BIP options for very large output

Some reports we do are exceeding the size of Excel page (about 65,000 lines). Client asks us to put such reports into MS Acess table. Currently we do it by creating view in Oracle and then importing data from within Access using ODBC.
The closest we can do in BIP for this is to create CSV output, save it in a file, and then read the file from Access.
Now that BIP is so closely integrated with MS Office, offering so many output formats, iwouldn't it be natural and desirable to have MS Access as ouput option?
Sorry..wrong posting. Intended for BI Publisher forum

The functionality that used to be in Photoshop Album has been rolled into Photoshop Elements, and slightly more expensive package, but which features a whole lot more editing and sharing power. When you install Photoshop Elements, it will automatically import the data, including your tags and collections.
If you are hesitant to drop the $70 or so, and want to first ensure that the upgrade will work, you can download and install the tryout at no cost; if it works, then you can buy it after 30 days.
At the least, you should use the tryout, because it has a feature that will write all the tag info into the file (but alas, you collections would be discarded), and if you import the file into just about any other program, the keyword tags woudl be embedded in the files themselves; I'm actually not sure if that command is in Photoshop Album or not, but it's worth a looksee and a try anyway.
Good Luck!

  • Is it best to upload HD movies from a camcorder to iMovie or iPhoto.  iMovie gives the option for very large file sizes - presumably it is best to use this file size because the HD movie is then at its best quality?

Is it best to upload hd movie to iPhoto or iMovie?  iMovie seems to store the movie in much larger files - presumably this is preferable as a larger file is better quality?

Generally it is if you're comparing identical compressors & resolutions but there's something else happening here.  If you're worried about quality degrading; check the original file details on the camera (or card) either with Get Info or by opening in QuickTime and showing info. You should find the iPhoto version (reveal in a Finder) is a straight copy.  You can't really increase image quality of a movie (barring a few tricks) by increasing file size but Apple editing products create a more "scrub-able" intermediate file which is quite large.
    Good luck and happy editing.

How can we suggest a new DBA OCE certification for very large databases?
What web site, or what phone number can we call to suggest creating a VLDB OCE certification.
The largest databases that I have ever worked with barely over 1 Trillion Bytes.
Some people told me that the results of being a DBA totally change when you have a VERY LARGE DATABASE.
I could guess that maybe some of the following topics of how to configure might be on it,
    * Partitioning
    * parallel
    * bigger block size - DSS vs OLTP

  • Grid Control Architecture for Very Large Sites: New Article published

A new article on Grid Control was published recently:
Grid Control Architecture for Very Large Sites
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/havewala-gridcontrol.html

    Oliver,
Thanks for the comments. The article is based on practical experience. If one was to recommend a pool of 2 management servers for a large corporate with 1000 servers, what that would mean is that if 1 server was brought down for any maintenance reason (for eg. applying an EM patch), all the EM work load would be on the remaining management server. So it is better to have 3 management servers instead of 2 when the EM system is servicing so many targets. Otherwise, the DBAs would be a tad angry since only 1 remaining managment server would not be able to service them properly during the time of the maintainance fix on the first management server.
The article ends with these words: "You can easily manage hundreds or even *thousands* of targets with such an architecture. The large corporate which had deployed this project scaled easily up to managing 600 to 700 targets with a pool of just three management servers, and the future plan is to manage *2,000 or more* targets which is quite achievable." The 2000 or more is based on the same architecture of 3 managment servers.
So as per the best practice document, 2 management servers would be fine for 1000 servers, although I would still advise 3 servers in practice.
For your case of 200 servers, it depends on the level of monitoring you are planning to do, and the type of database managment activities that
will be done by the DBAs. For eg, if the Dbas are planning on creating standby databases now and then through Grid Control, running backups daily
via Grid Control, cloning databases in Grid Control, patching databases in Grid Control and so on, I would definitely advise a pool of 2 servers
in your case. 2 is always better than 1.

