Blurred text with camera movements

Hi All
I am sure that someone has solved this matter, but I couldn't find any post to it. I am animating my camera in which it moves fast towards a text and beyond it. Unfortunately, when I come close to the text, it blurs & pixelate. My first thought was to adjust the focal length of the camera, but there is no settings for that, is there? Then I played with the NEAR settings but they don't really address the issue, they merely give me an option to cheat a bit. Then I saw I can 'rasterize' the text layer in motion, again I am not aware of the settings being in motion, and NOW I am about to try Photoshop rasterized test and import the file into motion. So please stop me from further experimentation and share a clue or two o how to avoid the text burring when I move the camera towards it. Thanks in advance.

Cheers Mark. Thanks.
In fact, I thought when you export the sequence, it would set it automatically to high, but it doesn't. Now, I know ... and for everyone out there, in case you didn't know, you can leave the render quality even low while you are designing the sequence, but don't forget to set it to high before you export.

  • Baking a Layer with Camera Movement

Picking up on my adjacent post...
I'm trying to bake a layer in a project that has camera movement... we start on a man in closeup and then we zoom out to a long shot. But if I turn off the camera, the man is in closeup and stays that way. Baked and imported into the project, you'll have just the man's head when the camera pulls back in the live project.
With the camera on during baking, there's the move. But now import that into the project, and the camera motion is double applied -- the baking time and the live time.
    How is this done?
Thanks very much for your help.

You can export the layer with the camera turned on, which will "bake in" the camera move, then when you bring it back in, put it in a 2D group so that it's not affected by the project camera.

  • Blurred text with mac mini   24" LCD

    Hi,
both my mac mini's (2010 and 2011) have blurred test when connecting via HDMI or the HMDI --> DVI cable to my Acer S240HL 24" 1080p monitor.
I've set the display to 1080p in the mac settings.
I've read a lot about the HDMI implementation is poor on the mac mini and the best option is to use VGA!    VGA!?    Really?
I've also tried the command line
defaults -currentHost write -globalDomain AppleFontSmoothing -int 2
    to no avail.
    I'm running 10.8.3.
Any other ideas?  Perhaps I'm just too used to the retina display on my iPad/iPhone!
    Thanks in advance.

Personally I think that your best connection would be either (the HDMI to DVI Adapter or a MiniDisplay Port to DVI adapter) and a good DVI cable, because that's what works best with my 2010 Mac Mini using both LG and Samsung monitors.
For blurry text and/or faded colors, go to: Apple > System Preferences > Accessiblity > Display and check to make sure that your Enhance Contrast: slider is set to Normal.

  • Fcpx canon xa10 bad video stutter with camera movement

    Hi
I am using a canon xa10- european model PAL, pf25 and 50i frame rates with fcpx 10.5
All of the imported clips stutter with any panning movement.
I have tried to convert to apple ProRes 422 hq with 3rd party software, it makes no difference to the clips.
There are many discussions on the xa10's problems with the way xa10 frame rate recording is deceptive, but there are no real guides on what frame rates to use, 25 of 50, 1080p or 1080i, progressive checkbox etc.
Also fcpx is reading PAL footage as NTSC
Any help is appreciated to cut out the bad stutter
    Cheers

  • Blurred Text With Lower Resolution

I have a question regarding lower than maximum resolution. When I change it in the displays control panel to anything other than 1280x854 the text and the screen in general isn't sharp and clear. Anyone else experience this?

This is due to the nature of LCDs. Unlike CRT monitors, LCDs have a fixed number of pixels, that is, there are physically 1280x854 LCD pixels in the screen. When you try to run at a lower resolution, the LCD has to dither the resolution down to where each physical pixel no longer forms a single pixel that you see on screen for that given resolution...if that makes sense.
The bottom line is, LCD look their best at their native resolutions. In your case, this is 1280x854. Anything less will look fuzzy and less sharp, so what you're seeing is completely normal.

