No… nobody knows Apple's plans but Apple. Also, speculation is against the Terms of Use that we all accept when creating our accounts.
I would suggest you check some rumour site. You'll have better luck there.

  • CD/DVD/Blu Ray failing to detect/read blu ray discs

Hello Sony Communitythis is my first post so please be patient with me I have a Sony vaio laptop, model name is VPCEG16FMi have already restored it to factory settings a couple days ago and everything is up to date and running smoothly. Except... the Blu Ray disc reader? DVD/CD works fine, however when i insert a Blu Ray disc, it skips like two or three times and fails to read it. When i first purchased this laptop the of course everything worked fine but its just the darn blu ray disc reader and its bugging the ****** out of me. Some of my solutions was of course, restoring to factory setting and a complete update downloads. Then, after reading some other blog posts i have also tried going to the device manager and uninstalling the dvd/cd drive then restarting my computer. It successfully reinstall on its own when restart the laptop but again, only the ****** blu ray discs are not being read. My friend also tried something called driver rollback?  But it seemed very useless lol.. Im starting to believe that the reader is actually just broken but if so then wouldn't dvds and cds not work as well?? Please help Sony community! you guys are my last hope!

Hello RichO!Thank you so much for your response!!! And yes, it fails to read any/all blu ray disks..When i was trying to solve the problem I just popped in any blu ray movie in arms reach. One after another but the same problem kept on occurring. Then I tried only the movies that I have previously watch and knew worked before on my laptop, and none of them were able to be read either.

  • Best way to copy FCP-created Blu-ray Disc?

Tried using FCP7 to burn another copy of a Blu-ray disc a week after I burned the first copy. But since I didn't want to wait 16 hours for FCP to encode the Blu-ray files again, I copied the files off the first Blu-ray Disc I'd burned onto my desktop. Then, I inserted a blank Blu-ray Disc into my external burner and copied the desktop files onto it.
The new disc burned with those files ... but when I play it back in my Blu-ray player, there's no audio. Any ideas??

Try making a disk image from your original disc, then burning from that.
    1. Insert your disc and launch Disk Utility.
    2. Select your optical drive in Disk Utility.
    3. Choose File > New > Disk Image from<disk name>.
    4. Choose DVD/CD Master, press OK, and wait.
    5. Select your new image on the left, then press Burn in the toolbar.
Not sure if this process has changed for Blu-ray but I suspect not. The disk format for DVD and Blu-ray is UDF (not FAT32 or HFS+ which you get from a standard Finder burn).

  • Premiere Elements 12 does not recognize blank Blu-ray disc.

I just upgraded from Premiere Elements 8 to PRE12.  Now when I insert a blank Blu-ray disc in the BR burner, I get a message "Media Not Present".  It does recognize the burner, but not the blank disc.  Yet when I open PRE 8, PRE 8 does recognize this very same disc in the same burner!  Also, PRE 12 can burn a blank DVD in this same burner.  The Blu-ray disc also appears as a completely blank in Windows File Explorer.  And this is a problem even after updating to release 12.1.  The Adobe chat representative tells me this is a know issue with PRE12.    I find that difficult to accept, since why would Adobe change in PRE 12 something that was not broken? What's the truth, and when and how can it be fixed?

