BMP file corrupted - split in 2 and reversed

I am using Captivate 3 - we had to recreate a simulation
because of an interface change. The size of the new interface was
not compatible with our template size, so we captured the software,
resized it and imported it into the original cp file. The
background images appear fine in edit mode, but not in preview, nor
when published. I exported the bmp file, it would not open in
Fireworks (incorrect parameters was the error message). When I
opened it in Paint, 25% of the left side of the image was attached
to the right side of the image. I think this explains why we can't
see it in preview or publish, but have no idea how this could have
happened.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
Thanks
Helen

Hi ndbob - I don't think that the loss of quality would be too noticeable actually, but yes you can easily divide an imovie into two parts. This is from the iMovie Help Menu:
"Importing video from another iMovie HD project
You can copy individual video and audio clips, and even a whole movie or a portion of a movie (including any transitions, titles, and effects), from one iMovie HD project to another.
To copy video between iMovie HD projects:
Open the project from which you want to copy clips or a portion of your movie.
Select the clips and choose Edit > Copy.
Open the iMovie HD project that you want to copy into.
Choose Edit > Paste.
You can also drag clips from one iMovie HD project directly to the Clips pane, clip viewer, or timeline viewer in another iMovie HD project."
Hope that helps.

  • Can "jpeg+raw" imported single file be split into jpeg and raw files?

    I manage to choose to import my jpeg and raw pictures as single jpeg+raw files accidentely. What means with this format? can I split this "jpeg+raw" pictures into jpeg and raw again? If you edit a jpeg+raw picture are you just working with the raw file, I mean I saw that I could change the exposure on the file which you only can do on raw files. Is it a bad idea to import jpeg and raw pictures as a single file? I really don´t understand the properties of this "jpeg+raw"-file
    /Magnus Lightroom rookie

    With RAW+JPEG, the JPEG is only used for the initial Library view, prior to generating previews from the RAW file. Once you have generated previews and/or developed the image, the JPEG is unused. The edits you make won't affect the JPEG at all. It is, however, still tied to the RAW as metadata, so deleting the JPEG will flag your image as having problems (and list it as "missing" even though it's very clearly in your catalog). Tuning off the option to handle RAW+JPEG together in preferences won't fix past combo images, but it will avoid making this idiotic mistake in the future. After turning it off, export your metadata to the RAWs, then delete them from the library (not the disk) and then reimport them without the JPEGs. Peace will rule the world.

  • ALL Files corrupted including (JPG's and Photoshop 6)on Hard drive w/ OS9

    I am new to this forum as of now; so I hope i can ask the right way!
    I have(HAD) a iMac G3 DV slot with 10GB hard drive(Running only OS 9.2.2)- That i had to take in for repair (turned out to be bad video card or something) - BUT: The repairman corrupted ALL my files!!! (That iMac is gone now- but i have the left over drive(laying here for 2 years or so now) with MANY original photos - Before I had any other external drives or other Mac's to back up on) I can see the directory and open folders but the applications like Photoshop CAN NOT recognize a simple JPG or PSD or anyother file.
    How i know this is: I (finally could) put the hard drive inside my (new) POWERMAC G4 MDD and tried to access Norton Disk DR to repair files, but it would not work I guess because OS X tiger overrides OS 9 classic/ BUT the hard drive itself is apparently fully functional and could be reformatted and used. (NOTE:I did get a replacement iMac G3 DV model with new hard drive)
    I have tried everything and i have searched online for answers( til I am literally blue in the face!)
    I am at a brick wall.
    the only thing I think I could try is; take apart my old FUNCTIONAL iMac G3 and stick in the corrupted hard drive and try to boot up from the NORTON SYSTEM WORKS Disc for OS 9 and run Disk DR.
    - Taking apart the machine seems like a bunch of risky work, but my files are UNREABLE and therefore unusable - lost.
    does any one have any ideas? and is swapping hard drives and trying to boot up with Norton worth it?

