Battery & network problems after upgrade to ios 5.1.1

The day I upgraded my iPhone 3g to iOS 5.1.1 It started to given me Battery and Network problem.
Battery Problem Details :
1. Battery life last for only 2 to 3hrs after being full charged (i.e. to 100%)
2. If i use the phone example try to use a App or browse a website in 1 min the battery life drops down by 20 to 30 %
Network Problem Details :
1. I keep lossing network connection
2. I have to go to setting and choose it manually each time. Keeping it on Auto doesn't work
Note when my phone was on iOS 5.0.1 it use to work without any of these issue
Please Help

My network problem has been resolved after i did a Reset (all Setting) but the battery life is still a problem.
I have read on other post that 5.1.1 has caused many user battery life issue. I have tried the resolution that people are saying resolved their issue i.e. to drain the battery and then charge it to 100% leaving in on Charge for more 1.5 hrs but this too did n't work for me.
I did a Restore and Reset and other trouble shooting step but none has help till now.
Hope Apple is listening.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

  • Problems after upgrading to ios 6.1.2

After upgrading to ios 6.1.2 my iphone4 no longer recognises the docking station - anyone else having this problem, how to i fix it?

I have the exact same problem following the software update. My phone doesn't work with my handy clock dock, nor will it work with my FM plug-in for my (old, pre USB jack) car. Is this some ploy by Apple to get us to buy only Apple-brand accessories?

  • Smb protocol problem after upgrading to IOS 8

    Hi,
I use SMB protocol to connect to Windows share folders in our company.
Using IOS 7 on the iPad was working great until i upgrade one iPad to IOS 8.
I can't connect using SMB protocol on the iPad with IOS 8. With an iPad with IOS 7 still works great.
The settings are the same. I tested Goodreader v3 and v4 and FileExplorer program on the iPad with IOS 8 and on the iPad with IOS 7.
The problem is only on the iPad with IOS 8. It does not matter which program I use. All are not working.
On the iPad with IOS 7 all the programs works just fine.
It seems that after upgrading to IOS 8, I have problem connecting to the share folders in Goodreader v3, v4 and in FileExplorer.
It seems the problem is not on the settings of the server, account etc, also not program related but with the IOS 8.
Does someone have this problem or now how to fix this?

    Hi all,
I have run some more test and the problem is not with the SMB protocol but to connect to a DFS server.
One share name like company.local and behind this we have some servers.
The problem is with the DFS name (routing) When I connect directly to one server share location, it works fine.

This appears to be a problem that's affecting a number of users and has been widely reported. My guess is you're going to have to wait till they do a software update.

  • Email problem after upgrading to ios 8.1.3

After upgrading to ios 8.1.3 my wife and I are having problems with our separate iPods downloading email messages from our Hotmail accounts.  Synchronisation can be slow, sometimes doesn't happen, and at other times the header information downloads but a message says the content could not be downloaded from the server.  Swiping down to do an email refresh doesn't solve it.  Closing down the email app and switching the iPod off and on does cause the message to download properly.  Of course it could be a MSN/Hotmail problem, but it seems suspicious it has coincided with the 8.1.3 upgrade.  As a cold reboot solves the problem, I think it is a problem with ios 8.1.3.

I have this exact problem with gmail and have been unable to solve it. I checked my account, smtp settings, everything is as it should be. I deleted my account (twice!), and then added it back in. No help.
The problem however didn't appear right away for me on my ipad (3e gen). It occurred rather spontaneously in the last week of february.
Strangely, it recognizes my account, and I can send e-mails with it. So the problems seems to be on the receiving side. It recognizes the structure of my gmail, but all the folders are empty. On my iphone 5 I do not have this problem.
My workaround for now: download the google gmail app and use that to check my mail. Sending still works with the ipad mail app. But it is frustrating not being able to use this to receive mail.

  • Problems after upgrading to iOS 5.0...

    Hi,
maybe it's been said and maybe it's a matter of the iPad 1, but after upgrading to ios 5.0 all my apps started to reset when used. Is there something I can do to avoid this?  I tried resetting the iPad and nothing....
    Kind Regards

If the apps that are crashing are third party apps - not the Apple installed apps - try downloading another app - any free app will do. That resets something in your iTunes account and it should allow those third party apps to work again.
You said that you reset the iPad - but if you didn't reset this way - try it - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
You can also try quitting all apps and see how the iPad behaves once you start using apps again. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
You could also try restoring the iPad if nothing else works.
A number of us are experiencing issues with this update. Apple announced that an update (iOS 5.01) is coming soon and it has been released in Beta to developers. Hopefully, the general public will be getting it soon and it will help resolve some of these "buggy" things that some of us are experiencing.

