Batch Management Implementation in Cement Industry.

Dear All
I would like to understand about Batch Management Implementation in Cement Industry.
I have some inputs on Batch Management but from Implementation in Cement Industry would like to exactly understand what are the typical scenarios for Batch Management. What should be the Batch level ie at material, client or plant level?
Has anybody worked on Batch Management Implementation in Cement Industry.?

    Hi,
This is my second implementation in cement vertical. In earlier implementation I went with repetitive with QM.Please can you justify which will be the best suitable for cement ,REM or PP-PI.with reasons.

    Hi Manoj,
Better go for Repetitive Manufacturing. If customer required according to the various order go for Discrete.
Work centre consider as a line . Each cement grade must have separate BOM and routing. Accordingly must create materials.

    Dear Saurabh,
Don't take it other-wise, But my Approach is Far-Far Different from Others:
In any Implementation, for any Software Module, Two Important Aspects:
    1. Knowledge about that Particular Software/ Module. Functionality-wise, You must know the Capabilities of Software -
    a. What Process can be Mapped, in Standard Package
    b. What Process can be mapped via Customization
    c. What could not be achieved i.e. System Restrictions
    2. One must be able to understand Clients' Industry-Specific Business Processes and Requiremements.
Untill-Unless, One is not able to Clearify himself on above Two-Basic-Points, How could he able to resolve/ assist others?
Also, Its not like that one fine day, I got-up and find myself in Consultant's Shoes. I think, Your Company must have provided Basic Assistance, in order to groom, as per your Profile.
Consult your Senior Consultants - WM (MM) for the same.
    Best Regards,

  • How to Implement the Screen As of Batch Management

    Hello Everyone,
I want to implement a screen having functionality similar to Batch Management, at "Add" Button another screen popups having two gridviews in First there would be Items and in Second their would be Serial Numbers as defined in Item Master Data.
The same Functionality for multiple items, like in case of two items when we select first item from GridView1 it gives area in Gridview2 to add data and when we select Item2 it refresh the gridview2 to add the data in gridview2, but again when I select first Item in GridView1 it gives the same data that I added before.
and in the end on update button all the data save in a table or two.
    How can I do that??
    Thanks in advance,
    Idrees

    Hi Idrees,
You need two grids and at least 3 datatable.
Grid 1 bound to DataTable 1 - This will list all the Items, nothing special about this one.
Grid 2 bound to DataTable 2 - This will list selected batch for current selected Item in Grid 1.
DataTable3 - This will hold all the selected batches for all the items in Grid 1.
Now you need to refresh DataTable 2 based on the Selected item in DataTable 1.
When the user click on a row in DataTable 1, you need to do 2 things :
    1. Read all the records of DataTable 2 and sync it to DataTable 3.
    2. Read all the records of DataTable 3 where the Item Code belongs to the Item selected in Grid 1 populate it into DataTable2.
Tedious, but will do the job.
When the user click Add/Update button, write the records of DataTable1 and DataTable3 into database.

  • Batch Management -Paper Industry

    Dear all,
How batch management is done for final product in Paper industry. Final product is made in reels , each reel is having different weight. If we want to track each reel, how to solve this problem. After inspection  each reel is given grade.

For maintaining Batch Management use the following path -
SPRO --> Logistics - General --> Batch Management --> Specify Batch Level and Activate Status Management
We have to specify the batch level, Plant level, Client Level, Material Level
Batch Status Management to be Active
Activate Plants you want with Batch status management
    Batch Master
    Batch Number Assignment
Activate the internal or external batch number assignment
    Creation of New Batches
SPRO --> Logistics - General --> Batch Management --> Creation of New Batches --> Define Batch Creation for Production Order / Process Order
    Maintain parameters for the above.