    Richard:
    *_This sounds logical about using the firewire to send the drive info to the iMac. The only part i think I will still have problem with is STARTING UP IN TARGET MODE_*.
    That was one of those issues i ran into with trying to get the old disk to run while _in MDD_.
    I also checked my software box and i _was mistaked about what software came with_ my Compact Flash cards; it is just for memory cards recovery. and it was Not DR II_.
    i tried to email you: but truthfully i do not know how these forums work too much. and i have a big wiggly cat tring to take over my keyboard as i speak!
    *My question first;* *is HOW CAN I GET A START UP IN TARGET MODE ( OR WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? IF I HAVE A OS9 HD INSIDE THAT IS ILL?)
    _I GET THE IDEA OF USING THE IMAC AS A HOST FOR THAT ILL DRIVE_. BUT FROM ALL THAT HOURS AND HOURS OF WORK I DID FROM THIS MDD MACHINE _I QUESTION IF "I" AM CAPABLE OF CONTROLING THE MACHINE TO DO WHAT YOU SUGGESTED....?_ with TRAGET mode start up?
    if you have any hints to help me "get it", i think (along with this cat here) we can give a good effort!
    Also, I will check into the free part of Data Rescue II, and see if that can be used.
    I want to try this before any SURGURY!!
    *AND yes you are sure right about the "NORTON FOUND ERROR" and "MACHINE IS QUITTING NOW" thing, that stonewalled me in sorts while i was trying to use it on this MDD, but the other man(JEFF) said i could not use CLASSIC MODE with my Norton OS 9 program anyway. but I hacked at it for long enough!
    THANKS So much.
    I will take it one thing at a time at this point. everyone is being great with this info!
    I think us MAC folks are great anyway.
    **I saw on CNN tonight that in the amount of emails sent every day - 2 million per second are sent and 70% is spam and virus. THAT IS the WIndows OS world for you. the spam i understand to a point, they're selling some crap. but virus activity is well; counter productive and I have things to do that are productive. (confession; i do have a cheap, windows xp laptop too)
    -- SO IN MY QUEST FOR HELP HERE: THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE reached out to me so far (and I appologise for my lack of OS X knowledge) it hasn't helped i have been feeling ill myself! but i try to keep at it.

  • "foxit" took a notion to auto update - Adobe will no longer open scanned .bmp files

    So, Foxit had apparently been installed on a users PC for some time. It decided to update itself over night? Anyway, the woman came in the next morning and Adobe Reader was no longer installed, assuming foxit had uninstalled it *so thankful*. Foxit would open the .bmp files and allow view as a pdf. Of course Adobe is what she was used to and needed.
    So,
    Re-installed Adobe reader XI
    Scanned files would open normally from .bmp and give an option to "save as pdf" - (I'm not sure what she was able to open the files in (im assuming adobe))
    After the Adobe re-install this will not work any more. I've taken the scanned .bmp file straight from the scanner and set it to .pdf and get error message " either not a supported file type or the file has been damaged. could have been sent as email and has been decoded incorrectly"
    Could this have anything to do with fox it changing something?
    *I've set .bmp file association to default to reader*

    I can't tell exactly what you have going there but Adobe Reader does not and never has opened .bmp files. So whatever you were using to open the bmp and save to pdf is what is having the problem here. That wouldn't be Adobe Reader but something else.

    You can't just take a .bmp file and change the extension to .pdf. That is why Reader is giving you that error.
    Assuming I understand what you are asking here...
    Also, I would strongly suggest that the user disallow updates like that happening when she doesn't give permission first. Set an administrator password that has to be entered before the update. Not doing that is a recipe for disaster.

  • Logic File Corruption

    I wanted to share my experience with other people that might be looking for an explanation for file corruption under Logic.
    For many months I was experiencing frequent file corruption under Logic Pro and I could'nt find what was causing it.... until now.
    FYI, unfortunately I still haven't found a way to fix the corrupted files. As far as I know, they're doomed.
    I would work on a song for a few hours, withouth any glitch, then close the file.
    When I would open the file again and start playing it, all my audio would go crazy (loud sounds and noise blasting through my headphones).
    The file was doomed, corrupted and no way to fix it. I would have to start from an older backup and loose all recent changes.
    Did lots of research on the web withouth success. I thought the culprit might be some of the virtual instrument I was using, including a new one I installed recently called, "Myroslav Philarmonic".
    It was not.
    I finally realized I had "Time Machine" running every couple of hours for backups, and it was corrupting any opened Logic files!!!
    Lost so much time over this.
    Hope it might help someone in the same situation.
    Sly

    Thanks Erik,
    This was easy and solved it.  I knew it had to be an easy solution I just overlooked. Keep up the great work!

