag the folder with the footage/clips into my external hard drive into a pre-existing folder titled "Backups/duplicates of all of my raw footage/clips." This big granddaddy folder will house all of the child folders of different movies.
5 Then, open up iMovie '11 and import the raw footage/clips from my Desktop rather than from my camcorder.
    6. Then I want to make a duplicate of my finished movie and put it in my external hard drive in a "Finished Movies" folder.
I know that the original raw unedited footage will always be in iMovies '11 but I want the original to also exist immediately accessible in my external hard drive.
    QUESTION:
Is this viable? Is it wise? (I know it goes an extra unnecessary step, but aside from that.)
*Do you have any precautionary advice?* Should I do something in my iMovies '11 preferences? What?
In earlier years with iMovie '04 or '06 (cannot recall) I made many novice errors and ended up losing audio to my finished movie. I also lost footage.
This time around with iMovie '11 I don't to make such novice, ignorant errors.
Thanks so much for any comments to this question.
    -L

Yes I'm sure it will work great for you.
The iFrame format is something Apple has come up with. The reason for its existence is unknown to me so I can only speculate. But it seems to me that Apple "invented" this format in order to have devices such as Ipod/Ipad/Iphone/Ixxx create clips that are editable on consumer hardware such as already mentioned devices but also standard Mac computers, without the need for format conversion.
iMovie converts most input formats during import, which takes a lot of time, and this need for conversion often comes as a surprise to most people new to home video editing.
iFrame has a resolution of 960x540 which is long way from the common standards of 1920x1080 and 1280x720. If your end target is YouTube however, this may not be too bad though. However if you intend to go with YouTube HD, you may find iFrame footage to look wrong since they are effectively upscaled to a higher resolution.
Technically iFrame uses the H.264 algorithm, a smaller frame size (960x540) and a rather low compression scheme. This will result in large files, but the plus side is that the files are ready for editing without the need for any conversion and iMovie will natively edit the files.

  • Basic Question on Copy and Delta link which one to use when?

    Hi
    Its basic question
My understanding about copy and Delta link is
Copy doesnot ahve direct relationship with source object (but it acts as a sibling) any changes done to spurce object does not affect target object.
Where as Delta link will have a parent child relation ship between source object bacially its a copy of source and inherits id properties. in case if i change source object does this affect target object, we can delete, add content to delta link target object.
let's say if i want to use standard quickpoll iView do i need to use copy or delta link similarly for other iviews, worksets, roles which one will be better.
    Regards,
    Murali

    Murali,
    Yes, your understanding is right.
    Case 1 : Copy
    A- Object
    B- Copy of A
Both of them are independent.Any changes in A are not dependent on B and vice versa.
    Case 2 : Delta Link
    A - Object
B - Copy of A (via Delta link)
Any changes to A are reflected in B, as A is a parent and B a child.
But B would be an independent entity.Any changes to B would not effect A.
When you use either of them, depends on your need. When you are working with standard iviews or roles or workset, you can do a copy of the original, because in most cases we would not make changes to the standard roles or worksets or iviews. There by eliminating the process of making a delta copy.
But, if you are dealing with the roles that you have created and want to make a copy of it, you can use a delta link, because, even if you want to add more iviews and worksets to that role, they would get reflected when you make a delta copy.
    Hope that helps.

  • Basic questions about PL/SQL web services and datasource names

    Hi there,
I successfully generated a web service for a PL/SQL packaged procedure in JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0).
In the web service base class the following code was generated:
__dataSource = (javax.sql.DataSource) __initCtx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/dbconnectionDS");However in the weblogic server the datasource name is jdbc/somethingelse so the deployment fails at first.
What is the recommended procedure to solve this issue? The obvious solution is to manually edit the source -- that is what I did and it worked fine. However if I re-generate the web service I will lose my change. Is there a better way to do this?
Another question -- in the generated web.xml file, there is a resource-ref for the datasource. I was hoping that changing the datasource name there would help but it didn't work. What is it used for in this context?
    Thanks
    Luis

    Hi Vishal,
I did as you suggested but it didn't work... see below more details.
    Thanks
    Luis
1 - I re-generated the web service from the PL/SQL package. The constructor in CFBTestWSBase class looks likes this:
    public CFBTestWSBase() throws SQLException
      {  try {
    javax.naming.InitialContext __initCtx = new javax.naming.InitialContext();
    __dataSource = (javax.sql.DataSource) __initCtx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/custfeedbackDS");
    } catch (Exception __jndie) {
    throw new java.sql.SQLException("Error looking up <java:comp/env/jdbc/custfeedbackDS>: " + __jndie.getMessage());
    }2 - I added the following section to weblogic.xml:
      <resource-description>
        <res-ref-name>comp/env/jdbc/custfeedbackDS</res-ref-name>
        <jndi-name>jdbc/DataSource</jndi-name>
</resource-description>3 - I got the following error when during deployment to weblogic server:
[HTTP:101216]Servlet: "CFBTestWSPort" failed to preload on startup in Web application: "CustFeedbackTestWS.war".
java.sql.SQLException: Error looking up <java:comp/env/jdbc/custfeedbackDS>: While trying to look up comp/env/jdbc/custfeedbackDS in /app/webapp/CustFeedbackTestWS.war/346617503.

