Battery Issues Fixed?

Hi all,
I plan on updating to iOS 7.0.3 shortly, but has anyone noticed an improvement with battery life with the fix?
I have noticed now with iOS 7 and now LTE which has just come to my area, my battery is awful.
So I am hoping this update did something about the battery.
Anyone have any results about this?
Thanks.

The LTE strength is typically 2-4 bars, rarely is it 5 bars.
It seems the battery drains the same no matter what the strength is.
I can watch a 5 minute YouTube video and 5 minutes later my battery has dropped 7%
It got really bad at one point, lost 10% battery on a 3 minute HD video on YouTube.
My current solution is to turn LTE off and go back to 4G until I want to stream a video. When I want to stream a video, I'll turn LTE back on for the video, watch the video, and then turn LTE back off.
4G is fine for everything else social media wise except loading videos super quick.

  • Is the Mountain Lion battery issue fixed - question???

    Hello,
I've been reading that the latest update to Mountain Lion has fixed the battery drain.
Has anybody here got this release on a Late 2008 MacBook?
How is it running? Has the battery issue been fixed or improved?
    Cheers

You can look here to see if your battery simply needs replacing:
Go to About This Mac (under the Apple logo in the menu bar).  Then click "More Info", then "System Report".  Click the "Power" row on the left.  You should see major headers like "Model Information", "Charge Information".
Look under "Health Information" and find "Cycle Count".  How big is that number?  If it is around 1000 or more, it may well be time to replace the battery.

  • IPhone5 Battery Issues *Fixed*

I wanted to come share my experience with everyone, and maybe it will help some others out there.
Backstory: Bought an iphone5, slowly after adding emails, apps, wifi, and whatever else I can think of, I actually thought the battery life was good. However, sometime in late November I went from being able to unplug my phone before work, and not have to charge it until I got home, to having to have it plugged in at work, or at least charge it multiple times a day. If I went out after work, with phone @ 100%, it would be dead before I got home. At most, the battery life was about 3 hours.
No one at the apple store or sprint store was very helpful. I was told to turn off wifi (we don;t have LTE in seattle, so that was off) make sure all apps are closed through the double tapping homescreen, making sure bluetooth is off, I disabled icloud..... it didn't even give me 20 minutes worth of life.
I was getting so fed up, I seriously considered buying a galaxy 3 and just eating the cost. Thankfully, I found someone online who had the same story as me. I followed his steps of simply "resetting network settings" It didn't erase any of my info on my phone, but my phone is back to working properly. I went all weekend without having to charge it more then once, and I have been at work streaming pandora since about 8am, and I am at 68% currently. Whatever the network reset was, fixed the issue. It closed whatever was running, that was destroying my battery.
    I hope this helps.

Why don't you try to search for the many other threads instead of creating a new one.

  • [Iphone 5] update to ios 6.0.1 - battery issue, fix please :(

I have already turned off Siri, Location Services, Notifications
After update to iOS 6.0.1, battery drain very quickly
    Something wrong with my phone?

My recommendation having tried all the obvious is send the iPhone 5 back  to Apple -  Wait for Apple to fix the problems and then buy a new iPhone 5.
I have been buying apple products for over 25 years, I never experienced such a fundamental problem.
Battery drain: 100% to 40% in 4 hours - 100% to 10% 12 hours overnight on standby - with wi-fi off (installed with the same Apps as the 4s with lasted 3-4 days in general use.)
Apple support are either very helpful, or totally dismissive... this morning I was offered "12 hours use is acceptable" as a final word from Apple Support.
The phone is on its way back to Apple, and I'm happily back on my 4s
This is the first and last time I break my purchasing rule when buying from Apple, 'never buy the first version of any Apple product - wait for them to get it right.

  • IOS 5.1.1 Battery issues Fixed?

Title, in iOS 5.1 there were still battery bugs, are they fixed in 5.1.1? Or are they worse?

For me, going to 5.1.1 made my battery worse. When I had 5.1, I could use my phone (iPhone 4) heavily during the day (voice, text, safari, apps, etc) and finish the day with 50-60% battery. I updated to 5.1.1 yesterday and can watch the drain happen.
For instance, this morning I took my phone off the charger (100%). After an hour off the charger with very light safari usage (over wifi) and a text conversation, my battery had depleted to 92%. It has been off the charger for 2.5hrs and I am currently at 80%. So I'm losing battery at a rate of roughly 10% per hour. I'm planning to restore back to 5.1 when I get home this evening, I'll never survive a workday at this pace. I haven't used voice yet, which I did yesterday. I lost 10% battery during a 10-15 min conversation.
So, mathematically, if the drain continues and I use voice for a 20 min conversation, my battery will be completely dead in an 8 hr day. Makes doing business hard. So, if apple doesn't solve the mysterious ghost drain by the time my upgrade comes around, I'm going Android. I've had enough of this. My iPad works great, but the iPhone hemorrhages battery life ever since iOS 5. 5.1 slowed it down some, but 5.1.1 opened the floodgates again in my case.

