Best Algorithm and how to start

Hi All,
I am a new user of Oracle Data Mining. I have a database of customers with their records who bought good from our shop.
Now i want to predict the probability of new customers buying goods from our shop. The new customers may/may not be the old customers.
I need to show these information in JSF.
SO can anyone please give any pointers so as to how to start building the application.
Which algorithm is the best with most accuracy.

Whether you are new to data mining in general or just new to Oracle Data Mining, I recommend that your read the materials on the Getting Started w/ ODM pages http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bi/odm/odm_education.html.
The ODM Tutorial http://download.oracle.com/odm/odminer/tutorial/11.1/Oracle-Data-Miner-11g-Tutorial.zip is highly instructional w/ examples. Following along w/ the Tutorial and its demo data never hurts and will help answer many basic and advanced dm questions by using the product.
After that, thinking about getting the right data for any of the ODM algorithms to find the patterns and relationships hidden within is the main challenge. In the new 11gR2 GUI, we automatically ruin 4 classification models (i of each flavor w/ default settings). You can add more and/or adjust algorithm parameters. In 10gR2 and 11gR1 "Classic" ODM'r GUI,after you have thought about how to set up the problem and have gathered/assembled the right data for the problem, just quickly build several different models and compare them. We've done a lot of work to automate and simplify the dm process so that by just using the ODM defaults, any algorithm should provide a reasonably good model. Experts might be able to adjust, tune, change algorithms, etc., but you should get good results regardless.

Hi Srik
I am assuming you have followed the steps required before a load in the library for dac config, csv lookups etc...
Did you check out the example in the documentation?

If you follow those steps and run the execution plan and you can monitor the progress under the current run tab in the dac and the infa workflow monitor.

Hi rajendra,
You can use the following command at Unix/Aix operating system.
login into unix/aix operating system
& run the following command.
sqlplus "connect /as sysdba"
you come in sql prompt
& than run the following query
sql>select status from v$instance;
In windos you can check DB status using MMC.
if you have any query than message me freely.

What format to import AVCHD for best quality and how to export?

My boss has got himself a panasonic HDC camcorder of some sort that is formatting the video in AVCHD.
Basically he was using adobe premiere pro from around 2003 on an pc running xp and loved it. My I.T. director persuaded him to buy an iMac and Final Cut Pro 7. As we stand now he states he hates macs because he can't figure out how to get his home movies off his camcorder and onto a dvd without them looking blurry and fuzzy.
Can anyone advise what format we should be importing the AVCHD files into final cut pro for best video quality and how we should be exporting the final movie for best quality to go onto dvd?
I will also note that he is using toast 10 titanium to burn his movies to dvd.
Also he is not looking to burn to blu-ray as none of his familiy have blu-ray players. He just wants his HD footage off camera and onto a dvd with the best quality picture he can get. Also his movies are approx 2 hours long and he has just ordered some Dual Layer DVDs

I take it you mean Pro Res 422 from the AVCHD plugin options? And not going for any of the other 422's with bits in brackets?

How do i ensure i edit in a pro res sequence?
Export straight to quicktime no quicktime compression or anything?

Best IDE and how-to create HTML for a swing Applet

Can you help me out? I've been using, and teaching with the old Symantec VisualCafe product from long, long, ago. It still works fine & I can even use it to build JFC/Swing Applets etc. But a few things have occurred. For one, a way back, Symantec sold VisualCafe to WEBGAIN - who now has gone out of business and sold it to a company called TOGETHERSOFT - who doesn't support it any longer.
This isn't really a big deal to me, because I can still build and deploy applets that are pre-swing easily enough. (as can my students)
HOWEVER... I'd like to be running with the LATEST Java (I think it's 1.4.01) and I'd LIKE to use whatever is the best development environment I can use - especially one I can recommend to my students. Do you know what that should be?
What's more, I'd still like to take some JFC/Swing created applets (even if compiled with the older VisualCafe IDE) and generate the HTML to allow 1.4 enabled browsers to run them (this is the case for the schools versions of Explorer and Netscape). Now, the HTML I have INSTALLED for the students used the HTML converter - back in 1.2 to produce the HTML at the bottom of this. This code no longer works now with current browsers. Do you know HOW one makes a jfc/swing compiled applet run on the latest browsers?
Any help or direction you can give would be appreciated.