First, I tried uninstalling, register cleaning and reinstalling Premiere Elements.  This was a mess.  I kept getting error messages when trying to reinstall.  So I had to do a system restore to just before I uninstalled PRE.  After that restore, PRE would not open.  So I did another uninstall from Control Panel and reinstall, without touching the registry.  Then, I was back in operation, several frustrating hours later. But still the BR drive would not recognize Blu-ray discs.
So then I loaded a BR-RE disc, instead of a BR-R, and still no recognition.
Then I installed the external Blu-ray burner, and finally PRE12 recognized the blank Blu-ray disc.  I had a sign that this would work when I attached an external DVD drive to burn a AVCHD file, and PRE12 recognized the blank media, whereas it did not recognize any blank DVDs in the internal BR drive for burning AVCHD files.  As a alternative to borrowing an external BR drive to see if this fixes the Media not Present message, I suggest using a much more readily available external DVD drive and try to burn a AVCHD file first.  If that works, then one can be much more confident that purchasing an external Blu-ray drive will provide the solution.
Yet I deeply resent having to purchase a $125 piece of hardware, which is otherwise useless to me, to fix a bug in a program.  The box promises the ability to export a Blu-ray disc.  Since their lawyers use the weasel word "compatible" Blu-ray burner required, I fully expect them to take the position that now only an external burner is "compatible", and do nothing to fix the compatibility with internal burners.  Potential buyers be forewarned!
As an alternative to paying more money to make their software work as indicted on the box, one might want to settle for only being able to write AVCHD files to a DVD.  Most every computer (except Ultrabooks) has an internal DVD burner, which supposedly all that would be needed to burn this kind of HD file.  But first, we all need to know, will PRE12 return a Media not Present message when burning a AVCHD file to an internal DVD burner?  What are the field reports of any problems incurred doing this procedure?  Please advise.
And one more question.  When I burn an AVCHD file to a DVD, the DVD is not finalizied by PRE12.  After burning the AVCHD file, the DVD shows free space available, but after burning a DVD Video, there is no free space available.  Moreover, ImgBurn does finalize DVDs after burning AVCHD files to them.  So Is this failure by PRE12 to finalize another bug?  Can ImgBurn now finalize an unfinalizied AVCHD disc left by PRE12 -- without having to run another session of PRE to burn to a folder now, of course?  If so, how?

  • Problems creating Blu Ray Discs with AME Presets in CS4

After several weeks wasted (months back) with an ATI 5750 graphics card in Win 7/and CS4 (not working correctly) - I finally resolved by swapping with a NVidia GTS250 card .....but all my troubles are not over yet ....
I'm running Premiere CS4 and have finally just got down to testing creation of a Blu Ray test disc from some AVCHD 1920x1080 HD footage I am editing from my new camera.
My work in CS4 is just testing at present as I used to use CS3 [still have on my dual core machine with Matrox RTX2]  - and have successfully created Blu Ray discs from HDV material in CS3 - but using Blu Ray MPEG 2 settings.
    New machine Win 7 - 64 bit
Premiere CS4 is at 4-2-0 version
    Encore at 4-0-1 version
    These are the last updates
I've selected a short test piece (about 2 mins)on Premiere timeline and initially tried Media export using Adobe Media encoder.
I selected H264 BluRay codec in media encoder. Hi quality 1080 25 fps.(PAL)
This creates dual MP4 Video and Audio streams
Encode process goes OK, just slightly slower than real time, (I'm using i7-930 Quad Core and Win 7 64 Bit)
Now - when I come to input the encoded video file into Encore as an Asset - Encore freezes and the whole machine locks up !!!
Audio file imports OK but the Encore software does not like the encoded Video file
I've re-installed Premiere and Encore twice in case of bad install. It wasn't that.
I also found Adobe Media player couldn't play the file created by AME either - but it would play on a Premiere timeline?
So is Adobe Media encoder messing up here ?
So - .....3 hours of testing later ....I stumble on a Support thread from someone on the Forum that they found AME preset has "HIGH" in the Encoding Profile Preset - when it should be MAIN ?.
Not sure what these settings do - but tried changing that parameter and re-encoded the Video file with H264 BluRay setting - all to no avail as when I try importing again the machne just locks up ?
My final search in Premiere help file about creating BluRay discs ONLY talks about using MPEG 2 BluRay setting for creating BluRay discs
It does not specify H264. Why is that?
Can one of the moderators / experts confirm if H264 Blu ray format  is supported for BluRay disc creation in CS4 please??
Better still please tell me the exact settings for Adobe Media encoder so it will import into Encore without having to be transcoded again.
    H264 should work - yes ?
    Final comment
As an alternative method, I tried sending the short timeline in Premiere (using Dynamic Link)  to Encore to test that route for making a BluRay disc
Bearing in mind the sequence is only about 2 mins long - when I ty to Transcode using the engine within Encore - the process takes a ridiculously long time and twice it has crashed just before the end of the process......
Can someone explain why the encode process in Encore takes such a long time as I thought it used the Adobe Media encoder engine as well.?
Adobe Media Encoder is much faster used stand alone mode.
Encore seems to not use that ?
Anyway - conclusion is that using Encore to encode the tmeline is a non starter as it takes too long.
why so slow  on such a fast machine?....I know HD encoding is demanding but not that demanding with a decent machine.
    So the question is ....
How do I encode in the most efficient and fastest way possible (using H264)  for Blu Ray authoring into Encore without need for more Transcodes?
Any help or suggestions welcome as I'm now hitting my head against the wall :-)
    I have not gone through Adobe Support desk as it is usually a waste of time.{Dear VP of Adobe Customer Service - please do get this sorted out in the near future  if you want to retain loyal customers....}
I cannot believe how disappointing  CS4 is turning out to be.
After investing in a very fast PC machine etc the whole user experience is somewhat of a let down.
Why so many issues for such a small test??