  • ReSizing to existing retail system if activate batch management

    Hi Experts
We have a SAP ERP retail system, the retail industry solution was implemented a few years ago.
We are implementing improvements on the existing Retail System (post golive activities), we add modifications in master data activating the batch management to materials.
We will be have additional users too.
We are adding load on the system with the additional users and we are increasing the disk requeriments for additional information (to the batch management) in the existing table records and
    to the future records.
We have the latest version of the retail sizing questionnaire "Retail_Sizing_20080715.xls"  obtained from http://service.sap.com/sizing but
I need to know if we have to fill it to obtain the new hardware estimation (taking into account it is not a new configuration, is a post golive activity).
Our scenario need a re-sizing because we are extending an existing system by load (additional users) and we need the calculation for disk requeriments to the additional
information and the calculation for CPU and memory requeriments to minimize the impact of these changes on the system performance.
Is the retail sizing questionnaire right to our scenario?
How I can to calculate the new load on the system?
Is right calculate the future load in our retail system monitoring the current resource utilization to CPU, table growth (and including new fields), and memory usage?
Thanks in advanced for your cooperation, please let me know if you need additional information.
    omm

additing t o about post system also check if ur having stock for last year last period, it should be also zero
    best this will be
make the stock zero and the change the indicator either in MM02 or In tabel MARC
and then post the stock back with batchs
    hope this helps

  • VPRS with Free Goods and Batch Management

    Dear Experts,
I have a problem on the products billing with Free Goods.
I will explain this, before the implementation of Batch Management (with batch split) the billing document show the condition VPRS on the main item (TAN) and the free goods item (TANN).
Now, when the Batch Management was up, the condition VPRS disappeared on the TANN item, I checked the order and it does shows the VPRS conditions. When i check the conditions on the billing document it shows me the following message when i check the VPRS condition
Condition ignored (requirement 004 not fulfilled)
Then I tried to debug the price determination and i realized that only on the TANN position the field komp-evrwr (price determination on the item category) is not 'X'.
Aditionally i can mention thar the batch split item category is defined as YG05.
Actually i only managed to show the cumulated VPRS cost on the main item.
Please someone say to me if this correct or there is a way to put the VPRS on the free goods item.
    Javier Sandoval Vera
    Ecuador

    Hi Javier,
what do you do with the VPRS in your calculation- system ?
If you need i, you delete the requirement 004 in your calculation -system.
on the other hand, you can change TANN to komp-evrwr (price determination on the item category) is  'X'. Then you have to add an 100% rabate for TANN and the resukt will be free good.

  • Specific Identification Cost for batch managed items (Follow-Up from P2P)

Specific Identification Cost method is used for serial and batch managed item. Using this method, the outbound cost of such items would be the original cost of specific goods, which can be determined according to the serial or batch number of that item.
Business One allows the user to receive batch managed items with a batch number that already exists in the DB. It’s possible that the received quantity is added to on-hand quantity in the warehouse. In such case, the quantity on-hand of that batch and the received quantity may have different costs.
What should be the system behavior in such case:
    1. Block receipts to the same batch with different costs.
    2. Write the difference to a price difference account, as done in Standard Cost method.
    3. Manage the batch cost with Moving Average method.
This thread is continuation from 'Specific Identification Cost for batch managed Items' <a href="http://p2p.sap.com/businessoneforum?type=join&login=1&uid=41FB661A76CED536C825C4E2B6FF4397&cid=91&go=z37225">discussion</a> in P2P SAP Business One Forum (Product Development Collaboration).
Previous discussion on P2P is summarized in the attached file.

    Hi Peter,
This is a very important functionality that you are describing here. For example, in the Steel industry, it could be extremely useful to cost by batch or serial number.
If you receive a batch that already exists in the system and if the costing method for the product is moving average, then teh cost of the batch should be calculated based on the moving average as well.
If the costing method is standard, then the cost should go in a variance account.
If the costing method is FIFO, then it is a getting trickier...