  • Setting resolution, deciding file type, for very LARGE Canvas prints. 36MP camera.

Okay, so I noticed my lightroom was on 240 PPI resolution. I changed it to 300 because I read 300 was for standard prints. What would I need to set the export to in the resolution box for a very large Canvas?
Is it better to choose Tiff instead of Jpeg for prints of this quality, if not then what should I choose?
I am using a Sony A7R full frame 36.4MP and with some of the sharp Zeiss lens there is really no pixelation that noticeable when I zoom in 100 percent. Of course the A7R is being said to be one of the best Sensors on the market today. It's supposed to be like the Nikon D800E, but apparently it has some advantages.
In other words, I want to export in as high of quality as possible for the Canvas. File size is not an issue.

Changing the resolution setting does absolutely nothing to the digital image. This is a common misconception. The only thing that counts in the digital image is the pixel dimensions. Regardless of what the PPI setting is (240, 300, 600, whatever) the image still has the same number of pixels. To determine what you need for a print of any size it is necessary to multiply the inches by the desired pixels per inch. Suppose you want a 16 x 20" print at 300 pixels per inch. The math would be something like this:
    300x16 = 4800 pixels
    300x20 = 6000 pixels
So to print a 16 x 20" print you would need an image that is 4800 x 6000 pixels. And the PPI setting can be anything you want it to be because it has no effect on the image.

  • Using SRM for very large contracts and contract management

We are doing an SRM 7.01 implementation project. SRM will be used primarily for outsourced contract management. The contracts are all services associated with facilitites (plant) maintenance and also support services like cleaning or catering.
They have very large numbers of items priced individually (e.g. 10,000) per contract. The items price depends on the location the work is expected to be performed. The location is represented in SAP RE-FX architectual object. The price can be priced at any level of the hierarchy e.g. service A is priced the same across the whole state but service B is priced per campus.
q1. SAP advises that there are performance limitations on SRM contracts >2000 lines. Has anyone experience in a solution to provide very large contracts in SRM? How did you do it please?
q2. SAP advises to use the plant to represent the location for pricing purposes, but this would result in a very large number of plants. Has any one experience in alternative solutions to for variable location pricing in SRM contracts please? I.e. like integrating the RE-FX architectural object or similar into contract and PO line items.
    thanks very much

    Hi Prakash,
SRM does provide the facility of contract management with the help of Purchase Contracts and Global Outline Agreements but it is used as part of the sourcing for materials and services. The materials or services have contracts against some given target value against which PO is released. The contract is based on a material number ( eithe material or a service) which will be used as a source of supply during the creation of the Shopping Cart. It might not really fit in the scenario of carrier and freight forwarders but still can be customized for this kind of use.
The contract management functionalities in the R/3 space can also be looked on for this purpose.

  • Now I understand the reason for very large screen monitors

I now understand why many people want to buy the new very large screen Macs. I have always loved my 17" flatscreen iMac G4 and since the picture itself is the same and the only thing that changes is the real estate around the picture, I always felt that getting a larger monitor would be an exercise in self-indulgence.
Well, now I see that all of the surrounding real estate would be very useful for putting folders, documents, pictures, etc on the screen and having them visible and accessible. For someone making a webpage, and I imagine also for making iMovies, which I will soon do for my website, a 19" or larger screen would be VERY helpful. But when a person buys a new computer, then all of that information has to be transferred....... and that is enough to make a person stick with the 17" monitor (that and the price of a 21").

Have you tried using Exposé to make that smaller
screen more expansive? You can drag from one window
to another with an Exposé transition in between.
While not a replacement for a larger screen, it does
    help when I need it.
Ken, I've had Tiger for about a week and the only things I've been working with are iWeb and iPhoto! Later I will explore Exposé. It sounds like they were trying to help us out and that's good.

