  • BI Publisher Desktop in Word 2010 - add-in active but no menu or toolbar

I have installed BI Publisher Desktop. In Word 2010, I can see the add-in is active.
But i do not see the familiar BI Publisher menu items or toolbar items. I am just getting used to Word2010 and the new ribbon toolbar concept. (I formerly used BI Publisher on Word 2003.)
So i don't think i'm blind... but I don't see the BI Publisher custom menu/toolbar items.
Has anyone experienced this? Anyone know what i have to do to get this working?

Again, it is not Oracle certified. This means you are on your own if you find product issues and Oracle Support
will not be able to help you (including notes or patches).
The fact that an Oracle product is not certified does not mean the product will not work (it may work as in the case of Perky) it simply means Oracle has not carried out a complete test of the product with the referred product version.

  • Problem Publishing Handouts to Word 2003

I am having a problem publishing from Adobe Captivate 4 to Word 2003.  I have followed all steps to create the file:
    Open an Adobe Captivate project.
    Select File > Publish.
In the Publish dialog box, select Print.
In Project Title, enter the desired name without the filename extension (.doc).
In Folder, enter the full path for the folder in which to save the file or click Browse to locate the folder.
Select an Export range. The export range is made up of the slides that you want to export to Word. You can select all slides, the current slide, a selection, or a range of slides.
    In Type, select Handouts.
Select from the following Handout Layout options:  Use Tables In The Output, Slides Per Page, Caption Text, Add Blank Lines For Notes, etc.
    When you finish, click Publish.
The problem occurs when I open the Word doc--all slide notes and info is there, but the images themselves are not in the Word doc.  I have tried publishing as a storyboard, lesson, handout and step by step--the issue occurs in all scenarios.
    Thank you!

    Hello
Perhaps you already checked it, but I did not read it in your posting: in the Handout Layout Options, did you activate 'Include objects and Question slides'? Those objects are all the 'graphical' things like images, the captions (not the text in the captions), the drawings...

  • BI Publisher Desktop - MS Word giving error!!!

    HI Experts,
I am following BI Publisher 'Getting started' article on Oracle site. In on of the step it asks to open BI Publisher report into MS word. When I did this it give an error.
    Article link: http://st-curriculum.oracle.com/obe/fmw/bi/biee/r1013/bipub/intro/gettingstarted.htm
    Error screen shot:
    http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/687/bipworderror.jpg
Do I need to configure some parameters in MS word?? Please help me at this point.
    Thanks in advance,
    DK

I am going on the assumption that the report in Answers has some type of parameters. By parameters I mean that a prompt, server, or presenation variable is used to run the report in answers.
The word add on can not handle bi answers reports with parameters.
But you are in luck as uncle Danscan has already handled this problem. You won't find it explained anywhere else.
Step One: Create a non-parameterized version the BI Answers report. Basically hard code values in the report. And save that version of the report. Keep your orginal version as you will need that later.
Step Two: Link Publisher with the non-parameterized version of the report.
Step Three: Open word and load up the data as you would expect to do.
Step Four: Create the report template by adding in the table, fields, and other stuff. Once its is setup it is time to test it.
Step Five: Open BI Answers. ( I am assuming that both Publisher and Answers are loaded together in the Enterprise way. If you are unsure click on the more products link next to the Answers link in the BI Dashboard/Answers tool. Publisher should be available). Go to the dashboard that you want to run the publisher tool from. This should have the same prompt as the original BI Answers reports have. You will need these prompts in a second.
Step Six: Test the publisher report. If everything looks good we can move onto the final step. If not reopen word adjust, upload, test etc.
Step Seven: Go into publisher and change the Reports in the Data model to the versions with parameters. (At this point you can not open the online template again till the reports are switched back. You can do some fancy hacking to get it to work, but that is a trick for another post)
Step Eight: Open BI Answers/Dashboards and test your new publisher report out.
Step Nine: Question your sanity after all of these steps.
Good luck and I will offer any help I can.

  • BI Publisher Desktop - RTF - Start New Group on Odd Page

    Hi All,
    Versions:
    APEX 3.1.2
    BI Publisher Desktop: 10.1.3.4
BI Publisher Server: 10.1.3.4 on LINUX
    Duplex Printing
    Problem:
I tried to get this answered on the BI Publisher forum but it was kinda quiet over there.
I need to start a sub-group on an ODD page in a printed report. BI Publisher does not support MSWord Section Breaks inside inner groups. It strips out the section break RTF code from the RTF file (\sbkodd).
    Question:
Is there a way to put the following logic (or equivalent) into BI Publisher Desktop (MS Word RTF format)?
    IF Page_number is ODD then
    ....insert page break
    END IF
    Insert page break
I am wondering if I am missing something obvious.
    Cheers,
    Patrick Cimolini

    Patrick,
This is not a great way to accomplish this but it might work:
    1. in addition to your data set send an item which contains the COUNT of the record set.
    2. find out how many records are displayed per page.
    3. add some sort of sequence to your rowset such as ROWNUM and check to see if FLOOR(ROWNUM/rows_per_page) +1
    FLOOR(ROWNUM/rows_per_page) + DECODE(mod(ROWNUM,rows_per_page),0,0,1) is odd.
    edit
that math is off, the last record will get pushed to the next page ill correct it...