Picking up on my original post about H264 - as I have a dual boot machine I also have a clean  installed Win 7 /64bit partition which I use for general bits of work.
On that I have CyberPowerDVD SW installed which plays all Video files fine including BluRay material etc.
Interestingly when I try to play the file that AME has created from the BluRay H264 preset it says 'It cannot play the file as it is a format it does not recognise...'
This is really weird and would suggest AME is not encoding the file corrrectly??
I have already removed and made a re-install of CS4 on my main [video editing] partition but there were some fragments of CS4 left intact
How do I completely remove everything?
I tried the CS4 clean script but it said it relied on Microsoft CLean Up utility and gave a link
When I loooked on Microsoft web site the link to download it had been removed?
Also Adobe say the CS4 remove script is no longer supported ?
Can anyone advise on the correct tool/procedure to completely remove CS4 from a Win 7/64bit installation so I can then try re-install of CS4 one more time....in case the installation is corrupt in some way
I can't explain why I am having this problem otherwise if other people find AME encodes OK with H264 BluRay preset.

  • How to create a blu-ray disc with multiple source files

    Hello,
How is it possible to create a blu-ray disc, AVCHD recordable DVD with multiple source files from Final Cut Pro 10. Is it possible to create a menu with several chapters corresponding to the sequences (source files)?
Thank you in advance for your support.

Assume you're talking about using the Create Blu-Ray batch template. It's not possible to do with multiple source filles. But if I understand your objectives, you could pretty much get what you think want – discrete movie segments on a single disk with navigation.
The way I'd approach it is by making multiple projects in FCP and then copying the finished versions into a new project, separated by gaps. (You could also use compound clips but I'm not a fan except for very short sequences, which is why I'm suggesting the copy route.) Then export and bring into Compressor.
In Compressor mark your chapters at the gaps between your individual sequences. Then choose the AVCHD option in job actions.
Bear in mind that you'll have to keep the recording time under roughly 30-35 minutes @a5 Mbts/sec
    Good luck.

  • I created a iMovie with photos, music and titles; shared it with the media browser and burned it on a DVD RDL. The disc will play on my MacBook Pro, but it will not play on my Samsung Blu-ray Disc Player or a smaller portable DVD player. Why?

I created an iMovie with photos, music and titles; shared it with the media browser and burned it on a DV+RDL. The disc will play on my MacBook Pro, but it will not play on my Samsung Blu-ray Disc Player or a smaller portable DVD player. Why?

Probably because they don't accept that media.
Try using Verbatim DVD+DL (if your project exceeds 2 hours) or Verbatim DVD-R if it doesn't.

  • Burning HDV movie to Blu-ray Disc

Hi there, I filmed an HDV movie edited it on HDV mode on Apple Final cut pro, I want to make a Blu-ray disc i was wondering if export on HDV mode and let the encore CS4 do the converting, or i render it on compressor to H.264 format or maybe Mpeg2 ? can anyone help please ?
im using Mac Pro I have the encore CS4 and i have a Blu-ray Burner
it is my first time that i will make Blu-ray Disc so if you have any suggestions please let me know
    Thank You

    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, from FCP, you will not have Adobe Dynamic Link. Also, being a PC-guy, I cannot tell you how well Encore might handle some other Apple CODEC's - maybe well, or maybe not. Now, in this case, I think that I would use FCP to Transcode to a 100% BD-compliant H.264, Export and then Import to Encore as a Timeline. Depending on the Duration of your FCP Timeline, you might want to download a bit-rate calculator and work out the bit-rate for your Export.
Good luck, and hopefully some Encore Mac-users will step up and give you more background on how well Encore handles all Mac formats/CODEC's.

