Belkin 54g powerbook card

Just hooked up Express using my TiBook. Belkin PC card (Broadcom chip) sees Express and Airport Setup says it is connected. Air Tunes works.
However Amber light just keeps blinking.
Is this because of Belkin firmware? Any fixes for this?
Can I update the Belkin using Apple firmware?

Never mind.
Just searched forum and found answer.
Green light indicates active network which I didn't set it up for.
I'll probably reset it and set up network with my belkin wireless router. Right now just listening to tunes!

Best security setup for my Belkin 54g

I just purchased a Belkin 54g router. I understand a little about security settings but givin the options I wonder the best for simple home (apartment) use? I don't want to go overboard with settings but wonder which are the most commonly used. I don't feel that I have a security problem but I do see other wireless routers on my iPhone. I just want to lock mine. Password? WEP or WPA or WPA2? Mac address maybe?

Between WEP and WPA2 Personal, WPA2 personal is much more secure than WEP which the iPhone is compatible with. I use WPA2 Personal with my wireless router and network at home with no problems and living in an apartment complex you should be concerned about this but WPA2 should be plenty adequate.
I had a friend visit with a Windows PC and wireless card which was not compatible with WPA2 encryption so I was forced to downgrade my encryption to WEP in order for my friend's PC to be able to connect to my wireless network but any Mac should not have a problem with this.

Connecting ipod touch to belkin 54g

Hi there,
I've got this belkin 54g router, and it will not connect to my touch.
It connects to my wii, ps3 and other pc's fine.
I'm using a WEP key, with mac filtering disabled etc and it still wont work. I lost my network completely today by fiddling with it so i'm nervous to do too much!! anyone got any suggestions??

Try Resetting Network Settings on the iPod touch, go to Settings> General> Reset> Reset Network Settings.
If the issue persists, check the iPods IP address? Tap Settings> Wi-Fi> Tap the blue(>) next to the checked Wi-Fi network.
If the iPod has a 169.254.x.x IP address there could still be a router configuration issue. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA26003 provides more information about self assigned IP addresses.
If the iPod has a valid private IP address, it could be a DNS issue. Can the iPod browse to the router configuration page by tapping safari and entering the routers IP in the address field? Can the iPod browse to the apple website by entering 17.112.152.57 instead of apple.com?
If its a DNS issue, you can try entering a public DNS server on the iPhone, just tap settings> Wi-Fi> the blue(>) next to the checked Wi-Fi network

My Ipod Touch won't connect to belkin 54g router with wep password 128 bit

Well basically, I try to connect to my router it is belkin 54g, I have a 128 bit password WEP security. When I put the password in correctly, it says that it's " Unable to connect ".
However, when I only put in the first 10 hex of my password it says connected, but when I go on facebook or safari it says " No Internet Connection".
Before you refer me to any solutions these are some of the things that I have tried but didn't work:
Putting a $ sign in front of the password
Restarting my router
Turning off security and then put back on ( When i turned it off it connected but when I turned it back on it wudnt connect)
Changing it to WPA (still doesnt work)
I have noticed that on my router, it keeps blocking me from connecting to it. All of the comptuers can connect to my router as normal however, my ipod touch can't.
It's really annoying because you can't even do half of the things without being able to connect to internet.
Please help me

are other things still connecting to the wifi without a problem?
Have you tried resetting network settings, then unplugging modem and router from power for 40 seconds then plugging back in letting the lights stabilize and Then recconecting with the ipod>?

Ipod touch, Belkin 54g Problems

I recently brought a iPod touch, 3rd generation. all the computers on my network can connect fine, my xbox 360 can connect with no problems to my router "Belkin 54g". I have WPA encryption, (I have also tried WEP). when ever i try to connect to my network, it can see the SSID, but always comes up with:"unable to join the network" It can connect fine with no encryption, but put on an encryption and it does not work. obviously using no encryption is not an option, so I hope that some one here can help me with my problem.

My IPod touch was exactly the same as first. We spent hours trying to connect and our house has the same router type as yours. After a few hours it suddenly appeared connected. If doesnt happen with yours try going to 'Settings' - 'Wi-Fi' and flick the On-Off switch off and then on again and re-search for connections. Try this a few times, if still no connection you might want to take it to an Apple retail store? see if someone there can help you further in how to connect with encryption.