  • Is there any software to fix battery issue of iphone 5? please let me know and how to do that.

software to fix battery issue of iphone 5??? please
    thank you

Depends on which issue you have. Apple is working on an update to address a calendar syncing problem with Exchange accounts. Do you have an Exchange account?

  • Battery Issue still not fixed

This is my first iPhone.  I like the phone but the battery issue is not resolved.  I downloaded the software fix and it did not fix it.  In fact it might have made it worse!  I have to keep everything turned off all the time or the battery is used up in a few hours.  What good is having the phone if you can't have anything turned on.  I see no difference in the battery life even with the software update.  I don't mind charging it each night, had to do that with the Blackberry too but I don't want it going dead mid day when I have barely used it.  Has anyone found a way to keep the battery at a decent level all day?

why don't you search the forum before asking a question that's been asked and answered over and over and over and over again?
There are a multitude of postings with excellent suggestions on how to maximize your battery life.

  • Semi-Scientific Test on iPhone 4S Battery Issue w/two iPhone 4Ss

    All,
My wife and I ordered identical 16 GB iPhone 4Ss. They were set up the same way. From the very start, I could tell that her battery was outperforming mine.
After a day of turning off and on various settings, from Location Services, to Siri, to iTunes settings, etc. I still noticed a huge gap in stand-by performance. I was losing 1% per 10 minutes, her phone was not.
Today, we had similiar usage with similar network characteristics (WiFi, decent 3G coverage) starting from a full charge (100%). After 8 hours, her phone still had 52% remaining. Mine died on the way home from work.
So tonight, I performed a test. I plugged both phones up and allowed them to fully charge to 100%. While plugged up, I ensured each setting on the phone were identical, including the number of Exchange accounts, brightness level, etc. At 9pm CDT, I unplugged them. My phone took a long time to get from 99% to 100%, her phone didn't. Mine also went to 99% upon unplug, her's didn't.
Neither phone was used at all, stayed completely in stand-by mode. At 10:15pm CDT, ...her phone remains at 100%. Mine is now at 92%. That's roughly 1% every 10 minutes on my phone, same thing I saw earlier in the day.
I think this, for me at least, confirms the diverse results folks are seeing. Some folks are seeing major battery issues, some are seeing better battery life over other iOS devices. It just so happens in our house, we have one of each. Why would two identical phones behave so differently? I've exahusted all possible options on my phone, including the recently posted attempt at deleting e-mail accounts and resetting network settings.
Does Apple recommend that I do a restore on my phone? I am trying to do so, but I am having issues re-downloading iOS 5. If I still see the same battery drain, I believe I will take this into the Genius bar.
I do believe it's time that Apple address this battery issue. I for one, based on experience, believe it's real, and could be a manufacturing defect. I don't know how else to explain two identical phones having vastly different stand-by results if my restore fails to fix the issue.

After spending 2 days troubleshooting I have found my battery drain culprit. When I turn my wifi on it coninuously disconnects and reconnects to my network. This was draining my battery about 1% every 4 minutes. I went through all the turn this stuff off, reset network settings, setup phone as new, helped some but still had the issue. This morning I set mine and my wife's up the same, she went to work and was playing music on the way in. Still had 100% after 40 minutes. I was at home with wifi on and dropped to 90%.
I charged my battery back up, turned wifi off and now after an hour still have 100%. This is with siri on, icloud on, notifications on, etc.
Can anyone else confirn this is an issue for them. I am trying to determine if it is hardware or software related.
    Thanks

  • A suggestion for those with battery issues:

When I first got my iPhone, I had the same battery issues many people here are talking about, in fact I posted about it myself. Its fixed. Very fixed, and Im very happy with my battery life. Here is what I did.
First, do not charge it using your USB connection. At least not always. Why? I dont know. I did the first few days, and couldnt get a full charge even tho system wasnt going to sleep. I started using the wall charger, and got longer battery life, but still not great. One night, I forwarded the phone to my home phone in case I got a call, and shut the phone down completely, and put it on charge. In the morning, I woke up to a 100% charged, fully glowing battery icon. The battery lasted all day with no issues. Every night after that, I just charged it on the wall charger, but did NOT shut it down to see what happened. I am still waking up every morning to a 100% fully charged battery. The battery life seems to get better daily now.
Today, I ran wifi for about 5 hours because I forgot to shut it off. This was after going to the pool and listening to the iPod on the phone for about 2 hours. And using the phone normally throughout the day, checking mail, sms, etc. Really a full day of work, and my battery is still over 50% full. I purposely didnt connect it to anything during the day for a recharge, not the USB or wall charger.
Good luck, hope this helps. Id be interested to know if it does.

