Block a sender

Hi Jay,
How to deny a specific address (outside my domain) to send emails to my users?
I know it can be done from FROM_ACCESS, but can you please give me the exact syntax such as:
*|*|*|*|<The_External_Address>|* $NRelaying$ Not$ Allowed!
Will this work?
thanks,

Hi Linda,
An example of testing a mapping table rule is as follows:
bash-2.05# ./imsimta test -mapping
Enter table name: ORIG_SEND_ACCESS
Input string: tcp_local|[email protected]|tcp_local|[email protected]
Output string: 30|Relaying not allowed
As the input string you need to provide the values that are to be tested (not just the address, but in this case also the incoming channel, outgoing channel and rcpt to: address)
For your filter, you probably want to have something like:
tcp_local|[email protected]|*|* $N$D30|Blocked$ address$ go$ away
The $N will cause the email to be rejected before it is accepted, therefore you don't need to worry about having to process the bounce. The $D30 also causes a 3 second delay before the rejection occurs; this slows down the sender (punishes them you might say).
With regards to an external file, what you should be using is the general db callout (which is nice and fast).
Three files at the following site should help you with this:
http://ims.balius.com/resources/downloads/index.html
general.txt (source file for the general database, this is where you put the address to be rejected)
spam-update.sh (script to create the general database file from the general.txt source, the general db file is what message server looksup)
mappings.txt (the mappings file which has the general database callout)
Hope this helps.
Shane.

Junk mail returns after deleting the item in the "Junk mailbox" and "Trash".  Is there a way to permanently block the sender?
I have deleted the item multiple times both on my Mac mini and my touch and 5 minutes later it is back in my Junk mailbox.  The item will not return to the Junk mailbox until it is deleted from the trash.

    You can create a Rule

  • Can you block a sender who is not 5 digit number?

This sounds so stupid. but I gave my number to someone and don't want to receive any more txts from this number, is there a way to block this sender?

        Hey there!
You can certainly add Call and Message blocking and prevent their calls or texts from coming through to you. It's a free service and you can add this for up to 5 numbers for a period of 90 days. This is again for both services, and not texts only. Here's a great link for you http://bit.ly/QwfA2E. Thanks!

  • TS3276 How do I block a sender who keeps offering me a banking deal?

Mearly every day I receive an email from a Bank with whom I have no account and no dealings. I would like to block this sender from contacting me.

If you are from (Adelaide) Australia, you have the right to unsubscribe from unwanted email. Failure to allow this opt out link, usually at the bottom of the email, carries penalties for the sender. Don't seek a workaround to this,  exercise your right and make it known that you don't wish to receive this.
If notiication to the sender fails to resolve your problem contact ACMA and lodge a complaint.

  • I know I can bounce an unwanted email but is it possible to block the sender?

I get very little spam but one persistent sender which I continually bounce sends an almost daily email.  Can I block this sender from my emal inbox?

Just mark one of these emails as Spam and they will be placed in the spam folder, rather than your inbox. Depending on which mail software / service you use, you can do that either in the mail application or on the web interface of your mail service provider.

  • Block a sender except for one reepient

    Hi again,
Is there a way to block one sender from sending emails to a hosted domain , except for one recepient. Say mydom.com email hosting id done on our server, and a sender [email protected] is trying to send emails to users in the @mydom.com , we need to block those emails except emails sent to [email protected]
Is there a way to do this?

You're going to have to start out by rquiring all your users to authenticate. Then you're going to have to build a sieve script to do your filtering.
That's if "one sender" is IN your domain. If he's not, then you're talking about some kind of "blacklist". If that's the case, you might want to look at SpamAssassin, "by user", and include all users, except for your admin account.

  • Blocking a sender in email

Why am I not able to block a sender?  Even though the email goes into my spam folder, I find it offensive and would like to block it.  I have not been happy with verizon email since day 1....and it has NOT gotten any better!

In addition to the basic spam filter, you can block users.  You can choice where to send all blocked users (but not individual ones), including simply to delete blocked users emails.

  • How do I block unsolicited e-mail(s) from unsolicited senders? Why isn't there an auto option that simply pops up and asks if you wish to block this sender from future e-mails? I am so tired of my e-mail address being sucked out of a friends address book,

How do I block unsolicited e-mails from the sites that have stolen my e-mail address from a friends address book, and send me non-stop horrid e-mails. Why is there no pop-up to ask if "want sender blocked", to easily solve this problem? Seems like it would be such an easy solution to what must be a universal problem with these e-mail pirates.

