Best way to change the actual physical dimensions of an avi file?

So I'm trying to figure something out, and it seems like it SHOULD be a simple thing... but I haven't been able to find the answer. I'm importing an avi file (from Poser 9) into AE 5.5. The dimensions are 1200x900. There need to be 48 copies of the avi movie running at the same time behind a mask made of circles on a grid. (If you've ever seen the Coca-Cola commercials from the 90's where all the disks had animations on them, "La la la lala, always Coca-Cola..." it might help to think of that design.) The problem is that each copy of the avi needs to be 150x150 in order for it to work.
Looking for an answer to the question of resizing an avi only seems to be turning up advice about how to reduce the FILE size, not the literal physical dimensions of the movie clip. So I would really appreciate some help. And everyone here is so smart! I just KNOW that somebody knows the answer.

You can either drop your original video (and by the way that's a really odd size) into a 150 X 150 comp and then scale the movie to fit (there's going to be some cropping) or render a copy out to a production copy from this 150 X 150 composition.
You could also just set up a square mask for the original video and scale it down until it fit your design.
These are very basic concepts. Scaling, setting comp sizes, working with layers. Have you gone through the getting started materials?

Best way to change the speed of a sequence of linked short clips?

I have a sequenced project of about 150 short 1 second clips linked together via a crossfade transition... I would like to make the timelapse faster. What is the best way to change the speed of the sequence or the clips themselves? I would rather change the sequence for it would be less labor intensive I would imagine!!

Or...select all the clips in the timeline, control-click (or right-click) on them and select 'Duration'. Change the duration to whatever will fit/fill the timespan you need, then hit OK.
If you're needing to change the dissolve as well, you should remove all but one of them first, then drag the remaining transition into the browser. Dbl-click it into the viewer, set the duration of what you want, then use the hand icon at top right and drag it back into the browser. Rename it relevent to it's new duration, then control-click on it and select "Make Default".
Now, set an inpoint at the first frame of your clips in the timeline, then drag all the shortened clips from the timeline into the canvas and release where it says 'Overwrite with Transition'.
That's another way to accomplish this.

Is there a way to change the actual song file but keep the 'info'?

I have a compilation that took me a really long time to edit (by which I mean put the date for each individual song in because they were all released different years becaues it's a Bob Dylan compilation and I have smart playlists for each decade from the 50's upwards) and I want to change the actual file in itunes but keep the data, is there any way? It'd take ages to do again because it's a 3-cd album. I'm trying to change the file because the one I have is approx 200kbps bit rate and i want to have a different, 320kbps version that i've downloaded. I've tried opening the file in explorer and deleting it so that i can 'locate' the file again to the one i want to replace it with, but it changes the song title, album artist, and tags etc to the new file, whereas i thought it would just retain the information but change the actual file it played.
i've had a really hard time explaining this i'm sorry if it's unclear. i was just wondering if there was any way to avoid the painstaking process of googling each song to find its release date and manually entering it when i already have a perfectly organised album.
i can't find anything anywhere about this, presumably because i've no idea what the key words for the search would be, so i'm sorry if this is common knowledge.

VBR vs. CBR isn't a concern as far as the strategy is concerned. As given it is slightly easier if the replacement files have exactly the same files names and folders as the files they are replacing (case doesn't matter) but if that isn't possible we can work around that too.
Not my area but I think CBR gives larger files and less processing overhead for the same quality, which is a somewhat nebulous term. I'm not sure there is any real benefit.
Yes a script is just another kind of a program.
iTunes gives each track in the database a unique ID and knows the path that the file is supposed to live on. If you replace the original file with a different file of higher bitrate that has the same filename then iTunes will use that new file next time it wants to play the track. When it does so it will also read the tag and update itself if any of the information is different.
The original function of the ExportImport script was to help someone else rescue play counts from an old library database. If works by scanning through selected tracks and writing out a text file that contains an ID for each track and the data that wants to be copied back later.