Belkin WiFi PC Card

I picked up a cheap Belkin F5D7010 (revision 8000) wireless-G PC slot card to use with my PowerBook but it's not working. The PB detects it as evidenced by the icon on the menubar, sees it as an Atheros chipset, but there are no lights active on the card itself even though I have the option to power it off in the menu. I've tried a few different drivers and utilites but can't get it to be recognized as an Airport device.
I read that these cards had a few different chipsets installed over the years and some won't connect without some work. I would like to get this computer online and connected to the home network wirelessly. Any suggestions?

Well my search for drivers has been fruitless. In fact, when I tried a particular solution it caused a kernel panic that I couldn't recover from unless I updated to Leopard (unsupported but it works fine). So I may end up going with the OWC card when I pick up some memory for my two older Macs.
I think this particular Atheros chipset just isn't supported, which is odd because the later one in my MB works great.

Belkin wireless network card F5D7011

Hi!
I've order a PCMCIA wireless card from apple store for my G4 titanium.
When I plug it in, the card seems to be reconized by the system (I can see it on the right side of my menu bar) but it does not appears in the network configuartion list (only modem or built-in ethernet are in this menu).
What should I do to have it working?
Do I need to install any specific driver?
Do I need to install any Airport software?
I'm still running with Mac OS 10.3.8. Do I have to update to Tiger???

I said I was running with 10.3.8 but I made a mistake it's 10.2.8 !
I download the 3.1 Airport from the apple site but I can't start it. No network card is found.
I tried to install 10.4.2 (from my sister new G5!) but some message said I can't install this software on my computer (no other explaination). What should I do?
Any other advice???

Belkin firewire express card help

I need installing the belkin usb/firewire express card. Everytime I plug it in, the mbp tries to install it, then it locks up my entire computer.
I'm trying to import video from a camcorder that uses a firewiere 400 cable. I thought I could use this express card to import the video via firewire 400 but it doesn't look like it's working.

Can't help you with a card, but have you tried Firewire 9 to 4 pin cable (or converter)?

You shouldn't need the express card - FW 800 is backwards compatible with FW 400 and should work as long as you have the physical connections correct. I say should because some folks have had problems with FW 400 devices on FW 800, so it's not necessarily a sure thing...

I cannot connect to belkin 54G wirless router with mac book but can ipod T

as it say on the tin i cannot connect a mac book to belkin wireless router but can with my ipod touch, I get a generic error message. Any clues guys.

Airport extreme and belkin 54g problems - tried ringing applecare.......

hi all
im new on here and new to the world of mac, i was swayed by the fact thats mac are "relaiable" and i like the OS. anway my airport connection keeps dropping and being really slow then i cant reconnect to it for ages or without having to hard reset my router and put security on again.
i dont think its a problem with the router as my vista laptop connects to it no problem and never drops.
i rang apple and they were not helpful and at one point kept me on hold for 12 minutes in between conversation (on a 0870 number!!) and eventually i had to hang up what they told me was to download a file that they pointed me to and when i did it said i dont have the right hardware for this instillation and realized he told me to download the airpot base station thing
anyway can anyone help me please im getting really frustrated

If you have the Expresses connected via ethernet to the LAN ports on the Extreme,
you will configure each device to "Create a wireless network" with the exact same name, security and password as your Extreme wireless network. You can probably leave the Channel setting at Automatic for now.
In addition, each Express must be configured as a "bridge"
Since the Express is a single band device, you will need to decide whether you want to expand either the 5 GHz network or the 2.4 GHz network from the Extreme's wireless network. The Express can't do both simultaneously.
Post back if you need more info on your "roaming" network setup.

Mail Crashes when attachments are added

My mail application on my intel core iMac has just started crashing when I try to attatch a document.
Any one any Ideas?

OK. Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.
Also, try using a different method to connect to Internet, if possible, or connecting the computer to Internet as directly as possible, i.e. bypassing any routers that might be present, using an ethernet cable instead of wireless, etc., and see whether that makes a difference.

