Blue question marks in safari...

I was changing around the layout of my blog and made a large image file as the header. I use firefox mostly, but I checked it on safari to see whether or not it was rendering correctly.
In Firefox, the image displays fine.
In Safari, the image displays as a blue question mark with the Alt Text.
It's a standard, jpeg image... What is going on here?
Derek
PS- www.colouroftelevision.com if you'd like to confirm.

the image fails to display in any mac browser I've tried - likely because it is specified as http://bp0.blogger.com/iS1G_xkE-wg/RwYAgfGLUI/AAAAAAAAADA/YjumUlp80dw/s1600/colour-of-television.jpg which blogger.com refuses to serve to a webpage, only as a download.
I would guess that the blogger software or page-writing app you use has maybe messed up the image storage somehow.

  • Getting blue question mark for images in Safari

    Hi guys
I have MBP 15", early 2011, 250 GB SSD, 16 GB RAM, 10.10 Yosemite OSx and I am facing problem recently is that some images in Safari 8 browser won't open and instead blue question mark will arise . I have friend of mine using ipad2 and I asked her about this issue but the images opened with her smoothly. any suggestion. Thanks

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Safari not showing secure site images (blue question marks)

I have Safari 4 installed on my Windows laptop. I am having a problem viewing secure sites. All that appears is the text and then blue question marks where the images/tables should be. This is not a problem when using Firefox, Chrome, or IE.
This is also not a problem on my other windows computers nor on my Mac.
I've tried resetting Safari, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Safari, nothing is working.
Any idea how to fix this?

I too am having this problem. I cannot access my gmail, ebay, facebook, or other login sites. If I attempt to access any site that requests user and password information, a safari dialogue stating "safari can't verify the identity of the website "...."". So far I've assumed that all of my certificates are comprimised. I don't know how to delete my certificates to get new ones as this information is not posted anywhere.

  • (SSL?) Certificates, Safari, and blue question marks

Recently I ran into some trouble with Mail and messed around with my certificates and Keychain a fair bit. Nonetheless, everything seems to be fine, except Safari. A problem I would run into intermittently before now dominates my online experience.
I encounter images being replaced with blue question marks very frequently. Additionally, on webpages with logins and forms (e.g. eBay, Paypal), the formatting of the page is nearly nonexistent. Fonts, pictures, all missing--everything is just mashed together. I can still login, though. Before loading any webpage on which this happens, Safari notifies me that the page might not be secure. I click continue, and voila, blue question marks.
If I then Ctrl-click on one of the question marks and choose "Open image in new tab", I get a certificate error, usually with what appears to be an image server. The message usually goes something along the lines of, "Safari can't identify the identity of the website "images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com". The certificate for this website is invalid. You might be connecting to a website that is pretending to be "images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com" which could put your confidential information at risk. Would you like to connect to the website anyway?"
If I then click "Show Certificate", I see that "This certificate has an invalid issuer" If I check the box "Always trust these certificates" and reload the page, the image shows up. If I then go back to the original page and reload it, all images appear. This also solves my problem with forms and page formatting.
However, this is obviously a pain. And a bit disconcerting, to boot. I've tried clearing the cache, resetting Safari, reinstalling Keychain and Safari via Pacifist, to no avail.
Any thoughts on navigating this issue? It seems to occur primarily (if not entirely) with SSL certificates. . .
    Hopeful,
    a.

Hi, aresnick, is that as in old lace? on the very long state named road?
I looked in Safari help for "SSL certificates" in 10.3.9 and in 10.4.7 this term "Certificate". Irregardless both give the same message:
Accessing websites that require a personal certificate
If you need to access a website that requires a personal certificate, you will be provided with a certificate and instructions for installing it in your keychain.
Once your certificate is installed in your keychain, you should be able to gain authenticated access to the website automatically.
If you are unable to access the website, contact the website administrator.
continue Safari Help: Deleting data saved from web forms
If you select the option to automatically complete web forms using information from other webpages, Safari saves information you enter. You can delete this information, if you choose.
Choose Preferences from the Safari menu and click AutoFill. Click Edit next to the "Other forms" checkbox. Select the item you want to delete and click Remove. If you want to delete all the items, click Remove All.
If you don't want to use data from other web forms, deselect the "Other forms" checkbox in the AutoFill pane of Safari preferences.
The Blue question mark and images do not appear appear, safari help:
    Images don't appear
If webpage images don't appear, the option to display images may be turned off or there may be a problem with your network.
Choose Preferences from the Safari menu and click Appearance. Click to select "Display images when the page opens."
If the option is already selected, trying reloading the page. Choose Reload Page from the View menu.
Therefore if i were you I would follow the instructions listed from Safari Help. I would also Reset Safari, which clears the history, empties the cache, clears the Downloads window, and removes all cookies. It also removes any saved user names and passwords or other AutoFill data and clears Google search entries. (see reset Safari in Help for more info)
Then run perm. repair & a restart of the computer.
You might want to look into updating to 10.4.7 following same steps as underlined in a. brodies in link posted to you earlier, in this thread.
    Good Luck.
Hth. Please post back to let us know, how you did .

