Blank space in report builder

Hi,
Please help me in the following Example
COL1 COL2 COL3 COL4
In oracle report builder I want to disable the column COL2 under some conditions. I made it.The output looks like this.
COL1          COL3  COL4
But after doing that I am getting more space between COL1 and COL3. I want to remove the space. How to Do it. Can anybody help me?

Hi,
draw anchors between the objects (from col2 to col1, col3 to col2, .., from top left corner to top left corner) and set the properties to collabsing. This property is relevant, if the master object will be hidden by format trigger. If a field then is disabled, the next one will be on this place and so on ...

  • Pass parameter with blank space for report ver 6

Inside the report query i add a where condition, acno >= :v_acno. When i run the report and pass acno without ' , it do not show any record. But when i run the report and pass acno with ' then able to show the records.
for example the value i key in

    Hi Nick,
It occurs because an argument of the DTExec commands must be enclosed in quotation marks if it contains a space. From the dtexe (SSIS Tool): Syntax Rules section of the
dtexec Utility (SSIS Tool) document, we can see:
All options must start with a slash (/) or a minus sign (-). The options that are shown here start with a slash (/), but the minus sign (-) can be substituted.
An argument must be enclosed in quotation marks if it contains a space. If the argument is not enclosed in quotation marks, the argument cannot contain white space.
Doubled quotation marks within quoted strings represent escaped single quotation marks.
Options and arguments are not case-sensitive, except for passwords.
So, you need to make the value of the variable @QUERY_STRING within double quotes in the value of the variable @Cmd or remove the space within the @QUERY_STRING value.

  • Issues in exporting SSRS report to PDF format in Report Server - Blank spaces are deleted

    Hi Gurus,
I have a problem in exporting SSRS report to PDF format. It deletes all the blank spaces when I use bullet in a Text box and try to export to PDF formt in Report Server . For example
    •             Project submitted to the TRC
    Result in PDF format:
         • ProjectsubmittedtotheTRC
I also noted that when I try to export to PDF in Visual Stuio 2005 (Business Intelligence development studio), it does not delete any blank spaces and shows the correct aligned Data in PDF format.
Please help me as it is frustrating a lot
I would highly appreciate for your quick response

Was there ever a solution found for this as i have the same issue.
When bullet point is entered in a field all the spaces are removed when exported to PDF
i tried exporting to excel and it does not remove spaces, however this is no use to me as it needs to be in PDF
Using IE 7 (Don't think the browser has anything to do with it as this happened via a subscription)
Didn't know SSRS had specific Service Packs, i though they came as patches to SQL Server (SQL Server is on Service Pack 3)
This should be easy to replicate all you need to do is copy text containing a bullet point into a sql server database field and then add this field to a report export to pdf and the spaces are gone

  • Subreport causing an extra blank space in PDF export of SSRS 2008 report

    Hi All,
I have a requirement of showing individual report and a Supervisor report.
In the individual report, I will run the SSRS report for a particular worker. In the supervisor report, I am supposed to show the report for each worker working under the supervisor.
I have created the individual report and it works fine(even when exported to PDF).
Now in order to create the supervisor report, I will get the supervisor ID which I broke into various individual ID's of workers working under the supervisor in DataSet and created a subreport which points to the Individual report. I embedded this subreport
in a Tablix and gave a group by on the ID so that for each ID, the report runs one time.
The issue that I am facing is that when I export the Supervisor report in PDF, after each page, I get an extra blank page.
The Supervisor report only contains the Tablix which has only one column containing the sbureport which points to the Individual report and a Header and footer and nothing else.
Still I am getting this extra page on PDF export. Please help on the same.

