BB torch 9860: BB and return buttons freeze

Hi All,
I experience an issue since a while with my BB 9860. The BB button and the return button work only after clicking like a mad man on all the buttons.
It doesn't seem to be a hardware pb because it comes back from time to time and works correctly until the next freeze; ie: when I leave my phone for an hour or so.
Does anyone have the solution for this issue, I intend to replace the screen, do you know if this solves anything?
Thanks for your help
cheers, Frederic

You can contact your carrier/service provider for additional troubleshooting steps so that you may take advantage of the warranty support (which is for free) that they provide.
Actually, that's not quite how it works. That advice is accurate only if you also bought your device from the same carrier that you are now operating on. But, if you obtained your device from anywhere else (e.g., non-carrier affiliated shop, other device-only reseller, eBay, etc.), then if it indeed turns out to be a hardware problem (which, from the tests so far run, is not yet a conclusion that can be viably reached), warranty service and other formal support is provided elsewhere...refer:

Hopefully, this information will be of use to you.
Hence, since the OP has stated they are moving on to the next steps, we shall await the outcome of those.
Cheers, and Good Luck!

iPhone 4s keypad, the "o" and the return button are not working. Upgraded the software, now the "o" works in the verticle position only, and the return works in the horizontal position only. Help!

    Hi, VRS77.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would start with closing any open applications in multitasking and restarting the device.  If unfamiliar with multitasking, I have included a screenshot on how to process an application close.  Test the results after processing these steps.
iOS: Force an app to close
If the issue persists, here are a couple addition troubleshooting steps I could recommend.

  • Storyline and return button issues

I've been trying, with little success, to create a menu with multiple tracks and markers in the tracks. I have about 20 tracks with markers inside each track. The client wants a play all function, and then be able to go to specific marker points. Now here is where I'm having a problem. They would like to be able to go to a specific marker and play then, when that marker gets to the next marker to stop and go back to the menu you started at. I have been trying to create this but can't et the marker to stop at the next marker and return to the menu. Also I need the preceding marker to function like the last. Also I'm having problems creating a return from the tracks to the menu they selected from. I hope I explained this well enough. If not I will try again.

This is a classic scenario with DVDs. You have multiple menus that access the same tracks, you need to play individual clips, also play all clips AND get back to the correct menu each time.
Much can be accomplished with stories and chapter markers. There are two main approaches:
    1) put end jumps on each chapter marker to go back to the correct menu and button but ONLY if the chapter itself is reached from a single menu. Add a single story and put ALL markers from the track into that. This story container can have its own end jump and menu call added - set your play all button to go to the story container (not the chapters) and the whole track will play. You can also set the track end jump and menu call as you wish.
    2) Add twenty stories per track (one for each chapter) and don't put end jumps on the markers. Instead, put a single marker into a single story container, add the menu call and end jump on the story and set the buttons to play a single clip to point at the appropriate story instead. For the play all, point the button to the track itself, and not a story. Set the menu and end jump for the track to go back to the single menu it gets activated from.
However, if you have more than one menu that has buttons which play the same track (i.e. menu 1 and 2 both point to the same markers on track 1, or to the same stories) then you have a problem knowing which menu to go back to. This is only a problem if you have buttons on each menu that do access the same stories, tracks or markers somehow. In this case you MUST use scripts, or you set up a separate story on the tracks and point to those. You can have up to 98 additional stories per track if that is all you are adding to your disc, so there is massive flexibility to do a you need. Scripting will be initially harder to accomplish if it is your first go, but will ultimately save you time as there is actually less to do than if you set up loads of stories.

  • Can I add a save and return button to my online questionnaires?

Hi,  I've created a rather long questionnaire in forms central, utilising skip logic rules to allow those completing the forms to ignore sections that do not apply to them.  However, some users have asked whether it is possible to save and return to the questionnaire at a later stage to complete, either because it is taking too long or they need to research an answer.
At present if thy leave the form part way through the data is lost.
Is there a save function for online questionnaires with skip logic?
    Please help.
    Thanks
    T

I support TA257, I subscribed to Form Central being a heavy user of FormEntry hoping to switch to Adobe product. Huge oversight from my side as I have the same issue as T, my users cannot fill their form in one attempt, it requires customer interaction and repeated entries. If they close the browser they are done, all work wasted! This makes it unsuable for me. Beautiful product, if a "save and continue later" feature was available it would give you the edge over all the offline products available. Even if the user had to login to be recognized later and even with a time limit before the uncompleted form gets deleted if there are serve space issues...
As a heavy form user (with another provider) and Adobe advocate I urge you guy to consider these requests. Adobe's functioanly, reliability and name alone would give you competitive advantage over the other products. When you have users like me that have spent thousands of dollars on competitor software, a server for data collection and distribution on a solution like FormEntry and ready to dump it all to switch to Adobe for a simple feature, I think you guys should at least consider as I am sure I am not the only one. Your forms can be used for much more than a simple "quick data collection" tool, extensive data colletion, field reports etc... This would unlock the possibilities of a mere data colleciton tool.
I know the offline form can be saved but in this competitive market a form without logic or features does not compete with other competitive products.
    Thank you for listening.

  • Taskflow and Return Button

    Hello,
I have a bounded taskflow, which has several train stops. I would like to have a back button in each train stop page, which should return to the main page (unbounded task flow entry).
Is this an acceptable solution, or there is some other way of restarting the whole process?
    Thanks!

