BI Publisher vs PeopleSoft XML Publisher & Error with Templates

Hello All,
I am completely new to this so please bear with me.
1.) What is the difference between Oracle BI Publisher and PeopleSoft XML Publisher?
2.) I am working with PeopleSoft XML publisher and I had to make a change ontop of a bundle.
I needed to change the rtf template so I uploaded it, however, when our report defn, template defn, and file defn got migrated to out tst environment something happened and I am getting the following error: Template file not found in DB. Because of this error I can no longer access the report definition via the application. It is also telling me that there is a problem with the LoadTempDefn process in the peoplecode. This is pointing to the scroll area where the templates are uploaded.
I need some help resolving this i.e details on what tables PeopleSoft uses in the DB to store templates? And how I can get rid of this error.
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • PeopleSoft XML Publisher report error with java.io.FileNotFoundException

    Hi,
    I have created two reports using XML Publisher in Peoplesoft Financials. The two reports are not related and they were submitted for processing separately. The first report completes without any issues. The second report results in error with the following message:

    The weird thing is I was able to run this report without any issues few weeks ago although another user also ran into same error. The PeopleCode step that has been identified is essentially same in the two reports. I checked the app server and the directory does exist as well as the xml files for the two reports. The problem does not occur in test environment, just in production. Any help would be appreciated.

    We encounter the same problem. Did you get the answer for this issue? Thanks in advance.

  • PeopleSoft XML Publisher Desktop installation issue

    Hi,
    I've tried to install the XML publisher desktop desing helper.
    I've installed it without error. But when i open the Office word program, it didn't show up the Template Builder menu on office tool bar.
    I've tried to do the following:
    1. Set the trust center setting in word option, Marco is all enabled, and the VBA project is checked.
    2. Close the Microsfot program, IE, Word, etc.
    3. Close the MSN Messager program
    4. Uninstall the MSN Live
    5. Then I re-run the installation file of XMLp several times to re-install it.
    After that, i still can not find any menu tool bar named "Templdate Builder" in word program.
    During the installation, there's no error, the install process is smoothly ended, but in the word program there's no menu for Template Builder.
    The version of Microsoft Word is 2007, and the version of XMLp Design helper for Word is 5.6.2, and the Java JRE version is 1.6.07.
    Please help on figuring this!
    Thanks,
    Saxon SI

    Hi:
    Check for Add-Ins in Word Options. Make sure that TemplateBuilder.dot is active; and look for 'Add-Ins' menu on your document. XML Publisher menus will be visible on that tab.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Drill down capability in PeopleSoft XML Publisher?

    Hi,
    I'm interested in implementing the following functionality in PeopleSoft XMLP: I have a table produced in an RTF document that looks like the following:
    Term: <TERM>, Subject: <Subject>, Cat No: <CATALOG>, Section: <SECTION>, Course Title: <Course Title>
    Question: <QUESTION_ID>
    Student Response Detail
    50524 5 Always
    51042 5 Always
    I'd like to give the ability to drill down on the student ID that will bring up a seperate section of the report that has the data grouped by that student ID instead of by question. I'd then like the QUESTION_ID in the 2nd section of the report to link back to the original section where the responses are grouped by STUDENT_ID.
    Thanks in advance.
    JK

    Hi Mathieu
    You can certainly build dynamic URLs in your templates. Managing to call other reports within the PS environment is another matter.
    I have pinged the PS dev team to see if they can fill in the gap.
    Might be worth posting a little more information on the reports and what you want to drill to, pass parameters, etc ?
    Regards
    Tim

  • 10g Upgrade - XML Parser errors with certain escape codes (&#x0338)

    NLS_CHARACTERSET = WE8ISO8859P15
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET = AL16UTF16
    Since our 10.2.0.3.0 upgrade (from 9.2.0.1.0) our xml fails with the following message:
    ORA-31011: XML parsing failed
    ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing
    LPX-00217: invalid character 824 (U+0338)
    Error at line 4
    We are using escape codes in our xml that have worked fine on 9i. Example xml:
    <PRINT_LAYOUT_FOOTER>&#x0338;&#x0338;&#x0338;&#x0338;This map was created with Promap</PRINT_LAYOUT_FOOTER>
    I am completely flummoxed - Any ideas?

    You've switched from a Java Based Parser to a 'C' based parser, which is much, much faster. However one of the requirements of the 'C' implementation is that all characters in the database character set. I'm guessing that if you switch to AL32UTF8 for the database character set the problem will go away. BTW 9.2.0.1.0 was desupported for XML related features when 9.2.0.3.0 was released.

