Blank Template Backup?

Hi, I was stupid and edited my blank templates xml files without backing up the original, and now it's giving me font not found errors. I just don't want to have to change the font to TNR every time I open a new document.
Can someone upload or email me the xml files for their blank template, I'd really appreciate it, the files I'm needing are:
/Applications/iWork 08/Pages.app/Contents/Resources/Templates/Blank/Blank.template/index-trad.xml.g z
/Applications/iWork 08/Pages.app/Contents/Resources/Templates/Blank/Blank.template/index-iso.xml.gz

Send me a mail so I will have an address to send the files to

  • After choosing a blank template in PAGES, i am unable to type in the main body of the docs. I have to open a text box to type. Pls help

Hi all, need help here. I just face this problem today. When i click the pages icon and after choosing a blank template, i am unable to type anything in the document. All icons in the format bar at the top cannot be clicked (font, font size etc). I will have to open a text box in order to type it.
If i open an existing PAGES doc, duplicate and rename it, then i delete all existing text that i have written, only then i can type in at the doc.
To illustrate my problem, attached is a pic from my Macbook screen
    Please help.

Maybe try turning on the grammar checker.

  • The document "Blank.template" could not be opened. in Pages

I can not open any tempaltes in Pages from iWork on Macbook Pro.
When I open pages. I can then pick a template. when I click that or any of the templates I get
The document “Blank.template” could not be opened.
I am new to the Mac world and trying to set up for my son to do homework. So please bear with me if I ask a lot of questions.
I reloaded the software and still get the same reply. Any help to get it running would be a HUGE help.

    Mitch,
See if you can run Pages successfully in another User account. If so, you have a corrupt PLIST file in the main user acount.
I have a hunch that this is your problem since reloading the software didn't solve the problem. But, I have to ask if you may have moved Pages.app from where the installer put it.

  • Blank.template file issue

    Alright guys,
    I messed up!
I was trying to get pages to permantly set the default language to Australian English, when I found that the pretty much the only way to do it is save a new blank template. (this is the normal blank template with the language set to Australian)
I tried to take it a step further and update ( well replace) the original blank.template file in the package folder,
And now i get error when opening old documents.
I know i shouldnt have messed with the application package
but If anyone here is kind enough to upload a copy of their original blank.template file
    i'd be ever so grateful
That should fix it straight away
P.S. yes, i've already slapped myself for replacing without backing up a copy
    <Edited by Host>

To have Pages in Australian english you change it in the System preferences. Not fiddeling with the application at all. You can create a blank template and change all the styles to australian english and then save that template as a template and it will be located in My templates in the New tempalte chooser.
To get an original blank template in the right location install Pages again.

  • Can't open a new blank template in Pages?

When I open Pages to choose a new blank template I get an error message that states "Pages has either moved or been deleted".  Anyone have any advice to help would be greatly appreciated.

    Wendy,
Have you looked for Pages.app to see if it's been moved or deleted? Here's an example of using Finder to locate the app.

  • Multiple view state best practice for IOS packaged app - Tabbed view or blank template?

    TabbedViewNavigatorApplication or plain Application?
I have an iPad app that has a fairly complex main view.  Has lots of view state changes.  Before a user can get to that main view, however, they have to go through two other screens:
    1.  Authentication
    2.  Fill out and submit a small form (maybe 6 fields)
If they do those two things right, they can move on to the main view.  If they don't, they can't move on and the main view shouldn't load.
Don't want a tab bar showing in the main view.  Has to be full screen.
    My thoughts were:
    1.  Start with the tabbed view template because it's built for this.  Just figure out a way to hide bars top and bottom for main view.
    2.  Use a blank template and do everything with standarf Flex view states
    Not sure...

Or you can go with door #3, a blank template with a ViewNavigator you use to push and pop your views from the Main.
View states are heavy. Avoid them like the plague in mobile apps. They are ok for small things like buttons and such, but that's about it.

  • Blank template

is there a way to start with just a black page perse"?
I am going to be doing a one page website for a local buisiness and I don't think any of the templates will be right for her.
    Any suggestions would be great.
    thanks Laura

    Hi Laura Drew1...
Have you updated your iWeb to version 1.1.1? Starting with iWeb 1.1, Apple started including blank templates of each theme. And there is a white theme and a black theme...so that's as close as you will get to a completely blank page (which it is!).
If you haven't updated yet or you don't see these blank templates in your iWeb, I would suggest that you download the iWeb 1.1.1 update DMG from Apple directly here...

Let me know what you think. Good luck to you!

  • Blank Template - Change

How do I change the Blank Template preferences of the paragraph settings so that they come up in the basic format that I want? ie instead of 0 spacing before or after paragraphs I can have 6pt.

The save widow should allow you to save it in My Templates which will show up in the Template Chooser. Or you could save it anywhere you would find convenient. I save many of mine in particular newsletter files in Documents.

