Birthday calendar on iPhone

Is there a way to synchronize the Birthday Calendar with the iPhone? My other calendars all synchronize, but as that one is part of the contacts it does not. Contacts are synchronized with birthday information, but it does not put it into the calendar on the iPhone.

If you have a MobileMe account and you have Calendars on for over the air syncing, you can't sync direct with iCal via the iTunes sync process. You can do one or the other only, not both at the same time.
At the present time, syncing subscribed calendars over the air is not supported, and the iCal Birthdays calendar is a subscriber calendar. Syncing subscribed calendars will be supported beginning with firmware update 3.0 to be released this summer.
What I have done in the interim - I exported the subscribed Birthdays calendar from iCal followed by importing the exported calendar as a standard calendar. You can't have two iCal calendars with the same name, so I named the new calendar for the import - B-Days. This calendar is synced with the MM cloud which in turn becomes available on my iPhone. This calendar isn't updated when adding a birthday for an existing contact or for a new contact, but this is temporary until subscribed calendars are supported for over the air syncing with firmware update 3.0.

  • 5 Birthday Calendars on iPhone

    Hi,
I have been trying to figure this out for a while, but the birthday calendars on my phone just keep duplicating.  I am not up to five.  I know I can just untick them, but there should only be one and I would like to know why they just keep adding on.  Any help would be great.  Thanks!
    Jon-Paul

I am now on my 2nd Apple Tech Support phone call - with this same issue - Other - Birthdays calendars only appear twice - I don't have ANY entries for birthdays in my Contacts at all; am only using iCloud to sync calendars (which is working fine) - The first tech was worthless, told me I should just edit the Calendar and delete it - totally not understanding that it isn't editable.
So, I waited a few days and am now on hold for "2nd level support" - Will let you know if they come up with a solution that is easier than a total RESTORE as suggested later in this thread, as I also would have to spend 1/2 day rearranging hundreds of the apps I have.

  • Birthday calendar will not sync to iPhone

I have birthdays entered in Address Book on my Mac. I've enable show birthday calendar. Birthday calendar appears in the side bar as a subscribed calendar. The birthdates display in iCal on my Mac. Birthday calendar appears on my list of calendars on my phone but the birthdates will not display on the calendar. I've tried allowing MobileMe to sync and I've also turned off syncing calendars with MobileMe on the phone and tried syncing directly to the Mac. The birthdays used to display on the iPhone calendar but now they will not.
Does anyone know what I need to do to get birthdays to display on the iPhone calendar.
    Thanks.

  • Displaying iCal Birthday Calendar instead of iPhone's

OK, so iOS4 has got a new built-in birthday calendar which pulls the birthday details from my Contacts and displays them in the Calendar view. And I found out I can turn it off in Settings. So far so good. But now it seems I can no longer view my iCal calendar (or subscription as it is called) for 'Birthdays' like I used to be able to do?
Why would I want to do this? I have a large database of contacts in Address Book on my Mac, many of whom I don't ever phone and thus don't include on the Group that I sync with my iPhone, so I have an uncluttered contact list. But I do want the birthdays for my iCal people to appear on my iPhone's Calendar.
    Any suggestions please?

Dave, thanks for the suggestion. I was able to do a search as you suggested, highlight all the results, but when I tried to drag them... alas they won't drag.
Then I did another search in the Help topics of iCal to find how to do this. Lo and behold I found the topic "Moving all events and to-do items from one calendar to another"! Perfect. Followed those instructions, got all my birthdays imported into my newly created calendar, which I will now sync with my iPhone, and disable the iPhone's version. Hooray!

  • Birthdays missing from iPhone 4s calendar

All my birthdays are missing from my default iPhone 4s calendar, just disappeared? I had put them all into the HOTMAIL Birthday Calendar (read only)......I also don't know what 'read only' means?
I didn't put any of the birthdays into the 'other birthdays' calendars (the one with the blue gift box icon). All the calendars have been 'ticked' as 'showing' and not hidden.
I am a mega organised person and I completely love my iPhone but not if it is going to hide details from me!
    Any ideas anyone.....many thanks

I have the same problem - all of my birthdays have disappeared from my iphone 4s for no apparent reason. I have been going around in circles trying to find a solution on the Apple website, but it's cr*p!
I googled the problem and several people have had the same issue so clearly this is something Apple need to resolve.