  • Validate xml generates errors on template attributes using Expression Langu

    I'm getting errors like: "Error(0,0): Attribute linkText not defined on element myTemplate:smart_base".
    where linkText is an attribute defined in my template file smart_base.
    I'm using Jdev 10G and expression language.
    However, the code for both the uix and uit files work fine together. Does anyone know what I need to do to eliminate these errors?
    In the code below, the only attribute that gets no error is "selectedTab".
    Thanks, Steve
    My uix code is:
    <myTemplate:smart_base
    selectedTab="1"
    linkText="SMART - View Frameworks"
    helpPage="Framework.htm"
    studyText="${sessionScope.currentStudy.StudyName}"
    frameworkText="${sessionScope.currentStudy.FrameworkName}">
    My template code is:
    <templateDefinition xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/uix/ui"
    xmlns:ui="http://xmlns.oracle.com/uix/ui"
    xmlns:data="http://xmlns.oracle.com/uix/ui"
    targetNamespace="http://www.example.org/demo/templates"
    expressionLanguage="el"
    localName="smart_base">
    <type base="ui:pageLayout">
    <attribute name="linkText" javaType="string" />
    <attribute name="selectedTab" javaType="int"/>
    <attribute name="helpPage" javaType="string"/>
    <attribute name="studyText" javaType="oracle.cabo.ui.data.DataObject"/>
    <attribute name="frameworkText" javaType="oracle.cabo.ui.data.DataObject"/>
    </type>

    Steven,
    If you restart JDeveloper and/or do File-->Close All after you are done editing the .uit file, do you still get the validation errors? The problem is probably that you edit the .uit file, and the code that does the validation in the UIX visual editor does not realize you changed your UIT file. This is a bug.

  • Error in Preview - XML Publisher Admin page

    Hello-
    I am having this issue where all templates are getting the same error when previewing under (R) XML Publisher Administrator-> (T) Templates-> (B) Preview in EBS 11.5.10.2. I am getting the error below after clicking on the preview button (prompted the Open/Save button) then open PDF.
    Anybody who has experienced the same problem? The error is happening on all the templates but on preview only. I have cleared the temp directory but still the same error.

  • Add XML Publisher Administrator responsibility with EBS 11.5.9

    Hi all !
    I'm exploring the possibility to use XML Publisher inside Oracle E Business Suite 11.5.9. because...unfortunately it's not possible to upgrade EBS to the 11.5.10 version
    I found a note on the forum which says: "Starting from 11.5.9 the XMLP is bundled with Apps. You just need to add XML Publisher Administrator responsibility to your profile, and install MS Word template builder on your PC".
    So...my questions are:
    1) how can I add the XML Publisher Administrator responsibility to my profile ? Should I set up something (already existing into EBS), or should I install a patch ?
    2) how can I know the XML Publisher version bundled within Apps (if what is written inside that note it's true), 'cause I'd like to use the 5.6.3 version
    Also, I looked for a solution on Metalink and the only note regarding how to use XML Publisher inside E Business Suite 11.5.9. is the note id 278727.1 (even I should install the 4.5 XML Publisher version - TOO OLD)
    Thanks in advance
    Alessandro

    Hi Ravi thanks for you answer !
    So....I tried to create the responsibility from scratch, because nothing is defined for XML Publisher, in this way (from the OA System Administrator):
    Responsibility Name: XML Publisher Administration
    Application: XML Publisher
    Responsibility Key: XDO_ADMINISTRATION
    .....but inside the Data Group area
    Name : Standard
    Application: ?
    ....and inside the Menu area which information should I write ?
    Is there something to follow in order to create from scratch a XML responsibility ?
    Thanks again

  • When running an xml publisher report the xml output leads to 9 mb and the excel output file leads to 20 mb.But the output records is originally 4000 records. When copy to new excel it is showing 3.5 mb only. Does anyone knows the answer for this issue?

    When running an xml publisher report the xml output leads to 9 mb and the excel output file leads to 20 mb. The records contained in excel file is 4000 records. When taking the excel records and copy to new excel file the excel file size is 3.5 mb only.Why does the oracle software generates 20mb file?
    Does any one knows the answer please advice?

    Hello,
    This issue is because the Excel output from BI Publisher is MHTML (XML Publisher generates XHTML) not binary .xls.
    MHTML and XHTML are more verbose formats than binary .xls.
    It will be large because the current Excel output is just an HTML and not compressed like PDF. Please use the workaround (save it as .xls file).  This is a known limitation of RTF layout templates.
    BI Publisher Enterprise has a new feature True Excel Templates. The layouts generate binary Excel output.
    Excel Output File Size Generated By BI Publisher is Very Large (Doc ID 760437.1)

  • XML Publisher Desktop and Enterprise...?

    Hello,
    Apologies if I missed some obvious documentation or whatever... But..
    I don't really understand how XML Publisher Enterprise and XML Publisher Desktop fit together.
    Does Desktop require Enterprise? Are they more complimentary, or is Desktop more of a "Lite" version of Enterprise? - Can I run either one or both as needed or desired...?
    Any info, thoughts, suggestions... Pointers to relevant docs... Or anything along that line would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks!

    (Cute... The spell checker doesn't have XML in it's dictionary!) ;)

    XMLP Enterprise is for running and distributing reports. It handles extracting data and then applying templates to your data to give it the correct look and feel.
    XMLP Desktop is used to design your templates. So, for a given report, use the Desktop version to design your template and then upload it to XMLP Enterprise.
    I would recommend reading this article: http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/rittman-xmlpub.html?rssid=rss_otn_articles

    How can i Rectify this?

    Hi Ark,
    In order to generate a report using xml publisher. we need the following.
    1. XML Data
    2. Template file (RTF/PDF/..)
    XML data will not be created by the template file.
    We will be required to create XML data. One of the easiest way to create xml output is using the RDF. We can change the rdf output type in the concurrent program to XML.
    Once the xml and the template is available, "XML Report Publisher" will be able to generate the output in the required format.
    Thanks,
    K.Nataraja Suthan,