  • PE 8 burns DVD, but not Blu-ray disc

I have recently updated to PE 8.01 but all of this took place before the  update. I successfully burned a 1 hour HD Blu-ray with no problem (all video from Canon HF200 and pictures from Canon Rebel xti). I then tried to burn a different project that was 2 1/2 hours long. In this disc, I did include a short AVI file from a camera (maybe this is why??). I had to cut video out because it kept telling me I didn't have enough room on the blu ray, even though my total was under the 25 gig storage capacity of the blu-ray disc. Each time I cut video/pictures it shut the program down and I had to restart the program about 6 times. I finally chose to compress to fit and it failed to burn to a blu-ray and blue screened our computer after 14 hours of enocoding and burning. Then I tried to compress it to a DVD and it burned successfully in 6 hours. I thought it might burn to blu-ray so I tried again and it blue screened our computer after 6 hours (it was 75% complete).
Computer is a HP Pavilion Elite. Intel I-9 processor, 12 gigs RAM, it has two 1 Terabyte hardrives, and has GPU invidia. I bought this computer ONLY to render HD to blu-ray DVD. It seems to take a long time and then blue screens my computer. Any suggestions?

The OS and drivers on a new PC are always out-of-date because the system master will have been created well before its sale. So do some of the basics first:
    Install all Windows updates
Install latest version of QuickTime (v7.6.6 at time of writing)
Install most recent graphics and sound drivers from the manufacturers web sites
Check for a firmware update for your Blu-Ray drive
    Run Disk Cleanup
    Run Defragmenter
Post back here with the necessary information described here: Got a Problem? How to Get Started
For your still photos check this article: What resolution should my photos be in Premiere Elements?

  • Encore 5.1 on OS 10.5.8 burns Blu-ray discs but crashes on DVD build of same project

I've spent a few weeks creating a dual-layered Blu-ray Disc with 20 menus and 44 timelines ranging in length from 9 seconds to 18 minutes.
The end product will be a dual pack containing both the replicated Blu-ray Disc and DVD.
I pre-transcoded both the BD and DVD and linked the assets appropriately. The Blu-ray Disc builds correctly and seems to not have any issues.
When I try to output to DVD Encore crashes almost immediately. I've also tried to save just a DVD image and it crashes in the same place.
I don't really want to recreate this entire program in DVDSP but that is my plan.
Any other ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

So I fixed the issue by deleting all the ac3 and m4v (including the linked m2v) files out of the timlines ans replacing with the orginal Self-Contained Reference Movies from FCP7. Then I let Encore transcode and build overnight, presto in the morning one working DVD.
Now I just need to transcode again for Blu-ray or revert to a backup...

  • How do I create Blu Ray Disc with DVD Studio Pro ?

Folks, I think that I'm in trouble... I created 3 HD projects with DSP (i do not have the tapes and fcp project anymore, neither the HDV 1080i mov file) and I need to be burned it with a Blu-Ray Media, and play it with a BR Player... So far I made the following steps:
1-) In FCP, I exported some Quicktime Movies with HDV 1080i60 codec (movie with chapters, menu bg movie, extras).
2-) In Compressor, I used the preset HD MPEG-2 19,0 MBPS for videos, and Dolby digital professional 2.0 for audios.
3-) In DSP I created a HD DVD Project (DISC window, GENERAL tab, DVD STANDARD = HD DVD; DISC WINDOW, DISC/VOLUME tab, DISC MEDIA = BLUE LASER, LAYER OPTION = OTP) with movies, extras, menus...
4-) In ADVANCE BURN (under FILE MENU) I chose BUILD.
5-) Now I got a HVDVD_TS folder, with my movie compilation...
NOW, my doubt is... The folder HVDVD_TS can be burned on a BR Media and be played on a BR Player ?
If not, what can I do with my HVDVD_TS folders to be compatible with Blu Ray ?
thanks a lot for any help.
    Best Regards
    Marcelo

That can't be done. Get the tapes back and start over. Get the new Toast in the tutorial I posted to make a Blu ray disc.
You could try this tool to demux the streams, transcode to QT then re-encode for Blu Ray but I wouldn't go that direction unless you know what your doing. You would also be encoding twice which is not good.
Get the original source back and go the toast route from the start.

