BI 7.0 Web Application report

Hi,
We have BW Web Application Protal kinda view, with access to links to different queries which executes on the web.
After upgrade, when I try to access these reports, I do get the report output with different tabs (new view)
Data Analysis / Graphical display/ Information/ Information Broadcasting.
But, I am not able to navigate the report like I can do using BEx analyzer on Web. For example, I cannot save variants on variable screen and the drag and drop feature is not possible.
Is this possible? If so what do we need to do?

Thanks Arun. We have BI AddOn 7.X (based on 7.10) Support Package 8, Patch 1, Revision 581.
We are not using any template. The query link is on the web for the users to execute them.
Saving variants on the web will be a very good feature since, all our users only access the queries through the web and not from BEx Analyzer.

It's working fine except printing report in character mode. When we run the report then preview is Ok but in printing format becomes wrong.
I means printing is not same as preview.

How can we insert Sub Headings in a WEB TEMPLATE in Web Application Designer... if possible ,plz give me the brief steps ...
example i'm using... filters for COUNTRY wise.. and STATE wise... and CITY wise..

I had met the same issue, here is my solution:
Add the site into Compatibility View.
Press F12 and check the Browser Mode and Document Mode, make sure they are correct.

Web Application: Can't Find BEx Query!

Hello -
I'm new to a company and I've been tasked with identifying the BEx queries that underlie the published web application reports that are accessed via our company's intranet site. I am able to identify the queries via the URL on a few of the published reports. However, there are a few reports that do not indicate the query name in the URL; these reports are located in a section referred to as "Embedded Reports" and are accessed by clicking on a hyper-link. Even after I click on the hyper-link and arrive at the web application report, I am still unable to identify the query name within the URL. Furthermore, the URL does not change when I click on the Hyper-link or even after I execute the report.
Does anyone have any insight into my issue? I have experience with web application reports however my experience is limited to the basics.

Forcing Variable Entry with Web Application Designer Bookmark

Hello All,
We have users that are creating bookmarks in a Web Application report. They want to change their dates every time they open the bookmark, but the variable entry screen is not showing up even with the "Force Variable Entry Screen" option checked. Is this how a bookmark is suppossed to funciton or is there anyway to make the variable entry screen appeear with a saved bookmark.
***the purpose of the bookmark is for users to save the format of the report as they see fit

when you save yorru personalization, you dont save it to internet explorer favourites. its a different code to save personilization.

Problems access to a web application (Web Interface or Web report)

Hi,
We found problems with the access to web application. Some users have problems with direct links to the web applications(Web Interface or Web reporting), when they click on the link an error message appears, the message displays the following text:
"Cannot open file Bex?sap-language=ENbsplanguge=ENcmd=idoc_TE.."
Clicking in details the message is "No Access to specified file"
For this users the access to excel reporting is correct, the message appears when they click on the direct web links through the browser or directly in BW system, but if they type the URL they can access. Other users can use the direct web link without problems.
I highly appreciate any help or idea about how to solve this issue.

I have a Web application in VS 2010 (NET 4.0) running reports in VS 2003 (NET 1.1) and CR XI. What should I consider for the reports to run well? When setting up the basics of the folder where the reports are in IIS 7.5, item I keep in the Application Pool: NET 1.1, but when in the same IIS server I click on Browse *: 80, I generated the following error: HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error
The requested page can not be accessed Because the related configuration data for the page is invalid.

Reports are made in VS 2003 (. NET 1.1) and CR XI using a framework. This framework is placed in the web server (Windows 2008 Server R2) and called from VS 2010.
Sorry, I'm still having problem understanding this.
Only CRVS2010 will work with VS2010. The reports can be created in any version of CR you want, but to load the reports in VS2010, you need CRVS2010, create a project in VS2010, then deploy the project and the CRVS2010 runtime(?).
E.g.;
1) Create report using CR XI
2) Install CRVS2010 on a computer that has VS2010
3) Create a project using CRVS2010 in VS 2010 - can use any framework you want
4) Deploy VS2010 project
5) Install CRVS2010 runtime

Error when Opening a Crystal Report in a Web Application

Hi All,
How are things?
We are trying to open a Crystal report in a Web Application based on a Web service on Appache Tomcat.
The report is in the Test Environment poiting to a SQL 2005 Database.
The report opens and runs fine in Crystal Reports and in Infoview.
The Web application throws back a long error as shown below.
Looks to be like a SDK Issue ( Not pretty sure )...