It is frontiernet.com that would need to block the emails.
You can setup a Mail "Rule" to send email you do not want into the trash, or a spam folder, etc...
In fact, there is a Mail -> Message ->  Mark -> as Junk Mail, which will train Mail to reconize junk mail and start to automatically move it to a junk mail folder.
You can put this option on the Mail toolbar via Mail -> View -> Customize Toolbar, and drag the "Junk" icon to your Mail Toolbar.
But of course Junk takes training.  You can create a Rule to trash the emails you do not want right away via Mail -> Message -> Add Rule, or Mail -> Preferneces -> Rules

  • Administrative document blocked when sending message

    Hi,
For EMCS I am using excise duty in GTS. One of the messages which are used for this is an active message 'Send explanation of Delay'. No passive feedback message is expected in reaction to this message. Still, when executing this message, an idoc is created and subsequently the document is blocked. The system seems to automatically block the document after creating an idoc in method /SAPSLL/ECC_IDOC_CREATE.
This is an issue because I'm not done processing the document and I should be able to change it. Since no feedback message will come from customs there is no trigger to unblock my document (apart from the admin transaction for unblocking) and it will remain blocked forever.
This seems strange to me because SAP should have foreseen this as a standard message in the EMCS flow. Does anyone else have this issue or did I miss something in my customizing? The message type is set to 1 Completion.
    Thanks!
    Mireille

    Hi,
    FYI,
I created an incident and got the following reply:
thanks for contacting SAP Support in this matter.
    The observed behavior is
caused by the Customs systems behavior. In
case of a posive explanation there
will be no reply from customs. But
in case of negative explanation an error
    will be send.
Therefore the automatic update of actrivity sequence is not
    possible
    here.
There are two options to dissolve this situation:
    1)
directly send IE818 if legally ok
    2) use TA /sapsll/cdoc_stares and /sapsll/cdoc_act_clo to get activity
       in correct state again.
Hopefully the given information can help to solve the issue.
So there are no plans by SAP of resolving this.

  • Microsoft is blocking emails - sending delist option but never responds

Microsoft is blocking our emails for no reason. I have clicked on the delist option to voice my concern and get a lame message back that says someone will contact me within 24 hrs well its been several
delist requests and well over 72 hours later and your still blocking emails.  This is crap and its costing us money and some people's jobs.  No response when one is committed is absolute unacceptable behavior when this is costing us lots of money
    in lost sales.
I want an answer and I want a response and someone to talk to in order to get this straightened out.

  • Is There Any Way To Select A Text Message And Block The Sender?

I have received a few text messages that show partial email addresses as the sender.  I cannot see the entire address.  How can I block them?
The free blocking service on My Verizon requires you to enter a phone number but (1) these do not show a phone number and (2) I cannot see the entire email address.

ReallyMadCustomer, unwanted text messages from certain phone numbers can be a nussiance! I totally understand. The free Call and Messaging block feature was designed to block ten digit mobile numbers only. http://vz.to/MqEgqB I apologize that this feature is unable to block e-mail addresses. However, if this is a marketing text message, we recommend that you reply with the word "STOP" to remove your mobile number from that mailing list.

  • Simplest way to block a sender on OWA Outlook, specifically on the iPad

I'm not code proficient at all, and my boss who isn't either asked if there was a way to block an email on his iPad OutLook.
He's not in the office, and he hates questions. This is as much info as I have. As I don't have access to an iPad, I'm having a hard time finding an answer for him.
    Please help!

Thanks so very much for answering me! I'm not alone!
He wants to block an individual sender.
When you say he can "put the sender in the untrusted senders list in his Junk Mail Filter", so that implies that he will be able to find the Junk Mail Filter? That outlook works similarly on the iPad as it does on the PC? He knows where the Junk
Mail Filter is on the PC because he can right click it. But there is no right click on the iPad--I think?
Soo where would he find the Junk Mail Filter function on the iPad?
We encountered the lack of right click function availability on the iPad before when he tried to create a new folder. He worked around that by duplicating an old folder and deleting the old messages in it.
I mention code because a lot of the answers here involve attaching mime files or writing HTML.
