Body of new message replaced by old message

New messages in my mail client are having their bodies replaced by old messages (same handful of messages over and over) from July.
User Mulder suggested running mdimport ~/Library/Mail to someone with a similar problem who was running 10.5. I'm running 10.3 and I don't have mdimport installed. What can I do?

I have similar problem for few mail messages the contents, the body of the messages are not displayed at all, some mail messages I can not find using search in the mail.app, but I can find them using spotlight, the same messages are fully displayed when opened in finder. I have tried to rebuild spotlight indexes - with no results. I also tried to remove envelope index form usr/library/mai, started mail.app it began to import mail messages but after few minutes it crashed. Any ideas?

  • Problem w/ Mail.app. Can't select account nor type in body in new message.

Run accross an issue w/ mail in which the account cannot be selected from the dropdown (the dropdown shows the arrows and about 2 spaces, but that it is and selecting it does nothing) in a new message.
In addition one cannot type anything in the body of the message.
Have tried removing the preferences and re-launching, but to no avail.
    Any suggestions?
    PowerBook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Not really sure why Launch Services would have any
    effect in this situation.
Because of the spell checker. Common symptoms are the New and Reply buttons doing nothing, or the inability to type in the body of the message.
But tried it, and no go.
If the problem persists, I encourage you to try again carefully following all the steps described in the Resetting Launch Services article. It could very well be that you have other problems in addition to this one, but if you have this particular problem (and it looks like you have), you won't be able to fix it by any other means.
If I switch users (a basically unused account on the machine)
and lauch mail.app (had to enter in data as the program hasn't
been configured for the other user), I get the same issue.
This indicates there is something wrong with either Mail itself, or with the whole system, indeed. You can reinstall Mail as described here:
Custom installs in Mac OS X 10.4
If the version of the system software on your installation disks is earlier than what you're using now, then you must also reinstall the corresponding Combo Update afterwards, to bring the Mail application back in sync with the rest of the system:
Mac OS X 10.4.7 Combo Update for PPC
Mac OS X 10.4.7 Combo Update for Intel
Also, you may want to read the following articles for guidelines on how to properly install system updates:
    Troubleshooting installation and software updates
    Installing software updates
Basically, you should verify/repair the startup disk before installing the update, and no applications should be running while installing it.

  • New iphone (replacing an old one) keeps asking me for an old friend's apple id

I just replaced my old iPhone 4s with a new one (new number, new job, etc.) After downloading all of my info from the cloud and setting the new one up with my apple id, everything seemed fine. Now, everytime I wake the phone up or open my messaging app or frankly any other app, it asks me for a very old (like 5 years ago, I guess there are songs in iTunes??) apple id. I don't have, nor do I want, the password to that account- is there a way to figure out what needs that password so I can delete it??
    Thank you!
    Chelsea

There is no easy way to do this.
You can take all of the apps and music off the phone and sync bits back to the phone to determine which song/app requires the other Apple ID.
You could also try viewing the properties of each download in iTunes to find out which Apple ID made the purchase.
In iTunes go to your library > Click on a app or song > Right Click > Get Info > Summary view which Apple ID made the purchase.

  • MM : New product replaces the old product

    Dear Gurus,
We do replace old products with new prducts very often in some special product scenarios.
Like new lable or pack comes or the size is changed the old product remain same but sold under different product name.
    Scenario :
Product A is replaced with Product B but we don't want Product B to be picked up for sales if we have Product A left in stock.
We want system to consider Product B's stock for MRP but not to be picked up for sales untill Product A completely finishes.
At present we block product B which removes this product from MRP process so  this may increase a dnager of putting extra demand.
What we want is the functionality of phase in , phase out not sure OR MRP on hold location which allows functionality of MRP processing and stock booking infor Product B  but no sales untill product A completely finishes.
    Thanks in advance.
    RajaRam

    Hi,
How bout you try doing the below.
    1) Follow Anthony's method of using the Follow-up matl field. In Product A, put in Product B in the follow-up matl field.
    2) For both Products, exclude storage locations from MRP, so that you do not reorder extra stocks for both Products.
    3) Once product A quantity is 0, remove exclude storage locations from MRP for Product B
    4) Set Xplant Material Status for Product A, so users will not use it again. Or Flag it for deletion.
    Hope this helps.

  • Safari new bookmarks replaced by old icloud bookmarks

In order to have my latest bookmarks on safari (osx 10.10.3) I do a manual overwrite, using xmarks, with the option "overwrite local bookmarks with server bookmarks". It works well but a few hours later after the overwrite the safari bookmarks are replaced by the "old" bookmarks stored on icloud.
In other words icloud bookmarks are not synchronized properly and do not reflect the latest changes made on safari on my iMac.
    Any ideas? Thank you.