  • Batch management issue.

    hello all,
i have batch management active in mm,automatic batch is created during GR.
now i want to implement fifo goods issue, but it needs material master view to be extended to classificatio tab under which i will assign the class.we have almost 20000 material already in sap system ,this may be a big task to assign class to each material.
is there any another settings or configuration available for fifo goods issue.
    i know the settings like.
create a characteristic for last Goods receipt date with table name MCH1 & field LWEDT
    - Assign this to class
    - Create sort sequence with ascending order CU70
    - Then create batch search strategy in MBC1 transaction if you want batch determination in production order
    - Give the sort rule there
    pls suggest me.

    hello all,
i am configuring fifo goods issue for 351 movement type.
during configuration i have found following settings.pls tell me whats the difference between all these 4 option given below.what option i would choose for fifo.
IMG > Logistics-General > Batch Management > Batch Valuation > Activate batch classification for goods movement in IM (only on Mvt Type 201 and not on 202)
         No branching to batch classification
1     Classification carried out in background (all batches)
2     Classification only in foregr.for mand.charac. (all batches)
3     Classification always in foreground (all batches)
4     Classification in foreground for new batches only

  • Batch Management Level

    Hi all,
Batch management drives us difficulty, all finished goods have a batch number in our system. But cause of this our system grows fastly and process management is so difficult. We think about cancelling batch management and use serial number management for product trace. But one of my friends offers me for managing batches as production order level. This means each production order (material differs) will have batch number and at trace the materials with serial number.
I want to know the effects of batch level to the system. For example it's useful to cancel batch management for system growth. Or have we use batch management at one level like production order level? For CO side, it's useful for using batches as production level or completely cancel batch management ?
    Thanks,

    >
    > Thanks,
It appears that you are referirng to an organization which follows discrete manufacturing techniques, where the individual finished item needs to be uniquely identifiable, which is probably satisfied by batches. Your concern of batch numbers getting exhausted is pertitent, given the limitation of 10 character for the batch number.
If I try to compare the pros and cons of serial numbers vis a vis batch numbers, here are the points
    - Batch numbers have the obvious limitation of 10 characters, serial numbers allow 18
    - Batches are normally used in process industry (pharma, food etc), serial numbers are linked to equipments, and have the functionality to check the status at the client level (within which plant/sloc, with customer etc)
    - Tracing the history of a serial number becomes easier (particularly useful in case of customer returns / repairs)
    - Serial numbers are unique, you can have multiple units of a particular batch.
About the question of getting rid of batches altogether, I feel that when serial numbers are present, batches will only lead to additional entry in all movements. Moreover, they will only be redundant, unless you plan to group a few items (serial numbers) into a single batch.
From the CO side, I feel that the production order is the CO object, and hence all costs are accumulated against the order. I do not think having a batch will help from the CO perspective.

  • Batch Management Configuration

    Hi,
While configuring the Batch Management through  Transaction u2013 OMCT.
First  at Batch Level, selected the radio button as Material Level and Saved but Request is not created.
Second at Batch Status Management, selected radio button as Batch Status Management active and saved but the Request is not created.
We would like to know is Batch Management activation is Client specific?
Batch Level field is disabled and we are not able to see the settings.
Request is created only when the activated when Plant with Batch Status Management.
    Need suggestions on this please.

Activation of Batch Status Management is not transported and needs to be set

sensitive functionality, it will not be transported. In my previous
implementation, the manual config is opened to mark this status.

  • STO PIR and Batch management

    Hi All,
I've an issue. I honestly dont know where I can get a solution for that and thats why i will post it in mm and also pp forum.
    Here is my issue.
All materials are batch managed. Each and every customer can get only certain batches and not all batches meet the requirement of a customer. Lets say I have 3 plants (plant 1, plant 2 and plant 3) and I have 3 customers ( cust1, cust2 and cust3). Lets say I get a demand for material and I create PIR's in plant 1. when I run MRP, it will generate planned orders. I convert that into purchase req and then into STO for plant 2. when plant 2 doesn't have the raw material to process into semi finished, I will create and sto from plant 2 to plant 3 to get the raw material. The reason we create sto to plant 2 initially is because it has to process something before it sends it to plant 1. so the link is from customer 1 --> plant 1 (finished goods) -- > plant 2 (semi finished) --> plant 3 (raw material).
Right from raw material it is specific to a customer. i.e. not all raw material batches from plant 3 will be accepted by customer 1.
so when the demand flows from customer 1 to plant 2, is there anywhere that I can keep track of for which customer that order is going and select raw materials based on the end customer ?
Also even though I maintain some information in text field in STO, when I run mrp at the supplying location for other plant, it will not pick anything up in planned order. how can we make it pick up automatically ??
I have no idea on VC, can I do anything with VC for this ?
or is there anyway that I can link together through enhancements, custom development, z tables for this ??
    please do let me know