  • Basic Questions On Scoring and LMS with Captivate 4

    Hello,
Forive me if this question is too basic for this forum, but I have to ask it somewhere.
I am an academic librarian who develops tutorials using Capitvate 4.  Each tutorial I develop has about 5 true/false, multiple choice questions.  My technical knowledge is limited as a "librarian," but is strong enough to storyboard, develop graphics, and write elearning tutorials. But I have no idea on how to  capture the results from my quizes and perform assessments, which is what I really need to do.
So, basically, what do I need to do?  Do I ask my university to tap into their LMS?  Coordinate with someone in a techncial services capacity and let them handle it? Have test results emailed using Captivate?  Use something called Moodle? Wait until Captivate 5 comes out?  I do not need anything fancy; just percentages on pass/fail rates associated with 5 questions or so.
Are there some basic instructions out there?
    Best,
    George Germek

    Hello,
Since you seem to have a LMS, the easiest way is to let handle the assessment by the LMS. You'll have to ask where you can store the SCORM-objects(will explain soon) so that the users you want to reach can have access to them. The LMS takes care of the login for the users, and can link the results of an assessment to this user. You'll have to ask for the rights to have access to these results.
Creating a SCORM-object from CP is possible, but you need to know which SCORM-standard is supported by the LMS. Then you will decide what you want to have reported from the LMS: p.e. only the score, if they failed/passed (when you have put in a mastery score), how many attempts they made etc. If you have this information, would be glad to help you set up a first SCORM-object from a CP-file.
E-mailing results is a bit tricky in CP4, sometimes it works, sometimes not.
In CP5 you'll have other possibilities than a LMS (by the way Moodle is a free LMS, do not think this will be OK for you because you already have a LMS around): posting the results to acrobat.com (rather simple process, really) or using an internal webserver (but then you'll need some technical assistance I'm afraid).
Hope this gives you some ideas?
    Lilybiri
PS: just realize this was your first posting. Welcome on this forum, George.

  • Basic Questions about Looping and Headers

    Hello,
Relative SSRS newcomer here and I have a couple of foundational questions...  These are based on the simple premise of the underlying dataset returning multiple rows of data, elements of each to be displayed on subsequent pages of the report.
Is it fair to day that the Table (or Matrix) are the basic elements used for an iterative report?
Assuming the above is true, I'm using a Table for my first experiment here.
I can iterate and display my records but I'm struggling with header and footer information.
I want to display header and footer information on each page the is part of the current record.  I've tried to add these elements in the 'header row' of the table, but that doesn't seem to do it.  I don't see any facility for a footer.  Is
this to be accomplished with row groups or something?
    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Hi Steven,
According to your description, you want to display interview questions and answers between interview name and date, and different interview name displays in different page. After testing the issue in my environment, we can use list to achieve your goal.
Please refer to the following steps:
Add a table to the design surface, drag question_name, question_answer fields from the Report Data pane to the table cells, and delete the last column of the table.
Click anywhere in a tablix data region, in the Grouping pane, Click Add Group, select Parent Group, in the Tablix Group dialog box, select interview_name, then click OK.
Right click [interview_name] next to details symbol, click insert row, select Inside Group – Below, then Inside Group – Above.
Delete the first row and the first column.
Merge all the cells in the first and last row, then drag interview_name to the first row and drag interview_date to the last row from the Report Data pane.
Add a List to the design surface, drag the tablix into the List.
Select and right click the List, in the Grouping pane, Click Group Properties, click Add button and select interview_name from the drop down list. Then click Page Breaks, and check Between each instance of a group check box, click OK.
The following screenshot is for your reference:
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Beginner's questions about WCF and web services

For the purpose of this forum let me just say that I got my certs back in Dot Net 2.0.  I know how to write simple web services.  Now someone has dumped a huge package of code on my desk that (I think) contains a WCF project (without documentation
of course).  Contains references to System.ServiceModel.
    So my questions...
    1.  What (if anything) is the difference between WCF and Web API?
    2.  If there is a difference,  how do you decide which one to use?
     3.  Assuming that this project on my desk is a WCF project, where can I find some hints on how to run it in VS2013 Community?

WEB API is restricted to ASP.NET and HTTP.
    http://captechconsulting.com/blog/john-nein/aspnet-web-api-vs-windows-communication-foundation-wcf
WCF uses more communication protocols than just HTTP, there are more ways to host a WCF service other than IIS, like a selfhosting exe type WCF server,   and WCF is a SOA solution.
WCF is a more robust solution in a whole lot of ways is the bottom line.

  • Few basic questions about sharing and other stuff..