  • Blank Templates in White and Black Ready

Well I finally got around to doing this... you can now download entirely BLANK template pages in either white or black from my downloads page. These are not just page where I erased the text and left locked text boxes. Nope - these are real template pages where every object, minus the Apple logo, has been REMOVED from the template. Even the navigation bar no longer exists!
The nice thing about the two blank pages is that you don't actually have to install a new template to use them. Technically you can just download replacement files for Black Welcome.webtemplate and White Welcome.webtemplate and just overwrite your existing versions. That is... if you don't mind losing the original Welcome layout - no biggy, but you might care.
If you don't want to overwrite your Black or White Welcome pages, then you can install a new template that I built called Blank Pages. Right now that template contains both the black and white blanks. It has room for four more blanks and I will likely do blanks for Freestyle, Travel, Formal and Road Trip. I'll make an entirely new set of blanks for Baby and Kids and put those in a new template later.
Feel free to make suggestions as I prefer to do what people want.

At the moment, I'm a creative guy in an ad agency. I went to school for design, got converted to a writer when I got my first ad job, then went back over the fence when I became Creative Director. I do a little bit of everything now -- a one man wrecking crew. I can wreck anything!
There are better writers, there are better designers, but not too many of us who do both. Or edit video (Thanks Final Cut Pro.) Or mess around with music. (Thanks Garageband, Thanks Logic Express.) Or **** around making web pages. (Thanks iWeb.) Basically, I'm too technologically enabled for my own good. You'll see firsthand when I finally get my website together, which is living **** because unless I do it just right, people will realize that I've been a fraud all these years, and I'll lose my job, my family and my . . . see . . . I can't think of a third thing! I STINK!!!!
Besides that "blank page" fear, that's my other underlying neurosis —
that people will find out I have no talent. 'Cause that's how I feel most of the time. 10% savant, 90% idiot. Using Apple technology to compensate.
Anyway, there you have it. Other than that, I'm a normal, self-adjusted human being, I think. (OR AM I FOOLING MYSELF??????)
If you'd like to find out where else I've been lurking, you can check out the links on my temporary web page at paultedeschi.com. When you get the guitar rig up and running, maybe I'll see you over at MacJams.

  • Making blank templates into my main Blog page (iWeb 1.1)

How do I make a blank template into the welcome page where all the blog entries will show up.
See I like the gazette template but I don't like the two collums on the blog page. I just want the one column on the page (I can delete the itims in one colum but it will still have that ugly stripe on the bakground). Well I can copy the things I want unto the blank template but how do I make that my welcome page so that when I make blog entries it will show up on that blank page?

Sorry I think I am confusing everybody. And not having all the names right etc. it is very confusing explaining what happens.
When you select Blog from a template. THat is what you will see when you visit somebodies site (if that is the only thing on there). We will call that the homepage. Well the Blog that I select (Gazette) has 3 colums. I only want 2. I don't want the colum all the way on the right side. I can delete all those entrie but it leaves a line there (that is the way that template works). But all my entries will show up with that line going through it.
Now I thought let's get the blank template and copy everything I need from the Blog template unto the blank template. It looks awesome. Except now I can't put blog entries into that blank template because it will make those entry in my blog template.
My question was if there is an easy way to make that blank template which looks like the blog template (with one less colum) my homepage which will include the new entries that I will make. Like somhow convert it to a blog template so it will have the arrow on the side which you can click and it will show you the entries and the archive.
But I think that link will work. I will get a blog template. Clean it and make it blank. And copy the content from the gazette template unto the clean blank blog template (that will include the blog entries). That is what I want.
So yes I think your link is the solution to my problem.

  • Can't open documents or blank.template

I have an older MacBook with Pages 1.0.2. It can't open a new document, saying that Blank.template cannot be found. I downloaded Pages docs from Dropbox and from Pages on my iPod, and it won't open those either. Help?

    Welcome to the Apple forums
Looking back through some notes I made, Pages '05 doesn't work well in Snow Leopard. Even '06 has some limitations when opening Word files.
I suggest getting a newer version. I think it is likely we will see updated versions of the iWork apps when the Mac App Store goes live. I suggest you download the iWork '09 trial which you can use for 30 days. In the meantime you can find legal copies of iWork '08 or '09 at greatly reduced prices through Amazon.com or on eBay.

Before trying to answer, I wish to check if you are really running under 10.4.11 and in this case, which is the exact application's version in use.

  • Blank templates and no cursor

I have just installed iwork 09 on a mac mini running snow leopard but am experiencing problems with the install in that when launched the applications return blank documents with no cursor. File/open shows all the templates listed but I cannot simply make a selection by clicking on a template - I have to double click and the template then opens as a blank document but if I select outline the image appears fleetingly before disappearing. The image is there - I simply cannot see it or work on the document.
I have tried reinstalling but with no luck and have also tried tried replacing the preferences files for both application and also fonts - to no avail.
I wonder if iWork installs system files one of which may be causing this problem?
    Can anyone help please?
    Thank you

Uninstall  iWork by going to Yvan's iDisk :
    <http://public.me.com/koenigyvan>
    Download :
    For_iWork:iWork '09:uninstall iWork '09.zip
Expand the archive and run the script.
    Then install iWork again.
Don't forget doing the iWork updates too.
