Black & White Printing

How can I print in B&W from MacOS Preview.app (it's a .pdf file) and my color cartridges are empty.
Thanks

Yeah, I'm not very happy about it either. You would think that it would still let you print in black and white but it wants to see all of the ink there.

Please suggest how to modify printer settings so that a pdf file prints only black&white even though the printer attached could be a colour printer.
I have checked printer setup->properties->advanced button in acrobat reader, but could not find option to make the print black & white only.

  • How do i access advanced black & white print mode with CS6 using OS 10.8

We are using CS6 at our printmaking facility and recently upgraded our workstation to Mac OS 10.8.5. Now we are not able to access the advanced black & white print mode anymore when printing gray scale images. Is anyone else having this problem and what is the work-around? Thanks, David

    Probably Epson's ABW,
    EPSON Advanced Black & White
which can easily be replaced by a custom profile with very strong
Gray Component Replacement (GCR). That means: a B/W image
is printed by all inks, but the gray inks are dominating.

  • Black/white printer as default on colorprinter

How can set my printer - Samsung C 460 to print black/white as default - and only print in color, when I want i to do that?
Samsungs says they don't know how. The tell me to ask Apple.
The printer is WiFi. My Mac runs with Lion.
    Ove Steen Smidt, Denmark

When you print something, you get the initial print page.  You will see several double arror to the right of the top two buttons.  Click on the double arrows look and see if there is anything about black & white printing.  Look through each of the options.
The options are jointly  done by Apple and samsong.  Printer manufactures implement these functions.  Samsung should know what is done.

  • Why does black/white print with magenta hue?

When I print black/white greyscale in Adobe Reader or Acrobat, some documents print with ghost text that appears in a light magenta.  This ghost text is staggered to the bottom right of the black text.
I'm printing from Mac OS X 10.8.4, Adobe Reader 11.0.03 using an HP LaserJet 1525nw.
The left side of the image is a screen capture from the PDF and printed.  The right side printed directly from the PDF.
    Any ideas why this happens?

Sorry - I was able to find out how to do color calibrate.  It is supposed to print a page but never did.  I tried it twice.  Not sure if it actually did anything.  But results are the same with printing.
The printer is very low on the three color cartridges, which I don't use.  It is at normal capacity on black.  Even though I'm selecting to print only black/white in Reader, could the low status on the color cartridges be causes this pink hue?
I did try a pure PDF document (one that isn't a scanned print page).  It printed without issue.  As I mentioned above, there is something about a scanned in printed page, which causes this pink hue issue.

  • Black & White printing using Acroread and Pasta

    Hi,
We have Acroread at the Unix server end and the printer is configured to "--PASTA Universal Printer Type".
Presently we are able to print the PDF output of the BI Publisher reports generated by Oracle concurrent programs but those are coming in Color mode.
Can anyone please advice how to get the output in the printer in Black and White mode.
    Thanks,
    Pranit.

I have a new Canon printer and find it is swallowing up the small black ink and not using the large black ink container. I tried printing in gray scale, but that also seems to use up the small black ink container. What settings should I use. e.g. Color Sync (Quartz filter, black and white or None???), Quality and Media (gray scale???), color options (color correction, None????) and any other thoughts???
    Thanks.

  • Black & White Printing MAC

    Hi,
I can not get my printer to print only in greyscale or black and white. Can you please help me with this? I have almost no need to print color ever.  Thanks!

    Hi,
Follow the steps below in order to print using Black Ink only:
    1. From the application used to print, click the File menu and select Print. The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized: Click the Show Details button to see all available settings.
    2. To access the color options, click the lowest selection box listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.
    3. Select Paper Type/Quality from the drop-down menu.
    4. Click the triangle next to Color Options to expend the settings.
    5. Set the Color field as Grayscale.
    6. Set the Grayscale Mode as Black Ink Cartridge Only.
You may save the settings for future use by clicking Presets > Save Current Settings as Preset...

  • Error black & white printing

    Hi,
We have a networked printer which is set to default to black and white. This works in all applications except Acrobat 8 or 9. When a user prints using Acrobat the print comes out color, even when we ensure the black and white radio button is checked.
How do we get Acrobat to not override the selected settings and print all pdf's in black and white?
    Thanks in advance,
    Lottar

PDF documents that I create using Corel Draw X3 do not appear in the correct colors as a pdf in version 9. This has caused a big problem when I create artwork to send to a printing plant as a pdf file. Strangely, once I downloaded and installed Foxit Reader I am able to see the pdf files as they are supposed to appear. I didn't seem to have this problem with Adobe Reader v 7. Anybody else having similar problems?

