Blue-ish tone screen on 30 gig iPod Video.

My 30gig has kind of a blue-ish tone to the screen. My sister has the same iPod, and my friend has the same iPod but their's looks normal and perfect. Does anybody know what is wrong with it? I think it might be from being dropped too much. Re-ply to this post if you are having this problem too.

Just to fill you in on some more apple crap. I called apple care to get a repair setup, talked to a man and gave all info he requested to setup the delivery of the box for shipment back to apple for replacement. Got an e-mail stating I would receive the box in 2 days. NO box after waiting a week. Called apple care again and they told me this time it had to go to a physical address and not a post office box the first man said was ok. So here I am waiting once again for a empty box to arrive. UNBELIEVABLE. These people can't even get a empty box sent out properly.

  • Blinking Screen and no response - iPod Video 60GB

All of a sudden the screen of my iPod Video started to blink non-stop. The iPod was off, and suddenly the screen started to blink every few seconds. And now, I cannot even turn on the iPod, and my iMac won't recognize it when I put on the dock. I've tried (several times) the "Reset my iPod" instructions with no avail.
The screen is black (as if it were turned off), and just a "blink" (little white spark) every few seconds.
    Please help!!

I've never heard anything like it.
    Take it to Apple.
The best thing to do is to replace it,
you ipod might have a rare hardware condition.
This could also lead to other hardware problems.

  • Virus Tranfer w/30 gig ipod Video

I have read previous posts and i just want some clarity.
I have a 30 gig ipod vid and i was wondering if i put music pics or vids on it from an infected computer can i transfer them to another computer. I read it is possible if you are transfering stuff to the second computer as if the ipod were a removable disk, but what if i only use the 2nd computer to load my ipod (tranfer only to the ipod) via itunes? Also if i used other software to transfer my music, vids, or pics, to the second computer could i tranfer a virus then? I ask cuz at an internet cafe i burned a cd with vids n music. I scanned them before doing so and upon inserting it to a friends computer before transfering the vids n stuff i scanned it and viruses appeared. I knew the cafe had some virus that always inserted an exe into the folders i stored my files in, so i was careful, and thankfully so! If it is possible, then before doing any transferring to or from my friends computer can i safely attach my ipod via usb to my friends computer and scan it incase, without putting my friends computer at risk? Question is long and drawn out, but i dont wanna ask more questions, you know? Thanks a mill in advance.

i would imagine that if the virus was attached to music/vid/pic, then yes, there is a very good possibility that you could transfer the virus to the computer. your best bet would be just saving it to disc(cd/HDD/flash), virus scan/clean and then uploading to ipod. good luck!

  • Setting Up COLOR - Blue-ish TONE, how to fix?

Yesterday I did a print on a high end HP Color laser printer (Blessed to have it) and it was BLUEish in tone and didn't match my display - so I went into calibration for color and sure enough, when I calibrated it was blue and now matches better - problem is, I don't like the BLUE tones and wonder how to fix.
Also, I booted to 10.5.2 on a target disk mode and noticed there was adobe, Apple RGB and many more profiles, on 10.5.5, my default system I use the most, there was nothing. How do I get those calibrations from one boot system to here and why didn't they show up in the first place?
    Thanks

For the most accurate calibration, third-party hardware/software is recommended ([Spyder|http://www.datacolor.eu/en] being one). You can also do it in "System Preferences - Display - Color - Calibrate...", like you did, though it is likely not to be as accurate. But if it fixes the blue tint and you're happy with the result then no need to go further. There's a whole heap of info online about calibration, such as at [Northlight Images|http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/viewing.html].
As for importing profiles, just copy them into the HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Profiles. You can then check the profiles in Applications-Utilities-ColorSync Utility.

  • How to restore the blue-ish tinted screen instead of the yellow-ish effect?

Is there an application or a fix to restore the color of the screen? I switch from the 1st generation iPhone to the new 3G iPhone but the Mc Donald look is absolutely horrible. Any clue to fix this ourselves as Apple does not seem to will correcting it?

Yes, no fix but remember that when people answer you they might think that you have the tint that comes with a normaly calibrated iPhone 3G. There are better and worse versions out there. I had three various iPhone 3G with same firmware, and two of them were so yellow I had to Change them. Now its normal, slightly warm but with white whites. I wrote about this earlier but my topic was canceled. Good Luck!

  • 30 gig iPod video freezes

I've had this iPod since they first came out. What it's doing to my now is while playing a song, it just freezes. It won't play any more, it won't let me go back and forth in my menus, it won't fast forward, and most importantly, it won't let me reset! I have to unplug the charger and wait until the battery dies before plugging it back in and letting it come to life once more only to freeze again in an unknown amount of time. The only thing I can do once it freezes is if I touch the scroll wheel and the screen wasn't lit, the screen lights up and remains lit until the iPod battery dies. It does this without any movement at all and I'm using a dock connector plug for audio and charging simultaneously.

Yes, I have. It did not help.
Just thought I would checked because you made no mention of it in the previous post.
How about a reformat of the iPod using *Disk Utility*? This article provides instructions on how to do just that.