  • I don't have iCal on my iPhone...how can I eliminate birthdays from my iPhone calendar?

The solution to getting rid of the birthdays on my iPhone calendar are to go to iCal, but there is no iCal on my iPhone.  Any other suggestions?  They are overrunning my calendar and I can't see appointments, etc.
    Thanks,
    B.

There are some countries where FaceTime is not included in the software of the phone, due to certain laws.
If you bought a phone in those countries, FaceTime can not be installed at all.
FaceTime may not be available in certain countries. Find more information about what's available in your device's region of purchase.
    copied from iOS: Using FaceTime
The only other reason for FaceTime not being on your phone would be if you have restrictions for FaceTime set up in Settings/General/Restrictions.
If an app is restricted, it can't be found on any of the screens on the phone. Disable the restrictions and the app will be back again.

  • Birthday calendar bizarre repetitions and other issues

I have the STRANGEST things happening with birthdays on both my iPhone (5, 32GB, white, iOS 6) and iPad (32GB, iOS 6, white).
I'm posting it here in the iPhone forum, assuming more people may be able to help.
First of all, I sync a Google Apps calendar with my iPhone and iPad via CalDAV. I also sync my Google Contacts with my address book (including birthdays), which syncs via my MacBook on OS 10.6.8 using the sync icon in the system tray. (I hesitate to call it MobileMe, even though that's what the System Preferences calls it, because it really has nothing to do with MobileMe -- it does not sync via MobileMe [I do not have an account], it just syncs my Address Book with Google with my phone or iPad when hooked up. It is through a WIRED connection that it does the final sync to the device.)
So, my birthdays from my address/contact books and my Google contacts DO sync and they DO show up on both my iOS devices in the fancy Birthday calendar with the cute cake symbol, as well as in my Google calendar.
    NOW HERE'S THE CRAZY PARTS.
Sometime recently, my birthdays were getting repeated. But oddly, enough they are a different amount on the two iOS devices. I have 18 copies of all birthdays (on the same day) in my iPhone calendar and 68 (YES, SIXTY-EIGHT COPIES) in my iPad of every birthday.
My Google calendar shows NO SUCH ERRONEOUS copies.
The crazier thing is that the copies of the birthdays are NOT on the birthday calendar. In fact, IT'S AS IF THEY JUMP AROUND ON DIFFERENT CALENDARS. They show up all one color, but some random color. They will appear or disappear only SOMETIMES if I turn "off" some calendars or others (for example, once they would go away if I hid a "Personal" calendar, another if I hid a calendar I subscribe to via Google but sync via CalDAV from Weather Underground, and another calendar that is a Google calendar but also my "default calendar" in the iOS settings). And this is all within minutes.
When I go into an instance of the repeated calendar event, it will actually say it belongs to my default calendar, regardless of what was hiding or showing it before.
When I try to "edit" the birthday just to see what happens, it crashes the app.
    WHAT. THE. ______???
    Here's what already I've tried:
Searching the internet for someone with a similar problem. NADA.
Turning off the option to sync my Google birthday calendar via the Google sync page (I think it's actually unnecessary anyway, since iOS pulls from the contact book, anyway). That did nothing.
Hiding all calendars and then selecting them to show one at a time to figure out which calendar was causing the problem, but as I mentioned above, it is not consistent.
    Re-syncing my devices with iTunes.
Searching for and merging duplicate contacts in Google contacts.
Turning off the iOS birthday calendar.
Killing and re-starting the calendar app.
    Re-starting my iOS devices.
Re-syncing my contact book with my devices.
Someone. Please. Tell me you're having this problem and that you have the solution? I'm going crazy over here! I can't remember anything that may have triggered this to happen.

