Removing Blackberry battery

Solved!
Go to Solution.

I finally resolved this myself by editing the registry and removing all references to Sprint and Roxio.  I then reinstalled the Blackberry desktop software v 4.7, rebooted and installed Sprint SmartView.  It now works.  The key for me was editing the registry to remove previously installed versons of the software.

  • Blackberry desktop manager wont detect blackberry

i have looked everywhere for a solution to my problem and i simply cannot find a fix. my blackberry curve 8520 wont connect to my desktop manager. i have tried everything i could think of however nothing has proven successful.
here is what i have so far done:
    -reinstalled desktop manager
-installed latest update for desktop manager
    -installed drivers for blackberry
    -checked usb cable and ports
-made sure desktop manager was set to usb
-pulled the battery on the blackberry (power cycled)
    -restarted my computer
i believe this is everythign i have currently tried, i am running 64x ultimate windows 7 and my computer does recognise that a blackberry is put in as everytime i do so a ballon at the bottom om my screen says a blackberry has been detected and gives it a drive name and such. it is also charging which ensures enough power is being delievered to the blackberry. i do not have another computer to try the desktop manager on. if anyone has a fix to this issue please respond asap as help would be very much appreciated.

  • Blackberry Desktop 4.5 "disconnected" and no PIN apparent

I'm running Windows Vista, so had to download and install BBDesktop 4.5 rather than use CD that came with phone.  Sorting that out has taken several days .... but at last I have BBDesktop sitting on my desktop.
It opens, but the status field says Disconnected - Blackberry Desktop Manager, and Device Connected (PIN): None.
This happens whichever USB port I use, and whether I have the phone plugged in or not plugged in when I open the desktop software.
I do have Roxio Creator (since I've read elsewhere Roxio programmes can be a problem) but I need it.  When installing the BB Desktop, messages were coming through that Windows was reconfiguring Roxio software.
    Any ideas?

  • Error when updating Playbook OS version via Blackberry Desktop Manager

    Greeting,
I have a batch of old playbooks which having the stack charging issue, but I found that I can update the OS to the newest version (2.1.0.1917) via Blackberry Desktop Manager, then the charging algorithm will be changed to the updated one and go over this dead battery issue. I was able to do so successfully in the past week smoothly on several devices.
But since this Monday, the Desktop Manager is saying "An updated Blackberry Desktop Software component must be installed before you can continue" when downloading the Desktop software and will appear "There was an error updating your software, an error has occurred while downloading the Blackberry Desktop Software. Please try again." and preventing the process. Seems there are some change on the server side starting this week which has caused this problem, but there's no error code to locate the exact issue.
I tried on 2 different computers as well as completed uninstalling and re-installing the Desktop manager, also tried to disable the automatic update as been advised in some threads. So no clue how to deal with it for now. It will be highly appreciate if some one can share some idea.
I've attached the step by step screenshots for reference, where you can find here:

Can you advise where I can find info on "disable the automatic update"?
just ignore the update if you dont want it on the playbook
    for reloading the OS
First I would like you to do a Back Up of your PlayBook using your computer and BlackBerry Desktop Software.
This can be downloaded for free from http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
After the Back Up is complete I need you to unplug your PlayBook and then push and hold down the Power Button until the unit Force Powers Off.
Now, while Desktop Software is still open on your computer and the PlayBook Powered Off, Connect the PlayBook to your computer.
You should see and error screen from Desktop Software pop up that has the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.
    QUICKLY choose the Update option.
This will erase all the information off of your PlayBook and Re-Write the Software back onto it. Once it's complete your PlayBook will need to go back through the setup wizard, and you can then perform a restore using Desktop Software to return your information. The only thing that won't come back after the restore are the apps that you downloaded from App World but they can be easily Re-Installed using the My World feature in App World.

  • BlackBerry Desktop Manager on Mac OS 10.4.11

    Hi all,
I'm installing BlackBerry Desktop Manager for my MacBook (OS 10.4.11). However, the software requires at least 10.5.5 and I tried installing it with no success. It says it "requires OS 10.5". Does it mean I have to install 10.5.1 first and then install 10.5.5?
Basically, my question is we CANNOT skip version and install 10.5.8 (which is the latest) on, say, my 10.4.11?

Hello nrugkhapan, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Does it mean I have to install 10.5.1 first and then install 10.5.5?
That means you must purchase & install Leopard/10.5.x, which is freely upgradable to as far as 10.5.8, but you'll likely have to call Apple to get a cpy, since they no longer list it for sale on their site.

  • Blackberry Desktop Manager for Mac does not recognize any Calendars for syncing

ive installed the blackberry desktop manager for my Macbook and hooked my phone up through the USB port when I started the program and when I go to the calendar section it says "There are no calendars available on this computer for syncing.  Please launch a new iCal and create a new calendar".  How do I fix this?  I have a lot of information on my iCal that I want transferred over to my phone, but it won't recognize the calendar in the program.  Help

I'll try to help...first you did not provide any pertinent information for troubleshooting:  Mac OS, device, device OS...
Now before you do anything go to iCal>File>Export and create an iCal archive (JIC).  The rest is dependent on the OS (as each store iCal data differently)...It is possible that your calendar file is not where it should be.  Try cleaning system and user cache. Restarting your mac and repair permissions.
On the device side, what do you have as the default CICAL?  You could try forget device in the DM or trash the user>username>application support>BlackBerryDesktop folder and start over.
Now do you have more than one calendar?  In the DM how are you setting the sync?  Two Way, All Calendars...to what calendar are you adding on the device?  Under Advanced Settings are you selecting All events and are you Replacing all calendar events on the Blackberry device?  Remember that even if you have multiple calendars in iCal they will sync as one in the BlackBerry.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I found this on another site:
1.) Start the Desktop Manager software
2.) Connect the blackberry using USB Connector
    3.) Select "back-up and restore"
    4.) Select "advanced"
5.) Look at the list of information showing in the "device memory" window on your computer
6.) Select "calender all" and DELETE it
7.) Go back to the main screen and syncronize.
    8.) Everything should work fine!
In essence it was a corrupt calendar data file on the Blackberry device, apparently.