  • Blu ray drive no longer recognizing dvds or blu ray discs

Until about a week ago I was able to read cds, dvds, and blu ray discs with my dv6 product number lm720av.  Windows 7 64 bit.  I put in a disc recently and it tries to read the disc for a couple of minutes before it stops trying and shows no disc in the drive.  I looked online and it looked like there were other instances of this happening but no one had a solution.  It can read cds but not dvd or blu ray at this point.  I tried uninstalling the optical drive via device manager and it uninstalled no problem then windows automatically found the drive and reinstalled the drivers which did not change the results.  I saw online people were suggesting running sfc under administrator mode in the command prompt.  No change.  Does this mean my blu ray diode failed?  I see two lenses in the drive, is one cd and the other a combo dvd/blu ray?  Any other suggestions?
I am about 3 weeks out of warranty on this laptop.

    Hi,
The following procedure will test if your notebook can start from a bootable disc in the CD/DVD drive - the advantage of trying this is that it will rule out any possible Windows driver error as the CD/DVD drive is under the control of the Bios when starting the notebook.  So if you find that the notebook will not boot from the DVD, then it's almost certainly a Hardware fault in the optical drive itself and it will need to be replaced.
Using another PC to create a Windows 7 Rescue CD and DVD.  Download the ISO from the link below.
    Windows 7 64bit
You need use an application such as ImgBurn to correctly burn the ISO to a DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  Once created, insert the DVD and then restart the notebook and see if it boots from this disc - if it does, let the first screen come up ( this will show repair options etc ) then just remove the DVD and restart.  If the notebook will not boot from the DVD, it will just load straight into Windows, in which case, just remove the DVD.
    Let me know.

  • Once and for all: Can DVD SP build Blu-Ray disc content or not?

    Maybe I’m crazy, but…
Everything I’ve heard to date has Apple backing the Blu-Ray format. Believing this, I just spent $900 on a new Lacie D2 external Blu-Ray burner (which IS Mac compatible). I also purchased Toast 8 (which IS Blu-Ray compatible).
All I need to do now is build my disc content (assign H.264 1920x1080 content, build menus, etc.) then drop it all into Toast and burn Blu-Ray video discs… right?
So what is all this I’m reading here about DVD Studio Pro supporting the HD DVD format and not Blu-Ray???!!!!!!
Am I going to be able to do this using DVD SP or not, and if not, can anybody tell me a program I can use to build my Blue-Ray disc content? (All of my HD content is H.264 (1920x1080) rendered directly from Adobe After Effects).
My deadline for this project is fast approaching and I’m hoping somebody can shed some light on this. If I can build Blu-Ray discs and burn them on my Mac using Toast 8 and the Lacie D2, I’ll make my deadline and justify the $900 spent thus far.
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks, SM

    Wait a minute,
Maybe I don’t need to buy PC to run DVDit Pro HD. I have a Mac Pro! With Boot camp I have a PC! Any reason I shouldn’t try running DVDit on my Mac via the Boot Camp beta? That way I'd also be using my Lacie D2 Bu-Ray drive. And with Roxio's 30 day return policy I haven’t much to loose...
I'm calling Roxio tech support. Let you know how it goes

    A LITTLE LATER:
Just got back from digging into Roxio's discussion forum and here's what I found:
I have travelled down the same frustrating path my friend!
But I did succeed doing it all on my new mac Pro, finally...
Install BOOTCAMP (free beta). Install WINDOWS XP ($269 from AMAZON). Install ULEAD BD RECORDER, which comes with DVD MOVIEFACTORY 6 (free trial, $80 to buy).
BDAV worked well from SONY V1-U burning to MATSHITA BD-MLT SW-5582 and played perfectly in new SAMSUNG 1200 palyer on my 57" DLP.
TIP - install BOOTCAMP et al on its own HD, and use NTFS... This will come in handy when doing a BDAV from a file such as HDV1080 that is larger than 4GB.
To do BDMV, you'll need SONIC DVD-IT PRO HD ($499) which I have yet to try...
Frustrating process, but kinda cool to figure it all out, especially when NOBODY in sales at any of these places seems to have a clue.
So there you go - must be possible
