Bluetooth Whooshing Sound?

On my new iPhone 4 whenever I use the Bluetooth in my car (with it's built in bluetooth) there is a strange whooshing sound that varies in volume and sometimes goes away completely. It wasn't an issue with my previous phone but now when I call people from my car they notice it -- usually asking if I have the A/C on. Any ideas for what I can do to fix this?

  • Rapid alarm sounds followed by rapid whooshing sounds

I have a macbook air and within the last few months when I am on the internet, I hear rapid dinging alarm like sounds followed by rapid whooshing sounds as if hundreds of emails are sending when I have no emails to send.  Has this happened to anyone else?  Has my computer been hacked?  I am on my second new credit card due to someone hacking my credit card but was luckily caughter by Barckley Credit Card.  Maybe I am connecting two separate issues.

    Doubtful it's a security issue ...
Check System Preferences > Sound > Sound Effects
Deselect:  Play user interface sound effects

  • Bluetooth headphones sound terrible

I just purchased a pair of Philips SHB7000 bluetooth headphones and they sound absolutely terrible when paired with my Lenovo Yoga 10 tablet. Worse than an AM radio. But when I use these headphones with my PC or my Galaxy tab or my HTC One phone (all via bluetooth), it sounds great. When I try other bluetooth headphones with my Lenovo Yoga, they sound fine as well. It is this particular combination of this headphone with this tablet that it is unlistenable. Ironically, I bought these headphones specifically so I could watch videos and listen to music on the Lenovo Yoga, which is the one combination of device and headphones that does NOT work.
Any ideas why only this combo has a problem?  I asked Philips and they were completely unhelpful and pointed the finger at Lenovo.

I'm starting to think my next tablet is going to be from another manufacturer... :-(
Thanks for finding that older post.  That's really disappointing but sadly, not surprising.  I have to agree with you, my next tablet will definitely NOT be a Lenovo.  I've had a lot of problems with this tablet, this being the latest problem.  For example, I've found several apps that work with all my devices but not with the Lenovo.  Like I can't use it for Hangouts and Skype.  It also crashes a lot.  Often times I go to use it and it has shut itself off and I have to boot it.  And sometimes it won't charge because it starts draining faster than the charge, even when it is plugged into the outlet.  So this tablet is really quite useless and I'm looking for a replacement.
    Thanks for letting me vent...

  • Since I have updated to 10.7.4 my Bose Sounlink Bluetooth speaker sound very low

Since I have updated to 10.7.4 my Bose Sounlink Bluetooth speakes sounds very low.. OK with iPhone  and iPad

This happened to me exactly! What I did was I went into Audio MIDI and clicked on Bose Soundlink tab. You'll see 3 bars; master, 1 & 2. Max out all the bars and that should fix the problem. Hope that works for you.

  • 'Whoosh' sound heard when sending an email, immediately...

When I send an email with a particulary large attachment (I have a slow internet connection) I often hear the 'whoosh' sound played immediately, even though it's quite clear the email coulnd't have possibly been sent so quickly.
I think this has led to me sending an email, hearing the 'whoosh' sound and immediatley shutting my Macbook lid, putting it to sleep. Subsequently, the email never gets sent until I open Mail on my Macbook again.
This is annoying because I've 'sent' an important email recently, and then found it never reached its recipient and was sitting in the Mail outbox when I used my Macbook a few hours later.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks, in advance
*This issue didn't seem to occur when my Macbook was running OS X Lion.

    How is this iPhone related?

  • Audio just a whooshing sound in PP CS5

Last night I created a sequence by importing a group of downloaded YouTube videos.  I finished the editing and it looked and sounded great.  I saved the project figuring I would go back to in the morning and export it.  When I reopened the project today everything looked the same but when I played it the audio all the way through is just making a wind-like whooshing sound.  The meters read the audio and when I click the mute button on the audio track it silences the whooshing.  I then tried importing a different track, totally unrelated to my project but got the same result.  The video files all play perfectly in Adobe Media Player and in QT and VLC.
Any ideas what this could be?
    Thanks,
    Paul

There is obviously an issue. The 44.1KHz is the CD standard, where 1000Hz is not at all normal.
Now, you state that when working on the Audio, things were fine, until you shut the system down. Is that correct?
When you Imported the AV files, did you get the little progress bar on Conforming, in the lower-right of the GUI?
In the Media Cache for that Project, do you have matching CFA files (the Conformed Audio)?
As a workaround, can you rip the Audio from the AV files, and then do a Save_As PCM/WAV 48KHz 16-bit? You would then Import those WAV files, replacing just the Audio of the Clips (Alt+clicking on the Audio portion). One could also just drag those WAV files to a free Audio Track, and Mute the Audio Track with those "whooshing" files.
If you have Soundbooth, or Audition, they can most likely rip the Audio, and all you then need to do is a Save_As. If you do not have either, the great, free audio-editor, Audacity, should be able to do it, as well. Just use the above specs. for the PCM/WAV files.
    Good luck,

  • My send and receive email works fine over wi-fi in the US but when I am in Europe I can only receive emails. My iPad tells me that the emails i have typed have been sent (the whooshing sound) yet they are never received. Anyone have any ideas please?

