Bitlocker requests recovery key every time

I have a T440s. The motherboard died and was replaced by Lenovo. I had Bitlocker drive encryption enabled. Now, ever time I reboot, I am required to enter the Bitlocker Recovery Key. I can't figure out how to fix this so I don't have to type it every time!
I've tried, to no avail:
1) In BitLocker Manager, I clicked on  "Suspend Protection" and then  "Resume Protection". When I reboot, I get prompted for recovery key again.
2) In BitLocker Manager, I clicked on  "Suspend Protection", rebooted and wasn't asked for the Recovery Key. But, on subsequent reboots, I am asked for recovery key. I read that Protection is automatically enabled (after Suspend) on next boot.
3) Ran this commands at elevated command prompt:
Manage-bde -protectors -delete C: -type TPM
and I get this error msg:
Volume C: []
Key Protectors of Type TPM
ERROR: No key protectors found.
I've googled quite a bit and can't figure out what else try, short of decrypting the drive and reencrypting it.
Thank you!

I have Win 8.1.  Yeah, I checked via tpm.msc and it looks like TPM is activated:
Status: "The TPM is ready for use."
And under TPM Manufacturer Info, it says Manf Name: TPM, Manf Version: 13.12, Specification Version: 1.2.
And in the Actions on right pane, "Prepare the TPM" is greyed out. And these actions are available: Turn TPM Off, Change Owner Password, Clear TPM, and Reset TPM Lockout.
I've been wondering about turning TPM off and on. Would that screw things up?

  • Need to enter WPA key every time i re-connect?

I have a small network of one wired PC, one wireless PC and a wireless laptop. I messed something up while trying to add our new itouch to the network and now, the laptop is asking for the WPA key every time it re-connects. As of right now, the wired PC is also the only one getting on the internet. We are using the WRT54G v.4, running windows XP on all three computers and i'm about to throw them all out the window. Please help. By the way, the laptop has a different IP address then the other computers...is this a problem too? Thanks in advance.

All the computers on your network should have different IP addresses, but they should all be on the same subnet 192.168.1.x .  If your computer fails to connect, it may show a 169.254.xxx.xxx address.  This address simply means you failed to connect.  It comes from Windows, not the router.
First, in the router, give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router. Also set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
Also, in the non-working computers, temporarily turn off the software firewall, including Windows Firewall, and see if that helps you make a connection.
To fix the recurrent WPA key entry problem:
In the computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed. Delete any network named "linksys".  Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use.  Delete your current network (this will clear any old settings).  Reboot computer.  Return to "Preferred Networks" and re-enter your current network info (SSID, encryption (if any), and key (if any) ). Then select your current network and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings".  Reboot computer.  Your computer should connect automatically to your router.  If you still have trouble, make sure your computer's software firewall is off.
If the above does not fix your problem, download and install the latest driver for your wireless card.
Also, please note that WPA = "WPA with TKIP", and WPA2 = "WPA with AES".
If you are using WPA2, then note that Windows XP requires a patch to run WPA2. Go to Microsoft Knowledge base, article ID=917021 and it will direct you to the patch.
Sadly, the patch is not part of the automatic Windows XP updates, so lots of people are missing the patch.
If you need more help, please state the computer software firewall that you are using.

My Iphone has gone in to recovery mode every time I try to recover it states a message "The iphone "iphone' could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (2001)

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694#error2001
    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service.

Hi, to get your iPhone  4 back to normal, here're two ways for you.
    1.  Use Dr.Fone for iOS. The free trial version can fix iPhone screen of death. The free trial version can do that, you don't have to pay.
Just download and install this software on your computer and connect your iPhone 4 to computer with a USB cable. When it detects your iPhone 4 is abnormal, click Restart the device to get your iPhone 4 to be normal.
    2. Use iTunes to fix it.
Step 1. Make sure that the latest iTunes is installed on your computer.
Step 2. Plug into a USB cable to connect your iPhone4 to computer.
Step 3. Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time for about 10s.
Step 4. 10 seconds later, release the sleep/wake button. But continue to hold the home button until a message comes out, saying "iTunes has discovered an iPhone 4 in recovery mode, you must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes".
Step 5. Click your iPhone 4 in the left sidebar to show the device control panel on the right. Then, click Summary.
Step 6. Go to Backups section and click Restore Backup.... In the drop-down list, choose a backup file and restore to your iPhone 4

  • Bitlocker no recovery key, no access to computer.

During some standard automatic updating, bitlocker became active ( I dont know how ).
When I tried to log-on next time I was asked for the "Windows Bitlocker Drive Encryption Recovery Key", I don't have it.
Is there a way to access the laptop. I can prove it is mine and have all the required No's for the machine and the windows-7 OS.

  • Ipod goes into recovery mode every time I plug it in

Just bought a new iPod classic, 160gb. I plugged it in for the first time to sync it with my laptop and get some music on it. The next time I plugged it in, iTunes gave me an error message saying it couldn't read the contents of my iPod, and that it detected an iPod in recovery mode. I had to restore it just to put 5 new songs on it, which took almost 45 minutes. Since then, I've updated the iTunes and iPod software but this is still happening every time I plug it in to my computer.
Are other people having this problem? Is it hardware or software?

Pretty much anyone using an iPod Classic with iTunes 9 or 901 is screwed in a similar manner. Read around these threads and you'll see man. Sorry, no word from Apple yet on what's going on.
Looks like their ''upgrade" to version 9 may actually be damaging hardware, as hard as that seems to believe.

