BEx report : To see 0 values instead of Blank

Hi all,
We are using a formula in BI Report:
Formula = Given_amt %A tot_amt
Case1:
if Given_amt is 0 and tot_amt is "not 0" then it should show 0.00% not BLANK.
Case2:
If there are no values for Given_amt and tot_amt it should show as a BLANK not 0.
Please advise.

Hi,
The i.next() method will return the Object. You need to show the values manually. Otherwise it will display the classname@hashCode will be displayed.
See the following code and execute it. You will understand what the problem was?

Discoverer 10.1.2.55.26 Viewer Shows NULL instead of Blank

Hello All,
we recently installed Discoverer 10.1.2.55.26 and applied cumulative patches(CM4). we migrated 9.04 version reports to Discoverer 10g(10.1.2.55.26).
On all the Reports, we see NULL instead of Blank spaces in the data in the viewer. How can we change all of the reports to show blank space instead of NULL.
Please share your experience and thoughts on this Issue

Thank you Tamir,
Before i try on the big bang approach. I tried changing the worksheet options for one of the worksheet that shows NULL.
I changed from NULL to blank space and saved the workbook.
we use Oracle Portal to show these workbooks as Portal Views. Portal View was showing NULL before the change, and after changing the worksheet options and saving it, i refreshed the portal view and it started showing Blank instead of NULL. Works fine for that day.
The next Day again it started showing NULL.
Do u think are we missing any step?

How to show text instead of blank value in SelectOneChoice list.

Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to show some string like 'Please Select Value' instead of blank item in the select one choice list. So instead on blank value, this string will be displayed in the choice list and if user doesnt select any value it should be treated as normal blank value and validation should be fired.
May I know is there any property which we can set declaratively or any workaround for this?
My JDev version : 11.1.1.7.0

How to see values (null, 0) instead of blank fields

Hi.
I search the forum but only found messages about users who want to show fields blank, when value is null.
I have the problem other way around. I work with DevSuite 10g and have a xml-Report.
I have fields and for some the query returns null (no value). Than the report shows nothing for this fields. Neither a blank line nor a value like 0.
The problem is, that the other values afterwards the blank ones, slip above.
For Example:
field 1
field 2
field 3
field 4
The Query returns null for field 2 and 3.
Then on the report I see:
field 1
field 4
But what I want to see is:
field 1
field 4
or:
field 1
0
0
field 4
But all I tested doesn´t work. I set a value for "when null" in the attribute inspector and the horizontal elasticity of "fix" (I thought it maybe it "slip together" so it is not shown).
Has anyone a idea how I can show a (blank or 0 value) instead of nothing, so that fields afterwards doesn´t slips up?

I think it was from query, but it is anyway if it is from query or from form (it´s not from column).

We solve this problem in a similar way.
We put a field under/over the other. We give the field we want to show a white background. So it is "sitting" over the other and the underlaying one is not shown (because the overlaying one has a white background).
If the overlaying one is blank it is not shown (so it can´t has a white background) and we see the underlaying field.
But to use triggers is a better solution.
I solve it on the same way as explained above but using triggers also.
But I have to leave a statement about Oracles Report Builder. Sorry but it is more than horrible program. I never have seen such a (also new and) bad programmed program. It is more than hard to work with it ... it cost me every hour I use it more and more power to stay quite ...
Here are the things I really wish to change at reports bulder directly:
- more than one step back (undo)
- there is a difference between the output in reports bulder on the paper output, what is shown when you print it on a paper (from reports bulder) and from what is shown in a PDF file produced with a reports server (that is really annoying, you never now if it is correct what you see in reports builder!)
- better editing and better selectable of the text-boxes and fields
- a way to hierarchically objects that are on the same layer (frame) so that you can really bank on it, that one object is ever behind another one
- not only moving and scaling of fields and boxes on a fix gutter (free transforming and moving would be great) because sometimes a text or a box with line around is not on the right place (out of order; above another object/text a.s.o.) and when it is (why I don´t really know) is not on the right place and the distance to the other object is less than the fix gutter-distance you can´t move it in such a way, that the two objects are flush with/on a fix line/place. It´s because the fix gutter. The distance is lower than the gutter, if you move it, it is not makeable to move it this less-than-the-gutter-distance to be flush with the other object. You can only move it in the fix gutter-distance and than it can´t be flush with the other objects.
It looked really bad and amateurish!
- a tool (a button or something) where you can marked object to flush all together on the same line, so that all objects for example are flush together on one start-line or ends (horizontal or vertical flush).
It would be great and would the work so really easier and better.

How to show Blank values in Bex Report

Hi friends ,
                   In my bex report one of the KF Column having zero's and Blank values .
Ex .   Mat     Price
          A         0
          B
          C        15
                                when i create a condition Price > 0
Then the given Out put is
                                        Mat     Price
                                         C        15
                                                                   but the required Out put is
                                                                                                           Mat     Price
                                                                                                            B
                                                                                                            C        15
I.e I have to Remove only zeros and i should show blank values. Could you pls give some Ideas on this .

The user don't want see materials Price1 which is Zero . So I should remove materials A and F in Price1 column .
IF i apply condition on Price1 > 0 in the out put B and D also not displaying bcoz blank values consider as Zero.

we does have the option to create the char(calday or ...) value variable replacement with char (calday or ...) info object, we can replace with Report r variable value only not with info object.
i hope we can replace the with info object only with formula variable with replacement.

BEx Query- Making into Zero value in the blank row/column

I am running a query on multiprovider, say I have three characteristics (sales org, distribution, customer) & key figure (amount) in the layout. I am lookling the actual & plan data in the report. If there is no plan data for the above combination of characteristics, in the report i am getting blank, instead of blank i want $0.00, how to do this?

