Battery lasts only 4 hours

My I phone 3 helded a charge much longer. does anyone know why these don't. I shut the apps. any other suggestions?

The iPhone 3G battery loses around 20-30% of its original capacity after 300-400 charges/discharges. That means around 2 years of use.
If you charge your iPhone before being full discharged you're wasting a charge cycle, so you could lose 20-30% of its original capacity much sooner.
Apple offers a battery replacement program. You can find more information about it here: http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipho ne

I have an iPhone 4s just eight months, it is normal that the battery lasts only 3 hours? please help me thank you very much.

Three hours if definitely NOT normal. I get at least 48 hours out my 2 year old iPhone 4S' battery with light usage. Did you do the iOS 7 update on the phone it self (OTA) or through iTunes? In my experience most problems are caused by the OTA updates. For this reason I ALWAYS update using iTunes on my computer.
I would suggest restoring your phone using iTunes on your computer and setting it us as a new phone. This downloads a fresh copy of iOS 7.1 from Apple and installs it on your phone. Just make sure that you transfer all purchased items (apps, music, etc.) as well as photos to your computer before restoring as the restore will completely wipe your phone. Do not restore from a back-up. Yes, you will loose all your data on the phone but restoring a back-up can restore the problem you are currently having back to your phone. Once your phone has been restored you can manually sync back your apps and music.
Before restoring you can also check to see that battery-killers like Location Services, Background App Refresh, etc are only turned on for the apps that really need it. I recently read and article that said that the Facebook app can be a real battery killer. If you have this app installed turn of location services and background app refresh for this app and see if that helps. Also go to Settings / General / Restrictions / Location Services / System Services and turn off all the options in that menu. Your phone does not need any of those to function. Constantly using your phone's GPS is a huge battery killer. I only have Location Services enabled for Find my iPhone and Background App Refresh is turned off completely.
    I hope this helps.

  • MBP not charging till 100%, and the battery lasts only for 1.5 hrs

I have a MBP which I purchased in 2009 July, I have noticed when I charge my MB the last goes up to only 97% and the battery lasts only for about an hour and a half. I am still under warranty till 2012.
How much is to to change the battery at apple, or is it covered under the warranty and how long will it take.

  • MBP 15'' 2011 battery lasts only 3 hours!

    Hi
I bought MBP 2011 15 inch last week and received it on Monday.
    My configs are
    Model Name:          MacBook Pro
      Model Identifier:          MacBookPro8,2
      Processor Name:          Intel Core i7
      Processor Speed:          2.2 GHz
      Number of Processors:          1
      Total Number of Cores:          4
L2 Cache (per Core):          256 KB
      L3 Cache:          6 MB
      Memory:          4 GB
and I also upgraded to high resolution.
So far, I'm pretty much enjoying my new MBP
But I have one main concern with my new laptop's battery time.
The battry time is really really short!
When I first turned it on, it took 3 hours to drain the battery. (starting from 98% or so)
And I did calibration thing so that the battery runs more "efficiently"
Of course, I didn't expect that calibration would make the battery last longer, but no matter what,
I only get 3 hours of battery life and I'm not even doing something that would drain my battery fast.
I just do simple web surfing and word documenting on about 30-40% brightness (or even lower sometimes)
And I get only 3 hours of bettery time.
So is this because my MBP has four i7 cores or or what?
Previous MBP 15'' models seem to last at least around 5 hrs doing exactly same thing.
And considering that I have been using my MBP only for 5 days or so, I'm worried that the battery life will become even less!
    Maybe like 2 hrs?
Is this a particular issue with my laptop, that I can return and exchange to new model or get fixed without fees?
Or is it just built this way that all the MBP 2011 15'' models have this kind of short battery life?

OMG turning off the Bluetooth just gave me like extra 3 hours of battey time! (6 hrs total)
I didn't even know it was turned on in the first place because I never touched it.
I guess bluetooth is on as a default setting.
Thank you so much for advice.
I feel so stupid, but please be understanding since it's actually my first MacBook.
But I'm really glad to find out that I was wasting battery with bluetooth on, and now I can get better battery time.
    Thanks once again!

