BI + SEM 6.0 Financial functions IRR, NPV

Hi everybody!,
I'm looking for the older financial functions like IRR, NPV calculations. Somebody told me that they are not longuer in BI unless you install SEM 6.0.
We've just install it this morning but the functions doesn't appear when I try to create a planning function of type formula (in financial functions).
does it needs any customizing after SEM 6.0 install? are these funcions in another location?

It seems not all the planning function from SEM BPS are available in BW BPS. Please check the links below: -

I would like to make use of financial functions like xirr,irr,npv using oracle/forms/sql , is there any resource available in oracle product family, if no how can i use there functions using oracle products.

I'm unsure which Oracle product might include built-in financial functions -- perhaps one their Business Intelligence products? If your math and Java skills are up to the task, you might consider writing a JavaBean that contains your own implementations of the financial functions you require.

There is a slew of financial functions in 10G that did not exist in 9i.

NPV is the net present value - basically how much a set of future cash flows (minus initial investment) is worth today.
IRR is the Internal Rate of Return - Basically the discount rate used to make the NPV of cash flows = 0
In 9i it appears you would have to write your own function

BW is part of SCM system. As you have already worked in BW systems, I would suggest to take
training at SAP in that stuff on SCM lines.

I need some statistical and financial formulas such as NPV, IRR etc and many more such functions to handle financial applications. Does oracle provide such builtin functions as in excel?????

There are several statistical functions in Oracle (you can check the documentation), but not those you mention.
You can create your own functions using PL/SQL (and Java, I believe), or you can invoke Excel from Oracle Forms using OLE2 methods or DDE conversation. You can find examples in the Forms Demos CD.

Well for sure the Documentation is really good. In addition to it, I would suggest that you should take up OCP DBA course from OU.That course will help you to get basic( and a little more than that ) knowledge of oracle database and its various parts.That will make up your base from where you can move ahead readind docs, reading astktom.oracle.com.

Excel 2011 Mac - function IRR() not found "#NAME?"

Hello everyone
I need to calculate the Internal Rate of Return using the "=IRR()" function. The Problem is that Excel does
not find the function and returns the "#NAME?" error. I checked the web for a solution but can't find it to safe my life.
How can I add the function to Excel 2011 for Max?

Click the cell that displays the error, click the button that appears , and then click the option "Trace Error"
if it appears. (Sorry, I've not install Excel 2011 for MAC, so I cannot confirm the exact name of the option)

Hi! I had the same question.
Nobody was able to give me an answer.
I asked people who work in this field and even asked them to check with their friends. Nobody gave me an answer.
I even sent an email to Oracle. Larry was too busy keeping an eye on gates to respond to me. I called Oracle. Nobody knew or pretended to know anything.
So I came to the conclusion that this must be the most closely guarded secret, vital for our national security, since WWII. So I gave up.
If you had any better luck, let me know.
PS. One person did have a cynical answer. He said Larry competes with private individuals for services. A private person maybe happy to bill $100-$150/hr (which is not bad money for an individual) against Larry's much higher billing (which is not that high for corporations) . According to this person Larry wanted a little less competition for his boys.
I don't know if that makes sense, but that was the only comment anybody gavbe me so far.

Plateform for inexperienced Financial Functional Consultant

I just got certified in AP & GL but no experience therefore cannot find a place to work. Does anybody know where a person should go in this case to get some experience to be eligible for the job. This really bothers me and may be all new comers in IT industry when they are asked to bring some experience. When they are not given a chance to work then how come they will gain experience. My request to all who are experienced in this particular module i.e.,Financials...where did you get the experience when you finished your studies or when you got certified..? I am in Karachi Pakistan. Plz advise.

Let me say this, you cannot become a Financial consultant the first day you start on the job. But to get there, there are so many things you need to learn and you will learn if you take your steps right.
Do you have experience in Accounting/Finance? Let me give you some suggestions based on this.

Hi,
It looks like an application issue since you are getting a HTTP 500. The other errors relate to the fact that ti can't resolve some dynamic values in needs to extract from the resonse content since the pages are different (probably due the 500 error).

What formula did you use?
Did you look at VariancePercent/VarPer
VariancePercent is a financial function that evaluates the difference, in percent, between the specified values based on account type for the current account. For example, for an Income, Flow, Asset, or Balance account, a positive result represents an increase, so the result appears as a positive number. For Expense or Liability accounts, a positive result represents a decrease, so the result appears as a negative number.
