Best approach for RFC call from Adapter module

What is the best approach for making a RFC call from a <b>reciever</b> file adapter module?
1. JCo
2. Is it possible to make use of MappingLookupAPI classes to achieve this or those run in the mapping runtime environment only?
3. Any other way?
Has anybody ever tried this? Any pointers????
Regards,
Amol

Hi ,
The JCo lookup is internally the same as the Jco call. the only difference being you are not hardcoding the system related data in the code. So its easier to maintain during transportation.
Also the JCO lookup code is more readable.

  • Best Practice for EJB calls from servlet?

    Hi folks
I could not find general rules for making calls to an stateful EJB from the web container (e.g. from a backingBean). In some books they say it is a bad programming style calling them directly from a common servlet. The book says create first an HTTPSession Object and from there call the stateful EJB.
I'm a bit confused because, I'm missing some best practice guide from where to initiate such calls.
Can somebody please point me in the right direction?
    Kind Regards

    Hi Bruno,
The main issue with the combination of stateful session beans and servlets is the servlet threading model.
It is dangerous to store a stateful session bean reference in servlet instance state, since the servlet instance
can be accessed concurrently, yet a stateful session bean reference is intended to be used by only one
    client.
As you point out, one alternative is to store the reference in the HttpSession. That associates the reference
with a particular client, which matches the stateful session bean programming model.

  • Best practice for database calls from Java components?

I have a java component that encapsulates some complex database logic. In unit tests, I pass in a jdbc connection.
Is there a way to pass in a database connection from PBL for a database defined as an External Resource in an ALBPM project? That way, I can test it using the "abstract" definition in the project and know that when it is deployed to production it will use the concrete definition. And, I won't have to maintain a separate configuration of the JDBC url.
Is there a better way to do this? Or is it possible?
    Thanks,
    Todd

  • Best approach for copying DB from one system to another

I have Oracle 9i Enterprise running on a UNIX box with a large database upon it (well, 3 - 2 test databases).
I want to recreate one of the databases in Personal Oracle on a Windows machine, again 9i.
I have managed to export the database into DMP files which I ZIPped up to keep them small.
I have also managed to install Oracle 9i Personal edition on the Windows machine.
But how do I import the data? I mean, do I have to recreate the database, tablespaces, etc exactly, can this be done by extracting the scemea and making a script? There must be a "recommended" path!
    Many thanks

    I would not use
    Full=Y
in this case, you have different edition of Oracle on different platform.
It will be better to identify your previous schema holder and use
    fromuser=old_schema_user touser=new_schema_user

  • Question on service userid - for RFC call

    Hi
In XI 3.0 SP18 , we are making a RFC call from XI mapping runtime - to XI's ABAP stack - RFC function module . In the RFC receiver communication channel , I tried using service user XIISUSER , XIAPPLUSER for this RFC call - I got short dumps on XI ABAP stack mentioning that these two service users do not have authorization to make RFC calls -
Does anybody out there know what service user on XI has RFC call authorization that can used to make RFC calls onto XI ABAP stack from its mapping runtime ?
Correct answers will be rewarded rightaway. Thanks for your time in advance.

