Behavior of integration process after system restart

Hello,
we have an integration process used for correlation of two asychronous messages.
So if the first message is sent out, the second message that should be correlated will arrive approx. 5 hours later.
What would happen if the system is restarted after the first message is sent out, but before the second message comes in? Are all active process instances deleted during a system restart or is there some kind of persistence mechanism?

RFC connections do not work after system restart

Hi PI experts!
We're facing a problem with our PI 7.0 system. After each restart of the system, all RFC sender communication channels do not work. When testing the connection in the sending SAP system, the connection test fails. Currently we workaround the issue by manually restarting the RFC adapter after system restart.

Your problem is due to the fact that SAP is not up and running when XI restarts.
there is a parameter in RFC adapter that you can modify in order to fix that

Starting OID after system restart.

Hi All,
I have installed IDM (ofm_idm_win_11.1.1.7.0) on Win2008 server. After system restart I can't access the URL http://machineName.domainName:7005/odsm/faces/odsm.jspx
I have tried to connect after executing "opmnctl.bat startall", which is placed under "D:\ORACLE\Middleware\asinst_1\bin" but not succeeded.
Can anyone Help?

Java Apps don't start automaticaly after system restart

Hi,
Since a few days ago when restarting Java application servers of SAP
Portal, the applications deployed don't start for itselfs.
When starting the instance, the memory stops to increase at 500mb. The
only way to start the applications is by the manual way in:
Server -> Services -> Deploy -> Runtime -> Application -> Start
Application.
After starting the applications manually the instance starts fine.
I already increased some values in global configuration:
From:
InitialThreadCount = 40
MaxThreadCount = 150
MinThreadCount = 40
To:
InitialThreadCount = 80
MaxThreadCount = 200
MinThreadCount = 80
After the restart the applications are not starting automaticaly yet.
I have 4 instances. The first two instances are starting fine, but the problem is happening with the other 2 instances.
Is there any reason for this type of behavior?

This kind of problem happens since 3 weeks ago and the stack of this system (SP09) remain unchangeble since 07.04.2008.
The strange behavior is that the Server 1 and 2 are starting all the apps fine, but this problem is only happens in server 3 and 4.

Spawning another java process after System.exit(0);

I have an application that Im trying to test. Unfortunately one of these tests requires me to spawn another java process after a System.exit(0); has executed. Since this exits the VM its proving very difficult. Does anyone know of a way to restart the VM after the System.exit has run?

If the application is supposed to only have one exit point then add a security manager and disallow all the other exit points. Then you can use Runtime.exec() to start the second application just before the real exit point.
However note that if there are other calls to System.exit in the application then it is very likely that this will cause some unexpected failures in terms of security exceptions.
You could also use Runtime.addShutdownHook() which would run your second app. The hook would be called as the application exits.
You might want to consider what happens if someone just kills the application (say with 'kill -9' or the windows task manager.) In either of those cases there is nothing that you can do in java to make that second application run.
You might also want to consider why you are doing this in the first place. As suggested a script solution is probably a better solution.

Post processing after system copy from standalone to cluster enviornment

I have done a system copy(Backup restore method) from a standalone quality BW (QBW) system to cluster environment (TBW).
The steps I have followed as follows.
. setup the machines in the cluster environment ( Windows 2003 EE server,sql 2005 SP3)
. Backup the current database in the source system
. Given a different SID (TBW) during the System copy installation .its a dual stack installation.
. Restore the database in the target system and select the back up restore method during the system copy database installation step.
.The installation completed successfully and i m having some doubts regarding the post processing steps after this .
We want to retain the same client in the target system ,for this i need to rename the logical name .Kindly assist me for changing the logical name for the extraction of BW delta process from extraction server to BW system and also the other steps I have to follow after system copy.

The db_verify slow gradually after system restart

After do the disk except error check , we found that the disk read is slow gradually after restart the system. but we have not the performance analyse before the disk except error check ,so we can't how to
lead the disk read slowly.
we found the disk read slowly by the db_verify job is slow gradually.
the db_verify command is "brbackup -u / -c force -m all -t online -w only_dbv"
now we don't know the databse reason or hardware lead to the db_verify slow.
could you so kind help me check it?

this is the page in and page out list, i found that after we restart the system ,the page in increase
and i didn't run the db_verify job ,the page in is reduce. does the db_verify job used the memory?
or to say the db_verify job cause the pagein increase and the disk read slow?

We have third party adapter Aria installed in our PI 7.1 system and whenever systems is restarted interface is reporting errors
in default trace and communication dies. but after we manually activate each time it works properly.

Services to be checked after system restart for getting system status

Hi,
We are trying to identify all the services that are to be checked before we confirm that a system is available.
While performing a system status check on J2EE instances after restart of the system , after getting a respone on TELNET to the HTTP Port sometimes the system was found to be not completely up.
We have observed that though the server processes are down HTTP service responds to user requests.
Could you please help identify the other services which must also be checked to be completely sure that the system is UP ?
We have gone through the document "TCP/IP Ports Used by SAP Applications" in SDN.
But It doesn't talk about the ports to check for Java server processes.
For ABAP we do a telnet on Message server and so far we got it right.
Should we check on other services as well in ABAP stack systems to confirm on their availability?

