Sounds like the Time Machine Local Backup. Try turning Time Machine Off in System Preferences to verify.

But, your real problem is
I forgot to mention that I tried to use Disk Utility to Verify Disk, but it cannot. I get red errors that say the MacHD is corrupt and needs to be repaired. It says that in order to do this I need to use the Disk Utility on the install disk, but Lion doesn't have one!
Boot into Lion's Recovery (Hold ⌘R on Boot), select Disk Utility and then select Macintosh HD and click [Repair Disk]

I have Roboform 6 and CG supplied by Comcast. Extentions tells me neither one is compatible with FF5.0. What can I do?
On another problem, I upgraded against my better judgment because I like 3.6.17 better, but it kept crashing a couple of times a day. Sometimes I was playing a downloaded game, sometimes on a web site or browsing, it happened during various things. I thought maybe upgrading would help but now some of my programs etc. can't work.I found, by searching around here, how to go back to version 3.6.19(couldn't find 3.6.17)and now Roboform works like a charm again. BUT, when I open my Add-on list, CGPS Extension 1.0 tells me it's not compatible with FF 3.6.19. I'm about to pull my hair out, and I can't really afford to lose any(half bald now). I guess my only recourse is to find and reload version 3.6.17. HELP!!

I had Adobe CS5.5 Master Collection downloaded onto my old computer for almost a year. I uninstalled CS5.5 from my old computer and tried installing it on my new laptop, but the installer says that my serial # is not valid. How do I fix this? I have never run into this problem before, and I really need my software back up and running, because I have a sizeable project due in 3 days. Any help is appreciated!

You're ignoring context. On the old Apple Discussion Groups I never posted replies like that, instead giving people relatively detailed answers. The new Apple Support Communities made things worse by introducing certain inefficiencies. Then came Lion. The flood of messages that came with Lion required a painful choice for any of the people who had been helping here: (1) Give quality responses to a few questions and ignore the rest. (2) When applicable, give a brief answer such as the one that you found objectionable. (3) Give up all the other normal activities of life and spend full time trying to answer questions here.
People who needed help with Lion problems seemed to have trouble discovering existing message threads that described how to solve their problems. The people helping here are all volunteers. None of them is being paid for the time they spend here. They all have a life outside of Apple Support Communities. It's arrogant of you to demand that people helping here spend more time than they already do. -
I just deleted and restored iTunes because I had 4 or 5 of each song. After all that I STILL HAVE 4 or 5 of every song. HOW DO I FIX THIS? Or do I just stop using iTunes?
Since this a potentially drastic approach I will remind you that at this point you ought to have a complete backup of your library in case things get worse rather than better...
Select the Music source, select all (ctrl-a), delete, DO NOT SEND FILES TO THE TRASH!
Repeat with other media sources if you wish.
Import your media, get it organized, backup again.
I can recall if I've sent you in the direction of this information yet...
Here are the typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
In the layout above, with the media folder (everything in the red box) inside the library folder, the library is considered to be portable. A portable library can be moved from one path to another without breaking the links between the library and the media and being self-contained is much easier to backup
... but if you are going to start over I'd recommend you work with iTunes rather than fighting it. If you want your own folder structure for your media (I know I do, but generally recommend people don't because it is less hassle) then turn off the option under Edit > Preferences > Advanced to Keep the iTunes Media folder organized, but place your structure somewhere inside the iTunes media folder. That way you get the advantages mentioned above and are much less likely to create duplicates by accident again in future.

Thanks.Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the broken tracks from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

I have CS 6 installed on a Win 7 OS machine. I can not connect to the internet to get updates from within the program. How do I fix this?
IP routing doesn't work the way many folks might initially think it does; functional IP routing requires manual configuration and the establishment of static routes and default routes specific to the local network configurations, and it's very easy to get it wrong, or to get the default route swapped. Multiple NIC boxes don't magically work, either. (Been there, done that, wondered what happened to my network when the paths got reordered or my route settings were messed up, etc.)
Routing configuration errors can be quite subtle, too. (Again, voice of experience. Ever had a thousand-seat office LAN accidentally routing through your desktop? As the, um, unnamed guilty party discovered, getting into that configuration was subtle. Seeing the performance crater on the fellow's box and on the LAN was obvious.)
Knowing how IP routing works is a prerequisite to getting this configuration to work; there's manual configuration required. Clearly something has gone weird here.
What to do? Read up on IP routing. I'll again suggest the threads and the manual mentioned earlier.
And in general, I prefer to avoid using my comparatively expensive Mac boxes as sub-optimal IP routers or as firewall boxes. General-purpose operating systems and generic x86 boxes are going to be inherently poor IP routers. Dedicated routers (or embedded or surplus x86 boxes with routing software loaded) offload the Mac boxes here, and are also typically easier to configure manage. And "real" IP routers can have hardware specific to efficiently routing packets. Use of an outboard firewall or firewall-router box also greatly simplifies gateway routing, too; it's a configuration that many folks and many businesses tend to use. -
I am unable to update any add-ons at all. Every time I try and install an add-on or even the new "show hidden add-ons" add-on, I get a server error. How do I fix this?
You may have triggered some intermittent database issues but it should be running smooth by now. Let us know if you still see server errors.

. How do I fix this? It's just mine. My friends and her moms Iphones appear in both spots so it's not the cord. Help! I've tried uninstalling and redownloading Itunes. That didn't work. I've reset my iphone numerous times. Turned it off and back on. Restarted my computer. Deleted everything off of it and restored it from backup. It works on my friends computer perfectly fine but it won't work on mine. I've tried everythign that the Apple troubleshooter said to do and none of it worked. I need to get it figured out soon because I only have tonight.

I have the iPhone 5 and I keep getting a no sim card message. I have had my phone for over a year now so I know I have a sim card. How can I fix this because it doesn't let me get calls now.
Try resetting the phone. Hold the home and power lock button until the Apple logo appears.If that does not work, turn the phone off and take the SIM out and then put it back in.
If that still does not work, you may have a defective SIM, in which case you will need a new one from your carrier. -
Have installed Camera RAW 8.7.1 and PS says it can not hanle the format, but my camera is Canon EOC 60D, on the list. How can i fix this?
If you use menu File>Open As and in the open dialog use the type pulldown select camera raw then select a jpeg image when ACR opens do you see 8.7.1 in ACR window frame ?
The Canon support ACR EOS not EOC right. What version of Photoshop are you using only CS6, CC and CC2014 can use ACR 8.7.1.

For the last fortnight or so, firefox kept freezing, but it would always fix itself within a minute or so. I did a computer scan and everything was clean and I reduced the number of tabs I had open to try and speed things up, but even when I had only one tab open, it would freeze. Today, it froze and hasnt fixed itself even after 5 hours, and after ive restarted my laptop. A message keeps popping up about 'a script has stopped working' and whatever I press makes no change (stop script, or continue). Im trying to uninstall and reinstall firefox, but I can't uninstall it until the programme is closed. But I cant close it as it is completely frozen. How can I fix this?
Thanks in advcance.Usually uninstalling and reinstalling only helps if the program files are damaged. When the issue if an add-on or setting, then you wouldn't expect to see any change. (I am assuming that you do not remove all your personal data, as that would blow away your bookmarks.)