    Hi,
u have to make entry in sld...
    Hi,,
    2 Introduction
Configuring IDoc adapter in Exchange Infrastructure 3.0 requires some configuration on the SAP
systems, for both XI and the backend system where the IDoc message is to be sent. These steps, although
simple, are many times missed or mis-configured, causing the delivery of messages to fail.
Since IDoc adapter uses the ABAP stack, instead of J2EE, the configuration requirements are mainly in
    ABAP.
Setting up IDoc adapters requires the XI integration server to be able to communicate with the backend
SAP system, and also to make sure that the Logical System Name used when posting IDoc exists on the
    backend SAP system.
3 The Step By Step Solution
The basic steps for the IDoc configuration are outline below:
    1. Configure SM59 on XI to communicate to SAP backend system.
    2. Configure port on XI for IDoc communication.
    3. Create or verify the Logical System Name on the SAP backend system.
    4. Create or verify business system in XI’s System Landscape Directory.
    5. Verify the Logical System Name of the business system.
    6. Verify or add the Logical System Name for the sender business system.
    7. Create/configure the Communication Channel for the IDoc receiver adapter
3.1 Configure SM59 on XI to communicate to SAP backend system.
    1. Using transaction SM59, create an RFC destination with Connection Type = “3”.
In this example, the RFC destination name is “NDVCLNT510”.
    2. Enter the logon information:
    3. Test the connection by clicking on “Testing connection” and “Remote logon”.
    Both must be successful.
3.2 Configure port on XI for IDoc communication.
    4. Go to transaction IDX1 on XI, and create a port. In this example, the Port name is “SAPNDV”.
    • &#61472;The Port name must be in the form of “SAPxxx”, where xxx is the system ID of the backend SAP
    system.
    • The Client must be the client number of the backend SAP system.
    • Select the RFC Destination which was created in the previous step.
3.3 Create or verify the Logical System Name on the SAP backend system.
    5. Enter transaction SALE on the SAP backend system.
    6. Create or verify the Logical System Name. In our example, NDVCLNT510 is verified.
3.4 Create or verify business system in XI’s System Landscape Directory.
The business system name for the SAP backend system must contain a valid Logical System Name. This Logical System Name is the one verified or created in the previous step.
    7. In the System Landscape Directory, select the SAP backend business system. If one does not exist, then create the business system. Verify the Logical System Name.
3.5 Verify the Logical System Name of the business system.
    8. In the Integration Directory, doubleclick on the business system (in our example, it is NDVCLNT510).
    Navigate the menu:
    Service • Adapter Specific Identifiers.
If information is empty or incorrect, then it will have to be synchronized with the content of the System Landscape Directory. Follow the steps below for synchronization.
    9. (Optional) Synchronization of the business system in Integration Directory to the business system in System
    Landscape Directory.
    • &#61472;Double-click on the business system in the Integration Directory.
    • &#61472;Switch to Edit mode.
    • &#61472;Select menu: Service • Adapter-Specific Identifiers
    10. (Optional) Within the dialog box, click on the button as indicated below to resynchronize.
    11. (Optional) If the expected data from the System Landscape Directory is not updated, then the SLD cache may need to be cleared first.
3.7 Create/configure the Communication Channel for the IDoc receiver adapter.
    15. In the Integration Directory, create an IDoc receiver communication channel.
    • &#61472;The RFC Destination is from step 3.1.
    • &#61472;The Port is from step 3.2.
    NOTE:
There is no need to create an IDoc sender Communication Channel for XI. Instead, the backend SAP system must be configure to send the IDoc to XI.
    4 Appendix
    Transaction: IDX2
There are a couple of situation where IDX2 can be useful on the XI system.
    1. When we want to test connection between the XI and SAP backend system.
    2. When an IDoc has changed, and the meta data stored in XI needs to be update. When an IDoc is sent from the SAP backend system to XI, XI will first check to see if the meta data for the IDoc is already in its persistent cache. If not, then XI will use the configuration in IDX1 to retrieve the IDoc meta data from the backend system. If the
meta is already in cache, then it will NOT do so. Therefore, when an IDoc has changed, it is necessary to manually update the new meta data on XI, or delete it from the cache, so that the latest version can be retrieved. IDX2 is used for this purpose.
Go to transaction IDX2 and click on “Create”.
Enter the IDoc Type and the Source Port as defined in step #2. Click “Continue”.If successful, the following will show up. If error occurs, then the IDX1 configurations will need to be re-checked.
    Reward points if find useful.

  • Best approach for IDOC - JDBC scenario

    Hi,
In my scenarion I am creating sales order(ORDERS04) in R/3 system and which need to be replicated in a SQL Server system. I am sending the order to XI as an IDoc and want to use JDBC for sending data to SQL Server. I need to insert data in two tables(header & details). Is it possible without BPM?  Or what is the best approach for this?
    Thanks,
    Sri.