Hi Prateek,
Please use below command to check if JAVA Stack/Instance is UP and Running or not.
jcmon pf=/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile/instace profile name (If your Server O.S. is Solaris or Unix)
Then goto option 20 and you can find there Dispatcher, Server0 and SDM are UP and Running or not.
If everything is Up and Running, then you can goto your browser and paste there:
http://Hostname:5<XX>00
where <XX> is the System Number where your Java enginee/Stack is present.
In order to check ABAP Enginee is Up or not, you can check like this:
dpmon pf=/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile/instace profile name (If your Server O.S. is Solaris or Unix)
it will show your work process are running or not.

Network savings are lost after system restart

I am new to Unix. I have an Ultra1 170E with Solaris 7. I configured the network with ifconfig hme0 plumb; ifconfig hme0 131.107.x.xxx netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 131.107.x.255. However, each time I restart the system it only retains 127.0.0.1. Thanks in advance for your help.

Check the following files:
/etc/hostname.hme0 and /etc/hosts file on your system.
The /etc/hosts file should have the ip address and hostname.
The /etc/hostname.hme0 file should have the ip address of this
machine.
After ensuring the above, reboot the system and it should
show up correctly.

ITunes not responding after system restart

iTunes application not responding after restarting OS X on MacBook Pro Late 2010 Model. The problem first appeared in iTunes 11 on my OS X Mavericks & is persistent in iTunes 12 on OS X Yosemite every single time i restart i need to force quit & reopen iTunes. I have the same problem...downloaded latest iPod update, now icon hasn't returned to Itunes and nano is in what seems like permanent "Do Not Disconnect."

Reuse message after send step in integration process

Hi all,
I have a strange problem....
In my integration process, after some steps, I send a message asynch (in config an FTP receiver). After this I need to reuse the message just sent for a transformation, but the ip dumps. If I delete the send step, everything ends without error!
Is it possible that I cannot reuse a message after a send step? If so, why?

the Interface mapping should be between Outbound Interface for B and Inbound Interface C.
So u can store the B Abstract Message in the Container.
SO your BPM Look like this way...

ContainerToStoreTheValueofB store the value of transformed message(that is B )
THen in TranBtoC (source=message stored in container and Target = C message)

Software Updates and System Restarts

Hi Folks,
I've read many articles posted here on system restarts, but I can't find one that addresses my issue. So here it is...
Regarding the deployment of Software Update groups for Microsoft Updates. I have created the exact same deployment for each deployment, with the following relevant configuration;
Deployment Settings
-Type of Deployment: Required
Scheduling
-Software Available Time: ASAP
-Installation Deadline: Friday morning at 3AM
User Experience
-User Notifications: Display in Software Center and Show all notifications
-Deadline Behavior: Software updates installation [checked], System Restart [unchecked]
-Device Restart behavior (supress system restarts): Servers [checked]; Workstations [unchecked]
My goal is to advertise the updates for several days initially, allowing my clients to install updates on their workstations at their leisure, but then come Friday at 3am, they will be forced to install. However some clients shut their workstations
down overnight, and some may take Friday off, so Monday morning I would like for the updates to install when they turn their workstations back on at say 9am, but postpone the restart until their maintenance window.
What am I doing wrong?

System restart checkbox is used to control what happens outside of MW.
If you have no MW and did not select to restart outside of MW then systems will reboot after installation completes (unless user overrides it and does it sooner). Keep in mind that the 90 minute and 15 minute restart countdowns will be displayed if user is
logged in (unless you have changed the times) if user did not interact with any notifications to select other options like install and reboot ahead of time.
If you have MW and did not select to restart outside of MW, then PC will not reboot until MW starts (unless user overrides it, of course).
If you select to reboot outside of MW checkbox then PC will reboot after installation ends, no matter if MW is set or not.

Why system restart?.

We've a VB application which connects to the Oracle database using Instant client ODBC.
The creation of TNSNAMES.ora,SQLNET.ora and the setting of environental variable PATH,TNS_ADMIN has been done programatically.
But when we create a DSN(programatically)after all the necessary setup in place,it fails with an error:
'ODBC datasource not found,nodefault driver specified'.(Only for the first time,it fails)
But when I do a system restart,DSN creation works fine.
Why would the environmental variables setup take effect only after system restart?
Why wouldn't the DSN creation work without system restart?
Can someone help me with a solution for DSN creation to work fine without sytem restart?

Tried to create anew account, a new administrator account, to no avail.
Found the answer using VMWare Fusion Program. When leaving the vitual machine one, it completely prevents the machine from restarting.
Other than that, I figure I would just have to reformat and reinstall the OS.