It's been a while since I've used the HTML Converter, but if I had to guess I'd say you need a newer version than what you have. Also, doesn't the converter allow you to choose which JDK you want to use (in which case you could select 1.4)? Again it's been a while so bear with me. Another option would be to put all the Swing classes into a .jar file (typically called swingall.jar) on your server and include that file as an attribute in your applet tag like this:
<APPLET CODE="yourApplet.class" ARCHIVE="swingall.jar">
This way you don't have to use the Java Plug-in, however the initial download time of the .jar file can be significant.
As for an IDE, I've always been happy using a text editor like UltraEdit. However, I've heard good things about Forte, and hey, it's free!
Regarding Christina's post, that solution will only work if the Applet does not use Swing components (and Bobby specifically said it does). By using the <OBJECT> and <EMBED> tags, rather than the <APPLET> tag, you force the browser to use the Java Plug-in (rather than the browser's default JVM).

I want to run my report on web using OC4J on the same local machine instead of the Run paper layout and Run web layout option
Means i want to run the report by passing URL like below

Using Family Share or Home Share with Windows 8? If so, what is my best option and how do I set it up??

I would like to use either Family Share or home share. If I use a pc/laptop with Windows 8, will I be able to use these programs, or do I have to use an Apple device initially? I have an iTunes acct,that I share w/my daughter. However, I would like for us, to each have our own account, and yet share music when we want to.So,am I better off using Family Share or Home Share? We have a lot of music that we have bought together over the years, and I don't want either of us to lose out on those purchases. Yet, I also don't necessarily want all of the music that she buys, and she doesn't want all the music that I buy. If either of these are an option, how do I go about setting it up? I am an undergraduate who is trying to design a control system which can measure chemical solution conductivity as well as PH value; besides, based on those values, we need to control 4 valves to open and close so that acid, base, water,and salt from 4 tanks can flow into the main pipe.
Question: Which NI device should I buy and start with? The devices have to have at least 4 input/output, do you have any suggestion, Thank you very much!!

and now I have a few questions:
1)Every time when I want to create a new SC, do I need to create a new Product too?
2)Is it possible to create one Product with 3 Web Dynpro SCs (i.e. SC_A, SC_B and SC_C), where SC_A is using SC_B and SC_C; and SC_B is using SC_C?
I thought, that its the best way to create the Product in one track.

thank you for quick reply. I´ve read some topics about similar questions and many people also mention, that one should use SCs sparingly, because CBS only builds and CMS only deploys DCs that are updated.
In help.sap.com, I´ve read that SCs are helpful to group DCs with similar functionality together.
In return to my problem, the functionality of SC_A and SC_B is within one Business Object, so I can merge them into one SC. The functionality of SC_C is more common even for future developments.SC_C Is more like a framework of functionalities, in which things like value helps and so on are grouped into DCs.
So do you think, that I should reduce the amount of SCs from three to two?

I am completely new to Logic pro x. Can anyone help me on what to do and how to start making basic beats?

Just a suggestion. You can pick up Apple Pro Training Series Logic Pro 9 & Logic Express 9 (iBooks or Amazon). It will be a good start as the versions are somewhat similar. It may be a while till something more current and specific will be out for learning Logic Pro X from the ground up.
There are few Youtube sources are available as well.

are you using iTunes? if so, just plug in your iPod, click on the iPod in iTunes and right in the middle of the screen is a button to update to the latest firmware.

ASM Vs File System - Who is best, Why and How ..

How the ASM is better than traditional file system ..? What is the reason behind oracle recommends ASM when we can achieve the same performance in traditional file system ...? Can some one throw some lights on this to understand the purpose of ASM in a better ways when comparing traditional file system.

ASM is better for two basic reasons.
Management and administration. It allows the DBA far better control, with features not found, when using a cooked file system. For example - you need to move the database from an old drive to a newly installed drive on the server. With ASM you can do this while the database is up, running and in-use.
Performance. ASM disks are block devices that are accessed using direct I/O. This bypasses a lot of moving parts that you will typically find in a cooked file system. Raw/direct disk I/O is faster than doing I/O via a kernel file system driver (that may or may not write that data to file on disk).
The con is that ASM is another s/w layer that needs to be installed, and which needs server resources to run. On the modern server, that is not a problem. It's not like running on a couple of sub Ghz CPUs with only 4Gb of system RAM. PCs today have more resources and faster resources than servers of a decade ago.
So there is not much reason for not using ASM.
I'm using ASM on all my database servers. From very small (dual core standalone) to large (12 node RAC). ASM has numerous times saved the proverbial day when there was storage issues, and required storage changes. I would need a lot of sound and hard convincing not to use ASM by default for an Oracle database in today's environment.
