BB speed reset

Hello,
After 5 months of on and of broadband connection it seems to have been fixed. I have asked tech to reset my SNR this is now 6.2DB the speed is still at 3.29meg I was told I can get up to 7 meg what do I need to ask for?

  • Double-click speed resetting after reboot

    Hi,
Every time I start my MacBook the mouse and trackpad double-click speeds resets themselves to very slow.
I've installed all the software updates, and tried repairing permissions from single user mode, but nothing seems to change.
It's tough to live with because I'm a very fast clicker (drink lots of coffee) and prefer the double-click speed to be set to maximum.
I'm using Leopard (10.5.5) on a brand new 15" MacBook Pro.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
(I'd even settle for a startup script that sets the speed on boot.)
    Thanks!

I have been having this exact same issue for several months now. I followed the instruction re: deleting the .plist files, but the problem persists... however... today I discovered something new, and perhaps it might help with the troubleshooting.
I started my machine today and opened my System Preferences to reset my double-click speeds (before my system finished it's start-up routine), but to my joyful surprise they were already set where I like them (2nd fastest setting). I started working in different programs (Mail, Firefox 3.0.3, and Adium 1.3.2) and noticed that my double-click speed had slowed down. I re-opened System Preferences and indeed... both double-click speeds had been reset to zero.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Trackpad tracking speed resets since 10.5.6

Since 10.5.6 and the new solo trackpad preference, I've had an issue with the trackpad tracking speed resetting from my fast setting to a slower one. It seems to happen when I use my mouse and wake from sleep with the mouse plugged in.
It may be a conflict with either the Kensington Mouseworks preference panel (I have a trackpad at work) or the software for my Razer mouse. But before I start tinkering with those, I wonder if anyone else is having problems with the speed setting?

See if this will work for you. Let us know.

  • Line speed reset

    Hey,
When i first had Infinity installed I was achieving a speed of almost 40mb. I had several problems with my local cabinet and after a couple of engineers all seems to be fine. But I've noticed a drop in my speed and after a latest test (using BT speedtester) it is sitting at the below:
Download speed achieved during the test was - 21.22 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 12 Mbps-22.61 Mbps .
    Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 22.61 Mbps
Can i get this reset to see if I can obtain my first speed? I believe an engineer told me it is possible but I just can't be bothered with fighting with the India call centre.

this can take some time  DLM is relucatant to make any improvements in a hurry. Based on a comment elsewhere (by ironside123 if I remember right) it seems that it can be a couple of weeks before you see any improvement, and then more than a week before it is fully back where it should be.   I've had a completely stable line for over a week performing way below its potential and not yet seen any improvement.  But I am still reasonably confident that DLM will fix things eventually; just giving you warning of what some time might mean.

  • OSX 10.4.8-mouse and trackpad settings reset

Another problem after the 10.4.8 update: whenever I plug in my mouse (Razer Diamondback) or modify the mouse driver settings, the trackpad and mouse tracking speeds reset to the lowest values. I've repaired disk permissions. Anything I can do?
(I know that Razer gaming mice typically do not have Mac drivers, but the Mac driver for the Razer Pro is exactly the same thing)

    Hi there,
I am having the same problem with my Powerbook G4. Since last update of OS, them ouse settings are lost all the time I reboot (normal Apple wireless mouse). I checked and I can not do all of the other changes in the other properties and also can not change system password. Nothing gets saved. When I try to run theupdater again I get message that the file can not be mounted.
VERY BAD. Could not find a solution yet

  • Speed falling, connection drops out

My BB speed used to be about 5.4Mb. Then BT upgraded the exchange and it fell a bit. Then it suddenly dropped to 288K - after 2 weeks I called BT and an engineer came round. He said the drop in speed was caused by me turning off the router during the day and at night - the new exchange needed me to leave it on; he got the speed reset and it was about 7Mb for a week, then dropped to 2Mb - now is at about 6K and I assume will keep falling.
I leave the router on 24/7 as the engineer said I should (though I am NOT happy to do this as it uses power and as it gets warm it could be a fire risk) - but about 1 in 3 days the connection has dropped by the time I get home from work, or it drops overnight.
I am using a Netgear router that has NO issues before the exchange was 'upgraded'.
(When the connection 'drops' the router shows the internet connection is active but the PPP has failed).
Please BT - un-upgrade the exchange (Bristol BS3) so I can have a reliable usable connection again.

    Welcome to the forums.
Can you email us at [email protected] with your account details and a link to this thread. Can run some diagnostics from this end to see why your connection has dropped so much.

