Black display when opening iBookG4 after sleep

Occasionally the display will remain black when opening from closed while sleeping. After some repeats it kicks in again.
Could it (after 5 years) be a failure of the switch that is activated by opening?

Yes, actually it's a reed switch that's activated by a magnet when you close the display. They can actually break or get flaky and the display will do what you describe.
You might try resetting the PMU since it controls sleep:

Otherwise you could disconnect the reed switch. In this model it's under the main deck to the right of the keyboard.
It connects to a socket just foreword and right of the RAM slot so you might be able to disconnect it through the RAM access port. It has a red and black wire.
Be careful doing this as it's easy to damage the board.

Yes TeeKnows, try deleting it and download it again. After finished installation if still shows black screen delete it out off 'running apps' by double tapping the home button and swipe it off. If still shows black screen then try fully turning off your iPad (holding the sleep button) and turn back on again.

Since the time i Have updated the firmware screen doesnt gets blacked out, when on call after the new update. Because of this option automatically get selected by getting touched cheecks.

Hi all,
I am not sure if this is a common problem with the 8200's but after only one month of usage, the flip hinge does not turn ON the internal display when opened ( you have to play with the cover so that screen pops up ).
Any ideas as now i have to bring in for repair and it's very frustrating for a new phone.

$35 just to evaluate! I've never heard of that! I'd press them a bit about that -- after, of course, you review your contract with them concerning warranty support for you...
Can't say about a problem with the flip -- though inherently, as a mechanical connection, it would naturally be prone to wear and tear as well as stressing beyond it's design limits (whatever those are).

Feh showing black images when opening certain .bmp files

Hi all,
I've been using feh (I'm using imagemagick too) from quite a bit and today I noticed it shows plain black images when opening certain .bmp files, those files are obtained from a Java WebService and they may not be correcty formed, still firefox can correctly visualize them. Would it be possible to make feh correctly display them ?

I've set Photoshop to ask me if there's a conflict with embedded color schemes but it doesn't ask when opening this file. So I presume it doesn't use any specific profile. (Can I check this directly somehow?)
EDIT: I've now set to ask if there is no profile embedded and Photoshop now says that the image has no embedded RGB profile.
My color profile within Photoshop is set to sRGB which is the default for my display.
When I try switching to other RGB profiles in the list, the colors change but the distortions are still there no matter which profile I choose.

Black screen when opening in .pdf

I'm having problems with opening the C5-project in .pdf. Some people get a black screen when opening the .pdf file (version 9 or higher), most of the time it goes well, but 1 out of 10 times it doesn't work. I have know idea what could be the cause of the black screen (use of laptop?).
Now it is impossible to send this project to our stakeholders, because I don't know whether it works or not.
Does anyone recognize this and knows why this happens, and how to solve this?

There was a recent patch released by Adobe for Captivate 5 that addressed a similar black screen issue in Captivate SWFs.

I am far from being the best person to give advice, I would
steer clear of
javascript menus for a start - they don't work with
javascript turned off.
There are many good ones recommended here,

Start with a clean page and investigate Server Side Includes
with a good
menu (see many recommendations here) or, as you suggest (you
don't have many
pages), a template.
Make sure you save the template File > Save As Template.

SITUATION
The offline documents (by using Park N Go) open fine in Excel, though, when these documents are opened after logging on to BPC, cells display #VALUE! instead. This gives my users a hard time opening distributed reports when they are in BPC session

Macro IS enabled when opening these offline documents
We are on Office 2007 and BPC 5.1 & BPC 7.0. This particular issue occurs to both versions of BPC

Hi Brian,
I can suggest you 2 things.
1. Before doing the offline distribution, go to the template, go to workbook options and select the boxes for expansion and refreshing workbook, when opened / when CV is changed. Save this template and then do the "park n go".
2. When the saved offline file is opened, this time you should not get #VALUE. If you still get the same values, then go to "park n go" and click on "set to live data and live current view".

N97 black screen when opening keyboard

Hello everybody,
We I open the keyboard of my n97, the screen turns black. Normally it would turn the screen 90degrees, but now it stays black. When I push the red button a couple of times, it usually will work again, but only after 10 to 30 seconds.
I haven't done a hard reset yet, because I hope someone has got the same problem and could solve it easier.

Sorry I cant help but want to share the same frustuation. It happened the same to me. i brough it back to the phone shop where i bought it and the technician said that it a problem of N97 which can only hope to be fixed in the new update (hardware or software I dont know)

Black Screen when opening MacBook

Not all the time but a lot more often recently when I open my MacBook up it'll show like I never closed it and then goes to the login screen and then a black screen. After that it takes at least 5 minutes to turn on. Help.

Try reseting your prram.
1. Power off your MacBook.
2. Wait a couple of minutes (2-3).
3. Hold down Command(apple), Option, P, R and the power button.
4. WHen you hear the chime keep holding them but let go of the power button.
5. The screen will go black then will chime again after awhile.
6. Let go and wait for it to start up.
This may help, im not 100% sure but this has happened to me before.
Maybe not the same thing but a somewhat simular problem.

Hi,
This issue started after 1 week. When opening the camera the screen is Black. Seems like it tried to focus and all settings are available, but no picture. Turning it to the front camera works fine and here i get a wonderful picture of myself
I have deleted all settings in the camera App, reset the entire device.... No go. Same issue.
Some one have any suggestions?

Black screen when opening MJPG video in AE

Im getting a black screen when i open an avi video (mjpg codec) in after effects.
Video works fine in programs like windows media player and VLC
Also other videos work fine in AE, like H264 and FPS1 codecs (dunno what FPS1 is but i have a video and it says FPS1 is codec and it works)
oh yeah and im using AE CS5.5

Read my post again - AE doesn't handle DirectDraw CoDecs that require DirectX based hardware acceleration. And playclaw is one such CoDec. Whether or not it plays elsewhere is utterly irrelevant at this point. You need to convert it to something AE can use, that is a bog standard legacy AVI that uses the old GDI mode, or at least provides a playback component for that. Anything from an uncompressed AVI file to HuffYUV to an image sequence or even a Quicktime movie, just not what you have currently.

Ipod camera black screen when opened and sync prob HELP!!!

hello i just went to open the camera on my ipod touch 4g and it just went black just a black screen when i press the home button it goes straight to the home screen everything else is fine i just open the camera and a black screen appears, it is working fine now but just wondering if it is faulty or somthing.
some times it does not sync i will plug it into the computes usb port and it wont charge i takes about 3 to 6 tries to get it to work any help thanks

Same thing just happened to me, found another solution though.
Plug the USB cable into your PC/base of iPod Touch.
Turn off the iPod completely.
Wait 10 seconds and re-power the iPod.
Now load up the camera; and the screen should be back to normal.
I have similar screen freeze issue with my Sony Erricson K700i Mobile phone, and plugging in the 'power' cable always resolves it, so it would seem to be of the same method used to resolve this iPod issue!!
Strange thing as you've posted, all other apps etc still work. Maybe support will get around to resolving this bug!!