In the US, my iPad 2 sends and recieves email over wi-fi without problems, yet when I am in Europe, I can receive emails over wi-fi without issue, yet the emails that I send (get the whooshing sound) never arrive.
I have input a valid local smtp address yet that still get no results.
Has anyone had the same issue and found a workable solution please?

    Who is your email provider?
If you use an independent email provider (not tied to any specific ISP) such as GMail or iCloud, you'll have no problems sending email from any location or network, without having to change any outgoing SMTP servers to local ones.

If this is related to sending emails, then you can turn off the send sound: Mail > Preferences > General. Now uncheck Play sounds for other mail actions.
If this is related to iMessage, then iMessage > Preferences > Alerts > uncheck Play a sound:
If the " whoosh" sound continues, System Preferences > Audio > Sound Effects. Uncheck Play user interface sound effects.

  • I've lost the 'whoosh' sound when I send mail.  How do I get it back?

I used to have a 'whoosh' sound when I sent mail but it has disappeared.  How do I get it back?  I'm using a version 10.9.1 Maverick upgrade.

Thanx Tony T1.  I have been having issues with mail ever since I 'upgraded' to Mavericks.  Why doesn't Apple leave things alone?  Now I often can't scroll in Mail and have to shut down and restart Mail to get it to work.  That never happened until the Mavericks 'upgrade'.

  • IMac 2011 & 10.8.5 - now bluetooth and sound dead!

    Hello,
i upgraded my 2011 iMac from 10.8.4 to 10.8.5 and after the reboot bluetooth and sound are gone!
So I did a PRAM reset, now I have the startup sound but still no sound or bluetooth under mac osx? Magic Mouse still works, but without scrolling and so on... So it seems 10.8.5 is really messed up!
    Any ideas to fix that?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test Bluetooth while in safe mode. Sound won't work. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Whoosh sound is very weak

Since I upgraded to Yosemite, the whoosh sound has become disproportionately weak, compared to the strength of other sounds, such as the one for receiving new email. Yes, I can always increase the general volume, but that will make the other sounds uncomfortably strong. This was not the case up to the previous version of OS X and Mail.

I had a similar problem with my old iPhone 4. What I did was cut the speaker mesh off the phone and was amazed by the difference but first I would check that somehow you hadn't set a volume limit on it if it is while trying to listen to apps or music.

  • Text Whoosh Sound

Since doing the IOS6 upgrade I have lost the whoosh sound that happens when a text is sent is there any way of getting it back please

You can set up specific sounds for specific functions.  If you take a look at the IOS 6 PDF Manual there is a section on setting up specific sounds.  The manual can be viewed on iBooks or you can just go look at the manual on a computer at the Apple web site.  I get the whoosh sound by default on my iPhone 5 when I send email.  I don't recall if that sound occurs while sending a text.

  • What happened to the whoosh sound on my outgoing mail?

What happened to the whoosh sound onmy outgoing mail?

    Dear Scotch27:
i am so sorry it did not work for you!  I know, it is really really frustrating, as i have been having this problem for many months!  I have not gotten Mountain Lion yet...maybe i won't!  LOL!
btw, i got this reply from another poster, on a similar forum, so i copied it here to see if it would work for you...it didn't for me, but it did, for many other posters:
Go to applications/utilities and run Audio Midi Setup.  Click the Builtin output link in the left pane click the down arrow next to the right-mast element after "Format" and change to something else, then back to what you originally had there.  All pent-up sounds will come rushing through your speakers and you'll be OK with Mail sounds until it happens again.  This worked for me in OS X 10.7 Lion; the problem seems to have been fixed in OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.  Good luck!
this post was from Chazcone, in a discussion question: "Re: "New Message" sound not playing in mail 5"....i really hope it works for you!  i think it is ridiculous, that this is obviously a KNOWN bug somewhere within apple mail (icloud?), but no one has seriously looked into it, and/or fixed it, most especially in the new ML!!!  let me know what happens, and i will pass along anything else i find to you re: this issue....good luck, and so sorry my "solution" didn't work for you!