Is this for discrete or process industry ?

  • Configuration steps for Quality and Batch Management.

    Hi Friends,
We are implementing QM along with Batch Management for testing the material like purity, pathology tests.
I am new to Quality and Batch Management.
Could any one guide me, how to configure material master for QM and Batch to test the material?.
    Thanks

    1) Maintain Material with Classification and Quality Management view
    2) Tick the Check box Quality key Active in QM View->QM view->Inspection Set up and activate the inspection type for which the inspection lot.(e.g insp. type 01 - GR against PO)
    3) Create Quality Info Record(QI01)
    4) In PO the stock automatically goes to Quality stock.
    5) Check MMBE stock
    6) Do Result Recording and Usage Decision(QA32)
    7) Check stock (MMBE).
There are few steps where the PP/QM Consultant need to help you in QI01,QA32 and in Creating characteristics and class according to  Requirement(purity...etc).

  • BADI - WORKORDER_GOODSMVT - check for BATCH management

    Hi there,
I have implemented WORKORDER_GOODSMVT BADI (Backflush method) to fill the batch number with a default value for a given plant.
    This is working fine.
However, I only want to fill this if the Material in the Production Order is "batch managed" (at the moment it's happening for all materials in the Prod. Order ). This indicator field does not appear to be available in the structures of the BADI.
If I look in CO02 for the order, I can see a column called BATCH which is filled with an 'X' in certain cases.
An F1 on the screen field says that it is 'RESBD-SPLKZ'
However, if I check RESB table (or read RESBD using a function module) , this SPLKZ field is always blank for the given order.
Does anyone have an idea why this is, or where I can find a proper "Batch Indicator" field?
    All suggestions appreciated.
I have searched forums and can't find relevant solution.
    Thanks,
    David.

    Hi Bruce,
I solved the problem by going to MARC table with material and plant, and checking field MARC-XCHPF ('Batch management requirement indicator').
if this field was set to 'X', I made my change to the CHARG field.
    Hopefully this helps you.
this is from a long time ago, I should have updated the post sooner - will mark as solved now.
    thanks,

  • Batch management - due dates

    hi
    my location is Chile ..
    I would comment as follows:
Within what is the batch management in SAP Business One, specifically when it is done out of a product, you can view the lots available and implement a self-selection button.
This button takes lots available SAP considering the order given, and that follows an alphabetical or numerical order. Companies usually look at the batch management to keep track of due dates for a product, so it would be very important to give an order to the self-selection of lots based on this variable.
Currently to fix this, you define a code of covering a lot Loig based on product expiration date so that they can be downloaded from the inventory then consider this criterion.
    Greetings,
    Paul Ponce

You have two separate issues here.
The first issue here is activating batch management for a material of which there is inventory.  This is not easy.  There are many threads out there on this.  Here's two of them.
wants to activate batch management for a material which already had a Stock
    http://www.sapfans.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=289203
Basically you have to remove your inventory of the material from the system via a material movement like 562, activate batch management, then bring the material back like via a 561 movement type.  You can reload the inventory using 561 directly into the batches you want to create from your exisiting inventory or as SAP suggested, load it as a single batch, then use standard stock movements to transfer the inventory into the actual batches.
Once you do that, you must update the batch records with the proper expiration dates, (MSC2N) for your exisitng inventory.
As far as reinspection, there are many threads on setting that up.  Here are some to get you started.