I figured it out! (Or at least, it's been fixed for a day on both my iPad and iPhone.)
By the way, I discovered more oddities, but I'm not going to even bother with describing them.)
I am assuming everyone here has been syncing their birthday calendar off of Google/Gmail (whether CalDAV or Exchange, it doesn't matter).
The key to this is to know three things:
    A) Tgara was on to something: syncing the Google birthday calendar in your Google sync settings -- even though it does not show up in your calendar list on the iphone/ipad -- is the culprit.
    B) BUT, simply un-syncing will not make them go away unless you completely un-sync all your Google calendars. Once the repetitions get into your phone/iPad via they are kind of "stuck" there, and you've got to go back to the beginning to un-stick them for good.
    C) Thus, it may require some trial and error because I had to repeat this a couple times. I may no have the right order of operations, but this is my best recreation/guess.
How I fixed it (I had to repeat a couple times for some reason):
    1) I'm debating whether you have to do this step (I think I did it on my iPhone, but not my iPad, and yet both worked), but it doesn't take long, so you could just to be safe: on your iOS device, Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars -- delete your Google calendar account.
    2) On your iOS device, go to the proper Google sync page to choose what calendars are available for syncing.
    For Exchange, go to: https://m.google.com/sync/settings/iconfig/device
For CalDAV and Gmail/normal sync, go to: https://www.google.com/calendar/b/0/iphoneselect
For Google Apps CalDAV (although it worked for me on the normal page above), go to: https://www.google.com/calendar/hosted/yourhosteddomain.com/iphoneselect
If you're not sure which method you use, do both of them.
    3) Sign in and choose the device in question (if prompted) and then uncheck ALL the calendars. Save/apply.
    4) Go to calendar app. You should have an On my iPhone or On my iPad calendar and the iOS birthday calendar. Ensure that no repetitions are seen when you check mark each calendar idividually and also collectively to be visible. If there are, repeat the steps above.
    5) Once the repetitions are gone, go to your iOS settings and add the calendar account back in if you removed it in step one.
    6) Go back to the calendar app. Again, you will have two calendars -- one default Google calendar and one ios birthday calendar. Turn on each one at a time and also together to make sure the repetitions are gone. If they are not, repeat the above again.
    7) Once they are gone, go back to the Google sync page(s) and add all the calendars you want back, BUT DO NOT SELECT YOUR BIRTHDAY CALENDAR. Save/apply.
    8) Go to the calendar app. Open up the calendar list. Wait for it to refresh. Now you should be able to turn on all your calendars you wish to see, wait for it to propagate, and confirm there are no copies. If there are copies, repeat all the steps!
YOU DO NOT need to erase your contacts. Not sure about iGust's work-around, but that's unnecessary. And christina44, I actually think this is a different problem. All my copies were on the correct date.

  • Duplicate Birthday calendar entries in Notification Center

I have many contacts' birthdays saved with their contact info.  This created two calendars: one "Birthdays" calendar in iCal on my Mac, and one "Birthdays" calendar in my iPhone's Calendar app.  I want to keep each of these in their respective places.
    Here's my problem:
Both show up in Notification Center.  For example, my friend Bryan's birthday is tomorrow, and it shows twice in the Notification center (once, pulled from the iOS Calendar; the other, synced from iCal).
I've disabled the imported calendar from displaying in the Calendar app (so I only see iOS's "native" entry listed on my calendar).  But it still shows both in Notification Center!  Any ideas how I can get rid of the duplicate NC entry, without deleting the calendar itself from either source?

  • Mystery Birthday Calendar with OS4 Update

After I updated to OS4, I found that all my birthday entries appeared twice in my calendar views on the iPhone. Investigating further, I found that when I viewed all my calendars, I had two categories of calendars. First, I had "[email protected]" which correctly showed the three calendars that I sync over Mobile Me (including my birthday calendar, synced from iCal). Second, however, I had a second calendar category/group titled "Other" that showed one calendar "Birthdays."
I have unchecked this second Birthdays calendar to remove the duplicate entries from my calendar views, but I cannot figure out how to remove this "Other" calendar completely. This "Other" calendar group and the second "Birthdays" calendar appears neither on Mobile Me on the web or in my iCal.
    Suggestions?

The "Other" Birthdays calendar is a new feature and genertaes the birthdays using the data in your iPhone contacts. It's the same as the Birthdays calendar in iCal and Outlook.