  • On my MacBook Pro when I am connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable, Facebook pictures do not load. They show up as white boxes with blue question marks.

On my new MacBook Pro when I am connected to the internet via an Ethernet cable, Facebook pictures do not load. They show up as white boxes with blue question marks. This also happens on a website editor. But, when I am connected to the internet via Wifi, everything load properly. This is my work computer, so I have to be able to connect through the Ethernet cable to access everything. Please help me!

I mostly use Safari. But I also tried it on Firefox, Mozilla, and Camino. Mac OS X. It's my work computer, so I've only tried it at the office. I have to be connected through the Ethernet cable to access my files and email on the server.

  • Blue question mark icons

I made my site on iweb and everything looked fine. But after I publish, for some reason some of the links come up as blue question mark icons instead of the hyperlink. All of them are text links. One is a link to an external page, one is a llnk to one of my pages, and the other ones are links for emails.
What's confusing me is the fact that the link to the external age and the link to one of my pages is on the same page. However there's two other links exactly like them on the same page and those two are fine. I looked through the forums and read about the fact that some images might've not gone through. But the funny thing is that I looked through the files and html code and the links that are working don't have any images associated with them. The links that are NOT working however do have images made. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Post your URL and the users here can take a look at what you're seeing. Is this in Safari, Firefox, AND IE or just some of those?

  • Blue Question Mark(s) of Death

At random times on Facebook and with various ads, I'll get the dreaded blue question mark in place of a thumbnail. It's annoying as **** and I've never found a fix for it. I've reset Safari, emptied the cache, but it's not just Safari-related: it's happening in Opera, too. I tested it out on a Dell and everything was OK, but my five-month old MacBook Pro can't seem to handle images. What can I do?

This thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1334564) seemed to have worked the problem out by adding "ISP DNS servers to the Network settings."
Since I have the same AT&T 2Wire router, I went to their site and added the two DNS servers to my Network list (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/2588). I suppose Safari's a bit faster, but I still can't see the same images.

  • That little blue question mark

I place a hyperlink to 'sending an email' and publish. On the published site a small blue question mark appears however the link is active. Why doesn't the email address show up as on the page in iWeb?
    Any ideas?

The little blue question mark on your published pages as viewed in a browser usually indicates that an image was not loaded. You may have to reload the page in order to force the image to download. It might also help to empty your browser cache (Safari>Empty cache) and/or add a "?" to the end of your URL to force the browser/server to fetch a fresh copy of things.
If any of this proves to be useful to you, please do me a favor and mark my reply as "solved" or "helpful" using the little buttons that you see in the title bar of this reply. Thanks.

  • Blue question marks???? help

All of a sudden, Safari is now displaying blue question marks instead of pictures on some websites like Facebook.  How do I fix this?

Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. If it finds any issues, resolve them, then boot in safe mode (shift key down at startup) to rebuild the font caches. Boot again as usual and test.

  • Blue Question marks appear...

Blue Question marks appear when websites like Facebook have pictures.  This began after Uverse was installed in my home.  It did not do this previously with ATT High Speed Internet.  Uverse claims this is a computer issue.  SOMEONE HELP!
    Yes my computer is updated.

    Hi..
If you are using Safari, from your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Appearance tab.
Make sure the box next to: Display images when the page opens   is selected.
If that box was already selected, back to the menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
If that doesn't help, try Safari > Preferences > Privacy
    Click:  Remove All Website Data
Quit then relaunch Safari to test.

  • Blue question marks for slide shows buttons.

    Good day iWeb list,
All of a sudden the Play/Pause, Back and Forward buttons for my slide shows have turned into a generic looking blue question marks.
I noticed one other user having a similar issue a while back, and I believe the remedy was to re-publish the entire site. I've tried that to no avail. Resetting cache has not affect as well.
    Any thoughts?
You can witness this issue by going to my web site below and then click on the "Woodworking" page to view the slide show.

    Thanks as usual, Gramps.

    Gramps-
I've noticed that safari 4 sometimes does the ? thing with images... almost like it doesn't finish loading sometimes. Not sure if it's provider traffic or safari related but it can be annoying.

  • Blue Question Mark Box Issue

I have a 2011 iMac with version 10.6.8. I haven't made the switch yet to Mountain Lion.  I just upgraded internet service from AT&T DSL 3.0 to AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet 6.0.  After the "upgrade" I now get the blue question mark box on websites where images should be.   Also, I'm unable to stream videos on sites like Hulu.  I have troubleshooted the issue by ensuring the "Display images when the page opens" box is checked and reseting Safari.  I do not have any 3rd party extensions.
Now here's where I get really confused...I also have a Dell laptop (work computer) connected to the same network.  It doesn't have this problem at all.  Works fine.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Hello, I'd reseach all the problem & missing features in 10.8 before considering it.
For the Safari problem, this has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK.
    Also, turn off IPv6:
    System Preferences » Network » AirPort » TCP/IP tab » Configure IPv6
    Or whatever Interface you use.