Each block consists of the iTunes track ID, a comment so we humans can see which track this is, followed by one or more properties. I can write you a custom version of this script but I need to know exactly which properties you need to save and then restore. For example Name, Year, Genre, etc. You need to compare a new and old version of one of your songs and work out which fields need resetting in the new song to make it match the old one.
Having saved a file with the information that would otherwise change, you can then delete the older copies of the file, or better yet move them to a backup location, then copy in the new versions. If the filenames match iTunes will "see" the new files automatically, otherwise my FindTracks script can normally fix the broken links. Once iTunes is connected to all of the new files you drag and drop the saved text file onto the ExportImport script to run the import phase. This applies the saved data to each track in turn.

I know if I try replace color, the white bowls change color as well. In the past I have isolated parts of images using paths, but I wanted to know if that was the most efficient way. What is the best way to change the flooring in an image keeping perspective?

For example, I have an image of a lounge room and want to show a client different flooring options including tiles, floorboards. Key is keeping the perspective and being able to easily select and replace the floor. Thank you!

A good cheat if you are not sure, is to find and download an image with the appropriate oerspective, and use that as a guide. I usually do it by eye, start the Free Transform process, and hold down the Ctrl (Cmd) key while dragging corners, and release thwe Ctrl key if I want to resize. This lets you do it all in one operation with minimum loss of quality, but it certainly helps to make the layer a Smart Object.
Actually, thinking about it, definitely make it a SO. With a normal layer if you need to tweak the transform, the corner handles remain square to the image, and difficult to drag into place. With an SO the corners will still be at the corners of the object regardless of its shape and orintation.
But Chuck's idea of using Vanising Point is best if you have the information there in the image to shape the perspective to.

Best way to change the quality of multiple slides

I have a project with multiple slides.
Not sure how but some have a quality set to "Low (8-bit)" and others to "High (24-bit)"
I want all slides to have the same (high) quality and wonder what is the most efficient way to change them all to the same ?
Also - what is the difference (in quality) between "Optimised" and "High (24-bit)" ?

Not so sure, but normally Optimized will adapt as needed more than just putting it to High.
You can select all the slides in the Filmstrip, and then change the quality in the Properties panel, where common properties for all slides will remain accessible.
Or you can just override the slide quality on publishing by unchecking 'Retain Slide Quality' in the Preferences, Project, SWF Size and Quality.

How is the best way to change the label of an icon placed on the homescreen

When I place an icon on the home screen I would like to edit it to the label I would like it to be.

I do not see any built-in way to do this.
You can name a bookmark anything you like, but when you long-press a site on the home screen and choose Edit, bookmarks are not always suggested as matches. The only way I can guarantee that a bookmarked site is listed is to add some unique characters to the bookmark name that won't come up in history for that site. Of course, this takes away from having full control...

Is there a way to change the true resolution rather than scaling?

I have searched through just about every single forum, website and search engine there is and haven't found anything. Perhaps I am phrasing my question wrong. I currently own a Macbook Pro 13.3'' Retina (Of Mid-2014 since I just bought it?) and I can't figure out how to change the resolution. The OS seems to default to 2560x1600 no matter what I set it to because I think all its changing is the scaling. Is there a way to do this? I used to own a Macbook Air 13.3'' which ran 1440x900 and I know that it was pixelated. On the same size display here...when I run the claimed "1440x900" its still ultra sharp which means its using scaling I assume. Any ideas how do I change the actual resolution, not just the scaling. The OSX settings currently seem to be just the equivalent of modifying the DPI like you can in Windows. I want to find out if there is a way to change the actual output resolution.