  • Push and birthday calendar issues

I'm having trouble with push. As a somewhat separate issue, I'm also having trouble with birthdays from iCal to the iPhone, push or not.
I had no problem with birthdays transferring to my old iPhone.
Should I set up MobileMe as .mac or .me, since I have .mac?
All the settings in mail, contacts, and calendars on the iPhone are set to ON to push, and in iCal I have the birthday option on. The MobileMe Calendar does list the birthdays.
I can't get mail pushed to the iPhone, but my calendar events, except for birthdays, do seem to come across.
I saw a post last night on a different problem that suggested that Version 2.0 (5A345) had known issues, and to do a restore and get 5A347. I did that this morning and haven't noticed a difference.
I hope I'm making sense, I'm a little punchy after trying to figure this out.
I'm resending this post, as it was posted as a reply to another post this morning. No one responded, and that post is basically off the radar now. I apologize in advance.

Im having the same problem with iphone and birthday calendar. It shows on mobileme and ical but not the iphone. Please send a email to Apple at www.apple.com/feedback. I hope they resolve this issue too.

  • Birthday calendar - will not display a particular birthday

Both the iPhone Calendar and the MacBook's iCal create a "Birthday" calendar, based on entries in Contacts and/or Address Book (In iCal Preferences, "show birthday calendar" must be selected).
I have an entry in my contact list with a birthdate of September 4, 1932.
I cannot get that birthday to appear on my iPhone's Birthday Calendar. It does appear on the iCal Birthday calendar and - believe it or not, it even appears on the MobileMe Birthday Calendar. It just will not appear on the iPhone's Birthday Calendar.
That is the only entry I can't see on my iPhone's Birthday Calendar. I have also tried to create fictitious contacts with that birthdate and they do not appear either.
I am requesting any other user (or users) to create a Address Book entry with the same birthdate and report whether it will display on the iPhone's Birthday Calendar after a sync.
I am using the latest Mac, iTunes and iPhone software.
Thanks in advance to any users who respond.

    Hi Doug,
I have a calendar labeled "US Holidays Apple." It does accurately show the holidays on my iPhone and iCal. I am not sure about MM, since I have pretty much given up on that for awhile (too frustrating). I am not sure where i obtained the holiday calendar, but it seems more reliable, on the iPhone, than the Google linked holiday calendar I was using.
The specific birthdate cited is the only one that I can't get to sync. All the other birthdays and anniversaries appear to sync just fine (MM, iCal and iPhone). I suspect that it may be a bug, as suggested by another forum member (dates beyond certain [apple secret] date won't sync.
As an aside, regarding the thread you gave birth to, "...you are not alone), I have pretty much accepted that the iPhone is a POS phone (but a wonderful device). I suspect that is because they went with the low bidder for the radio component and WE got what they paid for. The only other alternative is that Apple designed or implemented the antennae poorly.
I live 1.72 miles from a 3G site and my dbm is typically -97 to -113 on 3G (week 41 build).
I am hoping the next iPhone will have a decent radio. I certainly will await reports from users prior to upgrading to the next version, since that is the only disappointing element of the device.
Your response was the first hint I had that 2.2 was on the near horizon. Glad to know that, though I do wish Apple would be more open about the changes offered in their updates.
    Great to hear from you.

  • Birthday calendar problem

There is one birthday that I can't get into my iPad's / iPhone's Calendar.app, although it appears on my Mac.
I have already deleted the birthday entry in my Address Book, re-created it: no difference. Weird.
The Birthday calendar is activated and both My Mac's and MobileMe calendars are all activated, of course, as all other birthdays show up correctly on all devices.
Thanks a lot for a good idea!

Have you manually performed a sync with MobileMe on your Mac? I've found that sometimes entries I make on my iMac aren't immediately synced to MobileMe even though I have it set to sync automatically to my iDevices and at other times they are. I haven't found a pattern yet, but whenever they fail to move to MobileMe from my iMac I perform a manual sync and they appear.

  • Birthday Calendar and Other Subscriptions Sync Problems

Is there a way for the Birthday calendar (when turned on in the prefs) to be synced to iCal on my iPod Touch?
I've also noticed that my Holiday calendar subscription doesn't sync. Is it that the iPod Touch doesn't sync subscription calendar?
Perhaps this belongs in the iPod Touch discussions.

    1) publish the birthdays calendar from iCal, then
    2) send a publish email to your own email address (one the iPhone checks)
    3) click the link in the email on the phone. It should open iCal on the phone and download the calendar.
You can confirm by going to the calendars main screen. It should have two subcategories now, “Mac.com (MobileMe)” and “Subscribed”.