Make sure you have Bookmarks selected in System Preferences / iCloud

  • In Yosemite Mail, there is an issue where the signatures no longer toggle as in the past. If you change the existing signature, it just adds the new one vs replacing it within the body of the message. Thoughts?

    Hi howe.sc,
When I checked for how signatures in Yosemite work, I found this.
Mail (Yosemite): Include signatures in messages
Delete a signature from a message: Select the signature, then press the Delete key.
Replace a signature in a message: Delete the existing signature, then add a different signature.
That sounds similar to what you are describing.
    Take care,

  • Why does my Apple Mail insert old messages into the body of new emails?

Why does my Apple Mail insert old messages into the body of new emails? The correct sender's name will appear in the "From" column, but an old message from a different sender in the body. This happens randomly. I have an iMac OSX 10.6.8. I recently had the hard drive cleaned, but Apple Mail seemed to be running fine when I set it up again. Could this be a virus? What should I do about it? Thanks for any insights!

Thanks.  While you were replying to my question, I went into notifications and figured
it out.  Appreciate the quick response!

  • HT3226 My iphone 4s fell down on the floor and a very very small bit on the edge of my iphone were broken. Can I insert a new iphone body panel with replace the old one

My iphone 4s fell down on the floor and a very very small bit on the edge of my iphone were broken. Can I insert a new iphone body panel with replace the old one.. ???

I think I had it on the iCloud, I just changed computers and had part of my old computer backed up, where are the default iTunes info saved like the pictures and I know my contacts were backed up cuz I kept getting updated stuff that I wasn't sure about, but it was contacts where some belonged to my wife's contacts....but anyway, if the cloud backed up contacts, it should have grabbed pictures too? Like I asked before, if they were backed up to the computer, is there a default iTunes folder they are saved to? I had a crap load of pictures on there that I usually could really access if I was connected to wi-fi. I turned off my data stuff as I only have 4GB and between me and my 2 kids, we seemed to use up a lot of it. My son would play music from Pandora during work, and use up all our data til I limited him to only 3GB, my daughter and I barely used 1GB. Anyway, thanks to everybody that is answering. I thought I might have done good finding the dang sim card, but pointless I guess.
Ralph - F.Y.I. I would be happy to back up the iPhone if I could turn it on LOL......I am pretty positive I did, but what about Text messages? ANY of those saved too or not? Sorry guys, I don't know a **** of a lot about cell phones, but I do know about memory cards, but not sim cards that act like memory cards or look like them anyway. What is the purpose of a sim card if I may ask a stupid question since they don't hold any data from my phone stuff. I just hope my stuff comes back on the new replacement phone once I get it up and running. Again, thanks to everybody for the edumucation.

  • Text Message Scrolling Up to Old Messages When Opening New Message

Whenever I open up a new text message that is a part of a long conversation, the screen opens up already scrolled up like 100 messages ago.  I scroll up to a message box and type b to go back to the bottom where my new message is, but once I try to scroll back down in order to type a reply it jumps back up to the old message and I have to scroll all the way back down to the bottom.  Has any body else encountered this on the Blackberry Style, and if so, did you find a solution?

Happens to me. The only solution I know of is to delete the old messages. Sorry.

  • Mail in inbox replaced by old mail messages when opened

My computer was recently worked on and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with this but I thought it worth noting. I had to use time machine to put all my application data back onto apple mail and I started encountering problems pretty quickly. About 3-4 times a week when I go to look at my new mail in the morning, several of my mail messages are replaced by old messages from my inbox. They show up when I open my gmail account online but even when these messages are saved into folders they still retain the form of the old message. Has this happened to anyone before? Is there a solution? I might not have explained myself well, but hopefully someone will get the point.

You probably have two good ways to go -- one, you could merely remove the IMAP accounts, and set them up again, which since everything is on the server, Mail would again index them when setting newly accessing them.
The second, and probably better way to go, is as follows: Force a reindexing by deleting the Envelope Index. With IMAP or Exchange account, forcing reindexing requires removing the account folder. See:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mail/4.0/en/14019.html
This method with be sure to reindex any On My Mac mailboxes. Ask any questions needed to get comfortable with doing this.

  • New message in Mail; old message from a year ago being opened

Okay, so here's a weird one. It is the second time it has happened in a week.
I go to open a new message, however when I open it an old message from a year ago opens up in its place. It isn't even a year to date issue. For instance today (October 15) I opened a message dated today, and it pulled up an old message from a completely different sender dated May 16, 2006. It is not doing it with all of my new messages that came in today just the most recent one or two.
    Any ideas/help?
    tx!

What type of mail account is this (POP, IMAP, .Mac)? If IMAP or .Mac, try rebuilding the mailbox, i.e. select the mailbox in Mail and do Mailbox > Rebuild.