  • Files Corrupted on Timeline and Causing Crash--PE4

    Greetings all.
    PE4 has always been crash-happy on my machine, the specs of which I list:
    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @2.66GHz
    RAM: 4GB DDR2
    OS: Win7 x64 service pack
    Graphics card: nVidia GeForce GT 520 (2GB)
    Harddrive: 1TB (Seagate, I think...could be Western Digital) with 645GB free space
    From the threads I've read, I've seen that nVidia cards can sometimes cause problems with Adobe software, so that could be part of the general crash problem. My driver is the latest (updated today, 7/3/13.)
    Anyway, I've begun encountering a problem with a 33-minute-long animated film I've been editing in PE4. The movie has a lot of material on the timeline because all the animated video clips were split up with freeze frames in post-production to sync footage with dialog, and then there are a bunch of short sound effect clips on top of that plus music. Total, I have two video tracks and 8 audio tracks. I published the movie as an MPEG to my computer last night and then this afternoon, I burned a few DVDs of the finished project. When I reached a point about 13 minutes into the film, the speakers on my TV emitted a horrid screaching noise that lasted for about two seconds. In the film, a .wmv clip is playing with an ambient sound effects clip and a series of three short, consecutive sound effects for a character knocking on a wood box. (These audio clips are in separate tracks and are not a part of the .wmv file; I added them separately.) I thought perhaps my TV speakers were the problem, but my computer speakers acted the same way. Next I assumed that some glitch had occurred in media encoding and so I closed PE4, reopened, and burned a new disk with the same result. I checked the .mpg file that I exported last night, and the screach was absent from it.
    I next tried to examine that specific spot in my timeline, but when I scrolled to it and zoomed in to a level where I could see <1 second long sound clips, the program crashed without mentioning a specific error. The Windows error reporting box popped up and simply informed me that "Adobe PE4 has encountered a problem and needs to close." Sceneline mode doesn't crash at that point, but timeline does. The only thing I can conclude is that somehow files on the timeline got corrupted between last night and this afternoon, but since I can't even look at that part of the timeline without a crash, I can't even replace the clips at that area. Am I overlooking something silly here? Any help would be appreciated. If I haven't supplied needed information, I'm sorry; and I'll be happy to add it.
    Thanks,
    Andrew Hild

    Let us start with the usual drill.
    Please check
    Adobe Folder. For pile ups of previews in Adobe Premiere Elements Previews Folder and conformed audio (cfa and pek sets) in the Media Cache Folder.
    Edit Menu/Preferences/Media. Click the Clean button to get rid of all conformed video (.mcdb) files.
    Run the ccleaner (regular and registry cleaners)
    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
    Remember you have only a 32 bit application there with all the resource limitations of 32 bit system. That makes computer optimization, especially around the time of high productivity, important to keeping the subsequent workflows flowing to a successful completion.
    You wrote
    These audio clips are in separate tracks and are not a part of the .wmv file; I added them separately.)
    But do they sit on top of .wmv footage that has its own audio so that the audio of the .wmv is in conflict with that of the audio clips above it?
    You may have two problems, audio conflicting and resources compromised.
    Please review and let us know if any of the above applies to your situation.
    Thanks.

    First, what version of Berkeley DB are you running and on what system?
    The error indicates something amiss in the log. The LSN values are quite
    small. Can you run 'db_printlog -N -h <env path>' and post the log
    contents?
    If you are using BDB 5.0 or later, can you also post the contents of
    the __db.rep.diag00 file in the environment home directory? Thanks.

  • Creating pie chart diagram in java  and converting into BMP file

    hi all ,
    my req. is to create draw a pie chart diagram and store
    the picture in BMP. it is Possible. if so how ?
    cheers
    senthil