  • How reading Rpm speed from fp quad 510

I have an encoder of 2500 ppm quadrature differential signal, and i link
    this with a FP_quad_510
The value reading count/microsec how is possible to transform in RPM?
Why if i use the FP configurator in the edit device/channel if i setting a

Courtesly i would like information of field point quadrature encoder end

    Thank for answer Nicola

    Thank's for answer,
Now i have try to coerce the 1,25 range and i select customer value. This

  • Why does the error console continuosly keep filling up ? in yellow, pink & blue messages ??

Ok, first I am using an older, slower Mac G4 400 Mhz, PCI, "YIKES" model machine. ..... The problem is that after browsing mail for 1/2 hr., Fire Fox slows down a lot. Most likely related to my machine speed. I understand that and this machine is a backup computer. I can cure the speed problem by closing FF, and relaunching it, and speed is fine for another 1/2 hr. or more. Then repeat the close and restart for speed reset as needed. This seems to clear a backlog of info. slowing down the CPU.
THE REAL QUESTION IS; Why does the ERROR CONSOLE keep filling up with messages in pink, yellow and blue, warnings, errors, and (blue) website not supported messages ??.
The message copy & pasted in the trouble shooting info. box is the first one to show up immediately after "clearing error console" window (5 seconds later), it will be filling up as I type now. and I don't know squat about coding or deep workings of computers, I am to old to start learning now, but it just seems to me that the "ERROR console" should not be filling up with every mouse click I make while browsing mail & websites I use everyday, that are working just fine as far as I can tell.
I have watched the error console fill up as I brows, usually 1 mouse click can produce 4 to 8 lines in the error console, clearing it out doesn't seem to affect the speed problem at all, so is unrelated to speed (??) I think.
But the Question is ??? why does the ERROR CONSOLE keep filling up with all these messages when FF seems to be working fine ????????
There are now 15 (PINK) separate lines of the same message in the console window, just while typing this out. 0
Reply to ;<[email protected]> ..... I am really curious about this and await an answer. Thank You. wayne

Hello, took me awhile to find this out, but...
Get the combo update for Intel-based Macs...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateintel.html
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), & use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, reapply the Combo Update.
    Repair Permissions afterwords, reboot.

  • Broadband issues

I have spoken to BT multiple times regarding this issue and as of yet after 3 months of trying have not managed to get it resolved.
I took on a new business and the owner of the building already had 3 phone lines so I agreed to take one of these off him and at the same time i also arranged for a broadband account on the line, I was using a Bt business hub (I actually have 2 but they are both the same results wise)
Issue 1 - If I use any router other than a BT homehub 2, my line only syncs at 8mb despite me being on ADSL2+ and 400 yards from my exchange, however with the homehub 2 I get 24mb sync speed, but still only 448 upload sync speed.
    Issue 2 - 448K upload sync speed
I called BT who admitted that a fault was present and sent out an engineer who could not find any fault, he tried a brand new homehub 3 and a brand new business router neither of which would sync at the higher speed, he couldnt explain this neither he nor any of the "tech support" I speak to have apparently ever heard of this issue before.
What he did say though is that the line stats indicate that my line is capped and I should ring and ask for the cap to be removed, anyone I speak to is adamant that the upload speed has not been capped and the best offer I have had so far is to set the line back to the 10 day training period, which I accepted and it made no difference.
The homehub 2 is to be quite blunt rubbish, I don't like them, the menus are not user friendly, getting simple information out of it takes far to long and it is SLOW.
I ran a speed test last night on the BT speedchecker site and results are as below
Download speedachieved during the test was - 19248 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4000-21000 Kbps.
    Additional Information:
    Your DSL Connection Rate :23896 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 443 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 21083 Kbps
    >Upload speed achieved during the test was - 366 Kbps
    Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 443 Kbps
I have also recorded the line stats from my router which indicate no faults or issues and I should be getting over a 1mb connection up, results as below
    ADSL line status
    Connection information
    Line state Connected
    Connection time 42 days, 1:27:50
    Downstream 23,896 Kbps

  • Internet connection very slow - ISP blames my computer...

    Greetings,
I have DSL connection that has been running very very slow... dialup slow... I use airport, so I unplugged it and connected the ethernet cable directly to the comp - with no results.
I called my ISP, they tested the modem speed, reset the modem & went through all the settings - with no results. The modem speed is fine, so they say the problem is with my powerbook. I've rebooted the computer numerous times, also I recently cleaned up my hard drive (which has been full for months) and I currently have 14gb of free space.
What else can I do? Are there any diagnostic utilities/etc you can recommend?
Thank you in advance for all your help.
    powerbook g4 Mac OS X (10.3.9)

You actually are close enough to their 3meg down that you can't complain. 2.8meg down and 700kb up is fine, unless it's supposed to be their FIOS that is.
Sounds like it is the site(s) that are slow, like these boards at times.