    Here's my non-scientific experiment.
After surprising battery drain for the first 10 days or so with not much usage, I completely drained the battery yesterday until the phone shut off.
I plugged into AC charge and was worried when it didn't seem to even begin charging.
I plugged into USB, assuming it needed to charge enough to at least complete a sync.
I left it on USB until about 5-10% charge, then switched it to AC. At about 50% I needed to use it, so I did but sparingly, and put it back on charge, all the while keeping Mail on manual and WiFi off.
I took it off once more to get it home from the office, then plugged into AC.
    I left that charging overnight.
I never actually got the "glow", but did get the plug icon showing full charge in the status bar.
After about 2 1/2 hours this morning, the status has not moved off of 100% (but with little usage as before).
This is definitely an improvement already though. Hope this helps.

  • IPhone 4S update to iOS 5.1 singal and battery issues

    Hi,
I was on 5.0.1 and had no issues at all loved the phone and my battery life. Eversince I updated to 5.1 my phone signal is awful, 2 bars when I had 5 before, constantly floating, calls drop for no reason. Yesterday nobody was able to reach me until I restarted my phone. Switched phone on in the morning yesterday and I get no service for around 30 minutes, after restarting 3 times it finally found network.
On o2 got my iphone from Apple unlocked.
As to battery life I can loose around 10-20 % in 2-3 hours not doing anything just in stand by, my battery issues were solved with 5.0.1 but started again with 5.1
What is apple doing? it is to say the least frustrating as ****. Fix one thing then break another, or break 2 while fixing them. It ****** me off.
I tried to restore my phone 7 times already set up as new and still no improvement.
One more interesting issue is when you go to your purchases in App store, and click dowload and app dissapears and then reappears on home screen few minutes later once it is done downloading.
Anyone else with this kind of a issue?

    Honestly guys,
It is either apple is blinded by their immense success which will not last if they keep going the direction they going. They should have more time to test their products thouroughly before they put their production line on overdrive. Company this size ignoring issues like that.
I think new Ipad will have problems as well, it seems this line up 4S and new ipad is kind of transition point to a newer devices and were made just to get something out on the market. Using same CPUs same formfactor.
My problem is I payed a fortune for it and it doesnt perform, I dont pay 600 pounds for a phone because I want to have issues with it. What they are doing is plainly ignoring these problems. Battery issue been going on since the release of the phone, going to be a year soon.
Microsoft and Apple changing places, look like microsoft going the right direction now with Widnows 8 and mobiles where as apple comes up with something like Lion which I hated and now Mountain Lion which plainly is running out of ideas and starting to implement some features from iOS, these are completely different devices. They do not need to be the same, they werent created for the same purprose.
I was on apples side all along but they are blinded by their pride in leading this revolution that they choose to ignore these issues. Relying on peoples stupidity to show off things like ipad 3 is 4x faster than tegra 3 where as in real results it came out 15% faster.
Apple get his fixed before it is too late. Scared to buy your products now!!! Good thing I didnt get iPad looking at overheating issues it is having, and also not charging from cable while in use but draining battery. No thanks

  • Help with iPod mini (Battery issues)

I am an owner of an iPod mini (1st generation) that I bought in February from Amazon. The mini has constant battery issues that have led me to suspect a bad battery within.
For instance; I leave my mini in it's charging cable overnight, and it reports "charged" in the morning. I leave it for the rest of the day in my coat's poket but during my walk home from the bus stop, I find that the mini's battery is completely DISCHARGED and doesn't work at all. I'm sick and tired of having my battery last only a minute before it completely dies on me while walking home.
Can anyone lead me to a source of help? I NEED to get this problem fixed as I don't want to listen yo all my music while having to be hooked up to a cable.
iPod Mini (1st generation)   Windows XP   Battery discharged in a minute.

