Best way to hook up Zen Sleek to Car Ster

Dear fellow Zen owners,
I have a Zen sleek and love it. I want to integrate this into my car as much as possible. I have a Alpine CDA9827 Reciever with an aux in. I just ordered a PIE LD- Amp that amplifies the aux input to make the zen sound better.
What I am mostly looking for is a vent mount that will fit this player. Another thing I am looking for is a DC power adapter for the sleek in my car so the backlight will always be on showing what is playing.
I found this dc adapter on the creative site.
http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=3&subcategory=&product=2204
I dont understand how that will plug into the sleek unless the picture is wrong.
Please give me feedback on a good mount for this and a dc adapter.
Thanks,
Mike

well, that adapter plugs into the headphone jack, I assume. They need to start releasing some FM transmitters that hook up to the Sleek's dock connector, which would charge it and have music playback. Like the iPods have.
Or, can that connector at the bottom even be used for audio output, or is it just for USB transfer/charging? Can anyone confirm this?
Edit: *most* iPod mounts should fit the sleek, may it be a bit looser or tighter. Both players' dimensions are near the same. I haven't seen or heard of any specifically made for the Sleek. Creative needs to get on the ball as far as accessories go..Message Edited by shotgunxmessage on 09-5-2005 06:6 AM

What is the best way to hook up a telephone line to an i- mac so I can receive faxes directly to my computer?
I tried usb modems.  They worked ok for 32 bit usb's but Lion only allows 64 bit.  I bought one from Best Buy and it works when it wants to.  Mostly, it doesn't want to!
Is there a way to connect through a time capsule?

    Thanks for that!!

I didn't look any further than this.  I bought this at Best Buy and like I said, it works somesimes.  It does not trigger the fax automatically when the phone rings.  You need to have it manually answer.  In the past, I had the 32 bit Apple version of this external USB modem and it worked without issue.

  • Best way to hook a Mini display port to a vga projector AND a vga monitor

I am looking for the best way to hook a Mini display port to a vga projector AND a vga monitor for use in a classroom, right now I am thinking a Mini displayport adapter to a splitter.

The Thunderbolt port is the one to use; you use the same mini-DisplayPort adapter you used for the older minis.

I just got the Sony BRAVIA 60" Class / 1080p / 120Hz / LED-LCD HDTV and I have a Yamaha RX-V1800.  I want to buy and hook up a Blu-ray player to both.  What the best way to do this?  Should I use the optical audio to connect the Blu-ray to the receive and the HDMI to connect to the TV?  I really want to be able to use HDMI for the audio but then I'm left with only component video for the TV.  I can't filter the sound through the TV, this does not work.  Does optical produce good audio?

Okay so I did try to run everything through the Yamaha receiver and the refresh rate is just to slow.  I put in the DVD Salt and as soon as there was a chase scene I got lot of blurring.  Since I'm not going to get a new receiver any time soon is a HDMI to the TV and an optical to the receiver the best option?
You have no idea what you are doing which is why your results are not pleasing. Simply connect the equipment with HDMI cables as instructed and use only Blu-Ray discs as they are full-resolution sources. Your Blu-Ray player applies upscaling and processing to your DVD which is why it looks like crap and your receiver would do the same depending on the settings. You also need to check the settings on your player and HDTV to get them both aligned for the best picture quality.
Well I did use HDMI cables, and I also checked all of the setting on both the receiver and the TV.  I did not use a Blu-Ray or player as I have not bought one yet.  So are you saying the only way to not get a blur when using this set up would be to only watch Blu-Rays??  That does not make much sense.  Also I would like to say I have some idea what I'm doing but obviously not as much as many people on this site, that's why I posted my question here.  Thanks though for pointing out the obvious, It was very helpful of you.

  • What's the best way to hook up the a macbook pro to an HDTV?

I want to use my LCD HDTV to color correct and adjust levels. What's the best way to do this? I've never done it before so I'm not sure.

You need a way to get the signal out of your Laptop... a Matrox MXO is the least expensive way to do this... you connect it to your DVI port on the MBP, and then from it to the LCD. The LCD will have to either have SDI in, or component analog in for this to work, but it's the least expensive way to do it properly. You can even setup the LCD to broadcast spec with the blue only display of color bars from the Matrox's control panel. Pretty slick actually.

HelloHave a look at this thread http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ead.php?t=6328?I had a similar problem with a Zen Sleek Photo and I am sure that this was the thread I used to recover the player when a firmware upgrade failed. Regards?

  • Zen Sleek Photo Car Adap

Can someone please direct me to a link where I can find a car adapter for a ZEN Sleek Photo I remember seeing it on the site a while back, but I can't remember where it was and I looked all over the Accessories parts of the site, no luck. It would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

You can give firmware update a try but I'm afraid what coachop said is true. I don't have personal experience with screen replacements but sounds like this is the path where you're heading.