  • Had a huge problem after upgrading to iOS 4

After upgrading my iPhone 3G to iOS 4 I got a message on my iTunes telling me that "There's a problem with your iPhone"...
Then when I tried testing it out, it was very laggy the slide bar takes a couple of times to get my iPhone open up and the letter keys "I", "K" and "M" then keys "8", "@" and ' isn't working either...

I couldn't post anywhere so I thought to bump this one up since it's the same issue I am experiencing with my iPod Touch 2g 32gig. I decided to upgrade to iOS 4.0.2. After the new OS installed, an error message popped up on my laptop saying unable to restore my music (which was fine with me). I clicked on OK then the screen on the iPod Touch went black. I have been trying to rebooting it by using the suggested reboot/reset method: holding down power button and Home button at the same time for 10 seconds. I have tried simultaneously holding the two buttons for 10 seconds also. But neither worked for me. Right now I can't get it to turn on anymore.
One thing to add, my laptop no longer recognize the iPod Touch due to this issue.
    Please help suggest.
    Thanks in advance

  • Fix for my iPhone 3Gs WiFi problems after upgrade to iOS 4

Posting incase this helps. I upgraded to iOS 4 on my 3Gs while away from home and came home to find that I couldn't get a reliable connection to my home WiFi which had been rock solid when I left two weeks ago.
My network consistes of a telco supplied router & ADSL box connected by LAN to an Airport Extreme which then connects wirelessly to an Airport Time Machine in another room (actually a steel lined safe room so I have to be sure that the door is open). The Time Machine is set to act as a range extender as is an Airpot Express N I have connected to a hifi.
Well after rebooting everything and scratching my head I took a look at the wireless settings on the base Airport Extreme. *It was set to 802.11n only!* I, therefore, have no idea how my iPhone was able to connect to this up to now. *I've set it now to 802.11n (b/g compatible)* and the iPhone once again connects and re-connects without any trouble at all.
I know the 3Gs is not capable of 802.11n but I can assure you that for the last few months I haven't changed that router so it was certainly working in that 802.11n only mode on that apple router.

Hey, that's a great tip for others who are having issues to check out. Thanks for posting your findings!

  • Keyboard problems after upgrade to iOS 8.02

has anyone else had problems with the keyboard obscuring the screen since upgrading to iOS   8.02?. I cant see what I'm typing.

    Hey Dizzy blue,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with your iPad after updating to iOS 8.0.2. If you have not yet already done so, let’s try restarting or resetting your device:
If the issue persists after a restart, let’s see if we can isolate further by backing up and restoring your device as new:
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
After erasing and setting up as a new device, your device is now in a factory configuration. Test to determine if erasing and setting up as a new device resolved the issue. Content on the device may have caused unexpected behavior.
If the issue is still present, you may want to contact Apple Support.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Problem after upgrading to iOS 6.1.3

I recently upgraded my iPhone 5 to iOS 6.1.3, and started facing the problem with incoming calls.
iPhone 5 is not able to recieve second call within 5-10 seconds of finishing the first call. The problem is hard to notice, as you wont get any error message or warning. The caller hears the user not reachable message. The problem is not with the carrier, as I have tried using almost all the operators available in India.
I even tried using 5 different handsets (all on iOS 6.1.3), and all had this problem. Luckily I got my iPhone replaced and checked for the issue before upgrading the iOS to 6.1.3, and it was working fine. Just to confirm if the problem was there with iOS, I again upgraded the iOS, and found the same thing happening again.
Want to know if this problem is specific to iPhones marketed in India? Was wondering if the issue is with iOS upgrade, it should be happening with all the handsets, but could not see any such post in the community. Or is it just hapening with my iPhone???

This is Apple's official answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559
Also look to the More Like This box on the right for other's experience.
Two other suggestions I have seen (I have no personal experience with either):
Turn on Airplane mode, turn the phone off, wait 30 minutes, turn it back on.
Put it in a ziplock bag (to prevent condensation), put it in a freezer for 15 minutes.