  • Printing Black & White Prints

I will tell my problem first and then some background.
When I attempt to print mono prints on my Epson R1800 using the "black" output opion on the print dialog I cannot get a true mono image and the full tonal range replicated. Often I have too much at the black end of the scale which gives my photos a "dark" appearance. If I use the "color" option I can achieve the tonal range but a true mono image doesn't result as a greenish cast is often introduced as the black is arrived at using the colour inks.
I have used the following combinations in both LR and PS; Epson provided ICC profiles, bespoke calibrated ICC profiles (which have the best results for my colour images) & printer controls (adjusting brightness/contrast/gamma).
I have tried so many combinations that I have almost lost track with some interesting results, none that are close to what I have on screen though. The most obvious route is to use my bespoke ICC and simply switch to black on the printer driver but this has the worst result of all!
Any help would be greatly appreciated before I have to take shares in Epson ink! LOL

Thanks Paul. I greatly appreciate the pointers and will go looking.
I appreciate that my questions is to an extent a "workflow" issue however my weapons of choice are LR and PS and I believe that it is the (correct) use of these that will solve my problems so see my question as being valid here.
I have chosen my tools because they have a wide user base and hope that someone here may have already got to grips with these issues and found a way to correct the issue. My question still remains for anyone here that can help; how do I control the tonal range if printing using "black" in the printer setting or the colour casts if using "color"?
    Thanks again.
    Gary.

  • 7520e: black and white prints have blue cast

Black & white prints have a blue tinge to them and are not true black and white.
Is there a good explanation of what all the various controls do, in the Print dialogue boxes?
    Thanks.

    Hi @organgrinder,
    Your print Dialog box sometimes varies depending on which program you are printing from, but, I found some potentially helpful information about advanced color management;
Using the default sRGB modeThe default sRGB color space is the most common setting for print jobs. As mentioned, most images are sRGB, and using sRGB delivers automatic high-quality color without user intervention. When sRGB is selected, the driver controls the color management. Color management should not be attempted with ICC profiles while the driver is set to sRGB mode. Doing so will usually result in lower color fidelity.
    Using the AdobeRGB mode
The AdobeRGB Color Space mode is designed to provide compatibility with emerging camera functionality. This mode can be used for printing photos from digital cameras that support the Adobe RGB color space. For example, if a camera is set to Adobe RGB while capturing photos, those photos can be printed from any application by using this color space selection. For print jobs that involve significant editing or graphics composition in the Adobe RGB color space, ICC color management may give better results. Color management should not be attempted with ICC profiles while the driver is set to AdobeRGB mode. Doing so will usually result in lower color fidelity.
Using the ICM color management mode
ICM color management should be selected for the following reasons:Creating ICC profiles to manage printer color
When using an application such as Adobe Photoshop, which supports the selection and use of ICC profiles.
From the perspective of the printer driver, the ICM Color Management selection does one simple thing: it turns off printer color management. If this option is selected from an application that does not allow for the use of ICC profiles, or if no profile is selected for the printer, the resulting prints will be dark, vivid, unmatched printer colors. By disabling printer color management, the high-end user has complete, control over the color matching process via the application.

  • How do I print in black & white from my iPad?

I am using an iPad 2 with iOS 5.1.1 and an HP Workforce 545 printer with airprint. I can print successfully but am not able to choose black and white printing. Everything prints in color. When I choose Print the print dialogue box only gives option of number of copies, no other options. Any suggestions? Thatnks

    Hi Judsi2011,
    Thank you for the update.
The iPad and the ePrint app are not like a computer, when you want to print from the app, it is recommended that you check the settings before printing to ensure that the print options reflect your wishes. The option for the black and white is available for the browser within the ePrint app and for emails that you are printing from within the app.
    I hope this helps.

  • How can I print in black/white only a document that has colors in the original?

How can I print in black/white only a document that has colors in its original. I don't need the print out to be in color, and I don't want to waste the color ink.

It depends on your printer and the application you are using.
In some applications you can choose color vs. greyscale/black&white when you do File > Print.   PowerPoint is one example of an application that allows this choice.
Otherwise, you can usually select greyscale at the time you print the document.  Do File > Print. In the resulting dialog box, there should be an item called Copies & Pages (in Word and other applications) or Preview (in Preview).  Click it.  In the resulting list, you should then see an option called Printer Features.  Click it.  Then you should see an option called Printout Mode.  Usually one of the modes is Greyscale or Black & White.  Select it.  Then Print.
This can also depend on your printer.  Exactly what make/model printer are you using?   And what kind of document are you trying to print (Word, PPT, JPEG, etc)?

  • Black and white printing

This seems like a simple question but I'm learning. I've searched this topic in the archives but I don't seem to find the options discussed in Print Dialogue. I'm trying to print greyscale using Bean as my writing tool but when I have the document open I don't see a black & white option. I've looked in Color options too. One post talks about the 'paper type/quality' pull down but I don't see anything like that either. I need this in newbiespeak, please. Thanks

Under the paper type and quality setting, look for "color" near the bottom and expand that option.  In the drop down should be greyscale.
