BBM 7 Problems - Can't restore after OS Re-install

I had to reinstall my operating system due to problems I was having.  I had BBM 7 on my phone.
When I restored everything, it all seemed to work fine... then I went to BBM, opened the app and for an hour now I've been stuck in this loop without anything happening ... even going so far as to selectively restoring BBM from my back up file.  Here's a screen image of what I am seeing.  I can't even get into the app.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'd suggest this, in this order.
Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. Then, try the BBID login again and allow BBM to restore.
Remove BBM7 by deleting it from your BlackBerry at Options > Device > Applications Administration. Scroll and find it and delete, and reboot again as described above. Then, after reboot, go to www.blackberry.com/bbm and download BBMessenger again and login your BlackBerryID. (I'd recommend doing this while connected to a WiFi source, but it shouldn't matter, just make it faster).

  • Can I restore my system from install discs when DVD drive is not working?

Can I restore my system from install discs when the DVD drive in my iMac G5 is not working?
There is a disc jammed in the drive and when I try to do an install in Target Firewire mode using a G5 Tower I get an error saying the software cannot be installed on this machine, before I can even select the iMac's drive. I'm using the grey software install discs that came with the iMac.
Is my only option to open up the iMac and get the jammed disc out?
    Thanks

You need to set up the FireWire Target Disk mode installation with the iMac as host, so that it runs its own install disk. The G5 tower should be the target, so that you are "borrowing" only its DVD drive.
Shut down the iMac. Put the iMac install disk into the G5 tower, and reboot the G5 tower into TDM by holding down the T key. Connect the FireWire cable and then restart the iMac while holding down the option key. Hopefully the iMac startup manager will see the install disk that is in the tower; if so then select it and boot from there.

Problem solved - I posted on the general Tiger Discussions as well.
I had the wrong machine started in Target Firewire mode.

  • Problems with a Restore after trying to resolve problems with Yosemite

    Hi there,
I stupidly upgraded my OS to Yosemite without waiting a month or so for any problems to be fixed.
After the upgrade which went really well, or so I thought, all my apps worked, and I was very happy with it until I switched to Bootcamp to to find that I didn't have the option to select Bootcamp as startup. Although I had the BC icon on my Mac desktop, and I could access it from my Mac, I couldn't switch over.
    So I did a restore to a timestamp just before my Yosemite upgrade - and this went... sort of well... I panicked when I thought I'd lost all my 10's of thousands of emails but the rebuild went well. The problems I have with my restore are that some of my applications are missing - I just get a '?' in the dock and it tells me what the apps are when I hover my pointer on them. The apps are;
    System Preferences
    Safari
    Preview
    Skype
    Vox
    VLC
    uTorrent
    Tunnelblick
    Quicktime Player
My Pages documents no longer open - it says The required index.xml file is missing but it does manage to show me a quick view in spotlight
I have seen on this forum that this can be due to having more than one version Pages but I can only find one version in Application/iWork '09
I can't see why Safari wouldn't be present because I thought it was part of the operating system, as in Preview as well. I thought that maybe they are still on my Mac but need some sort of reset or something...
My bootcamp problem has been resolved by the way and I can switch to my Windows apps that I use regularly.
So I would really be grateful for help in restoring the apps above. I was thinking that apps I downloaded like Skype and Vox say, I can download again, but maybe I need to delete files etc. before reinstalling these missing ones.
    Many thanks, Maz

Hmmm, problem resolved by restoring forward to my Yosemite backup.
It's the lesser of two evils and I have my Windows apps on my old PC...
So come on Apple and get this fixed - it's absolutely disgraceful that this should happen... absolutely disgraceful!

  • Can't login after 10.5 install on G4 PM, all this threads, still no clue!!