Yes, this is possible without the BPM.
Just create the Corresponding Datatype for the insertion.
if the records to be inserted are different, then there wil be 2 different datatypes ( one for header and one for detail).
Do a mutlimapping, where your Source is mapped into the header and details datatype and then send using the JDBC sender adapter.
For the strucutre of your Datatype for insertion , just check this link,
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/7e/5df96381ec72468a00815dd80f8b63/content.htm
To access any Database from XI, you will have to install the corresponding Driver on your XI server.

  • RFC Call from ABAP (R3) to Webdynpro EP

    Hi experts,
I have a requirement to initiate a call from an ABAP program on R3 to a standard Portal (Webdynpro) API. Does anyone have any experience with this?
I understand that normally Portal (Webdynpro) applications will make the RFC call to ABAP via the established JCO connection. However there's very limited literature elaborating how the call can be made in the other direction i.e. from ABAP R3 to Portal
Anyone, please kindly advise how, if this can be done. Many thanks!
    Best regards,
    Lionel

    Hi,
I'm trying to make a RFC call from the ABAP program to a built in Java method residing on EP. It is part of a suite of methods provided by the UME engine.
Typically a call is made from a webdynpro program to a SAP ABAP function module. In this case, I'd like to make a call from the SAP ABAP report to the EP method.

  • RFC call from a Windows Service

    Hi All,
I have created a simple windows service which is making an RFC call to R/3 system. This is not working. Whereas the same piece of code written in a windows application projects(exe) works properly. Does anyone had similer issues working with Windows services ? Is it a known issue of RFC calls from windows service ???
    Thanks & Regards
    Ganesh Datta

    Hi Juergen,
After I put the debug statements I figured out that connection to R/3 system is unsuccessful.
I am using the SAP .Net Connector 2.0. I wrote a windows service which is manually started. Withing my service I am using Single sign on to connect .This is what was causing the problem. If I disable Single sign on and supply userID and password then connection is successful and also subsequent RFC calls.
I guess within windows service Single sign on does not work.
    Thanks for your reply

    Hi Experts,
I have a scenario where in I have to send SMS as a part of an escalation workflow process.I wanted to ask to the forum as to what is the best approach to send sms from workflow. The information regarding the users and the numbers is to come from a table. So how do I integrating the workflow with the SMS.
I am stuck with this problem and need urgent help with this..Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

    Hi Narsingh Panigrahi,
Have you checked this function module as i suggested previously.
    Function Module--TELEPHONE_FROM_TO
Since configuration is not done in our system i cant test this function module
In this function module they have used this table TSP01
    The fields are
    RQTELELAN--country
    RQTELENUMTelecommunications partnerfrom
    RQTELENUMETelecommunications partnerto
    Function Module--TELEPHONE_FROM_TO
In this function module they have used this table TSP01
    The fields are
    RQTELELAN--country
    RQTELENUMTelecommunications partnerfrom
    RQTELENUMETelecommunications partnerto
When you are entering the telephone number you have give prefix country code ( for US it is 011) and at the end of the number you have to give the to country code that is ( for IN it is 91).
Try this and let me know.

  • Best approach for IDs mapping..

    Hello,
I'd like to ask you for your experiences about classical integration problem: mapping of IDs (materials, partners...)
What is the best approach for integration between SAP and other systems? Can you give me some hints?
    Thanx, Peter

    Hi Peter,
you have 4 ways to do it:
    1. you can do it inside an integration process:
RFC call for checking a table with ID -> ID mappings
(not so good as you have to use integration process)
but very easy to biuld as this is standard
    2. table in R/3 and changing the values in a user exit
(you maintaint the data in a table in R/3)
the fastest way (no calls to other programs)
but you have to create user exits and
this is not why you (your client) bought the XI
    3. you can use this new RFC API
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/uuid/801376c6-0501-0010-af8c-cb69aa29941c
which seems to be the best approach
as you don't need BPM for this and it's a standard
    4. value mapping tables in XI...

What's the best approach for handling about 1300 connections in Oracle 9i/10g through a Java application?
1.Using separate schema s for various type users(We can store only relevant data with a particular schema.     Then No. of records per table can be reduced by replicating tables but we have to maintain all data with a another schema     Then we need update two schema s for a given session.Because we maintain separate scheama for a one user and another schema for all data and then there may be Updating problems)
    OR
    2. Using single schema for all users.