  • Options for ABAP report output in Dashboard type presentation

    Background
Monash University environment is SAP ERP ECC6 - no BW. The University has undertaken considerable analysis of spend as part of developing a strategic approach to procurement. The data used to undertake this analysis was extracted from SAP MM and FI using a developed ABAP report which collates, categorizes and consolidates all spend information from MM (for our Purchase Order based commitment and expenditure) and FI (for direct invoices and Corporate Credit Card expenditure). This information is then currently exported to MS-Excel to produce a report containing graphs, pie charts etc.
    Requirement
To present output from our Spend Analysis Report in a more readable dashboard type presentation. This facility should allow easy manipulation (slice and dice) and drill down of the data.. Our requirement is to have something operating within a very short time-frame, say within a month or two. Although you might suggest Web Dynpro Business Graphic or SEM /BW (as the optimal solution) we understand the set up time for either of these solutions is prohibitive. Visual Composer has been suggested as another option but we have no in-house expertise to determine if this is a viable solution.
Some colleagues visited a conference a couple of weeks ago and saw a demonstration of a product call XenoCube http://www.inlogik.com/downloads/XenoCube_Brochure.pdf
which was proposed as a quick way to present SAP 'raw' report output in a more readable form. Other solutions in this space that have been suggested include:-
    Zycus - Actionable Spend Analysis – Zycus.com
    Emptoris Spend Analysis - emptoris.com
    ONIQUA Enterprise Analytics– oniqua.com.au
    Ariba Buyer – ariba.com
    SAS Spend Analysis – sas.com
    Etesius – SpendGuardian etesius.com
Can anyone provide advice as to their experience of SAP solution, integrated partner products or any of the about products to satisfy a similar requirement to that which I have outlined? The main selection criteria will include a product which is:
    a) quick & easy to implement,
    b) presentation and manipulation of ABAP extracted data
    c) is scalable and
    d) is reasonably priced.
Grateful for any advice regarding a solution .
    Thank-you

  • What are the options for creating editable output

We are using PeopleSoft XML Publisher. I need to create inventory reports that list assets and include columns for user input. Currently we generate them using an rtf template, a query data source and print them out in pdf format. Rather than print the reports and handwrite their comments and counts, the users would like to be able to enter them directly onto the reports.
The data fields need to be read-only and the user fields need to accept user input. I am under the impression that this may be possible if i use a PDF template. Is anyone doing something similar? Are there any other options?

I think that Predixion Insight is the easiest tool to use and is very powerful.
All you need to have is Windows OS, Office 2010 or 2013 and internet connection. If you want to look at what you need to do before installing Predixion, I recommend you to take a look at the walkthroughs at

  • Best options for decent quality output?

Hi all, I'm using a Canon HG10 shooting HD AVCHD. I am pretty pleased with the new archive facility as it's helping save space, and I'm debating whether to edit in 960x540 or 1920x1080.
The 1080 footage looks way better onscreen (to my eye at least) in the original AVCHD and the ingested AIC format. However I can't seem to get a really decent output stage.
Can anyone recommend share/export settings that will give me 1080 video in the 4-8gb/hr range that approaches the quality of the raw footage?
    Thanks in advance!

For good quality 1920x1080 video, you will need much higher data rates.
If you are burning BluRay, export using Quicktime in AIC, and drag the resulting file into TOAST version 9 or 10. If you want to play on a Sony PS3 or on your MAC, export using QuickTIme to h.264 format.
Here are some settings that work for me:
    1) export from iMovie using Share using Quicktime...
    2) select format MPEG-4
    3) select options:
    a) under file format select MP4 (not MP4 ISMA)
    b) under video tab select H.264
data rate in of 16000 to 18000 kbits/sec (Toast uses 16000 when burning to BluRay)
    image size---1920X1080HD
    frame rate---select 29.97 (I am NTSC)
key frame---select either automatic or every 24 frames
video options---select "MAIN" profile and single pass encoding
under audio tab select default AAC-LC
under streaming tab select default "not enabled"

  • Please help with TV and home theater system for very large basement room....