This issue is in a Bex Query . We are looking for options on how to display blanks as zeros for keyfigures.In the below screen shot highlighted in red there is no data for march 2015 so it needs to display as zero and the overall result should be Zero.
Issue : Overall Result for Cumulative Quantity FTE should pick up the last value which is Mar 2015 instead its displaying 2 as there is no data for Mar 2015.

KF value is not Displayed in BEx Report ..where as cube, mpro end ok..!!

Hello Experts,
I ran a bex report. In that report KF some NetsSalesValue has not displayed in the BI Report for all the Sales Organiations where as other KFs has displayed the value for all the Sales Organizations.
For that i checked my end. BI report is pulling data from Cube --> Multiprovider --> Bex Report.
I myself checked KF value into Cube level, multiprovider KF level value is avaialable.
And also i checked, in the query properties is there any filters, RKF, CKF, but...i found the KF is a basic KF.
And also..i checked the whether the rollup has happened..properly or not and ran the query but no use.
For your info upto 3 days..back KF value has presented in the report. After that only this issue has encounterred.
I am in confusion where the exact issue will be.
If any body faced this kind of scenario is your project, kindly reply me.
For any more clarifications i will respond you immediately.

check aggregates,index etc for cube
check key figure selection as well in Multiprovider for respective Infoprovider
just create test query on Infoprovider and then on Multiprovider and see..
Check RSRT - regenerate the query
also see there are various options like execute+debug has ....just check them

Delete hash value row in Bex report output

Hi All,
Can anybody suggest how can i remove hash value(not assigned) row in Bex report out put.
my report looks like this:
rows
project position
(hierarchy)
WBS element
(hierarchy)
Order
For each Project position and WBS element hierarchies, i did supress the " not assigned" tick in hiearchy attributes in RSH1.
but in colums i have budget as one of the column.
this budget comes from project position nodes to last node of WBS element but not in order, for order it will be blank but after this order a new row coming up with bold" Not assigned" with that budget amount against this not assigned.
My problem is how can i get rid of this not assinged entire row. I search so many links in SDN, they talk about just to replace the not assigned to some other value as blank or something like that.
Please suggest me how can i get rid of this.
i did tried to restrict Order with "#" but then the whole budget column getting blank.

As i mentioned earlier, i have gone through these links, they just talk about replacing # value or Not Assigned to some other value or blank.
my issue is i need to get rid of that entire row.
when i drop proj def hierarchy ,then wbs hierachy starts, sometimes at the end of wbs hierarchy i get row with #
and sometimes after wbs hierarchy ,then order row then # row is coming.
even after i tick supress unassigned nodes in both Projdef and wbs hierarchies.
i am not supposed to simply replace #( not assigned) symbol or text with some other symbol or text ( thats what they discussing in these links).
i created that macro they said in those links but its just deleting # symbol to blank not the whole row.
hope i made my issue clear.
i have seen so many other links as well

Then I have activated the 0customer master data and done attribute change, I have such display at BEx reporting

Using cumulated values for further calculation in a bex report

Hi ya'll,
I have a problem with using cumulated values in a bex report.
the report has three lines:
Values 1: 100 200 300
Values 2: 10 5 40
Values 3: 1000 500 4000
The values of row 3 is a formula multiplying the values from row 1 and 2... My problem is that the values of row 3 are wrong - for example 200*5 isn't supposed to result in 500 !!
I figure the reason is that the values of row 1 is a cumulated result, meaning the actual value of the second column of the first row i 100 (and not 200).
How can I ensure that my formula for row 3 uses the cumulated result from row 1, instead of the underlying result ?.

Create a column structure with Actual Value columns as well as cumulated value columns. Hide Actual Value Columns from display.
Example :
Actual1 | Actual 2 | Actual 3 | *** 1 | *** 2 | *** 3 |
100 | 100 | 100 | 100 | 200 | 300 |
You can create a forumla to calculate Value 3 : (Actual 1 * Value 2 ).
I guess you are using Cell Referencing to achieve this.

Getting wrong values for decimal value in Bex report

Hi,
 I am getting some problem in Bexreport decimal values.
 In ODS i am able to look the values for this key figure
(Total PO Release Val)= 140.692,00,the same value in Bex report looks like this $ 140,692.00.
 Here one calculation is going with these above values
 % Used = 'Total PO Release Val' / 'Target Value' * 100
 as per ODS value calculation it is correct = 140.692/1000 * 100 =14.692
 as per Bex it is coming like this = 140,692.00/1000 *100 = 142.692.
 in Bex report Percentage valus is not considering value is taking as 140,692.00 rather than 140.692.I mean to say decemal values are ignoring while calculation in Bexreport.can you any please advice me how to comeout of this problem.Appreciate your help.

How do you check the ODS value? The amount will only have two decimal places after it, so you can't have a value like 140.692,00. It seems to be an issue of user's decimal notation (where decimal is represented by comma, and thousand seperator by '.'). Go to user profile, change this setting (in default tab) to correct one (ie decimal being represented by '.') and login again and check it. The value that you see in ODS is 'one hundred forty thousand six hundred ninety two, the same that you get in Bex, only the representation is different).

Bex report to report interface dynamically based on Value in the query

Hi,
Is it possible to change the destination of the report to report interface dynamically based on the data of the bex query?
For example my query has the below data
Plant | KPI | Quantity
P1 | A | 20.00
P2 | B | 25.00
When the user selects KPI A I want to navigate to Query 1, and when KPI B is selected to Query 2. Query 1 and Query 2 have completely different layouts, Instead of create to two destinations is it possible to pick one based on the KPI selected.
Is this possible in Bex report to report interface or any other way.