    Edited by an Apple Host
Apple will replace your battery (if its within one year of purchase, no receipt needed, just the SERIAL # on the back of your mini), and you can get repair for FREE, just $32 for shipping and handling, OR you can, if an Apple store is near your home or in your town, take it to them, and get a REPLACEMENT mini on the spot, for FREEEEE!!!
Try those methods, but i HIGHLY suggest you take it to an Apple store first and see their take on the issue!!!

  • 5.0.1 update - battery issue - check usage/standby stats

There might be more than one problem but i did find mine and fix it.  Check your usage and standby in general settings and if they are the same, then you have the same problem I had (they should not be the same).  If they are the same, that means your phone is never going in standby mode.  I fixed the problem with a complete reload.  I did not choose to restore from backup because I wanted to be %100 sure it was a fresh load of the software, so I setup as a new iphone.
Background: I upgraded from v4 to v5.0.1 a few days ago and started having battery issues.  I went to the apple store and they did some diag test on my phone/battery and said everything checks out good.  They said my options were to buy a new battery or drain my existing batter to zero, let it set for two hours, then recharge to %100 again and see if it fixes my problem (it did not). The person at the apple store ask me if that sounded like a good plan, I said no, not really (does not make much sense), Im not buying a new battery, especially since you said mine checks out good, but i will try the recharge and see what happens.  So, I was back to square one and then a friend told me about the usage/standy thing. Maybe this is a bug in the software when you do the upgrade (or at least for me) and v5.0.1 works fine from a fresh install.  My phone battery is working great now.  Looking at my usage stats now, I have 1 hour, 19 minutes usage and 3 hours, 17 minutes standby, and %90 battery.

Glad that a Restore as New resolved your issue...

  • Forget the battery issue for a moment,

I think the battery issue will be fixed, I think there are many reasons for it, I'm not going to speculate. What I would like to know is if you can forget the battery issue for a moment, What do you think of the 4S itself, the camera, mirroring onto apple tv etc...have you been happy with the phone and its functions and if it didn't have a battery issue right now would you reccomend it? I'm thinking about buying two of them and that is a substantial investment, just wondering if it's everything its cracked up to be...Thanks!

Yeah it's a good phone.  It's my first iPhone.  I came from a Droid Bionic, so I am use to no battery life.  I usually charge it at my desk at work and it last all night until I get back to work.  I listen to music on my car, so it's tied to the USB input to my car, so I don't really have an issue with the battery.
The camera is really good.  For a point and click, it's fast and the pictures are clear.  They only thing I run into, which is on every phone camera is smudges on the lense.
It took a lot of getting use to going from the Bionic 4.3" screen to the 3.5" screen.
I don't have the Aple TV set up, so I can't answer that.
What I like about Apple products?  They work.  Very simply, they just work.

  • Re: BATTERY ISSUE

    Hi,
i am new to forum so excuse me if I'm in the wrong place. My iPad 4 has done the new 7.1 update and the battery life is only half what it was. I see lots are saying the phones have the problem but not so many talking about iPads. Mine is so bad that if it shuts down and is put on charge, as soon as it has enough power to turn it self back on it auto shuts off again. This never happened before. Also if I'm say watching a film while charging it used to be that it would soon be up to 100% but after the update it takes hours to get to 100% if I'm using it. What has happened. I was about to buy a new battery but thought it odd it went down hill so fast rather than a gradual loss of life. I then googled about the battery and discovered all this about the new update being a problem and funny enough that's when my problem started to. I'm not a techno  person so have no idea what to do. Should I just put up with it and wait for a bug fix?  I have done what I can think of as no Bluetooth and put the brightness down but it's still very poor. I'm so disappointed as I'm a big iPad user and loved it but now I have to pick when to use it as it can't keep up the demand it did before.
Help a newbie out and be as kind as you can, oh and ps please use simple instructions lol. Thank you thank you
      Suzie

Try this first -  Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • MacBook Pro Battery Issue

    Hello,
I am one of the many consumers suffering from the bloating battery issue found in the 17inch MacBook Pro. I have found tons of info on this and people are reporting even the second or third battery having the same issue. That being said, is the issue really with the battery or with the computer? I know they put out a software update that was supposed to fix the problem, does that point to a problem with the computer?
A few apple representive said the battery breaking out of the casing was a safety feature, is there any way harmful chemicals are released when the seal on the component is damaged leaving the battery exposed?

Well I would call back and tell them there are numerous instances where the battery replacement has been honored as part of the exchange/replacement program, especially since it is safety issue.  Get a case number, next time you speak to someone.  And if you don't get a satisfactory result, call back and escalate the call to customer relations.  Until then turn off the computer and don't use it.