    Hi HiddenIdentity,
According to your description, you have a report to display subreport for each ID and you have set page break between each group instance. Now when you export the report into PDF, it generate an extra blank page between each group instance. Right?
In Reporting Services, Reports exported using PDF and Image are optimized for a book-like or printed experience where pages are a consistent size. Page breaks are inserted vertically and horizontally at specific locations within the report body. These specific
locations are determined by the page width and page height settings. Please see the following link:
Rendering Behaviors (Report Builder and SSRS)
In this scenario, when you put a sub report in a cell, the whole subreport body will be displayed in this cell. If the total width exceed the page width of a PDF page, the content will goes to the next page. That's it need two pages to render each subreport.
So please modify the subreport report size to make it as big as the tablix so that it can be rendered within one PDF page.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Blank Spaces in the report

<p>Hi </p><p>My Report has some columns which has the option as "Can Grow" so that when the returned value from the database is more that one line it can accomdate the data in the field.</p><p>The problem i am facing is that when the records are printed in the pages and when the next record is unable to fit in the remaning section of the report it automatically pushes to the next page.<br />In this scenario the previous page has blank space after the next record is printed.</p><p>Is there way that i can suppress this balnk space and force teh record to be printed in the same page and when the page is over it follows in the next page.</p><p>Thanks in Advance<br />Moa</p>

<p>My problem was that I wanted to display several lines in a total field: order amount, minimum charge, delivery charge and tax. When any of them was zero, I needed to hide it without leaving a big gap. </p><p>Here was the solution: </p><p>Create a textbox. Set the textbox&#39;s "Suppress blank lines in embeded fields" property. <br />Instead of using database field (for example, table.fieldValue) and a label, create a formula that says:  </p><blockquote><p>If isNull{table.fieldValue} then </p><p>    "" </p><p>else </p><p>"Value:" + Chr(9) + ToText({table.fieldValue})   </p></blockquote><p>I placed a tab in this formula to space it out. Add tab stops (one left-aligned, one decimal) to your textbox, and drag the formula into it (embed) instead of the database field. Add the other fields to the textbox as well, separating fields by adding carriage returns. Bingo. The field and the line will disappear when there is no data.</p><p> I hope this helps.</p>

  • Encoding for blank spaces in url in a sql statement in report

    1. What function or process do I use to encode for blank spaces in a url link in a report?
I need to link from a report to a 2nd report and pass 5 variables. I believe that I need to do that by embedding my own url in the sql for the report, since the standard report sets up for only 3 variables to be passed.
One of my variables PARTNER_FIRM has spaces in it, so how do I encode for that in the query. Currently, I have the following (... simplified).
    select partner_firm,
    count(distinct event) distinct_events,
    '<a href="f?p=18509:4:&SESSION.::NO:4:P4_PARTNER_FIRM,P4_QUARTER,P4_CATEGORY,P4_PRODUCT_CATEGORY,P4_EVENT:' ||
    partner_firm ||
    '%2C&P3_QUARTER.%2C&P3_CATEGORY.%2C&P3_PRODUCT_CATEGORY.%2C&P3_EVENT.">' ||
    count(distinct lower(attendee_email)) || '</a>' distinct_attendees
    from all_events ...
but partner_firm has spaces which are returned. I think there is some way that I can encode for that?
    Thanks,
    Stephen

    Sure there is:
    select apex_util.url_encode('http://ww.oracle.com/') from dual

  • How to replace blank spaces with zero's in the report

    hai sdn guys,
we have a requirement where we cannot have any blank fields in the report and i need to replace the blanks with a zero. What is the best way to do it.

    Hi Sunitha,
It is not proper that you are posting the same question multiple times:
Re: report o/p should not have blank spaces in - in case of no value
should get 0's in place of blank value in  the output of the report
That too inspite of my requesting you not to do so.
I am not sure if you have ever gone through the Rules Of Engagement which are prominently posted in each forum, but I think it is SDN courtesy to provide proper feedback when posting a question and assign points as deemed fit. This helps (and motivates) everyone to work on your problem and try to give you a solution. I hope you will be more careful in the future. Thanks!