    Hi all,
After reading numerous threads, still I cannot find an answer!
I installed Leopard on my Powermac g4 1.25 DP but I am not able to log in. I can only select the user "other". I have tried resetting the root password and tried to login with username "root" and password "what i previously selected" , but it did not work. All it does all the time is "wiggle" and return to the login screen.
Is it helpful to do a reinstall of Leopard using Archive and Install?? I read this solution works for iMacs.... Does it work for a Powermacs too??
Is it helpful to also change the "user" password (and not only the System administrator (root) password)???
Is it helpful to revert to Tiger and change my password there, before installing Leopard??
When I reset a password in the utility menu on the install disk, I type and retype the password. Should I then click "reset" or "safe"???
I hope anyone here can solve my problem or at least answer a few of my questions. Thanks in advance!!
    Thomas

    Greetings,
You might try to boot the machine with the installation disk, and after the screen where it asks for the language click on the arrow and wait until you see the menu bar at the top of the screen. It may take a few seconds to a minute.
Go to Utilities and there is a reset password selection. Use it to select the user you want to reset the password for. You should then be able to reboot and sign and take care of the other accounts. I've had to use this a time or two at work - it should work in your situation.
After you log in do a Repair Permissions. You can also do it from the install disk, if you still have some issues after the reset password procedure.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • Got a strange problem, Can sync but after sync shows there is a problem and uninstalling

Ok I have the latest generation Nano, Windows 7 (64bit)
    - All windows updates
    - Correct and update Asus motherboard drivers
    - Latest iTunes 10.6 install (64 bit)  also have uninstalled and reinstalled
    - Already restored iPod through iTunes
    The Problem:
I connect the USB cable, the iPod connects and syncs correctly
Windows Devices and Printers shows the iPod in there no problem
IMMEDIATLY  after sync the Devices and Printers shows the ipod with a yellow bang (exclamation mark)  go to properties "error 21 uninstalling"
(go to more information says "usb Mass storage device is not working properly"  "problem with PnP device")
Other USB Mass storage devices work fine (Thumb drives, hard drives, camera, webcam) - though I did take them off for troubleshooting sake.
I'm completly stumped, this is a pretty fresh reinstall of the OS, really not wanting to have to install it again, but if I have to I have to I guess.  I've uninstalled iTunes, Apple Mobile driver, and reinstalled at least twice now.  I have the correct and latest drivers from Intel, everything is up to date.
Also I've already gone into 'Disk Management'  I made sure there where no conflicting drive letters.
    Any other ideas?

I don't think it is caused by a hardware problem on the iPod, and any software problem on the iPod would be fixed with a Restore (which you said you did already).  But can't rule out some odd hardware issue.
Try the "test" this way...  Connect the iPod with iTunes running (disk mode enabled).  In Windows, it should appear as a removable storage device.  Eject the iPod's disk using Windows.  I don't know exactly how you do it in Windows 7, but it would be the same thing you do to eject a USB flash drive or external drive, before disconnecting it.
So, with iTunes running, if you use Windows to eject the iPod (instead of iTunes), does that error come up?
ever time I connect the iPod get a pop up in the sys tray showing it's installing mass storage
That "pop up in the sys tray" does not happen every time you connect another type of "mass storage" device, like a USB external drive or flash drive, correct?  It only happens with this iPod?

  • Can not restore after 1.1.2

This is most likely covered some where else in this form but I can not find it and I am sure that others will have the same problem.
After I loaded 1.1.2 my iphone dose not show up in itunes when i plug in the usb, If I reset the phone it takes really long to load,And the home key dose not really work. what is the best way for me to go about restoring my iphone if itunes will not detect the phone is connected?

I tried that any thing else, I have reset the phone 20 times now, tried two different cords, both usb ports, and reset my computer, I even tried to see if i could put it in a different computer (Running xp) Is their any way i can turn on a restore mode by holding down the buttons a special order?

