Bluetooth on new MacBook Aluminum and all MacBooks before

I have a new Macbook Aluminum. Bluetooth frequently doesn't recognize my mouse and/or keyboard. Now that I have added a monitor the mouse and keyboard are connected but NOTHING happens on waking even though the bluetooth preferences shows it's connected, so I turn off/on bluetooth and sometimes one or the other actually works. I've had the new Macbook three weeks and bluetooth has disappeared completely four times requiring a battery out reset to get it back. Are there any fixes for a Macbook with what is obviously VISTA bluetooth?

Hello western:
Since your Macbook is new, punt the problem to Apple. Either take it to an Apple store, or call Applecare with a warranty issue.
The intermittent nature of the problem indicates, to me, a hardware issue.

  • Do I need to apply AC power to my new macbook before I power it up?

Do I need to apply AC power to my new macbook before I power it up?  I just bought it last Saturday (02/09/2013) ... and I'm just now getting to use it.  I've not turned it on and there are no instructions on the subject of "applying AC power" or the opposite before powering the unit up for the first time.
    Thanks.

You should connect the AC charger so the battery can be charged all the way. But you can still power it up without it.

  • I just downloaded the new operating system and all my apps are in the App store I cannot move them out and create the icons for them I can just open them

I just downloaded the new operating syaytem and all my apps are STUCK in the app store . I can open them in the app store but can NOT creat icons with them only open them

If they are in your iTunes library, sync them back to your phone.  If not, restore your iCloud backup.  If you don't have one, you'll have to redownload them as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519 (however this will not restore your app data).

IOS is the operating system for an iPhone, or an iPad, I assume you mean OSX as this is a Mac forum.
What version did you update from, and to.

    Hello Brian Delaney,
It sounds like you are trying to send emails but for some reason, thousands show activity. I would start by re indexing the mailbox to help troubleshoot the issue:
    1.Quit Mail if it’s open.
2.In ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData, delete any file that begins with “Envelope Index,” such as Envelope Index or Envelope Index-shm.To show your home Library folder, hold down the Option key, then in the Finder choose Go > Library.
3.Open Mail.Mail creates new Envelope Index files. This process may take a few minutes, depending on how many messages Mail is reindexing.
    Mail (Mavericks): Reindex messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14876
If the issue persists, I would next remove the account, restart the computer, and re add the account:
1.Choose Mail > Preferences, then click Accounts.
2.Select an account, then click Remove.
    Mail (Mavericks): Remove mail accounts
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14944
Removing an Exchange or IMAP account doesn’t permanently delete the account’s mailboxes and messages because they’re stored on the mail server. To retrieve the account’s mailboxes and messages from the server, add the account again in Mail.
To add the account again, click the  rather than the  as described above and retest the issue.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Joe

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)

  • Apple Bluetooth Keyboard + new MacBook Pro incompatible on wake from sleep

    Hello all
I've seen a few discussions on the web re this issue, but no resolutions.
I've been using a 4 year-old (white) Apple Bluetooth Keyboard for some time with my Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro and never had an issue with it. Just upgraded to a new Core i5 Unibody MacBook Pro and I'm having problems.
Everything's fine on startup but as soon as my MBP goes to sleep and I wake it back up, I get repeating keystrokes (even though I'm not touching any keys) and the keyboard is unusable until I physically turn it off and then on again.
Just to preempt the responses I've seen to this issue elsewhere: (1) the keyboard's batteries are good, (2) the keyboard still operates perfectly if I associate it with the old MBP, but as soon as I associate it back to the new one the issues are still there, (3) there is nothing causing radio interference around my desk (and as I said it works fine with the older mac).
Does anyone know of any bluetooth issues on new MacBook Pros that could cause this?.
Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help with this issue.
    Darren

It's not a solution more an observation, but the newer bluetooth (aluminium) keyboards and magic trackpads do not exhibit this behaviour (so it looks like it's specific to that older keyboard for some reason)

  • I got a new computer today and all of my music is gone but it's still on my ipod, how can I get it all on my computer?

I got my new laptop today and my music is missing though it's still on my ipod. How do I get it all back on m computer?

The iPhone is not a backup device. Did you not back up your computer?
If the music was purchased from the iTunes store, you can re-download it without charge. Otherwise, you will need to invest in 3rd party software to try and extract it from the phone.

  • I downloaded the new Itune SW and all my music is gone.  How do I recover it?

I downloaded the new Itune SW and it wiped out all my music, how do I recover?

    Hello mikgius,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The following article outlines the exact symptom you provided, and a potential resolution:
No content shows up in iTunes after updating

If the above did not resolve your issue, you may want to refer to this article:

  • Bluetooth problems, new MacBook Pro

I am using an older bluetooth mighty mouse with a 2013 MacBook Pro 13" (Mt. Lion).
The bluetooth will randomly hang, I cannot toggle it on or off from the bar; and it takes a long time (~20 sec) for the menu to respond or to go to the "Bluetooth" section of "About this Mac".
I can't use the mouse set up either.  It says the mouse is connected.
The only fix is to restart the machine.
I have noticed that the Name of the machine is unavailable when the bluetooth crashes.
Bluetooth working (notice the MLA130005 name)
Bluetooth NOT working (randomly ceases to work) Notice the machine name is not available.
    Any advice?
    Thanks
MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application uninstaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • HELP! I just updated my iphone 4s to the new ios7 software, and all of my photos have disappeared!!!

    Hi All,
Having a slight panic.  I just updated my iphone 4s to the new software...was transferring my photos to my iphoto app on my macbook.  I then realised that ALL of my recent photos (including albums) were no longer in my camera roll etc....
I cannot remember if I backed up before doing so (pretty sure I did) but I have tried using Wondershare Dr.Fone to recover them as well as searching my backup library on my macbook.
They MUST be somewhere?!  Can anyone help??
I realised suddenly when all the recent 100s of photos on my iPhoto were blank...!

    Hey Gavinchick,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues after updating your iPhone to iOS 7.0.6. If you have not already done so, you may want to restart or reset the device:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you'll want to restore your device with iTunes in recovery-mode:
iOS: Unable to update or restore
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If your device is not recognized in iTunes for Windows while in recovery-mode, see this article (specifically Step 4):
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