  • Best practice for linking fields from multiple entity objects

I am currently transitioning from PHP to ADF. I'm looking for the best practice for linking data from multiple entity objects.
    Example:
EO 'REQUESTS' has fields: req_id, name, dt, his_stat_id, her_stat_id
EO 'STATUSES' has fields: stat_id, short_txt_descr
'REQUESTS' is linked to EO 'STATUSES' on: STATUSES.stat_id = REQUESTS.his_status_id
'REQUESTS' is also linked to EO 'STATUSES' on: STATUSES.stat_id = REQUESTS.her_status_id
    REQUESTS.his_status_id is independent of REQUESTS.her_status_id
    When I create a VO for REQUESTS, I want to display: REQUESTS.name, REQUESTS.dt, STATUSES.short_txt_descr (for his_stat_id), STATUS.short_txt_descr (for her_stat_id)
What is the best practice for accomplishing this? It appears I could do it a few different ways:
    1. Create the REQUESTS VO with a LOV for his_stat_id and her_stat_id
    2. Create the REQUESTS VO with the join to STATUSES performed within the query for the VO. This would require joining on the STATUSES EO twice (his_stat_id, her_stat_id)
    3. I just started reading about View Links - would that somehow do what I'm looking for?
I also need to be able to update his_status_id and her_status_id through the by selecting a STATUSES.short_txt_descr from a dropdown.
Any suggestions on how to approach such a stupidly simple task?
Using jDeveloper 11.1.2.2.0 if that makes a difference in the solution.
    Thanks ahead of time,
    CJ

    CJ,
I vote for solution 1 as it's just your use case. As you said you what to update the his_status_id and her_status_id through the by selecting a STATUSES.short_txt_descr by a drop down. This is exactly the LOV solution.
ViewLinks are used fro master detail navigation (which you don't do here) and Joining the data make it difficult to update (and you still need a LOV for the drop down box.

  • What are the best approaches for mapping re-start in OWB?

What are the best approaches for mapping re-start in OWB?
We are using OWB repository 10.2.0.1.0 and OWB client 10.2.0.1.31. The Oracle version is 10 G (10.2.0.3.0). OWB is installed on Linux.
We have number of mappings. We built process flows for mappings as well.
I like to know, what are the best approches to incorportate re-start options in our process. ie a failure of mapping in process flow.
How do we re-cycle failed rows?
Are there any builtin features/best approaches in OWB to implement the above?
Does runtime audit tables help us to build re-start process?
If not, do we need to maintain our own tables (custom) to maintain such data?
How did our forum members handled above situations?
    Any idea ?
    Thanks in advance.
    RI

    Hi RI,
How many mappings (range) do you have in a process flows?Several hundreds (100-300 mappings).
If we have three mappings (eg m1, m2, m3) in process flow. What will happen if m2 fails?Suppose mappings connected sequentially (m1 -> m2 -> m3). When m2 fails then processflow is suspended (transition to m3 will not be performed). You should obviate cause of error (modify mapping and redeploy, correct data, etc) and then repeat m2 mapping execution from Workflow monitor - open diagram with processflow, select mapping m2 and click button Expedite, choose option Repeat.
In re-start, will it run m1 again and m2 son on, or will it re-start at row1 of m2?You can specify restart point. "at row1 of m2" - I don't understand what you mean (all mappings run in Set based mode, so in case of error all table updates will rollback,
but there are several exception - for example multiple target tables in mapping without corelated commit, or error in post-mapping - you must carefully analyze results of error).
What will happen if m3 fails?Process is suspended and you can restart execution from m3.
By having without failover and with max.number of errors=0, you achieve re-cycle failed rows to zero (0).This settings guarantee existence only two return result of mapping - SUCCSES or ERROR.
What is the impact, if we have large volume of data?In my opinion for large volume Set based mode is the prefered processing mode of data processing.
With this mode you have full range enterprise features of Oracle database - parallel query, parallel DML, nologging, etc.