  • Problems with Backup restore after HD replacement

    Hi All,
I recently had my HD replaced on my Powerbook through Apple and I am having some significant problems trying to get everything running properly again. Prior to sending my computer out, I did have everything backed up on an external HD using Backup.
When I received my laptop back, I ran the "Restore" function in Backup but things didn't seem to restore properly.
For example, when I open up a Finder window and click on "Documents", I get the following error message: The Volume Documents can not be found". I get the same message when I click on "Movies".
When I open iTunes and iPhoto, none of my music or photos show up.
It appears that the data is on the HD though. From the Finder window, I click on the HD and then on the Users folder and I can see the data in a folder with my old User Name. I just can't seem to associate the data with my current account user name.
I am wondering if this has to do with the fact that they didn't rebuild my accounts that I had set up.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Welcome to Apple Discussions, Rick.I did have everything backed up on an external HD using Backup.
That is fortunate, you can manually move those folders over to your new user. Do not move Desktop. Documents, Library. Movies, etc but rather copy and replace with the folders from your backup.
Here is a list of where your important data is stored ("~" stands for "home"):
    Your data in ~/documents
~/library/application support/addressbook (copy the whole folder)
    ~/library/application support/iCal(copy the whole folder)
Also in ~/library/application support (copy whatever else you need)
~ /library/keychains (copy the whole folder)
    ~/library/mail (copy the whole folder)
~/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist *This is a very important file which contains all email account settings and general mail preferences.
~ /library/itunes (copy the whole folder)
~ /library/safari (copy the whole folder)
~ /library/imovie (copy the whole folder)
    ~/pictures/iphoto library
    ~/music/itunes
    ~/movies/imovie
    If you want cookies:
    ~/library/cookies/cookies.plist
    ~/library/application support/webfoundation/HTTPcookies.plist
    For Entourage users:
Entourage is in documents/microsoft user data
    Also in ~ /library/preferences/microsoft
internet explorer favorites are in ~/library/preferences/explorer/favorites.html
EDIT: I am wondering if this has to do with the fact that they didn't rebuild my accounts that I had set up.Yes.

  • E145: can't restore after Win 8.1 update

Hi all, updated my E145 to Win 8.1 and installed some programs. Then had to do a restore. So pressed F11 on startup and clicked through the messages. As a target OS only 8.1 was listed?! Choosed it and then the recovery process stops. Systems says: PC can't be restored because there's a partition lacking (sorry for the bad translation, I'm on a German Windows).
    So now I'm stuck...
    Any help appreciated!

I appairantly have the same problem on Lenovo E545 so I made a topic about it. Now I found this simmilar topic, any help would be welcome for me 2

  • Can't restore after trying to upgrade to iOS 4.0.1

I tried installing the 4.0.1 update but it stopped downloading when the bar was about 70% full. Eventually I decided to disconnect the phone, knowing that I would have to restore. However, while trying to restore, it stopped again at about 70% full.
I have updated to the newest iTunes
    I restarted my computer
    I changed the USB cord
But nothing happens. All it says is "restoring iPhone software", yet it has completely stopped syncing

Error 14 is not a USB problem, but a CRC problem of OS image.
    Image is corrupted.
Delete it (.ipsw) and it will worked well

  • Can't restore after OS6 update

I tried to update to OS6, then do the restore to the last back up to get all my contacts, apps,  etc. I keep getting an error message that says "ITunes could not restore the Iphone because the back up could not be saved on the computer".  What does that mean? How do I get back my files?

Try all the different passwords you use.
iTunes and iPhones don't set their own passwrods.
At some point you were asked to set a password, and you typed it in.
Now you can try to find it using the method above, or try different passwords you used in the past.
Good luck, and read those pop up messages.

  • HT201210 Iphone 5 problem can't restore on Itunes "The phone "IPhone" coulnd not  ne restored. An unknown error occured (40)"

my iphone 5 need to be restore, but when i restore it on the Itunes, it stuck until the Itunes said "Veryfing blalbalba" and then came up popup The phone "IPhone" coulnd not  ne restored. An unknown error occured (40). Anyone can help me? or anyone know what going on? Thx

See this extract from Apple Support Doc
    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.
As stated, check Hosts file that it points to Apple and not anywhere else.

  • NEO4 Plat Sli SIL3231 Raid problem - Can't boot after BIOS Flash!