The MacBook Pro like all laptops has an LCD screen. Like all LCD screens the screen has a single physical resolution, in the case of your MacBook Pro Retina 13.3" it is 2560x1600 pixels. This is the number is dots the screen is physically made of.
In the old days when desktop computers used CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) displays which looked like TVs these sort of displays could display multiple resolutions in fact CRTs have no single fixed physical resolution. However LCDs which use totally different technology do only have a single 'real' resolution.
If your really interested in how a CRT can do different resolutions then the answer is that a CRT uses an electron beam to excite the phosphor display on the front of the display (to make it glow), it scans from left to right, moves down a line and then does the next line, and so on till it reaches the bottom and then goes back to the top. The speed (rate) at which it does this is known as the horizontal frequency and the vertical (refresh) frequency or rate. If the horizontal line is drawn specific time and that is divided in to 640 units, then it can be told to turn off and on 640 times per line, if the same line is drawn in the same time but the interval is divided in to 1024 then it can 'draw' 1024 horizontal pixels instead of 640 horizontal pixels. In actuality the display has no physical pixel you are merely lighting up small or larger areas on the screen and hence a CRT has no single fixed resolution.
In order for a computer using an LCD display to use a different apparent resolution it has to 'scale' the image to a different size, as a very simple example if we wanted to scale down to 1280x800 pixels which is exactly half 2560x1600 then the computer would use 2x2 (four) physical pixels to represent a single scaled pixel. Often however the chosen scaled resolution may not be an exact multiple like that example. Apple on the Retina display have provided some suggested scaled resolutions which work reasonably well these being 1680 by 1050, 1440 by 900, and 1024 by 640 pixels.
None of these will look as good as 2560x1600 because the screen physically is made up of 2560x1600 dots and no amount of cheating will change that.

The error message that I was receiving...Field COBL-KOSTL. does not exist in the screen SAPLKACB 0002, was coming from function module EXIT_RFEBBU10_001 and include ZXF01U01. The programming code was attempting to default a cost center when the external transaction code = 661. The coding was removed and the default acct assignment cost center was added to the cost element master data. The substitution also worked correctly as it should.

Best Way to Change Source System Client

We initially had a ECC source client for BI as 35. But over time, we suffered with good test data because the ECC team use client 15 and not 35. We want to change BI 7 to use client 15. I have created a new source system in RSA1 for Client 15 but when I try to delete client 35 and /or change the source client on a datasource, all the data mappings are deleted!
I would really appreciate any advice or information on the best way to change the source R3 client for Bi without losing data mappings. Point awarded and much respect

Best way to change config then change it back after a while.

I spent some time today trying a couple approaches to this, but they all seemed a little klunky.
I'm looking for the best way to change the BGP prefixes which are advertised out to an ISP, based on some check. I want to set a timeout so the router won't attempt to send the route again for say 30 minutes after it is triggered, but then will start advertising it again, and monitor to see if the trigger condition returns. If the trigger condition returns then again withdrawl the route for 30 minutes and so on.
I'm using a prefix-list already to limit outbound route advertisments, so it seems simplest to just make a config change to remove one line in the prefix-list, then a few minutes later put it back.
I tried just using the "cli command wait", but if I set the wait period too long, the applet seemed to die, and never ran the later cli commands to put the prefix-list line back. There is also a exit-time clause for the event, but I couldn't figure out how to put the line back after the exit-time expired. Lastly I tried doing an event with a watchdog timer, but also couldn't get that to work either. Before I spend too much time working on differant options, I wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations.
I've done some TCL scripting on Cisco routers, but that seemed to be overkill for this, and I wanted to keep the config easy to manage for peers who might not be as proficient in TCL scripting.
This is intended for ASR-1002X routers if it matters.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Ok, so here is my current script, which seems to be working pretty well (changing to entry-type "value" fixed the variability in detection times). For testing in the script below, I'm using a 30 second timeout for when the line gets put back, and a 60 second timeout for when monitoring should resume after the event is triggered. The script checks the value of the OID every 5 seconds.
The only other thing I would like to do with it that I can't figure out, is how to use an environment variable for the exit-time. Ideally, I would just add a value, like 10 seconds, to the ATimeout variable. However I can't figure out the syntax to just use a var for the exit-time. Anyone know the secret (or if it is possible?)

Best way to change workstation

What is the best way to change the workstation name and import it into
edirectory.
We constantly have user change computer name. Most of the time when we
change the computer name it takes day to reflect on the edirectory. When
rename the workstation object, we cannot even remote to the workstation.
I have problem remote to through user name, I keep getting user does login
when in fact the user is login. We have netware 6.5 with the latest
service pack.

yes and no . You need as well weblogic + soa files as the database schemas (soa_infra, mds...).