  • Burner Blues

Tried just about everything I've seen on this forum and still no luck. Reset PRAM, tried different media (Memorex, Maxell, TDK, Phillips), tried a slower speed, reset permissions, etc..... Can't burn anything to any type DVD, or CD.
I just tried to burn about 100MB's of MP3's from iTunes but was told it was too large for 1 CD! Then I tried a purchased DVD that I watched on this computer the day I brought it home and it wouldn't even read it....... just about 45 seconds of noise and the DVD gets ejected! From what I've seen posted here I kind of think the OS upgrades might have something to do with it. I'm about to try and re-install the OS after I move a ton of digital pics off the iMAC. Any ideas of what to try next would be greatly appreciated!

Re-installed the OS last night and burner now works correctly.
Plays purchased DVD movies, burned a CD from iTunes, and burned a DVD with about 250 jpeg's! Still seems like there are certain types of media it doesn't like. Burned a DVD-R (Maxell) but it wouldn't verify it, then burned the same files to a DVD-RW (Phillips) and it worked fine. Also now shows all the burn speeds available. Hate to think that a OS upgrade caused those problems but that's sure what it looks like!

  • DSL keeps dropping out - why? :(

I've had Inifinity 2 for a couple of months now and was very pleased with the service initially, high speeds and reliable connection. I work from home so the connection is very important to me.
The last couple of evenings the connection has been dropping completely and taking several minutes to come back up. It's not just the HomeHub, the fibre modem's DSL light goes off as if there's a line fault. This happens repeatedly throughout the evening, usually starting from about 5.45pm. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it, it just drops. Nothing has changed here, it has literally started out of the blue. It doesn't matter which devices are connected - wired desktops, laptops, wireless phones/tablets/PS3. It just keeps dropping at random.
I even noticed it a few times this morning.
So, what do you lovely BT chaps need to know from me in order to sort this out?

Thanks. I've now had 2 engineer visits so far and although they temporarily fixed the problem it has now happened again and is really starting to drive my hubby & I crazy!
The first time the engineer came out he checked the socket wiring in the house, found no problems, got a cherrypicker in to check the line at the pole (unsafe to climb apparently) and that improved the speed. He then checked at the modem and found that the cable the engineer (contracter?) who fitted it hadn't fitted the connector properly, some known issue with a fitting tool or something - so he sorted that out and woohoo, back up to full speed - 75mb+
That was fine for a couple of weeks.
Last Monday morning the connection dropped out. Then repeatedly dropped out every few minutes all afternoon, making it almost impossible to work. The speed had also dropped to 35mb according to various online checkers, including BT's speed test, which registered our speed as poor. I gave it until Tuesday just to see if it resolved itself/was a temp problem. No joy, still slow as you like - though no more drop outs. Contacted BT and an engineer came out the next afternoon.
Lovely chap, did all the same checks as before, no faults found, nothing wrong with the wiring. He even tried tugging on the phoneline to the house while checking the line, made no difference, so didn't seem to be anything wrong with the line to the house. All equipment indicated capable of full speed 80mb. All the engineer could say was that there was nothing wrong with the line, but clearly there had been something which caused the line to drop out and the cabinet then dropped our speed to stablise us. He requested a speed reset and all was well (ish) thereafter at about 60-65mb. Not quite as fast as the previous chap got it, but a darn sight better than 35mb.
The next morning another engineer turned up, unaware we'd had a visit the previous afternoon. I told him all about what the engineer had said the previous day and what had happened and he went away. Note I did tell him that he was welcome to come in and have another look, but there was nothing currently wrong for him to look at.
Last night (Sunday) the line dropped out a couple of times - again, no apparent reason. And once again we find our speeds capped at around 35mb. Doing the BT speed tests throws up odd results, telling us we have 0mb to the house and 38mb inside. Odd! I've been on to BT all morning, they tried to pass me onto a paid tech support line which I refused as both engineers have confirmed this isn't going to be something software/settings related - it happens regardless of which computer/laptop/device we are using wired or wireless, the line can even go down when we're not using it.
So, it's been logged on the last fault which is still open and being investigated. I have asked if they can please re-set the line speed for us but have been told this would only be a temporary fix. What else can I do? Something out there is making the line drop out and then we get speed capped. BT can't find a fault.
None the wiser as to why the connection sometimes drops out, but this is clearly the cause of the speed drops as the cabinet tries to stabilise things. We're only a stone's throw from the cabinet and both engineers say we should have full speed.
Could the modem be faulty and causing the drop outs? I don't know. I really don't know what else to do at this point. I guess we're going to end up with another engineer visit, but suspect all he can do is tell us the same thing and get the line reset.
Is there any chance our ancient BT wireless phone could be causing the problem? - we do get a bit of crackle on it, although the line itself is apparently clear of noise when tested. It's not connected to the same socket as the router, but to an extension downstairs (which was originally the master socket, but the engineer who fitted infinity swapped the sockets for us as we needed the fibre upstairs).
Anyone got any other thoughts as to what it could be? Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it?