User, please always tell us your jdev verison.
You can add a parent action to the task flow which hosts the train stops, set the parent outcome to 'back'. Then you add normal navigation to the parent action (name them all 'back'). In each of your train stops you add a button which you use to navigate to the parent action.
In the unbounded Task flow you add a wild card navigation to the page you like to get back to from the train. Name the navigation 'back'.
Now, when you hit the back button in one of the train stops you get back to the page the wild card rule is pointing to.

  • Need help on how to re-install/wipe OS on my BB Torch 9860

Can anyone in the house please give me a breakdown on how I can wipe completely my blackberry torch 9860 device and re-install a new OS without any fuss, thank you.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
To WIPE, it all depends on exactly what level of cleansing you wish to do...refer:
Article ID: KB16307 Actions performed by the BlackBerry smartphone during the removal of stored user and application data
As for OS reloading, the simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:
KB19915How to perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software

  • Torch 9860 - Stuck on Boot (even after BBSAK)

    First of all,
    Hi !
    Now to the issue,
I battery pulled my 3 weeks old Torch 9860.
And it got stuck at 75% of the boot sequence.
    Since this has happened I:
     - Left it for a day.
     - Battery pulled thousand times
     - Reloaded the software, Both 7.0 and 7.1 (twice) And BBSAK & Apploader both say it was successful.
Now I'm desperately looking for a solution !
Thanks in advance. I'm not English native but I'll get everything

Dude I got to be honest. after all the steps I've been through. This is the only thing that helped me:

Once the update was completed my phone restarted and again its frozen in the welcome screen. I am not able to connect my phone to my PC. Its still the same. I restarted my phone, nothing works.
Is there anything else I can try.
    Hi there,
Sounds like a hardware issue ! Still if you want to try then use BBSAK or JL_Cmder to wipe your device then load a fresh OS pack .Or first be sure that your battery is good enough then try those steps again :
    ( Credit JSanders )
    1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed. BlackBerry desktop software
    2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
    "c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
    3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
    4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
    5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.  BlackBerry Software Download Site
Just select the appropriate carrier and network type, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.

    Hi salmaatty
Have you recently installed any application before this Problem started ? Think carefully any new application , theme , wallpaper or any recent app update !
If you have then try to boot your device on Safe Mode , On Safe Mode delete any application which you think might be responsible for this issue , from Options > Device > Application Manegement > locate and delete any newly installed 3rd party application , it might help in resolving your issue :
KB17877 : How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
KB10040 : How to view or remove installed application on a blackberry smartphone
However .. If above fails or you're unable to boot your device on Safe mode then to recover your device you have to reload your OS , Try this method to load the OS again :

  • My blackbery 9860 crashed and freeze quite a lot

hello blackberry support.. i hope you can help me...
my blackberry 9860 crash and freeze quite a lot and it's annoy me..
i have the bundling OS which is 7.0.0 bundle 2395
i still have 93.9 mb of application storage...
2.2 gb of built in storage
and 97.2 mb from media card...
what should i do to get rid of the crash and freeze??

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Finding out what is wrong is a matter of deduction...there may be a badly behaving add-on app causing it. There may be corruption in your OS. There may be a hardware level issue. You may be leaving too many apps open. Some apps may have memory leaks. The OS level you are using may have a memory leak. Many possibilities exist...so it's a matter of deduction for you to figure it out.
I would suggest starting with a clean OS reload. At the top of each device forum, there should be some "sticky" threads that discuss the OS levels available for many models. If they include your model, then please use those as reference as you proceed. Otherwise, you will have to dig through the official download portal for OS packages for your model:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try this procedure to perhaps narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

  • I have an iPhone 5 and recently when I try to copy and paste the app freezes and returns to the home screen please help.

When I try to copy paste my app freezes and returns to the home screen please help.

    Try resetting ...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that didn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    Then restart your iPhone.

  • When I open a slde show in New Yahoo Mail I can't get back to Yahoo. When I click on the "back to Yahoo" button, the screen freezes with a gray cast over it and I have to use the back button and forward button to get back to my inbox.

This problem started immediately after I upgraded to Firefox 9.0.1
If I open my inbox in my New Yahoo Mail, then open an email with attachments and then open the attachments to "view as a slide show"....I can't close the slide show and return to the email by clicking on the "return to Yahoo" button. If you click on it, it returns to the first pic shown, and if you click on it again, the pics disappear and a gray haze appears over most of the screen but none of the features under the gray screen work. I have found that if I hit the back page and then forward page buttons, I can get back to my inbox eventually, but this is a terrible "pain in the ass"!

MY screen continually freezes up. I've tried closing all apps that are open and have held down the home button and start button simultaneously but neither helped. Can someone out there help me?

Well the next couple of things to try would be to reset all settings, and if that doesn't help, it's probably time to restore the iOS software.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. That will take all settings on the iPad back to factory defaults. It will not delete anything and you will not lose any data, but you will have to enter all settings again ...WiFi passwords, enable Siri, select your wallpaper, adjust brightness, turn on location services and set privacy settings, etc, etc.
You can read about restoring the software here.
iTunes: Restoring iOS software - Support - Apple
Should you decide to restore the iOS, it is extremely important that you back up first so that you can restore from the backup and then sync with iTunes afterward in order to restore all content back to the iPad. It is all covered in the kb article.
If you do not sync with iTunes, then I assume that you backup with iCloud. In that case you can erase the device in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. Once again, backing up with I loud is I,operative before you do this so that you can restore from the iCloud backup after you erase the iPad and start over again with activation.
You should read this first before you restore from either backup.

This is a must read before you erase the iPad should you decide to go that route.