I was in a conversation with a colleague and a text (identical) came to both of our phones, when he researched it, it said it was blocked and I thought I might see where it came from through my phone. Is it possible to get a spam like that to our phones at the same time.If the text came to my number marked from him, it could only have been from him?. Is there a possibility that someone else sent it to both of us at the same time?

Yes, it could be spam. I get spam text from time to time. Yes, you both could have gotten the same spam at the same time. Spammers re sending out thousands and thousands of messages.

  • Cannot transfer videos taken from my Canon camera(MOV files) to the iPad 4. They have previous with no problems at all. Is this an update issue?

Cannot transfer videos taken from my Canon camera(MOV files) to the iPad 4. They have previous with no problems at all. Is this an update issue? I tried to sync them over using iTunes last night but it says that they cannot be played on the device. But they have previously

1, you can't at the moment, though with iOS 5 in the Autumn, from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos :
Even organize your photos in albums — right on your device
2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad

  • 3D - best way to have environment move with camera pan?

    Hello,
I haven't been using Motion 3 much because of the speed issue on my G5, but I'm going to get a new Mac Pro and I'm starting to dig more into Motion 3 to prepare for the transition.
I'm wondering if some of you folks who have a lot of Motion 3 experience can explain (or point to) the best technique for 3D environment.
In a real 3D application, like Cinema 4D, you create a sphere, put a texture on it, have it encompass your entire scene so that when your camera moves around the scene and pans, the "sky" moves as it should.
Since Motion 3 isn't meant for this, is there a plug-in or cheat for this? I was thinking I could create six planes and arrange them in a cube and surround the scene that way, but I don't know how that would look.
If anyone has a link to a good tutorial or has any tips, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your time, as always.
    Regards,
    Scot

    Thanks, Mark.
I just ordered my Mac Pro. I should get it next week!

  • Camera move stutter in motion

having a problem with rendered motion projects with an irregular stutter in camera moves in a couple of 1080i motion 5 projects, i have a key frame animated view point camera doing some relatively fast moves over 3d objects. the objects are PSD files, both images and PSD text. the moves are basically ease in, ease out, both horizontal and vertical.
it's not simply the stutter one gets with a credit crawl... i.e. too few frames over too fast a motion... rather it's inconsistent, every 6th frame or so, a small jump back or repeated frame. i have tried every export setting combination i can think of, best, normal, motion blur, frame blending, inderlaced, progressive adjusting the project shutter angle, etc. i'm exporting at pro res 4444. and the stutter is present there as well as when i transcode to .h264
i have the latest update of motion from the other day, ATI 5870 and 18Gb of ram on an 8 core mac pro, running os 10.8
any thoughts how i can get rid of this stutter?  thanks!

thanks, so much for the reply! sadly i'd tried both to no effect. I had been using the mountain lion beta; not sure how or why it would have affected motion, but i just got the newest ML beta and preliminary results seem to promissing. i'll test it out with someo of the earlier projects and report back. thanks again!

  • I have Video camera movies that are HD format.. I am doing editing work on them using Final Cut Pro, but using DV PAL format for the projects I am editing. When I then tried to copy my work done in FCP Project that's originally DV PAL , into a new FCP Pro

I have Video camera movies that are HD format.. I am doing editing work on them using Final Cut Pro, but using DV PAL format for the projects I am editing. When I then tried to copy my work done in FCP Project that's originally DV PAL , into a new FCP Project that is HD, and tried reconnect media with original HD movies (video), the sequence project got distorted for all the text, shapes used and all.. everything changed its orientation and scale.. Is there a way by which I can preserve my work done on DV PAL and switch it preserving its proportions, scale and orientation, but on a HD project sequence?? Appreciate your help and advice..

