BIP Desktop version vs. EBS version
I am experiencing unpredictable results between how Word 2007 (with 10.1.3.3.0) renders my Template and how EBS (BIP v5.6.2) renders the same Template (content above start:body on first page missing). If I am on v5.6.2 in EBS, do I have to use the Desktop 5.6.2? Or can I use 10.1.3.2.1 or 10.1.3.3.2? OWWS seems to think you must use the same version, but I was told the opposite in Oracle's XMLPub Class. Does anyone know?

After wrestling with this for days, we have installed the ATG.RUP6 rollup patch which includes BI Pub v5.6.3 into a test instance. Using the templates that previewed fine in Word with plugin 10.1.3.3.0, I have tested all of them and they all now print and preview exactly as expected. I am not insane! The problems were variations on header objects not appearing on page one of a multiple page report and are now apparently resolved. I also thought that the later plugin versions would not cause any incompatibilities, but this is obviously not the case. I hope this helps someone.

We've built a solution that uses basic BIP APIs (RTFProcessor basically) and now are considering to migrate BIP desktop to version 10.1.3.3 since it could address some difficulties we have with previous version. The fact is that we've done heaps of tests using APIs in version 10.1.3.2.0 and would like to avoid regression tests that would be necessary if we migrate APIs to 10.1.3.3.
Question: can we built templates using 10.1.3.3 and keep APIs in version 10.1.3.2.0? What issues could we have doing so? e.g what unsupported features? would we miss only new features for 10.1.3.3?
Couldn't find any reference web site documentation.

If I look in the white paper "Publishing Concurrent Requests with XML Publisher" from January 2005 I can on page 9 see that there is a new field in the Submit Request form (Forms environment); "Layout", where you can tell which XML Publisher template the report should use. This fixes the problem that you need to submit two requests, one for the actual report to XML and one for the layout generation.
Does anyone know in which patch level/version on eBS/XML Publisher this new field is added? I have an environment 11.5.10 (unpatched) and there the new field is not visible? Does it come with the 11.5.10 CU2 or what do I have to do get this new field?

Please apply patch 3435480, that integrates the XML Publisher concurrent requests into one (instead of running two).On application of this patch, the service request form FNDRSRUN will upgrade itself to the newer version ($Header FNDRSRUN.fmb 115.136 2004/12/10 15:14 jtoruno ship). You will be able to see a new button called 'Options' in the 'Layout' section of the same SR form. This is the place where one selects the 'Template/Output Format' and then submit the request for further processing. We have implemented this with the 11.5.10 CU2 release and then applying the patch.

1- Why the Platform is showing linux 32 as this instance is running on a Linux 64 bit server ?

While applying patch - 14703419, I got conflict patch with 12848228 which I hv applied during the JDK upgrade to 6. So I hv rolledback the patch 12848228 and applied the patch 14703419

For application release, you can get that from the DB. Query fnd_product_groups or you can get that from Help -> About page.

Yes, but you have to apply certain patches. Patches 3263588 and 4302733 did we apply. This was about 2 years ago we did it so there may be new numbers.

BIP desktop vs BIP enterprise edition.
Hi,
WHat is the difference between BIP Desktop and BIP Enterprise editon. I installed BIP Desktop first and coverted few Answers reports. I tried to sftp the report and was not successfull. I contacted oracle support and was informed that I need to install BIP Enterprise edition and apply a patch to the server version for the sftp to work. Now I have both desktop and enterprise edition installed on my machine. Now I am totally confused. I have few questions.
1. In which case do we BIP Desktop and BIP enterprise edition.
2. Will the microsoft word pugin work only for the desktop version?
3. When I connect to BIP now I am not sure if I am connected to Desktop version or enterprise edition.
4. When I run BIP from presentaion services I see that I am connected to the desktop version as I see few of my developed reports in there.
5. After I installed BIP Enterprise edition I see the 'Start BI Publisher' and 'Stop BI Publisher' in the start menu. When I click on start BI Publisher I am connecting to BIP and in there I dont see any reports. SO I am assuming it is the enterprise edition version.
6. If I want to ftp reports from enterprise edition version how do I do it.
Please help. I am totally confused with two versions installed. Thanks in advance.BIP Desktop is for Report/ RTF template development and testing purpose. It is against the static data or if you have installed Enterprise, you can connect to live data as well. While enterprise is the complete product with all the functionality.

Strange problem with bip desktop. 11.1.1.5
i have a couple of hundred reports made by bip desktop 10.1.3.4.
all reports that i have made is for bip emebedded for enterprise one (9,0).
they work as the should. but now the company upgraded to win7 and office 2010
so i had to upgrade to bip desktop 11.1.1.5.
and now if i download a reports thats made with the old tool. and i change something in it an upload it again the report stop to work.
heard from a partner company that they had the same problem.
it works if i make a complety NEW rtf template. but i cant make changes in the old ones.
anyone experinced this problem and got a soulution for this.
or do i have remake all my reports again with the new desktop tool ?
its very annoying problem. i got tons of changes that is needed to be done in old reports and i dont want to touch them if this will make em stop working

If you have very intricate XSLT/Xpath code in your templates, I would worry about breaking them. Always save the original file before manipulating it in the Desktop add-in. Make one change at a time and test it, because you know debugging templates is not fun. -

I have upgraded Apple Aperture from version 2 to version 3 and I'm having a problem with the "Highlights and Shadows" adjustment. According to the user's manual, I should have access to an advanced disclosure triangle which would allow me to adjust mid contrast, colour, radius, high tonal width and low tonal width.
If anyone has any suggestions as to how to access this advanced section, I'd be most grateful.Hi David-
The advanced adjustments in the Highlights & Shadows tool were combined into the "Mid Contrast" slider in Aperture 3.3 and later. If you have any images in your library that were processed in a version of Aperture before 3.3, there will be an Upgrade button in the Highlights & Shadows tool in the upper right, and the controls you asked about under the Advanced section. Clicking the Upgrade button will re-render the photo using the new version of Highlights & Shadows, and the Advanced section will be replaced with the new Mid Contrast slider. With the new version from 3.3 you probably don't need the Advanced slider, but if you want to use the older version you can download it from this page:

You need iTunes 10.0 or greater to update your phone...iTunes isn't confused at all. If you're on a Mac, you'll need OS X 10.5.8 or greater to update iTunes to 10.0 or greater.

Thanks.It's not officially supported, but you can try a couple of things - first open the application in the old version and see if it works.
If it doesn't you can try creating a new application in the old version and then use the create project from existing source option to map to your existing code.
This all of course assumes that you didn't use features in the new version that are not available in the old version.
