What is the best way to share a video with someone in another city?
I know that FCPX contains all sorts of share options which create different resolutions and file sizes appropriate for different sites like YouTube, Facebook, and others. But how to create the videos really isn't the problem.
I want to know how to share them. I'm creating videos that are ultimately to be viewed on the internet. When I have a completed video, I want to show it to the person who it is for before I finalize it. I know that if it very small, I could email it. And if it's larger, I could use something like Dropbox. But I don't necessarily want them to have a copy of it (though I could do that and put a watermark on it).
I'd like to upload it to a site like YouTube or Vimeo, but those sites seem to be about sharing videos with a wide audience. I know you can make a video private on YouTube, but, from what I've read, they permanently have the right to use the content, which I definitely don't want.
So what's the best way to do this? I'm going to have to do it regularly, so I'm willing to pay for a service if it assures privacy and does not try to assert some right to my content.
I know there is an issue to be considered with people screen capturing content, but I'll use a watermark to lessen the chances of that.

I'll have to read through Vimeo's terms of service, but I have to think they're asserting some right to the content like YouTube does.
Plus, these are commercial videos, and I don't think they allow that. Of course, if they're private, I'm obviously not trying to sell anything. But I have to think that it somehow is against their TOS since me posting a bunch of private videos that nobody can see really doesn't do them any good at all.

Right now, I've given the second user rights to read/write to the first users "Music" folder. But when one user adds song files, the other must "Add Folder" in order to see the new purchases. Have the iTunes Library located in the Shared Folder for instance and then launch iTunes in both users while holding option (or alt) on your keyboard. Choose the iTunes library file wherever it may be located. You can keep it in the same spot if you want (i.e. your Music folder). Many people have their's on a local network hard drive and do this.
The benefit is that when one user updates the iTunes library file, the next user will open an updated version that has all songs that the other user added.
Since you have one computer shared, this should be fine. I am unsure what happens when multiple computers/users access the library file at the same time.

My partner in NY is trying to send me over 10 GB of video to edit. We are currently doing it over AIM/ichat.

This is easily done over AFP. He should:
1) Put the files in /Users/hisaccount/Public
2) Enable File Sharing (System Preferences -> Sharing)
3) Note his IP address (System Preferences -> Network) and e-mail the IP address to you
Once he has done that, you should:
1) Under Finder's Go menu, select Connect to Server
2) Enter afp://11.22.33.44 (or whatever his IP address is)
3) Browse his public folder for the files
4) Drag them to your Desktop or desired location to make your own copy of them.
10GB is a lot of data to send over the internet. Depending on the upload speed of his internet connection it might just be faster to burn a few DVDs and send them to you by express mail.

What is the best way to share HD movies?

I am thinking of moving from digital8 recording to HD (leaning toward HDD or SD instead of miniDV as the later seems to be getting obsolete). Now I can burn a DVD to give to low-tech family members. It does not sound like I will be able to burn HD DVD's, so what will be the best way to share home videos with family members?
Also for archiving purposes, is it easy to hook up a "backup hard-drive" to store family movies for posterity?

Personally, I use MobileMe and let my family watch the movies on line. It is easy to share this way. I share the movie in Large (960x540) or Medium to iTunes. Then I share to Mobile Me.
For personal viewing, I use the Apple TV.
You can also burn a data DVD of your finished movie, and let them copy the file to iTunes from their data DVD.
You can upload the movie to other video sharing services such as YouTube or Vimeo.
You can burn a blu-ray disk if you have Toast and a BluRay burner. You can burn a short movie to regular DVD media using Toast and a regular DVD burner that is playable on most BluRay Players.

Size is not the issue. In the old iPhoto you used to be able to share a video and it would compress it to fit an email friendly size. It doesn't do that anymore from iPhoto. I miss that feature. I have to export the video from iPhoto to my desktop then take into the old Quicktime 7 to share in email. Crazy.
It shouldn't be that complicated. I shouldn't have to find a work around. I guess apple wants to put you in a box so you have to do it "their way" via uploading to iWeb or iCloud instead of emailing video.
I don't like those options being taken away. While the quality may suffer by compressing for email, it is still the most direct and unconvoluted way of sharing something fairly quickly. I don't want to have to post to YouTube or Vimeo or iCloud and send a link. Just compress the video and hit send in an email and be done with it.

What's the best way to share analytics with a third party (our client in this case)? Setup a new DPS user and restrict access to just analytics (is that even possible)? Is there some other software out there to accomplish this? Perhaps something that scrapes itunesconnect? Basically, our client wants sales numbers. Use the export button in the slideshow to create a video file of your slideshow. Copy it to an USB stick, and transfe it this way to the computers of your friends.

Get a "You Send It" account. Upload it an send them your family the link. They can download it and play it on their computer.
Or, put it up on YouTube as a private video and send them the link.

We can email photos and share them on the iphone without losing the original resolution, but how can we do the same with videos without losing resolution.
IT seems when we send them via the MMS, we lose quality. Dropbox also reduces quality when you upload. Same with snapfish etc.
How can we share a video with another.
I know we can post to facebook/youtube, but I would like to simply just share the original quality movie etc so folks can download as well as view.

Best way to share a brush/symbol library

I've created a brush and symbol library for a team of people to use. I'm wondering what the best way to share this library is.
I'm not sure if the Document Profile is good, because then I would have to update the document profile and then copy it to each person's machine in order for them to always have the latest library, which doesn't seem like it will be easy to keep everyone updated with the latest file.
I was also thinking of using a template, but I think that will have the same problem. Additionally, I prefer not to have all the brushes and symbols embedded in every file so performance isn't impacted.
Preferably I would like to store the file on a server, and have it open by default when Illustrator is opened, so everyone always gets the latest version when they open Illustrator. Is there a way do this?

I used my iPhone 5 to take several videos of my grandkids. The videos range from 30 seconds to about 3 minutes. I have put the videos onto my iMac in iPhoto, and still have them on my phone, as well. I would like to share the videos with other family members. What are my best options for doing that. I tried email and sharing from iPhoto, but it says that only works for photos.

The fastest way is to upload them straight to FaceBook or YouTube, both of which you can do straight from your phone. FaceBook will reduce the resolution, YouTube can keep it high. Vimeo is another option, but I have no personal experience with it.
All of these allow you to set permissions so that only those you want can see it.

Shared Photo Streams are permanent iCloud albums for storing photos and videos that can sync across all your iCloud-enabled devices. This is different from your "My Photo stream" that's basically a running tally only holding photos for about a month or 1,000. Shared streams follow different rules...
In your photos app in an iPhone or ipad, at the bottom you'll see a "shared" icon. Choose it and then create a new shared stream, you don't have to actually share it with anyone when it prompts you for a contact just click "Create". Then choose the photos you want in there. Currently I have a common itunes library in a shared folder that each user is linked to. The problem is that when one user adds music to the shared file, it does not automaticaly appear to other users when they open their iTunes. They have to go to the shared library and select the new music in order to make it visable in their iTunes.
Would iTunes file shareing fix this problem?

Sharepoints manages the samba configuration file. It's free software that puts a pretty face on an otherwise cumbersome config file.

As I stated. You will not get prompted on windows, if you have set up sharing in an insecure fashion. You are not using a secured sharing situation.