  • After Bell Update - My battery lasts only 8 hours

    Hello
I have a Nokia N8. As there was Symbian Anna on it, I have optimized my battery consumption. It was running at least 2-3 days.
Now after upgrading to Anna it lasts only 8 hours. This is really not much.
What can I do? I have no Apps like Skype or WhatsApp running. Also I disabled all autostart apps with SafeManager.
    Thank you

    Hello
I think I found the solution.
I am patricipant of Nokia Beta Labs. So I have a lot of Beta Apps installed.
The last update for Store QML client (http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/store-qml-client?req=true) helped a lot.
But the major Battery consumer was the new Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 (http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-maps-suite?req=true).
If you have installed this, than you have to install Pulse as well!! (http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-pulse).
In Pulse, there are two options, wich you have to disable both.
Then Symbian Belle goes even longer than Anna! =)
Here is some ohter discussion about the same topic: http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-maps-suite/bugreport/43877/complete-battery-drain-overnight
    This helped alot.
    Thank you all.

  • Macbook pro mid 2011 battery lasting only 3 hours

How can I get my brand new Macbook pro mid 2011 battery to last longer, now it's lasting only 3 hours.

Do not believe the advertised specs from any manufacturer regarding battery life.  In the real world expect about 60% to 70% of those figures.  Battery life is influenced by many factors,  Among these are display brightness, the number and type of applications you are running, if the optical drive is used, external devices that may be attached etc.
3 hours seems a bit low but not necessarily out of line.  Go to SYSTEM PROFILER>POWER and see what it says by 'Condition'.  If it is other than 'normal' you may have battery issues (Explanations then can be found in FINDER>HELP).
    Ciao.

  • 2  year old iPhone 3GS battery lasts only 4 hours?

    Hi,
My iPhone 3GS (bought in July 2010) battery lasts from 4-6 hours with light usage (no 3G, 5 mins of web browsing, 15 mins of music playback). It is definitely not an issue of iOS 5 as it was giving much better battery life even after the update. Tried restoring but no change. Also, sometimes it displays random battery charge percentages and shuts off on its own. When it is fully discharged, it takes 30 minutes minimum for the iphone to boot up even when connected to an iPad power adapter. Should I replace the battery?

Did you restore from backup or as new?  If from backup, restore as new and see if the problem continues.
If it does, take the device to Apple for evaluation of the battery.

  • After updating to 10.4.11 my battery lasts only aprox 40 min.

I noticed this as soon as I got done updating to 10.4.11. My battery lasts about 40 minutes unplugged if I'm not using computer. It lasts about 10 hours on sleep.
Before the update it lasted about 2 hours or longer when not in use and after 10 hours of being in sleep only took about 3-5% of the battery.
I've done the battery updates months ago.
The battery is only about a year old and I didn't have any of these issues right before the update.

Check your POWER in About this MAC,
System profiler. You should have higher than 300 cycle count and close to 5000mA
Mine is about 1100mA and lasts 8-10 minutes before complete shut down.

  • Battery last 3 hours..no use

my 6 month old Curve 8900 started acting up yesterday around the time of the network outage. it died very quickly yesterday after i took it off the charger at work around noon....it was in the red by about 4 or 5 with literally NO use.
then last night i charged it, took it off at about 610am, and by 1030 the phone was shutting off due to low battery. i probably had about 4 emails, a text and a few BBMs...phone was on silent, and no other apps were running.
i hear people complaining about bad battery life and how it lasts only a 1.5 days, and my phone was just like that up until Tuesday....what gives???????
    thanks!!!!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
I witnessed similar circumstances last night. Here's what I think...digital phones are designed to cycle their power usage based on the quality of connectivity to the cell network. When the network is high strength, the device uses less of it's battery power. When the network is at low strength, the device uses more power to try and push for a signal. When there is no signal from the network, the device will push at it's maximum trying to acquire signal from the network. Part of the outage last night shut down the data networks of the carriers -- my signal indicator went from normal 1XEV, to 1xev, and finally to 1x...which meant that my BB was having to push with all it's might to find signal...which wore down the battery really fast.
So, all of that said, what I suggest is waiting...see if things return to normal operation now that the network is up and stable again.
    Cheers!