    Hi there!
First of all I know where are "101" pages, but they are not giving detail information.
1.I know there are some folders where I can put files, web-sites and other in order to enable sharing.
What do I have to do to enable other users (from internet to)
    - view my webpage when they enter my IP address in browser
    - to access files which I want them to be able to acces (with user and password required)? I know there is sth like sharing, and windows sharing, but I give access to my all user folder, do I have to create new accounts on my mac?
    2. It's kind of small problem, but can I run apps in finder using only keyboard (enter causes rename action)
    3. Why doesn't safari keep addresses I used in addres field after few days?
The most important question is 1.
    Will be gratefull for help.
    Thanks
    Adam Mscisz

    1. Start Personal Web Sharing from the Sharing pane of System Preferences; if you have a router between your computer and the Internet, ports 80 and 443 need to be forwarded to your computer. You can set this up from the router's configuration page, which is accessible by finding the router address in the Network pane of System Preferences and putting it into a web browser. See this article for instructions on how to password protect your shared files.
    2. You can use the Command and O keyboard shortcut to open the selected item in the Finder.
    3. The default setting in Safari is to keep the history for 7 days. You can use the method posted by ptejad in this article to extend the time Safari remembers the history for. The method at the top of the linked page won't work in Tiger.

  • Basic questions about warranty and AppleCare.

First, although folks in another forum have said otherwise, staff at the New York Apple Store, and a customer sales person on the phone, said that installing 3rd party RAM myself voided the warranty. Is this true?
Second--via a link from one of the posts below, I read that the AppleCare service extends for three years from whenever you purchase it; I had previously had the impression that, if you bought it after 11 months, you only got 2 years and 1 month of AppleCare. Which is true?
    I got that from http://www.wiredbynature.org/comp/mac/macbook/mods.php

    Hello,
First, although folks in another forum have said
otherwise, staff at the New York Apple Store, and a
customer sales person on the phone, said that
installing 3rd party RAM myself voided the warranty.
    Is this true?
On some systems that require full disassembly, upgrading the memory can void your warranty. The Mac Mini comes to mind there. The Mac Mini's manual does not describe installing memory, and tells you not to service the machine at all.
But, the MacBook's manual does describe installing memory.
On page 79 of the MacBook's User's Guide, it says:
    Adding Memory to Your
    MacBook
    4
This chapter provides information and instructions for installing additional memory and for removing and replacing the battery in your MacBook.
Warning: Apple recommends that you have an Apple-certified technician install memory. Consult the service and support information that came with your computer for instructions on how to contact Apple for service. If you attempt to install memory and damage your equipment, such damage is not covered by the limited warranty on your computer.
Then, on the following page, it describes the steps to install the memory modules along with pictures of the process.
Second--via a link from one of the posts below, I
read that the AppleCare service extends for three
years from whenever you purchase it; I had previously
had the impression that, if you bought it after 11
months, you only got 2 years and 1 month of
    AppleCare. Which is true?
The AppleCare package extends your warranty coverage to a maximum of 3 years from the original date of the computer's purchase.
AppleCare must be purchased within the first year of the computer's warranty. It cannot be purchased after the 1-year warranty has expired (although Apple has occasionally permitted this when the warranty has only been expired for a day or so).
Information on AppleCare can be found here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/products/proplan.html
    Hope this helps.

  • Basic questions about AirPort and channels

I have a VERY limited knowledge about networks. Please keep answers simple.
My setup is very basic. My computer is connected to the internet via AirPort through my wireless gateway (router).
When I pull down the AirPort menu from the toolbar it lists 3 network names plus Other. My network name is checked. Why are 2 others listed on my computer? They aren't listed in my AirPort Network System Preferences under Preferred Networks so I can't delete them.
I downloaded iStumbler to try to get more information. It lists all 3 names plus one more that comes on and off. My signal is over 100% and all the others are around 50%.
Also, three (including mine) are using channel 6 and one is using channel 1. Should I change my channel? Everyone always mentions 1, 6, and 11. Could I use 4 or 5? Are some channels stronger than others?
    Thanks.

"...Why are 2 others listed on my computer?"
You have neighbors with wireless networks and you are getting a signal from them.
"They aren't listed in my AirPort Network System Preferences under Preferred Networks so I can't delete them."
You can't delete them because they are your neighbors signals.
    "should I change my channel?"
I would switch to channel 9.

  • Question about oradim and windows services

    Hello.
I have a db instance on my W-XP Pro machine that was created with this command:
oradim -new -sid <my_sid> -startmode m -pfile <my_pfile>
Since the creation I only used to need to start the windows service in order to work with the db.
I decided to delete the instance.
    oradim -delete -sid <my_sid>
    Afterwards I recreated the instance:
oradim -new -sid <my_sid> -startmode m -pfile <my_pfile>
And now I have this strange situation:
First I need to start the windows service (although it does not startup the db) and then starting the db with sqlplus.
Would it be possible restoring to the initial situation?
    Thanks in advance.

Did you tried changing the database startup as Auto
oradim -edit -sid <my_sid> -startmode auto -SRVCSTART
    systemThanks.
Although the above solution is working ok, I am also trying your solution but it seems there must be a syntax error:
D:\>oradim -edit -sid <my_sid> -startmode auto -SRVCSTART system
DIM-00036: Ha introducido una opci¾n no vßlida para el comando -DELETE
D:\>oradim -edit -sid <my_sid> -startmode a -SRVCSTART system
DIM-00003: Falta un argumento para el parßmetro
(I am sorry but I do not understand all the oradim options).
