Apps won't install: BlackBerry Desktop Mgr failed to validate your BlackBerry device update
Just tried out the new Desktop Manager for Mac and it seems to blow up when trying to either install or uninstall applications.
I get the following error:
BlackBerry® Desktop Manager failed to validate your BlackBerry® device update.
Validation failed because a module marked for add (net_rim_platform_resource__pt) is not available on local disk
Some users have reported success with uninstalling an app first, but no luck with me.
Anyone have any ideas on this?
Thanks,
TomHi,
I've had the same problem and I have figured it out...for me anyway. Make sure you have the latest version of Blackberry Desktop Manager and obviously the lastest software for BlackBerry Torch also. So, ths is what worked for me...
connect phone to computer and click on Applications (top right)
click "Check for Updates"
click "Show Other Versions" (if there are no updates for phone)
chose "BlackBerry 6.0 6.0.0.246 (Current Version-Reload)
then select
Once this has reloaded and your device is restarted go back to Applications and add/delete (by checking or un-checking) what you want.
*Warning: I had a fair amount of trouble with error messages or something having to be reset, but after going through all the red tape and turning my phone off and on again a couple times it worked!!
Hope this helps or at least gets you started.

I have a Bold 9900 and using Blackberry Desktop Software on Mac.
How do I deal with this problem?
Thank you.I tried this method already. The problem is that there is no such thing as 'BlackBerryDesktop' but instead I just have 'BlackBerry'. And also, there are no 'Logs' either.

Blackberry Desktop Software Failed to validate your blackberry device
Blackberry 8310 was running slow. The people at the ATT store said I need to update the software. Downloaded the newest version to the desktop and when I tried to upload it to the phone received the following message
"Blackberry Desktop Software Failed to validate your blackberry device update"
"Aborting install due to validation failure. Some packages contained unsatisfied dependencies"
I am sure others have seen it. What do I need to do. Thanks MikeGlad to hear. I just did this again last night, and I think I've isolated the specific program that causes the problem, but I can't be sure.
I think it's "Documents To Go".
People might try deleting just that one program first in Options > Applications > Add-Ons if they didn't want to delete everything else too. It's worth a shot.

LMS 3.2 device updates failing?
Have upgraded from LMS 3.1 to 3.2 then applied all the software updates ok.
Now applying device updates - they are failing but can't see a clear reason. The Activity Log > Event Log doesn't really provide any clues. I'm guessing the relevant log file would be the psu.log ? [see attached]
Not sure if messages like
oid : 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.7.5.19 not found in E:\CISCOW~1\lib\classpath\com\cisco\nm\cwcs\mdf\mdfdata.xml
are part of the problem?
Thanks for any troubleshooting pointersThe SYSobjectID you mention is of an HP device so that is not likely to be your problem.
Got any problems with devices not being recognized?
Tail of psu.log looks normal to me.
Cheers,

my software update fails every time I attempt to update. I have restarted the device, selected software update but when it get to the end of "preparing software update", it fails and says the update was not successful. any ideas?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore. -
LMS 3.2 RME Device Update failed
Hello experts,
I got a new error on my LMS 3.2 with RME 4.3.1
I can´t install any of the RME Device updates.
e.g. : "Installation failed for product [Resource Manager Essentials] with message : com.cisco.nm.xms.psu.packagemgmt.InstallerException: Repository in use. Another Package Support Updater client session may be modifying device support."
I looked up for a .lock file in my CW dir but there is no one.
NMSROOT/Psu.Lock and NMSROOT/www/classpath/com/cisco/nm/xms/psu/Psu.Lock does not exist.
There are no other .lock files in the CW dir and subdirs.
I attatched a psu.log file. Maybe u will see the failure.
What I tried:
- Restart daemon
- install from cisco.com
- install from local dir
... everytime the package installation failed.
Bye,
PatrickYou will need an identical server (RME 4.3.1) with an updated/healthy package repository. If you have that, you can follow these steps to regenerate maps:
1. Shutdown daemons:
net stop crmdmgtd
2. On the bad server, delete all .zip files under the two RME package repositories:
NMSROOT\www\classpath\com\cisco\nm\xms\psu\pkgs\rme
NMSROOT\MDC\tomcat\webapps\rme\WEB-INF\lib\pkgs
3. Copy all of the packages under one of the above locations on the good server to both of these locations on the bad server.
4. Delete your bad rme*.map files under NMSROOT/www/classpath/com/cisco/nm/xms/psu/maps/ and replace them with the good ones.
5. Restart daemons:
net start crmdmgtd -
Application launch failed. Ensure that the device screen is unlocked - after the phone update
I have the following error "
Error 1 Application launch failed. Ensure that the device screen is unlocked and device is developer unlocked. For details on developer unlock, visit http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=195284. 0 0
I'm pretty sure it happened after the last update. I was able to use my phone as a dev one before
and my account shows it as a registered device.
The OS version is 7.10.8107.79.
The steps that I tired
-Registered again my phone with the registration tool
-Check the issue with Zune auto-launcher (zune isn't syncing and the phone is connected)
-Close and start everything again
Other possible issues
- Do I have to have sdk 7.1 to deploy?
- Do I have to wait 24h for registration? You should be using SDK 7.1 anyway, so install that.
After the update, the phone may have locked itself. This may not be reflected in your AppHub account though. Using the Developer Registration Tool, register the device, unregister it, then register it again. -

Help?
Thanks,
Doug
1630 blocks used (approx)Unfortunatly the update server is having some very strange hicups every now and then. I've been able to reproduce this once on a sparc box. What I did was basicly running 'smpatch analyze' for a second time, followed by the regular 'update' command after which things worked out for me.
Some strange things also occur when you sometimes run the 'analyze' command, and then run it again. Sometimes you'll be presented with 2 different lists of available updates. -

What ports need to be enabled on a firewall to perform an on-device update to IOS7?
I am working in schools using iPads and need to perform IOS7 updates on multiple devices.
I can update by plugging into iTunes but this is a slow process.
When I try an on-device update the iPad downloads the file but fails at the verification stage.
What port would need to be open to allow this part of the update process?
I'm also having issues turning on the switch to allow automatic app updates on the ipad. It turns on then turns immediately off again. Is this the same port?
I know there is a lot of documantation around with all of the ports that need to be opened but the ICT unit at the City Council are not keen to use the scattergun approach.
I'd be really grateful if I could solve this one for the schools I work with. The Acrobat Family uses TCP HTTP/HTTPS for all traffic. The following processes and ports may be active on a Windows client machine:
AdobeARM.exe - automatic updates - port 443
AcroRd32.exe - brand messages - port 443
AcroRd32.exe - links in documents - anything specified in the URL
Acrobat.exe - brand messages - port 443
Acrobat.exe - links in documents - anything specified in the URL
AdobeCollabSync.exe - Tracker review data - port 443
The same ports are used by the program components on OS X.
There are no inbound listening ports for any elements of the Acrobat Family. Automatic updates are not pushed and there are no server processes within the software. -
Can I report on massage Failed to wake up the device
I have a bundle to wakeup machines for patch and updates. I would like to be able to report on the failing ones. when they fail I see a message under each failed workstaion that says "Failed to wake up the device". I need to track down these machines to see why they do not wake up.

kind of...... We created a vb script that reads a txt file exported from zen of mac addesses, IPs and machine names. It does a ping, wakeup if not active. a modified script runs again in a few hours that just does a ping. if machines do not respond back we look into why.
We exclude laptops from this and do that in a seperate script. this also alows us to keep tabs on what users NEVER take thier laptops home with them. We we can wake them up evernight then they obviously do not need a laptop ;)