I'm looking to get my boyfriend either a TV or home theater system for the basement.  I know he eventually wants a 3d TV.  Right now he has a set up where he has 2 tv's so he can play video games and watch sports.
The basement that the tv and home theater system will be in is large (I'd estimate at least 15 ft x 30 ft...maybe more) so I want to make sure the home theater system will be enough for the room.  We live in a ranch so basically the basement is almost the size of the house with some of it being storage.
I've started to look at products online but there are so many and technology isn't really my thing.
If anyone could help with recommendations for the home theater system and/or the tv I'd appreciate it!
    Thanks so so sooo much!!!!

What will he be using the HT system for?  Just watching sports or skipping the movie theater and watching them at home.   If you plan to watch them at home your going to be on a tight budget with the home theater system but it is possible.   Spend good money on the sub, that is one speaker you don't want to skimp out on.  With such a big space you have a lot of room to fill and the cheap subs aren't going to cut it.   You will probably need two subs as it is.  The speakers I recommend on a tight budget Polk or Klipsch.  My list includes a Denon receiver as I am a Denon fan but Yamaha, Onkyo, or Pioneer will suffice.
Here is a Option 1 will run you about 1700 with just one sub. You could always go up a model on each speaker if you feel the one sub is enough.  I like an explosion sounding like it happened in front of me so that is why I mention 2 subs.

  • Best Practice for very large itunes and photo library..using Os X Server

    Ok setup....
one Imac, one new Macbook Pro, one Macbook, all on leopard. Wired and wireless, all airport extremes and express'
have purchased a mac mini plus a firewire 800 2TB Raid drive.
I have a 190GB ever increasing music library (I rip one to one no compression) and a 300gb photo library.
So..question Will it be easier to set up OS X Server on the mini and access my itunes library via that?
Is it easy to do so?
I only rip via the Imac, so the library is connected to that and shared to the laptops...how does one go about making the imac automatically connect to the music if i transfer all music to the server ?
The photo bit can wait depending on the answer to the music..
    many thanks
    Adrian

I have a much larger itunes collection (500gb/ 300k songs, a lot more photos, and several terabytes of movies). I share them out via a linux server. We use apple TV for music/video and the bottleneck appears to be the mac running itunes in the middle. I have all of the laptops (macbook pros) set up with their own "instance" of itunes that just references the files on the server. You can enable sharing on itunes itself, but with a library this size performance on things like loading cover art and browsing the library is not great. Please note also I haven't tried 8.x so there may be some performance enhancements that have improved things.
There is a lag on accessing music/video on the server of a second or so. I suspect that this is due to speed in the mac accessing the network shares, but it's not bad and you never know it once the music starts or the video starts. Some of this on the video front may be the codec settings I used to encode the video.
I suspect that as long as you are doing just music, this isn't going to be an issue for you with a mini. I also suspect that you don't need OSX server at all. You can just do a file share in OSX and give each machine a local itunes instance pointing back at the files on the server and have a good setup.

  • Best folder redirection options for a large environment

I am just curious to hear what the community recomends for large environments for user's files. Meaning, is desktop sync better than creating home directories and using offline sync? I am just trying to find the best way to have users able to access their
files on or off the network. As well as the best way of managing users files. Making it easy for them to save files and be able to access them at home. Maybe linking their desktop and My Documents folder to a share? I am open for all suggestions. Now to give
you an idea, this is a county public school enviroment. So you have to have something that will work with Staff, Teachers, Administration, and students. Also realize this is a huge environment with multiple schools. I look forward to your suggestions.
Also, all clients are Windows 7 and servers would be 2008 R2 for this scenario.

What I would do is use Folder Redirection in a GPO, using the advanced properties. Assign Teachers, Students and Staff different security groups in AD, and then in your GPO, assign the group members of "Teacher Security Group" a folder redirection of 'Create
a new folder for each user' at \\SVR-DATA\Users\Teachers. Then use a cache to keep the files offline. You will know if this works as you will see 'CSC-CACHE' under the Home drive when offline. Look below...