  • How to filter cancelled PO lines using XML publisher desktop

    Hello,
I've created a new PO template for printing using XML Publisher Desktop for Word. Output format is in RTF. All data required was printed except when the user canceled a particular PO line, that line will also be printed out with quantity and total amount 0. How can I filter PO lines with "canceled" flag not be printed out? Is it possible to insert conditional statement within the table template? How to do that?
    Thanks in advance

if you want only test it by XML publisher desktop
then you can use if statement
    for example in field
    <?if:TAG1='test?>then
    <?TAG2?>then
<?end if?>for row between (for example)
    <?for-each:G_GROUPNAME?>and
<?end for-each?>BTW use this method is not correct in my opinion
if you use "canceled" flag as parameter in concurrent program
then you may get xml for RTF template only with needed data

  • Error message when publishing to Word 2003 from Captivate v5.5

When trying to publish a project to Word 2003 that was created in Captivate v5.5, the author is getting the following message:
Publishing failed. Please ensure that MS Word is installed and that the document is not opened and repeat.
(Translated from German to English for this thread).
The author assures me they have Word 2003 installed, and the document is not open as it has not been created yet.
I tried it on my PC with v5.5 and Word 2003 and it worked OK for me.
Any ideas why it might not work for others ?
    Noel

    Hi Noel,
I assume you are not working on MAC, in case you are try (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/902/cpsid_90224.html )
Can you do the following Test--
Launch MS word as an application in the background and then republish.
Open a New Dummy project and then try Publishing to  Word.
Try exporting your text captuions to Word format and see if that is working or not?

  • BI Publisher Desktop - Log On menu question

    Hi,
When I press Log On button is asking me about username, password and Report Server. Does anybody knows what address should I put in Report Server,?
I'm using BI Publisher Desktop 5.6.3 and Oracle Apps.....I'm not using XMLP Enterprise.
    Regards,
    Marius

The report server expects the Url of the server - http://servernam:port/xmlpserver. The user/password you can try as Administrator/Administrator.
By Oracle Apps do you mean EBS ? If so, BI Publisher Desktop does not integrate with EBS. You will have to work offline, ie, take a sample xml data and load the XML data from BI Publisher Desktop (Menu--> Oracle BI Publisher --> Data --> Load Sample XML data). Once the RTF template is ready, we need to upload the template using
It should work with BI Publisher hosted on Oracle AS 10.1.3.

  • Error message when publishing from Captivate 4 to MS Word 2003

Is anyone else getting an error message when publishing from Captivate 4 to MS Word 2003?  I tried all 4 types and still get the following:
"An error was encountered while publishing to Word.  Verify the following and try again.  Word is installed on your system.  Word is not busy."
Word is installed on my system and was not in use, so I am not sure why the error.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi there
I use Captivate 4 and it publishes to Word 2003 without issues.
Perhaps it has to do with the way your Word 2003 has been installed? Either that or it's a "rights" issue to be addressed by your IT propellerheads?
    Cheers... Rick

I have a 2008 version of BI Publisher Installed against Word 2007 (Office Home and Student Edition) which works fine.
I de-installed this and installed the latest version but the BI Publisher tab does not appear in Word now.
I've repeated the exercise several times - I can install the older version and the plugin appears.
    Any Ideas?

  • BI Publisher Desktop install on Windows remote desktop

    Hi all,
Is there any way to install BI Publisher Desktop on windows remote desktop (terminal services)?
If I install this currently as one user, the other user can not access (despite having all the correct security settings). The real issue is I think with MS Office because the Add-in is not seen by other users. But I have no idea how to go about solving this issue.
    Thanks.
    Px.

There is an Oracle support document [468953.1] that suggests that each user run the installer on a shared machine. This advice doesn't actually work as the second user who attempts to install it on a machine will only be presented with the option to uninstall it.
Just today with the help of ProcessMonitor I have figured out how to deliver it to all users. Note that my setup is Office 2003. The below instructions may need alteration for other versions or may not work at all.
After you have installed BI Publisher Desktop copy the TemplateBuilder.dot file found in:
    C:\Documents and Settings\[installing_user_name]\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP
    to
    C:\program files\microsoft office\OFFICE11\STARTUP
This will cause the TemplateBuilder word template to launch at startup for all users and deliver the "Oracle BI Publisher" menu item and BIP toolbar.
Hope this helps. If you are using a version of Word other than 2003 and need to modify the procedure please post any required changes on this thread. I would like to assemble a procedure for all supported versions of Word.