  • Best way to hook up Airport Express with a current Airport Extreme network

I currently have an Airport Extreme (7.2 firmware, N version, but right now running mixed mode because all my clients are G, and using WPA/WPA2), and I am thinking about getting an Express to use it to share a printer and the Airtunes feature.
My Extreme is on the top floor of a 3 floor house, and has good coverage over all the house. So I don't necessarily need the Express to extend the range on the bottom, but if it helps get a stronger signal, then why not. My stereo and printer will be on the bottom floor as well.
There seems to be several ways to add the Express to the existing network, but I don't which one is the most appropriate or what will work the best.
    1) Do I use a WDS network?
    2) Do I extend the network?
    3) Or setup up the Express as just a wireless client for Airtunes/printer sharing?
    4) Can I put a USB hub on the Express and share a printer and a hard disk? (I would do this on my extreme base station, but its in a location that I can't attach it to a printer or hard disk)
    Thanks for any help.

would this approach work if the extreme were in "n" mode and all you wanted to do was set up the express for air tunes? would "b" or "g" machines be able to "see" the air tunes "station?
Since the AX is an 802.11g device you would need to run the AEBS in an 802.11g compatible mode for the AX to wirelessly connect. Therefore your 802.11b/g clients could join the AEBS's wireless network. The AX service would be available to any device connected to the network.
if one had a dual band network (an extreme in "n" and an older snow base station for "b" and "g" connectivity), how would this affect the use of an express for air tunes?
In a dual-band network one of the base stations is acting as a bridge. Therefore every device connected is on the same subnet and able to use the services of the AX. This is regardless to which base station they are connected or if they are connected wirelessly or via Ethernet.

  • PLEASE ADVISE BEST WAY TO HOOK UP AUDIO AND VIDEO TO OLDER TV WITH DVI INPUT

GOT NEW APPLE TV NEED TO CONVERT HDMI OUTPUT TO HOOK UP TO MY HDTV READY PROJECTION TV WITH DVI INPUT CONNECTOR
WOULD BE NICE IF YOU COULD JUST  EMAIL APPLE AND OTHER SIMILAR  COMPANIES LIKE MICROSOFT  ETC. SIMPLE QUESTIONS LIKE THIS WITH OUT FILLING OUT FORMS ETC

Officially DVI is not supported, but may work provided connections are HDCP compliant.
You will need an HDMI to DVI converter and as DVI does not support audio, a method of playing audio such as using AppleTV optical out instead to something capable of decoding the optical audio.
This is a user to user forum not an Apple led official support forum by the way.

  • Best Way to Hook-up Two Monitors - an LCD and CRT.

I have two monitors, a Samsung SyncMaster 940BX LCD with DVI and VGA ports, the other a Viewsonic CRT with VGA port that I use as a palette monitor.
Which is the best (most reliable) port on the Mac Mini to use for a VGA monitor, the Mini-DVI Port or the Mini DisplayPort? I have a Mini-DVI Port to VGA adapter from my PowerBook that I can use if needed, and will order whatever Mini DisplayPort adapter that I may need. Thanks.

I would think that starting from DVI would be the better choice for running a VGA display. I say this because analog VGA output is part of the DVI standard, so it is accounted for, should be mature technology and should work.
DisplayPort, on the other hand, does not account for any VGA output. It is a strictly digital standard. Apple has created an adapter that has active electronics inside that uses digital signals for input and does a digital to VGA translation within the confines of the adapter. Strange but true.
From reading these forums over the years, one thing I have learned is there is no such thing as a sure thing. Some people report better results from the DVI port when running VGA and others say they could only get their VGA display to work from DisplayPort. So it seems it can depend on the display, too. In that case, you are probably stuck using trial and error to see what will work best for your setup because it's unlikely anyone else is going to have exactly the same two monitors you do.

  • What is the best way to hook up an external monitor? Im having some issues!

Up until now I have been able to use my external monitor while editing. I recently got a 20" HDTV with HDMI and a jack to use it as a computer monitor. I notice that once I set my VIEW option to ALL FRAMES in FCP, it will only show me a frame at a time until I stop the playhead then the shot will pop up wherever I stopped the playhead.
    The set up:
I have a Caldigit 4TB Raid that i use for editing. I have a FW800 going from that to my G5 Powermac. I also have a FW400 coming out of the Caldigit to my Sony GVD-1000 MiniDV deck (only using this as a "pass through"). I have S-Video/RCA audio coming out of the Sony to the jacks on the 20" HDTV.
Now I was getting a picture but it was showing me a frame at a time. Now it won't show me anything at all not even on the Sony GVD1000 deck. ALL FRAMES is still set in FCP. I am not sure why I cannot see my work in real time on the other monitor or see it period for that matter.
Device Control is set to FW basic which turns my screen black. However when I select another option other than FW Basic, it turns my screen blue so that right there tells me that the computer is talking to the monitor.
As for Graphics card, I am using the ATI Radeon 9600. Last night I hooked up a custom made DVI to HDMI cable and nothing happened aside from desktop icons completely left the screen. Maybe I need to set it up to Mirror the other screen before I hook that cable up or something. Still doesn't explain my issue with FCP.
I do NOT have a AJA or Matrox breakout box and Im thinking I probably will need that. Perhaps my problem could be everything is digital till the signal gets to the Sony deck, i am coming out that deck with analog signals to the monitor.
    Any suggestions?
Before I bought the HDTV, I had a regular SD monitor and never had any issues with seeing my work on it while I edited.
I am working with footage shot in 720p and I am using the correct HD codec to edit with so I am not sure why I cannot view my work on my external monitor.
    Thanks!

Your setup works fine for DV, because you used a DV deck and most likely DV footage. But now you are working with 720p HD footage (what format, BTW? HDV, dvcpro HD?). That same setup won't work for monitoring HD. Now you need an HD box or card to send out a proper HD signal. And since you have an older G5, you won't find any current solutions. You'll have to look at used capture cards that are PCIx. Or you and look at the Matrox MXO, that connects to the computer via a monitor connection. DVI.