Yes.  A couple of ways that might work.
    First Way
What you need to do is load one of your hd clips in the viewer and edit into a new HD sequence.  Does it display correctionly?
OK, select the clip in the hd timeline and copy (command-c).  Now go to the HD sequence with the material that's distorted.  Select all (command-a) and paste attributes (option-v) and choose basic motion and distort.  That should maek things work.  What won't work is anything that you've adjusted as far as basic motion or distort in your PAL sequence.  That I'm pretty sure you'll have to redo.
    Second Way.
Choose your original PAL sequence and do a Media Manage changing the sequence preset to the appropriate HD paramenters with the media offline.  You then should be able to reconnect these clips with your original HD media.

  • Standard motion blur on 3d camera uses premature frame samples

Hi there everyone, I was wondering if anyone has ever noticed the following issue:
I have created a couple of 3D layers in AE "space", having a camera zip panning and tilting from one to the other. We're talking like 15 frames rotation moves, so worth a little blurring. Now AE creates a very nice motion blur on those zippy camera moves, be it that half of the sixteen samples needed to calculate the motion blur are taken from the frames yet to come (?????) So, especially in a 'banking' kind of rotation, causing an over time calculated spin blur, the blur itself pops in even before the camera has moved (it's like five frames 'ahead').
Does anyone of you have a similar experience? Is there a workaround without having to create every blur manually?
Oh, by the way, CC Force Time blur crashes on this because it does not like certain effects I used, like Text Anarchy and a couple of standard AE effects (??)
Please help me out on this one. It's easy to recreate this issue: create a new comp, throw in a camera and a video layer and have this video layer rotating round its Z-axis once in a five frames duration, in linear interpolation. Now switch on motion blur for this layer and the timeline. You will notice the blur appears before the video layer has started rotating and when the rotation has stopped, the motion blur is long gone. Appreciate any help, thx.

Hi Mylenium and thanks for taking the time. I appreciate it a lot, certainly when a known AE guru like you picks up a question like this one.
Unfortunately, though I have tried every offset in steps of 90 degrees up to 720, but the problems persists. Maybe a bigger offset helps? Or a negative one (if possible, haven't tried yet...)
I don't think this would be of any importance, but the layers I use are mainly AE generated text layers.... but now that I think of it, the entire camera move was imported from Cinema 4D, so every timeline frame is a lineair camera keyframe as well... 546 frames, and thus 546 keyframes for the poor 3D cam... could that be messing up the motion blur calculation.....?
I guess I will try that right after dinner. Thanks again so far, I feel honoured.

  • Animate text with lines in between?

    Hi guys,
This is my very first question on this forum. It's also the very first time I'm working with After Effects (CS6).
Now I have the following question. Does anyone know how to animate some text with lines in between so that it sort of 'rotates'? Exactly like in the video that is shown below.
I know that it has something to do with strokes, but I can't quite figure it out.
    Thanks for the help!

Make the text layers layers 3D. Orient them all to the camera. Parent them to a 3D null. Rotate the null and the text will now move around as it does in your sample video.
Leave the beam layers 2D but change the expression for the Beam Starting and Ending point to this:
    L = thisComp.layer("TextLayerName");
    L.toComp(anchorPoint);
Change the name in quotes to match your text layer name. This needs to be different for each text layer.
Set the Anchor Point and Position value of the layer with the beam effect to 0, 0. This is fixes an alignment problem with the beam points.
Add this expression to the Y rotation property of your text layers:
    - thisComp.layer("Null 1").yRotation
There you go. I told you it was more complicated. The first expression transforms the 3D space of the text layer to the 2D space of the Beam layer so that matches the position in the 2D plane of the composition. You'll have to use the baseline offset in the text palette to make horizontal adjustments in the position of the end of the beam. If you want to control both horizontal position and vertical position relative to the end of the beam you'll need to add an Anchor Point text animator. (check the help files).
The rotation expression rotates the layer in the opposite direction of the null. This keeps the text pointing to the camera. If you want to move the camera around you'll need different expressions.