Hi one n all,
Symptons are as follows,
1) Tecra 8200 with a detected Toshiba Wireless Mini Pci Card
2) a belkin 54g wireless router
3) a belkin 54g wireless bridge
4) a seconded laptop with a belkin 54g pcmi card
on trying to find any wireless networks it dont find any
if i put the belkin pcmi card into lappy all works well
os: winxp sp2
all drivers are as windows found n installed as couldnt find any XP wlan drives n utils on support site
what am i not seeing any ideas

Specs:
Tecra 8200
Belkin 54g Router
Desktop with wireless card
windows xp home service pack 2 on both
I can detect the wireless router with the desktop, but laptop will not detect router
I have tried installing WLAN driver for windows 98 and client manager, this shows that the internal card is working, however client manager shows no network.
I have benn searching all over the web for solutions

SP A60: Upon resume from standby, why devices don't work?

Hi there,
A question about my Toshiba Satellite Pro A60 (P2.8GHz, 40GB, Win XP Pro, as factory-delivered and extended with Belkin 54G PC-card wireless network adapter).
When the laptop wakes up from standby, several devices don't work anymore, e.g. the wireless network-card. I haven't found anything to (un)check for Wakeup-On-Lan, resume, power management or anything similar.
After a full reboot, all works fine again.
What could I do to let all devices work the same after waking up from stand-by?

Indeed not easy to explain. It doesn't make any difference if I use an AC power supply or battery, the same problem happens with both power sources.
I re-checked the whole issue: upon pressing the on-switch on the SP A60 whilst it is blinking yellow (ie. A60 is in standby mode), it reboots perfectly without any errors. All devices work, ie. connectivity wireless card with base station ("excellent"), USB-ports, modem is recognised, touchpad works, DVD/CD-RW reads and soundcard works. (In fact, subject of this email is not correct anymore...)
To be precise, what is NOT working is the data transfer, neither in my internal zone (LAN), nor outside (the Internet).
Summarised: upon resuming from standby, the SP-A60 operates as being purely local without recognising anything outside the machine, despite the wireless network card being properly installed and excellent connectivity with the base station shown.
As said, after full reboot all works fine again. No settings or checks have been found related to this. I'm running the latest BIOS.
Any ideas? A hardware- or software-related issue?

Powerbook G4 + Belkin F5D7010 card

I'm having problems with a Powerbook G4 500 MHz in combination with a Belkin F5D7010 pcmcia card. When I insert the card, the system hangs. I cant' move the mouse, can't press any keys. When I remove the card after the hang, the system works back.
The card isn't detected at any time. Other PC cards do work.
Since the card is based on a Broadcom BCM4306 chipset it should work. An other PCMCIA card from Belkin doesn't work too (it worked on a Powerbook G4 550, but can't use that portable anymore).
Card is not broken, works in my Windows laptop.
System is updated with all updates and aiport updates.
What can I do? I'm not a mac expert but have lots of experience in Windows systems and not afraid of digging deep in the system.

Hi, timkerger, and welcome to Apple Discussions. I've read in several past posts here that Belkin has made different versions of some of its wireless cards that bear the same model number, and that these different revisions may in some cases require different drivers. I recommend avoiding Belkin cards, because Belkin provides no Mac support at all for its products, and doesn't identify them clearly enough so you can tell what you're buying.
You may want to have a look at this page and see whether it provides any clues for you.

Belkin Wireless Card+Powerbook G4

Firstly, I apologise for the question, but despite my best efforts I havent been able to find a quick answer.
I'm currently travelling in italy and have just picked up a Belkin F5D7011 Wireless card so I can get on the net in the hotel I am staying at (yeah, should have sorted this before i left, I know, I'm a fool!).
There are no drivers, and while belkins online help say its not compatible I have seen posts saying that if its based on the broadcom (if thats right) chipset, then it should work. I've plugged it into the machine, and tried the airport helper, but nothing appeared to happen.
I am currently posting from an internet cafe, hence the desperation and foolish question. I will go back to my hotel to try it again, but is there something I should be doing, or more accuratly, is there something I'm doing wrong, ie, a certain procedure?
If anyone has any links to other discussions or help articles, I'd really really love you for it.

Hi, sf. The 7011, which does use the same Broadcom chipset as Apple's Airport hardware, is reported to work fine on Macs running Airport 3.4.1 software. If your Tiger installation includes a newer Airport software version than that, perhaps that's where the problem lies.
Does Apple System Profiler detect the card?