How a J2EE web application access CR reports stored on the CR Server XI?

Hi,
I'll be working on some crystal report templates that will eventually be hosted/publish on the CR Server XI.
My questions are:
1. How my J2EE web application access those reports?
2. Do my web application uses some CR API for the connectivity and integration?
3. What will happen to the database connectivity of the report template? since the report are created locally.
4. Can the report template be edited/updated on the server?
5. How the CR XI login functionality be involve in the integration (web application ---> CR Server XI)?
6. Is the J2EE web application be deployed on similar web/application server where the CR Server XI resides?
7. What is the role of RAS, Universe, Business View Manager to this whole CR integration?
I hope you can provide some guidance on this journey to Crystal Report world

1) Your application connects via the Java SDK using the appropriate JAR files.
2) It can. You can set the database information at runtime or use the already populated information from Enterprise.
3) Same as 2. Typically when you save the report to Enterprise you set up the database information there so that it runs against the database you want without prompting. You can change this via code to hit whatever equivalent database you want.
4) Yes. You would have to use RAS and the RCAPI to accomplish this via code. You can also make changes in the designer and overwrite the existing report template.
5) You will log in via code. The information on how to do so is in the SDK documentation, which I will link.
6) It can be deployed to the same machine as CR Server, though we recommend against that. Typically you will want to deploy it to a seperate web server and allow it to connect to the CR Server across the network.
7) RAS can be used to run reports, as well as the page server. The universe and business view manager are not directly used in code. If a report runs against a universe or business view then it will use them for data, but you wouldnt do anything with them directly.

URL link in rows/colomns of a report web application designer.

Hi,
I would like to create a URL link in a report which jumps to documents on livelink.
For example:
1. bw    30.000    www. google.nl
2. sap   40.000    www. sap.com
3. basis 50.000   www. nu.nl
etc.
etc.
Do all the rows have different URLS, is that possible in the web application designer? Or do I have to use RRI? Or a user exit?

I used the RRI already but would like to have a hyperlink in the report. (So, the prefix of the URL is always the same an I have put this in RRI and used the & and contract ID as dynamic part of the URL.)
In a BW web report, our customer would like to display a characteristic value as a hyperlink, so that when clicking on the link, the user is taken to an external website holding a document. SO I am just looking for a javascript perhaps? Or maybe even abap in transformation? To actually create the hyperlink in this report.

Problems about deploying Oracle web application (Forms, Reports)

I am going to deploy Oracle web applications (Forms and Reports) and plan to use the same server machine for both Application web server and Database server.
1. How can I enable SSL (for data encryption) on Application web server for Oracle Forms ?
2. Since both Application web server and Database server will use the same machine, do I still need Oracle Advanced Security for data transmission between Application web server and Database server if data encryption for transmission is required ?
3. Can I user Oracle Forms to call Oracle Report on web as I did in Client/Server in the past ?
Experts like you may have come across such problems. Would you please give me some opinions/ideas ?

Hi Abdul,
The answer is yes, you can integrate your report in any web application as any other normal JSP. You can package the JSP as part of a WAR and deploy it on an application server. The only requirements are:
reports_tld.jar must be available to the application. You can put in inside the WEB-INF/lib directory of the web application.
Reports Server must be available to the JSP. If you are using Oracle9iAS for deploying the JSP, the Reports server is automatically available. If you are using some other application server like WebLogic, you can use the J2EE Thin Client (http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/examples/Tools/index.html)

Hi All,
The business is looking for a report that lists all documents added to all sites within a web application ( with multiple sites ) and includes both custom and standard ( modified , modified by etc.) metadata
Is auditing the way to go or is there some way to report against the index created by the Search application ?