  • When i return home after work my ipad2 requests wifi password every time

why my ipad2 requests password every time to connect to my home router. my iphone recognizes it automatically??.

Try forgetting the wifi network. Touch the little blue arrow next to your wifi network and choose forget.
Reset your router. After you've reset etc, try connecting to it again with your iPhone.

  • IPad goes into recovery mode every time I power up

Is this normal?  What could be wrong?

It is by no means normal. When you say that it goes into recovery mode, do you mean that you have to restore the iPad every time that you turn it on?

  • BitLocker requests Recovery Password at every boot.

    Hi all,
For some reason after running a command to test Bitlocker recovery I need to enter the Recovery password everytime I start the computer.
I am successfully backing up the Bitlocker recovery password and TPM key to Active Directory so I am able to sucessfully enter any passwords required.
I have tried Clearing the TPM, Resetting the TPM and changing the owner password but nothing seems to stop me needing to enter the Bitlocker Recovery password everything I restart the computer.
    Im at a loss!!
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    Thanks for the post!
What command did you run result in this problem?
I recommend you try to unlock the BitLocker and re-lock it. Refer to
How do I use the Unlock options in Bitlocker Drive Encryption.
    Hope it helps!

  • IPhone goes into recovery mode every time it dies?

If my phone battery dies it immediately is in recovery mode and I have to wipe the phone to get it back to factory settings. Can i fix this??? It is very annoying and sometimes my phones dies when I have 30-40% battery still so I am not sure if I can even prevent this from happening.

    Hello emmahardman,
It sounds like your phone needs to be restored because it goes into Recovery Mode when the battery runs out, and it sometimes turns off when there appears to be plenty of charge left. Assuming you are restoring from a backup when this happens, I would next time set it up as a new device and test to see if it happens again. If so, reset the phone with the following process and test it again:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
If the issue still keeps happening, I would next seek service for the iPhone:
iPhone Repair and Service - Apple Support
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

  • HT201210 Iphone 4 goes into recovery mode every time the battery runs out?

Iphone keeps returning to recovery mode when the battery runs out and is charged up again. I have updated the software and it still requires a system restore everytime the battery dies, does anyone have an information to help resolve this issue?

That's what I did. When selected restore, it downloaded and verified the installer, and then threw the error that the phone is in recovery mode instead of proceeding with the restore. I then tell it a second time to restore and it proceeds to restore; but I never get the message that the 4 has successfully unlocked.

  • Send Request to servlet every time with the back button

    Hi,
We are designing a web site in which all the pages are dynamic depending on what he does with his ordering system. Problem is when the uers request a change to the orders (eg deletes) the page is generated again. But the user can use the back button to see the deleted order.
Question. Is there any way to send a request to the server everytime the back button is pressed.
I have already added this to the top of my generated pages.
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control","no-cache"); // HTTP 1.1
    response.setHeader("Pragma","no-cache"); //HTTP 1.0
    response.setHeader("Expires" , "0");
I tried both the POST and GET request too.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

This is an issue of never ending discussions. If you did a search for similar topics in this forum, you'd encounter various opinions including examples of suggested solutions.
You can also see various real life behaviors on various real web sites.
Personally, I don't want to put too much effort in disabling the back button. The back button is a mere display of the previous page and not the state of the application. As a user I like websites which do not mess with the browsers back button and let me see what I did on the previous page.
If the user tries to do something with this deleted order, you should be able to track that and display a suitable error message.
BTW, those headers do not have any effect on browsers back button. They merely control caching of pages.

  • Internet recovery fails every time

I tried to reinstall mountain lion on my recently purchased MacBook Air 2013 model, I erased the SSD to install the OS onto and when the computer was rebooted it went into Internet recovery which downloads just to above half way but then fails with this error: http://i.imgur.com/QvLUjZB.jpg
Is there anything I can do? I don't want to of broken my MacBook so soon and I don't live even close to an apple store for them to take a look and it being my first and only mac, I'm not too mac savvy.
I have a PC too which can be used to create a bootable USB or something of the like if possible.

You may need to buy 2 things, an ethernet adaptor for the Air and a cable, the other choice is where you are now.
But wait till it fails or finishes, it may take longer than you expect.

  • Keychain requests a password every time I open Safari or Mail???

So... it is as it states..
Whenever I turn on my computer and start Safari or Mail, I get this message:
"Safari want to use the "login" keychain."
    Password:
...not a prob, i know the password.... but WHY????? Stop!!!
Under the Details menu, it says:
    Keychain: login.keychain
    Application: Safari
    Samething happens in mail...
Anyone know how to resolve this issue?
    Cheers

OK... not sure if this will help your situation or not but it did fix the problem on my end. Go to the applications folder and RIGHT click on Safari. Choose "Get Info" from the contextual menu. Under the "Sharing and Permissions" item look for your user name. In my case it was not there only system, admin, and everyone. Really not important that your user name is there but it helps to fix the problem as you will see... click the plus sign and then add your user name to the list with read & write permissions, then click the red button at the top of the window.
Now go to Keychain Access and open it, select the menu item "Keychain Access" and scroll down to "Keychain First Aid". In the window that comes up select repair instead of verify and enter your password. It should come back with everything repaired. Close the program.
Next, open Disk Utility, select your system volume and repair permissions. When it finishes you will probably notice an item in the repair log that states "ACL found but not expected on Applications/Safari.app". Close the program.
Open Safari. You should not receive a login to keychain now. Everything should finally be back to normal.
    Hope this helps!