    Hi,
You Can Remove # in workbook by using macro's.
You Can use the following Code in VB macro to Eliminate #.
Sub SAPBEXonRefresh(queryID As String, resultArea As Range)
    Dim ws As Worksheet
    Set ws = resultArea.Parent
    resultArea.Select
    'Remove '#'
    Selection.Cells.Replace What:="#", Replacement:="", LookAt:=xlWhole, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, MatchCase:=False, MatchByte:=True
    resultArea(1, 1).Select
    End Sub
    Hope it helps.

  • SSRS- report builder showing recent sites and server as blank

    Hi All,
A client of ours when executes Report builder is not able to see Report models as report builder just gets open but do not create connection to server.
We have done the following settings for same:
Used both name and IP of system and added the same to Trusted Sites in IE settings
Also we have used port number along with URL for report builder.
We have given all rites to user on reporting services (SQL)
But it is still not showing report models.
Kindly help us.  It is very urgent.
    Thanks in advance
    -Regards
    Kumud

    Hi Kumud,
According to your description, your client can't see the created report models in Report Builder. Right?
In this scenario, the reason why the client can't see the report models because he doen't connect to report server. Please click the
Connect at the left bottom of Report Builder and type the report server url manually to reconnect the report server.
If the connection is failed, please check if there any process on client side which occupies the port for report server URL. Here are two articles for your reference to do troubleshooting.
Report Builder 3.0 error : Connection Failed. Unable to connect to the server that is specified in the URL
    Connecting to Report Server
Since the Semantic modeling language (SMDL) report models are deprecated. Although you can you continue to use existing report models as data sources in SQL Server 2012 or later version Reporting Services reports you should consider updating your reports
to remove their dependency on report models.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Report Builder - Last page issue and Report Footer issue

I am using ColdFusion 9 Report Builder, am new to this product and encountering 2 issues.
Issue 1 - I have a field that I would like to print on the last page of my report.  How can I determine the last page?  I initially tried using a calculated field set to the 'highest' calc.Page_Number.  Then I could compare the current page to the last page in the 'Print When' property.  But calc.Page_Number can not be used in a definition of a calculated field.
Issue 2 - Depending on the amount of report detail, sometimes my report footer prints alone, without a page header and page footer.  The report includes this page in the total number of pages.  For example, if it is a 2 page report, the page header on page 1 will display Page 1 of 2.  Then the only data on Page 2 is the Report Footer.  No page header or page footer prints.
Any assistance on these issues would be most appreciated.  To date, using the Report Builder has not been easy.

To issue 1: The report contains a report band called report footer. thsi is always at the last page. The report footer band initially is collapsed, so you have to expand it by dragging the last band divider.
To issue 2: I guess this is a page break calculating error when detail data reaches really near the page footer area.
Try some experiments with different setting of the following properties/issues:
    - in elements, e.g. calculating fields in the bands between report detail and page footer: In Properties / Print Control / Printing Options: Activate the option "Remove line when blank". This will remove the whole report band area if this field is blank. May save some empty space.
    - try to remove unused empty space between detail rows.
    - try to resize and reposition all detail fields so that they snap to the grid.
    Best regards

  • XML Publisher Printing Blank spaces for no data

    hi All,
We are trying to build a report using XML Publisher and .RTF template.
We have dynamic fields like Wt Uom, Volume Uom, Dimensions. So when we don’t have data in these fields XML Publisher consider these data as blank and so blank spaces comes. If we have data in these fields then blank spaces will not come, as the blank spaces will be filled up the data of Wt, Volume and Dimension fields.
We want to remove the blank spaces for the items that do not have any corresponding data for the fields. Is there any way we can remove the field header and the blank spaces that are there?
    Please help
    thanks,
    Chandan

    Hi Chandan
The element is present in the XML data, but it has one space
    <?if:element_name and element_name=' ' ?> desired behavior when
the element exists but value has one space <?end if?>
    Or
what you can do is trim the data before forming XML .