  • Mac Blackberry Desktop Manager Won't sync with New Bold 9650

I have a new Bold 9650 (upgraded from a curve). My curve recognized and would sync with no problems. I used BB Desktop Manager to restore my new bold with all it's contacts and such. When showing up in DM, the options for restore and back up are available. When I click on applications it says I need a newer version of desktop manager. I have downloaded the most recent from the website and it still says this.
More importantly, the SYNC option doesn't even come up while the two are connected. It stays greyed out and won't let me get the option to sync. This worked fine with the curve, but the bold won't sync!!! Help please!!!

I too had the same problem. See below... there's a workaround. Apparently they are working on it.

  • Tips for getting BlackBerry Desktop Manager to detect the BlackBerry smartphone!

Here are a few tips that may help if your PC is unable to detect your BlackBerry smartphone!
    1.    Install the desktop manager software – when installing the Desktop Manager software that came with your device be sure to Not have the BlackBerry connected to the computer during this process.
    2.    Always use the USB ports from the back of the computer; never use a USB hub or a docking station USB port.
    3.    If you have another UBS cable you can try doing that to make sure it is not the cable causing the issue.
    4.    If you are using a laptop computer disable the power management settings.
        a.    For Windows-XP and Vista do the following to disable power management on the USB ports
            i.     On the computer, right-click My Computer and select Properties.

vii.    Repeat steps i. through vi. for each USB Root Hub listed in BlackBerry Device Manager.
    5.    If you have uninstalled and reinstalled the Desktop Manager Software trying using the following knowledge base article to do a “clean uninstall” of the software. http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02206
    6.    The existing USB driver installed is for an earlier model of the BlackBerry smartphone.
        a.    Manually upgrade the USB driver for the BlackBerry smartphone by completing the following steps:
            i.     Right-click My Computer and select Properties > Hardware > Device Manager.
ii.     Under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, verify that the BlackBerry smartphone is found.
iii.    If an exclamation mark is displayed, right-click the BlackBerry smartphone and select Update Driver.
iv.    If the Hardware Update Wizard prompts you to use Windows Update, select No not this time and click Next.
            v.     Choose Install from a list or specific location and click Next.

  • Blackberry Desktop Manager does not show Media Manager

First, let me say I am a NEW Blackberry user, my hubby and I both got new Blackberry Curves 8310 recently.
When I installed the disc that came with the phone, the Blackberry Desktop Manager does not have the "Media Manager" as one of the choices, as was shown on all of the booklets and tutorials. I even re-installed the program, thinking maybe it didn't download completely the first time, but it still comes up showing only these 4:
Synchronize, Backup & Restore, Application Loader, and Switch Device Wizard.......
All of the directions I've received show that I can easily add pictures and music simply by clicking on Media Manager, but it just isn't there.
Here is info about the installation disk that we received with our phones, supposedly the correct and latest versions . . ..
    Blackberry Desktop Manager
    version 4.3.0.17 (Nov.12 2007)
    Device Communications      Blackberry Device mgr....4.3.0.7
                                             BBDevMgr   ................4.0.0.1

    Application Loader          Application Loader ..........4.3.0.13
                                         RIMProgram .....................1.0.0.35
Seriously, none of these really means a whole lot to me, I just want to click on something and have it work . . .  I did try to "upgrade" to a newer version, and I got the message that the version I had was the newer one, so now what?
I have memory cards inserted in the phone(s).
I will appreciate any help with this, I'm really frustrated. I figured out how to move files manually, but I don't understand why it isn't showing up as illustrated in the instruction manuals and online tutorials.

Whenever I try to uninstall the BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.6,
I get window that is looking for the BlackBerry Desktop Messenger.msi file in c:\Temp\<something>
I downloaded the latest 4.6 from the BlackBerry website, unzipped it and then point to the msi in there.
I get a message that says this is not the correct msi file for this application.
The latest version is B027 and I might have installed an earlier version.
Any thoughts on how to get this completely uninstalled.
Reason is I cannot install 4.6 or 4.7 because it first wants to complete the uninstall.
Further I cannot download the Webex client as it also is looking for this uninstall to complete.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
It sounds like you've got some real PC-level problems there...with all that you've done, I honestly don't know what to advise you at this internet-distance. I do know that, in the past, others have gotten into the same situation you are in and have would up totally reloading their PC OS from scratch in order to clean things up. I hope you don't have to go to that extent. But, several of your statements cause me to have questions...

You can or cannot do the uninstall from the Control Panel? I cannot tell from what you've said. The clean uninstall is documented in the prior-linked KB.

Yup...you've created quite a problem there...you might try re-installing the software, in repair mode (if such is offered), and then perhaps you'll be able to uninstall.

  • Desktop Manager shows "Disconnected"

    Hello...
I just installed Desktop Manager for Blackberry on my laptop and I'm trying to get it to connect with my Blackberry Curve device.  It shows as "Disconnected" and there is no PIN listed (Shows "None").  What do I do?  I've already done a hard reset on the device by removing the battery for a couple minutes and then tried to reconnect via a USB port and that didn't work.  I also tried on 2 different USB ports and neither seems to recognize my device.  What else should I do?  I hope I don't have to reinstall it as it takes so long.