    Hi Senthil,
    This response is a bit late but I hope it can help in some way.  Your requirement (to create draw a pie chart diagram and store the picture in BMP) is possible and actually quite easy if you don't mind using two open source libraries.  In his previous response to this thread, Detlev mentioned JFreeChart for as a solution for charting however he also mentioned that it lacks support for BMP.  Although this is true, you can use the JFreeChart library (http://www.jfree.org/jfreechart/index.html) in conjunction with an imaging library to meet your requirement.  I have used JFreeChart on multiple projects and I highly recommend it.  For the imaging library you have many options, however the only one I have used is The Java Imaging Utilities (JIU - http://jiu.sourceforge.net/).  Using these two class libraries, you can generate your pie chart and save it to a BMP file with the following block of code:
         try
             JFreeChart chart = this.createChart();
             FileOutputStream streamOut = new FileOutputStream("your/files/path/BMPfile.bmp");
             BufferedImage image = chart.createBufferedImage(600, 300);
             if(image == null)
                  reportError("Chart Image is NULL!!!!!!!!");
                  return(false);
             RGB24Image rgbImage = ImageCreator.convertImageToRGB24Image(image);
             Codec codec = new BMPCodec();
             codec.setImage(rgbImage);
             codec.setOutputStream(streamOut);
             codec.process();
             codec.close();
             streamOut.flush();
             streamOut.close();
        }catch(IOException ioExcept)
             // throw or handle IOException...
             return(false);
        }catch(OperationFailedException opFailedExcept)
             // throw or handle OperationFailedException...
             return(false);
    The first line inside the catch block calls a helper method that should create the actual chart using the JFreeChart library.  Once you have your chart instance (all chart types are represented using the JFreeChart class), you can then retrieve a BufferedImage of the chart (JFreeChart.createBufferedImage(int width, int height);).  In our situation, the BufferedImage class will act as an "intermediate" class, for both libraries (the charting and imaging) can make sense of BufferedImages.  The rest of the code deals with storing the generated chart (the BufferedImage) as a BMP file to disk.  The RGB24Image, Codec, BMPCodec, CodecMode, and OperationFailedException classes are all part of the JIU library.  Also, note that the storage  source is not solely limited to a File on disk; the Codec.setOutputStream(OutputStream os) method will accept any subclass of OutputStream.  This implies that not only can you store to the actual App Server disk (where your app is running) but also to sources such as Knowledge Management (KM) resources or even directly to the clients browser (in the case of an iView).
    Once again, sorry for the late response and let me know if you have any questions regarding the code above.
    Regards,
    Michael Portner

  • Splitting an audio and video file

    i know before quicktime 7 came out you could split the audio and video track and stuff. can you still do that. i have a music video of live stuff and i want the audio from it. i also have final cut, garage band, and all those fancy programs so if you can do it there i would appriciate some knowledge thrown my way.

    yes well im not supposed to be doing this but its a locked aac audio file. i downloaded it off itunes but my girls birthday is commin up and i need the audio half of it for a thing im doin. so i figure if i dont let anyone else have it its ok becaus i bought it. um the video is avc0 media. i can use a screen shot to show all of it.

    I was using photoshop CC as normal, when suddenly it started going haywire. It has corrupted all the open PSD files by distorting the images and colour. They are now completely unrecognisable and unusable. Does anyone know how to recover the original images as I was saving them as I went along but the files are now corrupt?

    What version of Photoshop are you running?
    I've seen a couple of instances over the last week or two where Photoshop has added masks, strange colours and also merged content from two separate PSD files that were open at the same time.
    This has occurred on two different iMacs, (both 10.10.x) running Photoshop CC 2014.2.2 (20141204.r.310 x64).
    see image below for example:

  • Plotting a bmp file and concatination with polor plot

    i have developed one graphical application where i am concatinating a 24 bit bmp file and labview polor plot in a picture box where a line is rotating continiously with 0.5 degree resolution by changing the data in polor vi.Now i have placed one boolean button in the centre of the polor plot.when the program is running the button is also moving along the radius of the circle(following the line)by changing the data in the top and left property of the boolean button.
    The problem is that when i am removing the bmp file the bollean button runs very fast but when bmp file is there the program anyway running slow as a result boolean button also running slow.
    what is the solution.i want both,the picture(bmp) as well as fast movement of the button.
    i am attaching the application program.it is developed in 6.1.
    tanu

    bmp is raster, display slow in picture control; while polar plot is vector, draws faster.
    If the bmp is not changing, you can use it as background behind the picture control.
    If the bmp is changing, maybe you can convert it to 8 bit bmp, so it can be redraw faster.

    I created a quicktime movie using an appllication called Wirecast. Before the quicktime file was stopped, I ran out of hard disk space and the QT file shut down incomplete. I have tried all the easily available tools to 'recover' the file and they do not work. Thank you.

    I used the services of http://aeroquartet.com/movierepair/ to repair my corrupted Quictime file. Although it was more expensive than I anticipated, the service was absolutely first rate, the solution is brilliant and the Treasured application written by these people is amazing. I cannot recommend this solution more highly if you have a corrupted video file. Even given the cost of $149US for mu sepcific solution, it can be used on other files, is simple to apply and an irreplaceable memory has been saved.