  • Verizon refuses to disable ASSIA on my dsl line

For the past 8 months I've had problems with the internet speed lowering, so once a month I've had to call Verizon tech to trouble shoot and reset my line. Same thing for months! Anyway, this past week they sent a tech out to check my lines, and as usual, nothing is wrong (they've come out many times). So...they decide to send out yet another Actiontec GT784WNV, my current one is only 3 months old, the previous one was barely a year old! They keep saying it's the modems! And the thing is tech has actually said they see nothing wrong with my modem, then I get transferred to someone else saying it is the modem! It just goes around and around.
I've spent hours upon hours talking with tech and there's never a solution. I came here to the forums looking for anything that might help... I came across a few posts regarding ASSIA, that's the program that Verizon uses to "optimize" the dsl line and it seems that is what might be causing the problem on my line. In the posts about ASSIA people have said to call Verizon and get them to disable ASSIA on the dsl line and to get the speed reset. It looks like the people with my problem that have gotten it disabled has fixed the issue. So, I decide to give it a try, and call Verizon to get it disabled. Nope, they won't do it because it cannot be done. I pointed out that other customers have had it done, still no. Then they gave me another excuse: they WON'T disable it because it's not part of their troubleshooting. They keep escalating the issue (3 times this week alone) but nothing is ever fixed and I never get called back! And when I came across the one thing that might actually fix the problem they refuse to do it!! I even showed the phone tech the pages on the Verizon forum where they are talking about ASSIA and how disabling it has helped (we were on screen sharing) and that was completely ignored. Unbeliveable!
I'm on a dry loop and my line is provisioned for 7 mbs.
So here I am posting this because Verizon phone tech will not help.

  • Verify Error 0X80020063

Very long story short. Burning DVD's from the finder. I am making a burn folder and putting in a DVD and burning photos for archives. I was getting the 0X80020063 error often. Like 50% of the time. I changed brands, DVD's speed, reset the computer with Tech support tried internal superdrive 1 & 2, reloaded the OS and finally I was able to burn 11 in a row with no coasters just after the new OS. Then I took the updates and burned 11 in a row and considered the problem solved. Then tonight I needed to back up an actual job and the first one was bad and the second one was bad. I have checked the DVD's and the data seems to be all there but I have not opened up 200+ RAW images to check. I am currently using Taiyo Yuden premium DVD's in 8x and 16X. One thing that keeps happening is that when I change something like DVD's or the above mentioned things, I have gotten results indicating that the new part has fixed it only to find out shortly that it is not true. I am desperate for help with this as or business in behind right now. Doug

Update, I just burned 3 good ones and i'm working on the last one. The only thing I can think of is there might be a relation to doing things on the computer like browsing photos or files while the process is burning. It is an 8 core machine with 4 gb of factory RAM so I would think I could multi task with no trouble. I feel I should be able to video edit with FCP in while burning DVD's but have not even tried that because of these issues.
I did have this problem right out of the box originally in Jan 08 and then I was not burning disks like this much until June. When I burn DVD's with I-DVD I never had a bad one although I can't verify that the program verifies the DVD. I believe the disks are ok and it is a software issue but I need to protect the integrity of these images for my clients so I need to be sure. Any help is appreciated.

  • Can you make core center automatically close after being called on startup?

Can you make core center automatically close after being called on startup so it can set cpu fan speed to a slower fixed speed then exit?
If core center really cant do such a simple task then can speedfan or another program?

Why don't you want them running. Speedfan has a very small footprint.
Just seems unnecesary seeming as it does its task as soon as it runs and its changes then stay applied. Speed fan is probably better but core center takes 10mb.

You dont have to have it running to set a user specified fan rpm .
Once it's set it is stored in the corecell/cmos chip on the motherboard .(until a cmos reset) .
So to answer your question .
There is no need to have it autostarted at each boot ...
Thats how i have used it .
Only reason to have it running is with MSI's "CnQ" control of the fan , varies with the load of the processor
Thats strange for me the speed resets to default as soon as I restart my pc (about when the bios engages which is however tangibly after the graphics card fan revves up to its full speed). Depending on the temperature of the proccessor it goes to 3300rpm (less than 42c) or 4500rpm (too loud for ~45c IMO and MSIs "cool&quiet" option seems to agree, it doesn't even set it as high as 3300rpm)