  • IPod mini battery lasts only 1h

I own an iPod mini 4gb which I bought 3 months ago.. From the time i started using it I noticed that its battery life was low compared to the one written on its features (about 6hours).. Now after a full charge if i dont use my ipod for about a day then it wont turn on and if i turn it on right after it is charged then the battery indicator raches its lowest point within 2 mins and it remains there for about an hour and then my iPod runs out of battery.. Dows my iPod has a defective battery? If it does will I get a free repair(incuding shipping costs since i live in cyprus)? Is it a software problem?

If your battery dies or cannot maintain a charge, Apple’s Service Request process will:
    - Replace it for free during the first 6 months of the warranty**
    - Replace it for a shipping charge (~$35) after 6 months and prior to the 1-year period **
    - Replace it for free if you have the additional AppleCare policy (this extends the warranty to 2 years)**
    - Replace it 'anytime' for a $59 charge (was $99 until 7-8-2005)
b This is regardless of where it was legitimately purchased.
i ** See the ‘Battery Test’ link below. This is how Apple determines if the battery is not performing. If the iPod’s battery lasts less than 50% of the ‘up to’ metric, then Apple considers it a problem. For example: This means less than 4 hours for a 1st Gen Mini and less than 9 hours for a 2nd Gen Mini. -- Best to perform this

  • IPod nano battery lasting 2 hours. Options?

I've been docking my iPod nano (first generation) on a speaker system I recieved that charges the iPod whenever it's docked. Now, my battery lasts for a maximum of 2 hours. I've been searching for ways to replace the battery, and i've seen the battery replacement system for iPods without a warrenty. Is there a better/cheaper way than that, and is it even worth replacing the battery instead of just getting another iPod? I'm kind of stuck here. Any help is appreciated.

you can try the advice here for getting best battery life...
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipods.html
you can see if completely discharging/charging it a couple of times makes a difference
if you've already tried that, there are non-apple (i.e. cheaper!) sources for battery replacement, depends which country you are in, try putting "ipod battery replacement" in google for options
assuming you are in the usa, try...

  • Battery lasts only up to 2 hours??

I just got my brand new 2nd gen iPod Touch today (32 GB) and completely charged the battery. After less than 2 hours of use, probably more like an hour and a half, the batter was 3/4 of the way down. Shouldn't it last longer than this? Could there be something I was doing that wore the battery down so fast?
    Thanks!

all the battery articles/threads say turn the wi-fi off if you aren't using it. BUT in my personal experience it acts more like a mobile phone trying to find a network. if you are within range of a wifi network you have access to, having wifi switched on won't really effect your battery that much. if you aren't, and it is constantly looking for a network, the battery will go down much quicker.
that's if you aren't using it. i listen to a 3 1/2 hour radio show over wifi, this will drain the battery quite drastically.
joaquinx is right about the brightness, you should have that set on the lowest setting which is acceptable to you.
it also depends what you are doing with it. are you playing videos/games? they will drain the battery very quickly. if you are just listening to audio, the battery will last much longer.

  • MacBook Pro 13" Battery Lasts Only 2 Hours

I have Snow Leopard (10.6) installed. Why is this happening?

    Hi LeonardoGolden,
You should definitely be getting more than 2 hours with that sort of Full Charge Capacity on your machine. I have the same model and a slightly lower battery capacity and I'm getting 4+ hours of web surfing and document composition.
Out of curiosity, how is the machine being used? It's obviously a pretty new unit (with only 3 cycles), if you go into Activity Monitor, change the drop down to "All Processes" is there anything consuming more than 10% CPU load? What applications are using during this two hour window?

  • My battery lasts only 3 hours or 4 with the new OSx Lion instead of the 6 to 9 that lasted with Snow Leopard

    Anybody has the same problem?

Yes, same problem. There are a lot of people having the same issue, as noted in this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3194235
Resetting the SMC has done nothing. I'm on a 2011 15 inch MacBook Pro running 10.7.1.
    This is not good.