  • 60 gig ipod video, unable to view photos

No problem downloading photos from selected folder useing ipod options/photo. However when I select a folder of pictures from the ipod the thumbnails are blank, and when I select a photo and try to view it the ipod freezes, gets noticably warmer, there is a great deal of hard drive noise, and a reset is needed.
I haven't tried any videos yet, but mp3 files play just fine.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Think I might of resolved the issue. Used ipod updater to errase and restore settings to my ipod, and used a new folder of photos and a resinc seems to have fixed it. I am going to add more jpgs and see if itunes will convert them for my ipod has well.

  • Cover For 80 Gig Ipod Video

Ok my last video got scratched to all heck, Im looking for the best case/cover solution for my ipod with out taking away for the ipod, anyone have any recommendations?

I forgot to mention that with the iSkin, you can use
the universal dock by removing the adapter. You do
not need to remove the iPod from the iSkin!
Which version did you buy? That have various models. Having one that actually allows you to use the dock without removing it, is what I've been looking for. But I can't tell which one it is looking on their web site. Can you point it out?

The battery logo is "charging" and the time on top has been frozen since this morning. Ive checked out the 5 R's and ive had no luck in restarting it. If need be I would like to reinstall my ipod. Keep trying to reset it (remember its Menu and center button for 6-10 seconds).
If that doesn't work, try resetting it but hold for about 30 seconds.

  • Sound on my 60 gig ipod video goes out when I play videos only

It works fine on songs but when I play a video the sound stops at like 30 secs into the video. It does that on any video I play also it does it when I hook it up to my TV. I reset my Ipod and it still does it. Any help guys thanks

The sound rate may not be correct.
Also, did you make or download these videos from other sources (not iTunes) and convert them for iPod?

You mentioned Best Buy and since you had no location in your profile I assumed wrong. There seems to be plenty here. have you considered on line thru Apple?

  • Cracked iPod video screen

I've bought my son iPod video 30G last Christmas. Yesterday he found iPod screen cracked and not working. He said he didn't do anything but keeping it in his backpack. I took it to "Smart" bar at the store where I bought it and got the worst experience. The "Smart" guy in that store kept saying about the limited warranty which does not cover the damage done by abuse and offering best option like recycling the four-month old iPod 30Gig and geting 10% discout for new purchase. He said it even cannot be repaired. Does it make any sense to anybody??
I've searched online and found there are tons of complains about fragile iPod video screen and Apple hasn't done anything about this inherent defect yet. Let me ask Apple company the question. Is it really only the user's fault? Is it fair to blame the customers only and even refusing the repair? I guess you should have clearly posted the statement like "the screen is extremely fragile, so please put it in hard-shell case not to break it" in the user manual.
So, good lesson, everyone. Don't waste your $300 for this poor material.

trust me if ipod screens were really that fragile i'd have broken one by now.
I like have the worst care for electronics ever.
let's see i've had three ipod's. my mom said she'd buy me a new one if i'd let her have my old one. that one still works. the next one suffered a corrupted harddrive. and my third one still works. it had better i only got it christmas.
anyway, at multiple times i have sat on dropped and banged against things each one of these ipods.
trust me if ipod screens were really that fragile i'd have broken one by now.
I did have a theory about this though. the accidental breaking.
this depends on the supposed idea that the front cover of the ipod is a layer of glass and one of plastic.
there may be a thin layer of air or moisture trapped between the two layers and when moved from intense cold to heat. the air or moisture expands and causes the material to break.
note the last science class i took was high school chem and i got a D. so no you can't take this to the bank, probably.
and that class was probably graded on a curve.

  • 30 GIG Video iPod, Video Options not available - Please help!

    Hi.
I have a 30 GIG iPod Video 5th gen, with the latest iPod updater software installer on it.
But when I look at the iPod preferences, when it's plugged in via USB, all Video options (manual vs automatic etc) are all greyed out and not available for selection.
And I can't drag any videos onto the iPod (even with the right video format!).
It's like the iPod itself doesn't recognised that it is an Video one, like it has a complex and can only deal with music and photos.
Can anyone help or offer advice?
    Anyone had a similar problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for your help guys.
Even with the iPod set to manual, I couldn't drag iPod format videos directly onto it.
Did a factory restart, and it has fixed the problem.
And just a note; the options in the video tab will always be greyed out, when the iPod is set to manually update songs.
    cheers!

  • How do i transfer pictures from 60 gig Ipod to iMac?

I am giving a family member a 60 gig Ipod Video. And How can I get the pictures off the Ipod and onto my new iMac?

If you copied photos to your iPod using the full resolution option, enable disk use, open your iPod in "my computer" in Windows or Finder on a Mac, open the photos folder then open the "full resolution" folder and drag the photos out of that folder to your desktop. For enabling disk use look here.
    Disk Use.
If you only copied the photos as thumbnails, you can't do this so you'll need a program such as this one.
iPod Photo Liberator. (both Mac and Windows versions available)
Photos as thumbnails won't be of the original quality when copied back to your computer.