Hi, I have and Neo4 Platinum SLI. I had "the problem" a while back with the nVida raid where there was a hang on shutdown. I then created a RAID0 using my two Rators on the SIL3132 controller, and have three hitachi drives hooked up to SATA1 - SATA3. Back then, I had trouble getting my SIL3132 array to be the main boot volume. I could boot when no other drives were attached, but as soon as I attached them, I get the boot disk error after post. Somehow I got it to work, but not think this time, I flashed the BIOS and ran into the same problems, as the BIOS got reset.
First, I went in and re-enabled RAID on the sil3132 controller, and change the boot order to have the RAID voluime be the first boot device, and my other drivers be the next on down the line. Upon rebooting, my system hangs after verifying DMI pool at a blanksscreen for 5 - 10 minutes then gives my the "missing HAL.dll error". if I go back into the BIOS and disable SATA1/SATA2 and SATA3/SATA4 my computer boots just fine. I even completley disconnected my three drives an my system boots just fine. I have searched these forums and could not find anything close to my issue and wondered if it is something I am just missing in the setup. I will say that at POST my IDE devices has always read:
    IDE Primary Master [None]
    IDE Secondary Master [None]
IDE Primary Slave (my first DVD/R drive)
IDE Secondary Slave (My second DVD/R drive)
IDE Third Master (a 250gb drive)
IDE Fourth Master (a 250gb drive)
IDE Fifth Master (a 250gb drive)
    IDE Sixth Master [None]
Is this normal? all my hard drives are SATA. the raptors and three SATAII drives.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Since the Nvida raid problem seems to have been fixed (as far as I read) I would like to go back to using the nVidia raid controller. I just need to back up my system first!
    Thanks in advance.

    Jkmet,
I have noted the same problem, with a USB Pen drive.
If I leave it plugged in and shut down, the next time I cold boot it tries to boot for the pen drive.  What I found out the any time you add a drive before booting the BIOS places it at the top of the Hard Drive Priority list making it the boot drive.  Same thing happens when I plug in a new SATA and does not mater where it is connected.  So, what I have to do any time you add a drive with the power off you have to boot to BIOS reset the Hard drive priority list, then save, exit and reboot to boot from you windows drive.
I am sure this is a BIOS Bug, but MSI states that the way it should would work.
    Roger
When submitting a problem, include a complete list of your system components; include part numbers, all Power Supply Voltages, and their output ratings.  It is almost impossible to estimate what your problem is without knowing something about it. Here is the link to the web site.

  • Error 1604 - Can't restore after 2.0 upgrade

I have already reported this problem to Itunes and made a visit to the "Genius Bar". It was bricked during the firmware upgrade to 2.0 and all the Genius bar could do is restore it to the previous firmware even though I have a receipt showing I purchased 2.0. Ugh!!
Anyway, in searching my hard drive, I cannot find the 2.0 firmware and it looks like it never downloaded in the first place. I have searched for files with ipsw extension and there's nothing, anywhere. Are you allowed to download again for free? Maybe this is why it bricked trying to load a file that wasn't even there? Any insight and/or help greatly appreciated!

People who have still not solved error 1604 and had a bricked iPhone no matter what they tried, might manage to revive it by following these instructions (on how to downgrade from 2.0 to 1.1.4).
    You will need the following:
    - iTunes 7.5 (NOT 7.7)
    - iPhone firmware iPhone1,11.1.4_4A102Restore.ipsw
    Step 1:
Uninstall iTunes 7.7 completely if you have it and restart your computer.
    Step 2:
    Install iTunes 7.5
    Step 3:
Your iPhone should be in 2 states, either stuck on the "Slide to make emergency calls" screen, or you tried to restore before and it's stuck on the new look "connect to iTunes" screen. Either way you're ok.
Enter the phone in DFU mode (You must have the iPhone connected to the computer and iTunes running). To do this, hold the power & the home button down for about 9 seconds.
Why 9s? Well people say 10s, but it depends how slow you are at counting. Too short and it doesn't work, too long and the apple logo appears.
When you hit about 6-7s the screen should turn off, leave it for 2 more seconds and release the power button, STILL holding the home button. If all went well, you should NOT see an apple logo, the screen should be dead.
Keep holding home until windows/Mac informs you that it's found new hardware, OR iTunes tells you that your iPhone is in recovery mode. Remember, screen should be blank.
If you see an apple logo, repeat the process for less time until you get it right. Took me a little time.
    Step 4:
Shift/Option click the restore button in iTunes and select the iPhone1,1_1.1.4 firmware you downloaded.
Fingers crossed it should restore back to 1.1.4.
